The Pokemon Center was thankfully easy to spot. Once there, Liam had the local Joy heal his Pokemon. He then went and made a call to Prof Oak to call in a reserve Pokemon, just in case.

Shiranui got his Pokémon healed and had Nurse Joy check on the Phantump he caught, now named Kodama. He was confident of his choices for the upcoming gym battle and after a call to Prof. Oak, swapped Ikari for a reserve for similar reasons to Liam. He still had to prepare his reserve for a strategy he cooked up.

Jen heal her Pokémon and change out her Pokémon. Silver the Butterfree pops out of her pokeball and ends up on Jen’s head. She notices Eclipse the Corvisquire is sad and Jen opens the Ultra ball. A bunch of black feathers on the floor and Eclipse starts to cry. “You are a pretty bird,” Jen said as she wonders if this was normal.

Shiranui saw Jen's Corvisquire moulting and ran through a few possible reasons as to why. "Eclipse, even if you moult, you'll never be as ugly as an Archen or a Cramorant," he assured, "I may not be an ornithologist, but this could be a sign you're about to evolve."

When Beckham was tired, he quietly got up and walked over to the nightstand where Liam placed the balls holding his on hand Pokemon, Beckham tapped his and was sucked in.

The next morning, Liam had gotten up early and had a quick breakfast with his team. Liam then went outside to practice some Z move poses while he waited for his friends to get up and be ready to go. His Rotomphone was helping him out by flashing symbols that corrolate to the 18 types and randomly stopping on one, which is the one he would do.
Beckham was kicking a small ball around, and Dreepy was examining the mushrooms that grew in the Center's garden.

Shiranui did similarly only instead of practicing Z-Move poses he sent out his Meowstic, Nekomata, and his Salazzle, Nayamashii. He prepared his Salazzle for the use of a certain devastating move by having Nekomata use Yawn on Nayamashii, soon sending the Salazzle to sleep. He gave Nayamashii a Chesto Berry to hold and afterwards recalled his Pokémon, ready to battle the Ballonlea Gym.

"Everyone ready? Liam asked.
"Cinder!" Beckham called out running over to his trainer, doing a midair backflip and sticking the landing.
