Premise
In the not so distant future, relentless consumption, unchecked expansion, and willful blindness finally brought Mother Earth to her knees. Humanity had exhausted nearly every resource she had ever given. The air at the surface was toxic, thick with pollutants and microplastics, barely breathable. No one dared walk outside without a breather mask.
Even then, survival came at a cost.
Masks were scarce and priceless. You either tore one from a pale blue corpse or bartered away everything you had until only the mask remained. Basic necessities like food, clean water, breathable air, were no longer rights, but commodities. Heavily regulated by megacorporations that thrived high above the clouds.
The elite lived in vast aerial domes, suspended in pristine skies, surrounded by abundance. Fresh food. Clean air. Sunlight untouched by smog. They lived in comfort, blissfully ignorant of those left to rot on the poisoned surface below.
And yet, even in Earth’s final years, the unexplainable occurred.
In one of the most remote regions of the surface, an event shattered every known law of physics—a tear in the fabric of reality itself. Neither surface dwellers nor the elite could explain the anomaly, but it existed, undeniable and impossible, staring humanity in the face.
The response was immediate.
The elite seized control of the region, erecting heavily fortified structures around the site. Scientists from every corner of the globe were flown in. For months, they studied the data, until a single, terrifying conclusion emerged: the anomaly was a temporal doorway.
A door that led sixty-five million years into Earth’s past.
Before pollution. Before machines. Before humanity.
The discovery ignited hope and ambition. The anomaly represented a second chance. A way to reset humanity. To establish a new Earth, untainted by the mistakes that had doomed the first.
Thus, Project Genesis was born.
The dream proved too powerful to contain, even within the domes. To maintain order, a Humanity Preservation Council was formed an uneasy attempt to broker peace between those who lived above and those condemned to the surface.
The Council’s purpose was simple. They would choose who went through.
It was not a democratic process. It was brutal. Calculated. A so called lottery, bound by ruthless physical and genetic criteria. Only those deemed capable of surviving and worthy of rebuilding Earth would be selected.
Overview
- Setting: Will take place in a prehistoric time with some futuristic advancements.
- Vibe: This is a slice of life, rebuilding scenario. There will be loss, love, and hopefully some mischief.
- Technology: Advance weapons, medical devices will be available but not too far off with current tech. Solar/wind power will be the main source of energy. Farming is making a comeback for food.
Rules
All players are expected to abide by these rules at all times. Breaking these rules can result in your character being eaten by a carnivorous animal. It will be painful.
- First and foremost, all of the Guild's Fundamental Rules apply.
- This is an open-ended game with no explicitly planned overarching story. Prospective players are allowed to submit a character sheet at any time. Approval or denial of a character sheet is up to the GM's discretion.
- If approved, players are expected to post at least once every two weeks. Posts should make some progress in advancing their particular plot.
- Players can have up to 2 characters.
- Content is to be kept PG-13 at most. Death and violence, sexual content, profanity, drug and alcohol use, and “heavy” themes are not banned, but graphic depictions of any of the above are not appropriate. When in doubt, “fade to black” when something unsavory is about to happen- it's better to be implicit rather than explicit.
- Killing other player's characters- including their supporting NPCs- is not allowed, without express permission from the other player.
- “God-modding” is not allowed.
**Yes, I borrowed rules from someone else. I wasn't sure how to go about it but that person summed it up for me quite nicely.**
Character Sheet
- Face claims must be human. I do not have a preference if it's realistic or AI generated.
- Name, sex, age
- Occupation, I.e. Military, Medical, Biology, Engineering. Its a new colony, there will be plenty to do
- Background
I posted this a few months ago. I am hoping I can get interest again. Hoping for a small group here. The Council is looking forward to your application.
