Anyone have any ideas of a way we can all get together and chat online? I think someone already brought this up but it got ignored. Any of you guys use Skype? Send me a contact request, but please inform me you're from the guild, so I know. Username: venatrix.xii

That would've been me.

I don't use Skype. My laptop does not play ball with it.
When it comes to writing online, I use Google Drive, which I gather has a chat function.

That said, I'm a techtard, so don't ask me how it works.

I was hoping that there might still be some room, but I saw that there were a few other people with unfinished CS's floating around. I had shown my interest when this was posted in the last board and just now found this thread. I'm posting what I have done so far just in case you wanted a different gender/type of character that I can tweak around.

I gave him the wand that chose me on the Pottermore site ^_^

I was thinking of having him either searching for a cure for his terminal family illness (ie a horcrux) or revamping the sheet so he's less focused on dark magic and more on being the next great wandmaker. Possibly working to recreate the Elder Wand

Easy there. The Elder Wand is pretty exclusive by the fact that it is commonly told that Death itself created it.

Also a hocrux would require other human sacrifices in order to work. So if that is your suggested route, you'd be considered rather evil.

Welcome betelgeuse! Bertram could be from both schools like Zordon, ScareCrow, and my own characters. He seems alright atm but make sure you put reasonable history to explain his 3's in credentials. Do you think you could finish the CS by the end of the week?

Just got out of work, waiting on the bus atm, but I'll try and finish the IC post by tonight. My apologies to those of you who have been waiting a long time for this to start. I'll make sure to stay awake all night if that's what it takes to finish the post. Btw, I was the creeper on chat earlier. Kinda hard to work it off my phone. Lol. Now I see what you were talking about.

I don't want to be that guy, but I kinda feel like Bertram's encroaching on Michael's patch, being a secretive, studious guy with a sideline in dark magic and probably-going-to-go-a-bit-evil. He also seems to be bordering on the godmodding, having mastery in four different fields.

Sorry all, I knew I should have posted a more thoroughly fleshed out character sheet, I just wanted to express interest before all of the spots had been filled. I'm a pretty complacent player and I can make whatever edits needed, there were just ten pages of OOC to catch up on. ^_^ I certainly don't want to be thought of as a god-moding jerk, I was just working on it in a rush. I had three ideas for a character: A Wandmaker, A Werewolf or A Sick-Kid-Trying-To-Figure-Out-How-To-Survive-By-Any-Means-Possible.

Sorry I should have been more clear. Traveling from Salem on a foreign group effort would have been because of research after his graduation.

If I was going to go the horcrux route, there was a whole back-story of a family illness and looking for a way to extend his life. The research brought him down some dark paths that finally led to something called horcruxes. He then signed up for the European journey to do deeper research into it. It was possible that he might end his research once he finds out the only way to make one is by killing someone.

As far as the Elder Wand, it would be research that any wandmaker would want to know. What wood it was, the length, the specific runes etched, the shape, the wood strength, core and other aspects would need to be things discovered from several different locations/artifacts. Maybe someone possessed the Death Stick in Spain briefly at some point with an artist who sketched specific details into a portrait. Although it's rumored that Death itself made the wand, even Dumbledore suggested that it was made by Antioch Peverell; who, with his two brothers, made each of the items.

Bertram's entire reasoning would be that "If wizards managed to make it once, why in the world wouldn't it be possible to do it twice?" I hope that clears it up a bit.

Completely valid points. I'm already thinking of details for the other two ideas I had so I don't crowd any character types. And I didn't think of 3 as being a mastery, but having advanced Newt level skill that was going to balance in a deeper description. Again, I can edit that stuff out, I just wanted to save a place.

I'd plump for werewolf because that illness, if that's what we'll call it, is a conflict that nobody else really has going on, and obviously is its own plot if we need it to be.

The Doctor has his points, and I'm sure you have your ideas, but 3 is considered a small mastery. As long as you don't God mode, I don't care which route you take just don't make Bert too powerful. A werewolf does sound cool though. As for the Elder wand, it was destroyed by Potter and no longer exists. Bert might be useful with information regarding a relic new wand I've come up with for the NPC plot. It'll tie in with all of us later on though. I'll get on the chat Zordon was so kind to make for us, and I'll also edit it to the first post before the character list. I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring them, but just fair warning, I won't be that active since I'm going to try and finish the IC post. :)

3 is described in the OP as a mastery, Betelgeuse, and thus having more twos and fewer threes is best (for just-out-of-school characters, at least). And, approaching mastery of the Dark Arts requires live practice... Meaning having that as a credential necessitates evil. With a two, it's more iffy/gray, but a three, there's no question.

This is what I'd recommend: move Duelling (or Transfig) down to two, move Dark Arts down to two, and use the two new points for Alchemy. He would need to be good at Alchemy to do the things he seems to do.

If you go for the other character concepts, though, the credentials could be entirely different (you'd need to add wandlore, for instance).

I think I'll just change to the werewolf idea and edit up the abilities. I feel like a character trying to make a new elder wand might deter too much from an over arching plot- you can just use a werewolf to spice things up ;)

Sorry, like I said, that other sheet was in no way a final draft

I dig it. Nym could take him down if he gets too riled up.

Edit: Chat site was changed to the IRC #Wizards, but I'll keep the old link up if anyone wants to access what we've talked about.

Enjoy. :)

Yo Vena. Could you link that chat someone in the first page?

Zordon said Goals

  • Perfecting his skills with the Wolfsbane Potion

  • Or an entire cure for Lycanthropy

Potion Making

  • Since only three out of five Wolfsbane Potions are successful, he's usually making backups.

Nym is a small master of potions. She could help out. And Bert might get along with her, since she can turn into a direwolf. She might hold him back but I think her lynx might fight you to the death. XP

Zordon said Astronomy (-100)

  • He would do anything to not stare at a diagram of a dozen different moons. It's a panic attack waiting to happen.

Too funny!

Zordon said Apparition (1)

  • His skills are only just developing at the dangerous and precise branch of magic.

Can we just clarify that once he turns into a werewolf, he's dangerous and can't use his wand, any of his possessions, any other kind of magic, or apparate? I'd like to believe (God modding aside) that he would have the simple mind track of an animal. Smell flesh and blood = devour.

So as it happens, I can't find out how to do it... Yet again I made another, but it's still mibbit. Observe! The OOC Chat! I think, as long as we use our guild names, we'll get by?

I awaken at an absolutely unnatural hour (Four thirty. IN THE MORNING. How do people do this?) only to see that both the chats are empty.

I suppose I shall wait in the shadows for everyone to come through the woodworks.
