Personality: Hibiki is, in the normal course of things, a friendly, hyperactive goof. She's unrelentingly cheerful, prefers to try and avoid conflict through talking, and will generally believe the best of anyone until given a reason to believe otherwise. This is even a pretty accurate assessment of her underlying mood most of the time. It's just that when something is getting her down, or bothering her, then she's still going to act exactly the same, as well as continuing to throw herself into harms' way for the sake of everyone else. Despite all she's been through, it isn't really something that's gone away, nor has the lingering survivor's guilt. She's also an idiot. While she somehow has moments of tactical brilliance, when it comes to studying or paying attention… well, she wasn't the worst in S.O.N.G. (barely), but it's close. It also took her much, much too long to wise up to her own feelings regarding Miku – even though everyone could see it. Where Miku is concerned, she's actually shockingly selfish given the rest of her demeanour. Likes food. A lot.
Brief History: At age 13, Hibiki attended a Zwei Wing concert. The last Zwei Wing concert. When she was there, Noise attacked, and one of the singers gave her life to protect Hibiki's… even though she didn't get away unscathed, getting a shard of an ancient relic lodged in her chest and uncomfortably near her heart. You would think this is enough punishment, but her survival when so many else didn't – including her father's boss's daughter – and the generous payout she received over the resultant medical troubles lead to considerable ostracism and bullying, while her father gradually became an abusive alcoholic before leaving entirely. It was not, on the whole, a particularly good time, and it's no wonder that she ended up going to a boarding school along with her best (and basically only) friend. And that's when the events of Symphogear itself happened. In summary, an awful lot of things, but they involve the moon being horribly damaged, diving into a giant laser, punching through K2, punching an alchemical mecha lion, turning into a coccoon, punching through the devil, going to the moon, and deicide. Said god then basically gave her and Miku her blessing. And they finally got around to confessing, because Hibiki is stupid and Miku was too reluctant.
Universe of Origin: Senki Zesshou Symphogear
Equipment: The only equipment that Hibiki has is the fragment of Gungnir that was turned into a Symphogear. It's a singing-powered magical girl transformation. Also, it provides its own backing track. Get used to ALL LOVES BLAZING. It's a small necklace when not in use.
Abilities: Untransformed, Hibiki has… martial arts. Not any particular style of martial arts, as it's all derived from watching movies with her teacher, but she knows it all the same and has the physical conditioning to use it – much more effectively than one would imagine from a girl of her build, but still nowhere near as impressive as said teacher, and (given her transformation) it's all-in on strikes. Transformed, she's stronger, faster, and tougher. All fairly standard. She also has a transforming set of armour that mostly serves to enhance her ability to hit things (or get about) by rockets or just getting much, much bigger. Those are probably overkill for some things, given she can already kick through concrete just with the transformation alone. While there are some effects that aren't relevant, Gungnir is also a god-killing spear, and as a result Hibiki is entirely capable of inflicting lethal damage to the divine. Most notably, this negates how divine power would be used to regenerate within her world – essentially pulling from alternate undamaged realities – but it doesn't seem to stop anything else from straight healing or regrowing when damaged. While it has one still-remaining powered up mode, X-Drive takes an enormous amount of phonic gain (song powered, remember?) and it, and its flight abilities, are unlikely to make an appearance. It also has the superb song… which is basically one very short-lived and massive power boost at the cost of enormous backlash on herself. Even with Hibiki's compatibility, it's a bad choice without other Symphogear users to share the burden.
Appearance: A woman of short stature standing at about 143cm (4'8") with light brown colored hair typically tied into two ponytails in the back with black hair ties and a decoration featuring a bird tied on her left one. Dressed in typical Xianzhou fashion, she wears a shoulderless green and white thigh length dress and short heels. The dress itself is decorated with a number of bird patterns and designs.
Personality: Never slacks off at slacking off, and if she works hard its purely so she can maximize her slacking off time if all other options are exhausted, like say a certain pink haired Master Diviner has dragged her back to the Divination Commission.
Qingque's entire modus operandi is generally how little effort and how little work I can get by with. and that has been true since her days when she was in classes being tutored, barely scraping by in classes with consistently average grades. She'd rather spend her days playing Celestial Jade, playing games (especially those games of chance) and doing anything else but actually working at the brutal, unfair, and quite frankly terrifying place known as the Divination Commission and its tyrannical ruler, the Master Diviner.
Generally though, Qingque is a friendly and talkative sort. She'll likely challenge you to some fun games if theres anything around, and if she thinks she can use you to get out of work either by making you think she will be helpful at solving your problem, or by offloading a ton of work onto you she certainly will, and don't let her constant need to do anything but work fool you - she's a lot sharper than most folks give her credit for.
