Good question. It is a single ability, but it can be multifaceted. If it is multifaceted, it should be related to the core ability and be tied together in some manner, yes. For example, say the core ability is to create fire. A multifaceted extension would look like fire can be created then a ring of fire can be used as a trap that creates an explosion upon stepping into the ring. Even further, upon stepping into the ring, the fire bounds the target completely disabling their movements and then explodes. But the core ability is still to create fire.

I hope this gives you an idea of what I mean by multifaceted, not sure if that was a good example or not haha.

If it were pvp I’d be more strict on abilities, but since it’s pve you’ve got more creative license bere. Also cause it’s specifically chaos magic, esoteric aspects would make sense. Feel free to create an ability you would be really happy with. If it’s too too much, I’ll let you know, but aspects like time, souls, and concepts are all on the table creatively.

So the first chapter of the RP will run in a dual timeline structure (surprise!!) where the player cast will be followed both six months into their journey and just before they get their abilities at the linear beginning of it all. So to answer your question, in one timeline it will have been six months since they’ve had their abilities.

An older character wouldn’t be a problem, no. It would certainly fit the theme of The Worn. I’d have to assess the entire character sheet of course, but the age alone wouldn’t be an issue.

I'll be lurking as I attempt to conjure up a character idea. Will be following this epic journey regardless :)

We’ve reached our cast limit for now and I thank you all for the interest and character submissions. Time to get this party story started!

I’ll be working on the introductory IC post and that’ll be up and going this week. Posting order isn’t important really, you’re good to post when you’re able to do so within a two week period. Advanced RPs usually move at a bit of a slower pace than the other sections so I’m not expecting a fast paced, speed posting affair. If everyone has posted in a round though, you can usually expect that I’ll be posting soon after so as not to hold everyone up. What I will say is my GM posts will move scenes forward unless my character is interacting with your characters in which case there may be a bit of a dialogue before moving to the next phase of plot. I also highly encourage collab posts for continued dialogue volleys if your characters are going to be having a true back and forth, but it’s up to you of course.

With all that said, thank y’all for joining up again! I’m excited for this!

Alright peeps, first post is up! There’s a lot going on so I’ll break it down a little.

There’s two timelines going, one after our initial opening and then the opening itself. In the present day, our group has already met and knows each other. They’re spending one last free night together before they’re to report in to the government for further orders. In the opening, it’s the beginning of everything. It’s the night of the prison attack and this is also where our character get and display their powers for the first time. Make sure to add “Heed my words, mortal…” to your posts somewhere. Every character has that ringing in their head, but the actual message they receive is different and up to you.

Tom Gunther is an NPC, a US senator, who will play an important role in one of my upcoming posts. For now what you need to know is he is the one our group answers to in the present day and he’s running the program which will get more light shed on it in one of my next posts.

Other than what I just explained, feel free to be creative in how you add information or lore to your posts for your characters. If you have any questions or anything, of course I’ll be more than happy to answer them for you! Happy writing!

I love the first post, especially the little sequence with him materializing the knife in the bar. I had a question with regards to the powers that I hadn't thought of until now. Six months later, are our characters still growing in strength after an initial burst of capability when the powers awakened? Or is the strength fully realized and it's a matter of learning what you can do with it?

That’s a great question! Considering it’s been six months since the initial burst of power, I’d say their powers are growing in strength still, that is to say there is a potential of them getting stronger yet. But they’re also learning just how versatile they can be with their abilities so a little bit of both, really. It also comes down to how you want your character’s arc to develop.

Maybe they were practicing nonstop for those six months after the initial burst and have a dominion over their abilities thats closer to mastery. It should serve your character’s narrative and the overarching narrative is built to accommodate that kind of player freedom.

Great posts everyone! Today marks two weeks since the first post so I’ll be working on my next post to have up sometime next week I’d say! The present day half will likely be interaction while the past half will be plot moving. Again, awesome posts (that I’ll be reading through again) and I thank you all for them.
