Ok I fixed the fact that I had posted in the OOC. But since I am here I wanted to ask if you have ever used discord. If so, how can this be used to role play. Is it better, worse?

I have used discord before, though not for long...but from what I know it works more as a chat. So one on one reactions it is ideal. The problem is usually the hours one is online. Also you would have to save the chats into a document, which isn't a problem, but needs cleaning up afterwards.

ok so to be clear, we are playing out Eili's story arc. How much of the background war do we want to participate in or will be solely focused on her hunt? Also, I am kinda bad at world building. So how much freedom do I have in that? I mean, I am sure you have an idea in mind of settings and characters. I would not want to be inharmonious to that.

However, I am totally on board with world building and discussion just like we did before.

First of all,

I am almost done with the maps I made for Vaim and Belisio.

I have a storyarc centered around Eilis build up, but we'll be dragged into the war regardless, because I will turn Olysiums streets into a warzone. The Venray estate which is where we'll be staying for now will also fall, with all the drama that includes, but I don't want to tell too much already.

As for worldbuilding don't worry too much, I have this particular storyline worked out so we play around with that and you can add anything you want to it, hooking it onto its path.

We will also visit the castle and other strongholds, but for now you'd best worry about the Tahjai and Eilis.

This is starting to sound like a sort of shoot gun wedding.... lol.

Ok cool, yes I think that this whole story arc will be quite interesting with the two mages and their relationship and the backdrop of the war that threatens to end any future they may have. I am good with following your lead and adding some things as we go. One thing I definitely think we should change is the weaponry. I think that the rounds should be bullets as lasers or other such things would be too much for Arn or Tyrhallan to fight against.

I am guessing we can still utilize our already mentioned Characters like Tobi and the tech you had made up for the probable fight in the capital.

Looking forward to playing this out.

Last thing, is there any advice or things you would like to see in my responses? I tend to RP internally a lot but I am not sure if you prefer more dialogue?

I will throw you into a little bit of everything.

Gothic Steampunk Horror to Downton Abbey frivolities...so I'd say just choose the path you wish to follow and how you want to play. There will be times we'll be doing a lot of dialogue and there will be moments where all we'll get is internal work so I'd leave it to the situation.

As for the characters, we might run into them, it solely depends on how the tracks will be laid down since I do still have some storylines that are not so tied down that I am thundering down this railroad, but also will try to alter paths when you take a different route than I had thought out.

For now we still have a little moment of peace before the storm is going to go down, so you'll get a little more characters introduced and feel free to add your own.
As for weapons, well I never really considered lasers to be the kind of tech Belisio would really use.
So I always envisioned more steampunk type weaponry or old medieval weaponry really, with some magical tampering around them.

how lavish are we talking? Also, do you happen to have some visual references of the surroundings and the parents? Finally, is it ok for me to dress Eilis and describe our arrival?

Thinking aristocratic Europe lavish (though not French Louis the XIV lavish) and yes I'll be putting visual references and descriptions in for you.

For how the building looks on the outside think:

And think of the hallway as entrancepoint >>> a corridor (the narrower bit of the hall leading into a rounderroom and staircase (hallway's end)
The room is less cramped as this one, but you'll get the idea and a rounder wider staircase one which you can stand side to side with at least three people in width.

Ground Floor is the Great Hall, Offices and the Music and Study room. With the Kitchens and Servants quarters in the back of the building.

First floor the Main appartment rooms; guests are welcomed here, the Diningroom is there as well as 'the Men's Playroom' which is filled with guns, billiards, globes cigars and liquor. Of course there is also the Gallery and Ballroom and Dressingroom

Second Floor are the Private Quarters; the Bedrooms and the 'Skyroom' or Observatory for all the Citygazing and Sky watching ones desires.

As said this is their Townhouse, their 'Real Estate' is a proper place outside in the country, with lands and tennants and all that. It is also where Tyr himself prefers to be since it is far away from meddling mother's trying to string him as a husband for their potential daughters.
They are aristocratic landed gentry, meaning they have a title (Tyr's proper title explained to Tobias) and lands to go with said title (officially though Tyr's Uncle is the real Lord Venray).
As he is the eldest, but he passed his inheritance on to his younger brother as his ambitions lay elsewhere when he became a Knight and had no time to spare taking proper care of the estate and its business.

I imagined that the Capital itself is not yet reached. Since the Hearthguard is fighting with them and clashed with them before they reached the city.

I'm also keeping TheMerlin's storyline as is, though since he/she is off radar I don't want to control his/her characters or story too much, so this will center predominantly around Arn, Eilis and Tyrhallan. If you wish to bring in more characters of your own, feel free to do so.
I don't know specifically what he had in mind with his storyline, so I don't want to run away with that.

Instead I hope we can brew a nice story together with a few plotpoints that we do know.

- Vaim is trying to conquer Belisio.
- They were defeated in the past.
- The Sorcerer King blew up the world.