Brief History: To explain Qingque's history one needs to start at her schooling in the Lyceum. From freshman year to graduation, she was nothing remarkable. Her grades were always a single number: 60. Of course, this first came off as little more than her tutors believing her to be unremarkable and unsuited to academia, but eventually as the same exact grade kept coming up, they began to suspect this wasn't mere coincidence. They considered it a shame that someone as mentally gifted as her had already decided what she wanted from life - to do absolutely nothing and spend all day slacking off and playing games. Anything at all except for working or academics.
Eventually, though, she would find herself working in the Divination Commission where she'd try to apply the same mentality as her school years. Unfortunately, the Divination Commission - which is in charge of information collecting and gathering in the Xianzhou Loufu - was a terribly place for a slacker to work. Over time. Constant stream of work. A boss that seemed to always be able to find her when she was slacking off. Absolute torture. She was able to use the hellish workscape to refine her slacking off techinques and find better ways of getting off work.
And it was working for the divination commission where she coincidentally rediscovered an ancient game played in the Xianzhou - Celestial Jade. Soon it became her favorite past time, and it also would soon become the new favorite past time of many in the Loufu. Of course leisurely days aren't something to always stay. As of late the Xianzhou Loufu has run into a myriad of problems - though most Qingque likes to keep herself away from. The whole issue with the Mara Struck and Phantyllia attempting to cause mass chaos and get the Loufu to turn on itself with the Sanctus Medicus. The Heliobus Cirrus escaping containment and causing incidents only solved once again with the help of the Astral Express and the Judges, and of course, the Borisin plot to free Hoolay.
But for now at least, things have returned to her leisurely life of games and hiding from a certain Belobog sized heater Master Diviner.
Universe of Origin: Honkai Star Rail
Equipment: -Can summon a table for playing Celestial Jade -Seemingly infinite number of Celestial Jade Tiles.
Abilities: Qingque is not a fighter. She has never wanted to fight, she has never had any desire to do anything except spend her days playing games, slacking off, and doing anything except things that are physically or mentally taxing. She just wants to spend her days having fun. Its perhaps, karmic justice then that she keeps getting dragged into things that are mildly dangerous. That whole incident with the Stellaron, Phantyllia, and the Mara-struck. The Heliobus possession incident. When Hoolay broke out of prison. Granted, she manages to get by in such situations with quick thinking, and a bit of clever wordplay.
That said, all of her combat abilities feature around the use of her Celestial Jade board that she had a hand in making herself. It looks fairly simple, but its a pretty high tech bit of Xianzhou Loufu tech. It can create and store tiles via temporary quantum entanglements that would take far too long to explain in great detail. It also acts as a sort of small-scale microcosm of her immediate surroundings via complex computing and divination algorithms. Enemies and allies all show up on her board in certain positions.
The simplest form of her combat abilities is to take odd tiles that don't match the full suit and actually just lob them at enemies. With a bit of quick calculations and some quick divination practices shes both scarily accurate with her jade tiles and knows where to throw them to make 'em hurt pretty badly - to say nothing of the small localized quantum explosion upon impact. This is amplified by the simple fact that the more tiles are output and drawn in a short period of time the larger the resulting explosion will be.
The goal, of course, is to draw a hand of a full suit of 4 matching tiles. If she can get a full hand of four of any suit - a Kong - the power of said quantum explosion intensifies by magnitudes, and once thrown they create a bigger explosion.
And rarely, if her luck is extremely good and she manages to get 4 of the same with a Concealed Kong...well, its not just a small explosion. By slamming the resulting tile down on the board on roughly the position of the enemies, it generates an even larger explosion - one that doesn't just result in a simple small scale explosion. No, by slamming the resulting jade tile onto the board in roughly the same position where her enemies are, the explosion will actually happen where said enemies are in actual space/time.
Other: As the re-discoverer of Celestial jade, Qingque more or less also designed the boards and everything dealing with how it should be played in modern times. The board, designed from a modified divination device is able to effect certain things in a small local quantum space around it hence its surprising effectiveness in combat.
Personality: Shino is a quiet person. He likes to stay in the background observing the world rather than being the center of attention. He is also very logical, often framing his speech with question and answer. That unfortunately makes him quite awkward in a conversation and to be around in general. When in battle he is calm and unfazed no matter the situation. Despite his stoic appearance, he is a very kindhearted individual, especially to children. He only has one hobby; entomology (insect study), which has a side effect of making his already creepy appearance even more creepy.
