Gretchen has the ability to manipulate light. The extent of power and control over the electromagnetic radiation is currently unexplored and untapped. The efficacy and power of her abilities are determined by how augmented or depowered Gretchen is in the presence of light – the dimmer, the weaker; the brighter, the stronger. The Sun is her best friend, but any source of light will work. She does not drain them, but simply is empowered by it – like a plant, you may say.

Her photokinesis allows her to perform photonic mimicry, where she can change her physiology and become a form of pure light. In this state, she becomes as intangible and uninterrupted as light itself. She may choose to convert only parts of her body into light, and only they will have abilities.

As light itself, she may run at high speeds (normal-instant: [500 mph / 805 km/h]), and jump and drop at great distances unharmed, unstoppable in her path unless across an obstacle where light may not pass through. Furthermore, she may, though haphazard and erratic, bounce off of reflective surfaces, this requiring mathematical precision in trajectory and velocity for proper radiance. Whether she can fly is not yet discovered, but she may run on water with the previously mentioned technique.

She has an unexercised, uninvestigated, perhaps limited, light solidification. Her only understood experience of this was with turning parts of her body into light, giving her enhanced strength and durability to engage in fights. Her strength is only as potent as that of an Olympian athlete, and the bizarre virtuosity of which light may act as armour for Gretchen, as unnatural as it may be, is capable of stopping bullets – any more force than that though, and the light shatters back into its natural form.

Whether she may learn how to project light beams and blasts is unknown.

Finally, when in light-form, she will leave behind a rainbow trail – when running or simply waving her hands around - the spectral dissociation of light unknown in reason but collocated with her superpowers.

Abilities/Skills:

Genius-level intellect – Her ability to move at fast speeds does not affect how quickly she thinks. However, she was a natural born genius, quick to analyzing, processing and cataloging information with an intelligence quotient of 190.

Biography:

Gretchen Williams was the product of two love-struck professors in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Experts in cosmology and theoretical physics, they were one of the only few in the scientific sect, and they were highly secured for their esoteric, highly valuable knowledge. Job security was ensured, but their hold on life as they grew older was not, so Gretchen was their brainchild of continuing their legacy in the science field.

What resulted was a middle-class family of three, situated in a quiet place in Rhode Island. The parents focused on their academic work while their child prodigy was a natural in problem-solving commensurate to university undergraduates. But her incredible acumen fostered a great arrogance and intolerance for the boring and mundane. Nothing excited her in her own house, and while her parents busied away with their paperwork, Gretchen would leave and commit deviance.

Gretchen quickly gained notoriety both because she was infamous for engaging in small-case robberies, joy-riding and destruction of public property, leaving without scratch or harm, and also because she grew up with stunning, ravishing beauty. She knew better than to take any dangerous drugs, smoking or drinking, maintaining strict teetotalism in her lifestyle of ensuring her brainpower never becomes inhibited.

But what caught the authority’s attention was a spree of unsolved crimes. Loot was stolen but always returned at the respective police stations. No evidence would ever be left behind. Eyewitness reports and security camera footage only detailed seeing a bright, brief rainbow trail that would enter and leave the scene of the crime in a matter of a second. Gretchen’s powers had come from nowhere, no matter how much theory-crafting she conducted. Wherever they came from though, she used them in her acts of defiance and clever publicity stunts to mock authority and break down security compounds. This was her new form of excitement, and she relished in it like ecstasy.

The authorities only managed to catch and seize Gretchen in her vulnerable state of heavy slumber. In her sleep, where there was not enough light in the night sky for her to outwit, outmaneuver, and overpower the captors, she was taken, placed in an opaque box.

With the heart and vision to protect the nation and its people, and mind to rehabilitate Gretchen, she has been assigned to the Academy to control and educate her. God only knows whether this will satiate Gretchen’s thirst for excitement.

Gretchen is 6’1” (185 cm). Gretchen has straight wavy white/blonde hair that reaches her shoulders. She has a pear-shaped body figure, her birthing legs a result from exercise with her constant running, her body mass index tipping over normal from overcompensation with muscle strain. Gretchen’s complexion is light, bordering pale.

Her ordinary attire is smart-casual, with her fair share of luxury products, rolled up polo’s and jeans.

She loves using bright-red lipstick, almost like a trademark.

Personality:

A proud and condescending demeanour explains Gretchen’s attitude towards many things. Her genius can inhibit her from understanding anything beyond their denotative meaning. Because many things can bore her, she’s always looking for new things to excite her. She is more than ready to defend her active stance, ready to boast her intelligence. Her restlessness, recklessness and arrogance can betray her collected, organized analytical mind.

She can be sociable and polite, a telltale sign of her well-monitored upbringing, not completely amoral and unable to be empathetic. She can be annoyingly happy-go-lucky and stupidly optimistic, only because her confidence and thrash-talking is legitimately backed up with a mensa high IQ and superpowers.

Karl, was abandoned on the doorstep of his fathers School for mutants, immediately Charles believed him when he said "You're my father"
Charles only just started noticing Karl's mutant symptoms, sending him to an Academy where he sent most of the mutants, after certain agreement.
Karl never kept to himself, he always tried to help and now it's his time to learn how to use his abilities, he never wondered who his mother was, never questioned at all.

Charles watches over Karl every step of the way.

Like father, like son, expect intelligence from this young boy.
