The Shi’ar Empire was one of the most powerful in its home reality. Extending across multiple galaxies, the Shi’ar were a force to be reckoned with. Under the rule of Emperor D’Ken, this power grew steadily as system after system fell against the Emperor’s expansion. One of the ways that the Shi’ar Empire expanded was through the use of Fearless-class Dreadnoughts, massive ships that the other alien species could not do anything against.
It was under this horrible rule of D’Ken that four prisoner met. Christopher, Hepzibah, Ch’od, and Raze were all sent to a Shi’ar slave pit for one reason or another. It was there that they came up with a crazy plan to escape. Fate smiled on them that day as not only did they manage to get out of the slave pit, they stole a newly built Shi’ar dreadnought, one sitting in dry-dock around the planet.
Dubbing the ship the Starjammer, these four would fight against the Shi’ar Empire as pirates. They would quick become the talk of the galaxy, the intergalactic media dubbing them the Starjammers. Allies would flock to them, as different forces wanted to end the reign of Emperor D’Ken.
The end of D’Ken would come when the X-Men, mutant heroes from the planet Earth, became involved. In a complicated battle D’Ken would be ousted from the throne, his sister Lilandra taking the role of Empress. Christopher would also discover that Cyclops and Havok of the X-Men were actually his long lost sons.
The Starjammers would be pardoned by the new Empress of the Shi’ar. From then on they would continue to fight tyranny, operating as space pirates against the many corrupt regimes of the universe.