Brief History: Shino was born into the Aburame clan; a ninja family who use bugs as a weapon. Every Aburame member would host insects inside their body and feed them with their ‘Chakra’, a special type of energy in his world. Shino too, had bugs planted inside of him since he was a little kid. Over time he would learn to control and harness their power as his core fighting style.
When he was twelve he graduated from the ninja academy. He started his ninja career with his other 2 friends and a supervising teacher, their team specialize in tracking operations. Throughout his entire career he often took on a leader role because of his level-headed nature. He even played an important role in one of the biggest wars in their world history, holding the line with his hoard of insects. After the war ended he decided to become a teacher to guide the new generation.
Universe of Origin: Naruto Equipment: Standard Kunai and Shuriken set
Abilities: Insect control - As an Aburame clan member, Shino was taught how to control insects since he was young. He can make them move in any way he likes and use them to do his bidding. Insect breeding - Using his body as a nest and his chakra as food, Shino can control the reproduction cycle of his bugs. He can replenish his bug army at a fast rate by consuming his own chakra, making their number endless. Insect scouting - Using special types of insects, Shino can track a person by smell or mark a person that comes into his range which can then be tracked down later. He can also communicate with his own bugs and share their vision with special technique. Insect clone - He can make the insects take the image of himself, confusing his opponent. Giant insect summon - Summon a giant beetle as a ride. Flesh-eating insect - Of all the subspecies of bug that Shino has, there is one which can devour another creature’s flesh from the inside, growing rapidly from a tiny bug up to 2 meters. This is one of his deadliest weapons. Due to the cruelty of this method Shino is only willing to use them on non sapience enemies. Wall and water walking - with special use of chakra he can walk on vertical walls and liquid surfaces. Transformation - Make himself look like another person or object but don’t have their ability. Closed range combat - Can fight without a weapon, can also use kunai at proficient level. Throwing weapon - Can throw kunai and shuriken with accuracy.
Appearance:"Now, shall we begin the experiment?" Sento is a fairly unassuming Japanese man in his mid-twenties, and his usual choice of clothing—a brown coat and ripped jeans—don't do much to set him apart from the crowd. However, after activating his Build Driver, Kiryu turns into Kamen Rider Build. The appearance of his suit changes based on the Fullbottles he uses, but when using the Rabbit and Tank Fullbottles this would be considered the "default".
Personality: Sento is, at first glance, an egotistical genius whose confidence in his own abilities is nothing if not unshakeable. His manner of speaking can be blunt to a fault at times, which could quite easily be misconstrued as rudeness or callousness. On top of all that, the insatiable curiosity that he holds towards the unknown can easily lead to fixation and a ruthless pursuit of answers, which can itself lead to other problems if left unchecked. But beneath that self-assured bravado is the heart of a hero. Though Sento is a scientist, his desire to create a better world in spite of the evils that thrive within it have pushed him further and further beyond his limits. He is a pacifist at heart and would rather defend than attack, but past experiences have led him to shoulder burdens upon himself so that others would not have to. Had he not encountered the reliable allies that pushed forward to fight with and by his side, though, it is likely that such an attitude would have ended with his eventual mental collapse. To those that are his allies, though, the mask of egotism softens into something more akin to self-assuredness and reliability like no other. While he does poke fun at those close to him and might not hesitate to mess with them for entertainment when the mood is right, Sento understands the weight of what it means to be a hero and is willing to put himself on the line to see things through to the end.
Brief History: Kiryu Sento, otherwise known as Kamen Rider Build, uses the power of the Build Driver to fight for the sake of his world. In his timeline, Japan was split into three sections by the Pandora Wall, a byproduct of an incident involving the Pandora Box that turned the nation into three discrete entities, each vying for power in a divided land. Though his time as Build began with him fighting Smash—humans transformed into monsters by means of Nebula Gas—his journey has led him to fight enemy Kamen Riders, aliens, and even his own allies at times. All of this culminated in one final battle against the being that had caused all of this to begin with. Alongside his former enemies-turned-allies and a certain Banjou Ryuga, Sento emerged victorious, but at the cost of shifting into a worldline where the Pandora Wall—and, by extension, Sento himself—never existed, but with everyone he knew in his time now alive but bereft of memories of his original continuity. All save the Banjou of his own timeline, whose own unique circumstances caused him to end up in this new timeline as well with his own memories still intact. Though said timeline is far from perfect in it's own right, the two continue to live on, regardless of what difficulties they face in this new world—though now absent the horrors they have lived through. Mostly.