I also would like it if you started thinking of a potential 'Vaimese Player' working for his/her own goals, because unlike TheMerlin I would like to go Vaim (we need to if what I have in mind will happen, in order to rescue a certain someone) and get a glimpse on the otherside of the fence so to speak.
Even though my other players and factions (the Tahjai and The Brides) are evil, it doesn't mean all of Vaim is so.
I do think Vaim's Empire styles itself somewhat to the Greek/Roman ones, but if you have other ideas regarding that feel free to tell me so.

I will also soon offer some insights in the Tahjai and The Brides.
These characters will be introduced sooner or later and their motives will be explained as the story progresses.
Funnily enough I like the Martin's approach to characters and if the imaginary dice don't roll in their favour they obviously might die sooner than expected or thought out (I would never pressume to kill off your characters though...)

And ofcourse random references to my imaginary scholar Folken and writer Ferezanthe will pop up every once in a while.

Now as a little taste tester to see what your impression is:

"…And the Dark Day arrived, its form darkening the sky and its Claws and Teeth ripping apart soil and soul. The twisted form thundering towards them, the hungry mouth feeding upon those in its wake. There among the Mist and Smoke stood a Monster beyond reckoning. A foe unimaginable as it silenced the screams of devil and innocent alike, its intend total and utter decimation.
The most ruthless creation of the Empire, an attempt at coldblooded justice through the torturing of the poor souls fed to this every hungry beast. Whilst no name would truly grasp the effiency of the Horror, those that dared whisper of it would call it 'The Harrower."

An excerpt from Ferezanthe’s forbidden writings: The Rule of an Empire.

Ok, so just to make sure I understand. The Viemese character you want me to make will have some sort of agenda? As you stated, you already have some evil players in the pot so should my player be more towards the goodish side?

I assume you are talking empire as territory grabbing and expansion or actually in regards to culture and stuff?

I totally agree with characters being in danger of death if not RPd correctly or if the situation presents itself. I will be honorable in my demise if it happens to come to that. I try to be true to what my character would do even if that means death. I have had to re roll plenty of DnD characters in the same campaign and do not meta if at all possible.

Regarding Folken and Ferenzanthe. Folken is the contemporary scholar that is referencing Ferezanthe who was alive during the War of Broken skies right?

I figure a learned person such as Tyrhallan might have a few books by famous scholars.

Speaking of Tyrhallan. I find it interesting IC that Tyrhallan and his Uncle are both knights and KI users. Perhaps magic is more hereditary than some may think? This might be the basis for my Viem character.

Well to start I regard the Vaimese as an Empire like Rome was an Empire (Expanding and grabbing for territory).
Considering the world was once 'whole' the Empire in my set up past actually had a internal conflict going on for the 'soul' of the Empire. Very much like Rome had once been a Republic before it became an Empire through the machinations and manipulations of Cesar.
Vaim once had been similar governed by different factions before a certain Elite group went for a power grab and effectively squashed the opposition.

Now in my case this is where Ferezanthe comes in (Ferezanthe is not one writer; though it seems to be that way, there were actually multiple people writing under that name and also why some of his/her works are controversial with the stance of the Empire).
Most of his 'classic works' are well known as the classic works hold a similarity to being part Diary and Part Collections of Myths and Legends such as 'the Weaver'.
Eilis's coven had the classic works in their library, Tyrhallan having enjoyed a proper nobles education would be as familiar with it as Highschoolers would be with the Greek Myths.

Folken is just a scholar who is their world's Confucius, though not connected to Ferezanthe at least not that I intended.
He's the equivalent of a sage, a guide you live your life by.
If he says the moon is made of blue cheese then it is so.

With the Venray's they have always been Knights. It is why the family enjoys such a reputation. They are true Belisian nobles who swore fealty to the King at the time and have enjoyed their roles as Knights of the Realm. Pharlan Tyrhallan's father however had no Ki magic that his older brother and son have, he in turn takes care of the family's finances and governing of the estate.
With Uilles and Tyrhallan they were lucky to have inherited the ki abilities and have honed them to perfection. Though Uilles no longer can fight on the battlefield due to a sustained he now enjoys a different but equally important position acting as bodyguard to the queen. Uilles also was Tyrhallan's first teacher and is like an old honeybadger. Crafty.

As for your own character you'll be free to throw in whatever type of character you like, think about it for now and come back to it when we truly are going to go to Vaim.

I am going to create some necessary drama. As certain characters will show themselves. But if you also have certain ideas with your viamese character please don't hesitate. I have held up more than one storyline before, so flipping back and forth is no issue.

lol, dang you making Arn fail on his promise already lol. Also, I dont think that you are holding up the storyline but I can work something up on the Viamese front. How much freedom are you giving me? I dont want to disrupt or contradict anything you have planned. I was thinking like a bigger picture kind of situation that incorporates and includes the Eilis story arc and the war.
