@Martian: I guess my biggest issue specifically for this position is why they'd be desperate to recruit someone for it in such a way when they'd almost certainly have more accessible experts. Not that he couldn't defect or something, it just feels weird that he'd end up in such a position specifically.

So I decided to get rid of the North Korean and about half of my character sheet. So here's the greatly changed character up for review.



Name: Namgung Dai
Age: 34
Gender: Male
Appearance: Dai stands at 5’6’’ with a thin athletic build from regular exercise. His skin is quite pale from being locked away in a lab for so long. He has a pretty average face, with a straight nose and blue eyes from a mystery ancestor. His hair is naturally black and shoulder length, but recently he has dyed it a bluish-black. Clothing wise, Dai mostly wears plain colored suits, as he was raised the son of a businessman. Dai believes he should look professional wherever he is, so he almost never wears casual clothing.
Personality: Dai was brought up believing that he was better than everyone else, that he was smarter than anyone else he came across. As such he tended to be a know it all growing up, a personality trait that put off his peers. This lack of interaction with those his age led to Dai being pretty socially awkward, not really picking up on conversational cues or having empathy to how others feel. This continues to be a problem for Dai into adulthood, as he is seen as distant and standoffish by his coworkers at YATAGARASU.
Dai is a workaholic, spending way too much time on a single project, often putting in countless hours of overtime. Once he has a task in mind, there is no stopping him. He will continue working at a problem until he finds a solution, no matter how hard the problem is. This need to constantly be doing something also comes from his father.
Underneath this emotional wall that Dai projects, he is a bundle of nerves and emotions. Having never learned to truly express himself, Dai keeps everything bottled. The only times that these emotions are visible is in brief bursts of anger, which are quickly quelled. Dai has no clue what to do with these feelings.
Skills: Dai is an expert on kaiju biology and behavior, having made deducing what leads a kaiju’s actions his primary focus of research. As part of his studies he has both dissected a kaiju cadaver and followed the movements of a herd of small kaiju. This has led to him becoming one of the preeminent scientists in his field.
Since joining YATAGARASU, Dai has been trained in how to fire a gun. Outside of work, Dai is both a gardener and an animal lover, seemingly getting along with any animal. He was also brought up in a multilingual house as well as taking courses in university, so he is fluent in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and English.
Equipment: Messenger bag with a laptop, tablet, smart phone and various notebooks inside. Haneul also has a gun in a holster in his jacket.
Brief Backstory: Born the son of Namgung Junichiro, a famous Japanese-Korean entrepreneur, Dai would never want for anything in life. Shortly after Dai’s birth, his father would begin developing anti-kaiju weaponry. This was thought of as unnecessary as the Japanese military seemed to have a handle on fighting kaiju at this point. But then the return of Godzilla happened in 1991, completely destroying Tokyo. Suddenly the new weapon designs of Namgung Industries were in high demand as public fear of kaiju sky rocketed.
The now highly valuable Namgung Industries was able to remain resistant to the Japanese recession of the early nineties. By the age of five, Dai and his family would move in to a mansion just outside of Osaka. Dai would be told by his father that he was better than the other kids he interacted with him, as he came from a powerful family. This would lead to Dai becoming cocky and not being well liked at the school he attended.
But Dai would excel in said school, being frequently at the top of his class grade wise. However, a divide would soon form between Dai and his father as they had different views on what he should be focusing on in his studies. Junichiro wanted his son to become a businessman, to eventually take over running Namgung Industries. But Dai would be far more interested in his science courses.
Like his father, Dai would become obsessed with kaiju. For many school projects he would pick the giant monsters as the topic of his assignment. Fellow students would start calling him Godzilla-Head. But Dai didn’t mind, as he knew his life was destined to revolve around kaiju in some way.
Upon graduating high school, Dai would move to Tokyo to attend the University of Tokyo, majoring in biology. Kaiju would continue to be the focus of his studies, much to the chagrin of Dai’s father. After many years of studying, Dai would obtain his doctorate. He would quickly be considered an expert in kaiju biology and behavior.
Junichiro would then convince his son to work for Namgung Industries, using his knowledge to be a consultant on the production of anti-kaiju weaponry. Dai would spend two years working for his father, only to become aware that Namgung Industries was working on using kaiju themselves as weapons. Dai considered this highly unethical and would eventually blow the whistle on what Namgung Industries was doing to the Japanese government.
A big legal case would ensue that made all the national news in Japan. Dai would try his best to stay out of the spotlight, quietly accepting a position at YATAGARASU. Dai would then burrow himself into his work, not wanting to have any time to think about what might befall his father.

@VitaVitaAR First things first, for Lore purposes, would the JAGUAR pilot be drawn from the ranks of JASDF or could they be from any of the forces belonging to UN member states? I did read in the opening that YATAGARASU has bases and members internationally.

But if it is exclusively the former I do have in mind a character that is a homage to Tsugutoshi Komada, the original suit actor. Not the most original idea, I know, but it something that I always wanted to try my hand at.

@Nightwing95: They'd likely be a pilot from the JSDF, since we're focusing on YATAGARASU's Japanese branch.