Universe of Origin: Kamen Rider Build
Equipment:
Build Driver: A device that mounts to Sento's waist that, when loaded with two Fullbottles (or one of the few dual-slot Fullbottles), allows him to transform into Kamen Rider Build. The Fullbottles are modular and can be swapped at will to allow him to access a multitude of sub-forms if necessary. If two bottles are a "Best Match", using them at the same time increases their effectiveness and abilities accordingly. While his suit is active, Sento gains increased strength, speed, and durability regardless of which Fullbottles he uses.
Fullbottles: Containers that hold within them the distillation of "elements" of items that exist on Earth. They can, as a whole, be discretely separated into two categories: "Biotic" and "Abiotic", and the Build Driver can only slot one of each at a time (ignoring specialized alternative Fullbottles). Sento can also 'activate' and use the bottles without the Build Driver to augment his own abilities, if temporarily. At this point in time, Sento only has the Rabbit and Tank Fullbottles on hand; the rest were left behind when he was dragged out of his original (new) world.
Drill Crusher: A combination drill/sword/gun that Sento can access more or less at will from the Build Driver. He can also use it while untransformed and, while somewhat unwieldy, can use the contents of a Fullbottle to affect it's capabilities.
Abilities: The largest factor to Sento's success as Build (and otherwise) is his intellect and talent across multiple scientific disciplines. Utilizing that has allowed him to design and create various inventions, including the upgrades that he and his companions use as they unravel the mysteries that once plagued his world. On top of that, he has shown the ability to quickly and efficiently wrap his head around things that break those laws and repurpose those as he deems necessary. Furthermore, his role as Kamen Rider Build has also honed him as a fighter, both in hand-to-hand combat and with various pieces of weaponry that he utilizes in combat. Though never formally trained (in the traditional sense), the innumerable life-or-death situations he has gone through have pushed his capabilities well beyond those of an everyday human.
Other: Taken post-series and all associated pieces of media.
Personality: An exceptionally self-confident and no-nonsense person. Perhaps it is because of this that she is suited to her position as the Master Diviner. For Fu Xuan, every decision she makes is in service of the best possible outcome. As one who can see the future, it's not exactly an unfounded belief. Given her history, and her capabilities, not only can Fu Xuan perceive the future but at times she believes there are certain events that will always happen, a belief driven by the circumstances of the death of her mentor. At the same time, she must select choices that lead to the best possible future that she predicts, no matter what those possibilities may be. That is the duty of the Master Diviner.
Despite her seriousness about her duties, Fu Xuan is nevertheless quite temperamental and possessed of a rather sharp tongue, with a habit stating the actions of opponents are pointless or rudimentary. She often speaks in a flowery, rather wordy fashion that some find difficult to understand, though when taken off-guard she can struggle to keep this demeanor intact. Due to her pride, she can find it difficult to earnestly ask for help from others if she has not explicitly foreseen that it is the best path forward. She also has no lack of ambition, desiring to see the current general of the Xianzhou Luofu retire so she may assume his position.
And yet, her difficulty with seeking help from others is not her only somewhat childish trait. Befitting of her appearance, Fu Xuan is deeply fond of sweets, in particular preferring Startaro Bubble tea to more refined beverages. While this is in part due to the sugar content keeping her energy high on particularly long days, she is also simply very fond of the taste. She also possesses a mild complex about her height, which will rocket to the forefront of her personality whenever someone else makes the foolish decision to mention it.
It would be wise not to compare her size to a certain planet's heaters while she is in earshot.
Brief History: The daughter of a family of Stargazers, born on the Xianzhou Yuque. This important history, and his own predictions, lead to the current Master Diviner taking Fu Xuan as his pupil. Shortly before this, she was granted the Omniscia, the 'third eye' implanted in her forehead that serves as a portion of her divination ability. In a painful stupor after its implantation, she witnessed her past, present, and future simultaneously. This included her eventual ascension to the position of Master Diviner. Indeed, her tutelage began not long after, and she studied intensively and had frequent conversations on the nature of prediction and the future with her mentor and current Master Diviner.
The years spent learning under him were happy ones, filled with frequent conversation of the matters of what is predetermined and what is human will.
It was during one such conversation that the Master Diviner revealed the only reason he chose Fu Xuan as his pupil is due to having foreseen her future as the Master Diviner. Not her talents, or her family history, simply his divination.
Despite her aspirations, she could not help but be incensed by learning of the truth, and the second revelation caused her anger to boil over as her mentor revealed that she would be the reason for his death.
Fu Xuan left the Yuque in an enraged state, departing from her mentor and carrying a determination to prove his prediction wrong. She would never kill the man she respected so much. She arrived at the Xianzhou Luofu and performed divination there, with centuries rolling by.
Eventually, the Denizens of Abundance began to stir and a massive army arose to mount an assault on the Xianzhou Fanghu. Fu Xuan divined that a head-on attack would result in loss, but the Xianzhou could turn the tide if they fought a defensive battle.
Her advice was brushed aside due to the sheer size of the attacking force.
What followed was the brutal decimation of the Xianzhou forces, playing out before Fu Xuan's eyes.
Rather then succumbing to anger and despair, however, an idea arose in her mind. By using the Cloudpeer Telescope onboard the Xianzhou Yuque, it could be sent to the Fanghu and used transmit a signal to Lan the Hunt, the Aeon followed by the Xianzhou. THEIR arrow could annihilate the attacking Abundance forces, though the collateral damage would by extensive it was their best remaining chance.
The one who sent the signal would certainly die due to the very arrow that would end the war.
It was only then, once her proposal had been accepted, that Fu Xuan realized that only the Master Diviner, the man who had been her mentor, possessed the authority to carry out the signal transmission.
The arrow fired, the war ended, and as Master Diviner Fu Xuan guides the Xianzhou to the best possible future.
Universe of Origin: Honkai: Star Rail
Equipment: Fu Xuan's chief pieces of equipment are the Matrix of Prescience and the Omniscia implanted in her forehead. Together, they serve as the mechanism through which she is able to so precisely divine the future. Combined with divination techniques, they allow the Master Diviner to peer into the future and then act on the information which she sees. This can be used in the line of her typical duties of providing tactical and navigational guidance to the Xianzhou fleet, or for more immediate purposes. Without the use of the larger terminal on the Luofu, however, the typical extent of personal divination is clearest only with immediate events, such as the next move of an opponent or the words that will be spoken in a conversation. Further looks into the future become far less distinct without the use of the Divination Commission's full faculties. Additionally, the Matrix can be used in conjunction with a barrier to create a defensive field that operates by mitigating damage and predicting the actions of enemies. Given that, as a Xianzhou native, Fu Xuan's body continuously rejects the implanted Omniscia, the already-present aches can become far stronger while in this state and potentially cause her to faint from the strain.
Abilities: Chief among Fu Xuan's abilities is her divination. Even without utilizing the Matrix of Prescience and the Omniscia, Fu Xuan can utilize divination techniques that can allow her to make basic predictions about the coming future. These can include shifts in the weather, or the surface-level intentions of a single target. While Fu Xuan is not a soldier, it would be wrong to say she is incapable of combat. The Master Diviner possesses multiple techniques with which to defend herself and assault foes. Fu Xuan can construct barriers, both shields formed of geometric patterns of light and wider-ranging barriers that can defend a larger area. These barriers can also be used offensively, in order to push enemies away or constrain them to a limited area. They can be overcome with sufficient damage, and stronger barriers require longer periods of construction. By utilizing her divination, however, Fu Xuan can begin constructing more powerful barriers ahead of time in order to assist in defending against attack.
The Master Diviner can also attack using directed blasts of quantum energy. By carrying out a swift ritual, inscribing it into the air in the form of light, Fu Xuan can cause this blast to manifest directly on the body of a target, even bypassing some forms of armor. The destructive blast has a short range, but is capable of tearing through even firm and powerful flesh and pulverizing bone or shearing through metal. These blasts can also take the form of directed beams of light, and can very in size and intensity depending on time taking to cast them. Fu Xuan uses divination offensively, predicting the movements of a target and their most vulnerable points in order to deliver maximum damage.
Her most powerful offensive technique requires some preparation, leaving her vulnerable, but at the same time is considerably potent. By constraining one or more targets, though typically its maximum number of targets is restricted by their initial proximity. Once the barrier is formed, Fu Xuan compresses it, potentially crushing some targets as she forces them into a smaller area. This is accomplished by utilizing hand signs to complete the ritual. After being compressed, the interior of the barrier detonates. The quantum explosion within is sufficient to dissolve flesh and bone and even boil some metals. This offensive ritual, however, is difficult to use against gigantic foes, and Fu Xuan is vulnerable while performing it.
Finally, as a Xianzhou native, Fu Xuan is an immortal who no longer ages. Her body, while fragile, can heal from serious damage. This includes severed limbs or destroyed organs, though enough damage will overcome her regeneration. Even a severed head may be repaired if placed close enough to her body.
