Zombie Badlands

Long story short, I was looking for a zombie RP in the interest checks, and found none. I wish to rectify the situation. Is there anyone else out there who wants to take on the hordes of undead with me?

I was thinking that this RP could be fairly open in terms of character creation. Well, as open as the limitations of a human character can be anyway. Your character can be any person you can think of. The president, a wandering salesman, some lady who was on vacation in the Bahamas and has no idea how she got here, or even a hobo if you so wish.

This will be a survival RP so your character may die off, but where's the reward if you have no risk, right?

So for a quick update on my thought processes for this, I have planned out some of the more plot-intensive details, and have the world totally fleshed out in my mind.
I'm thinking that we will start somewhere on the eastern coast of the U.S.

I'm open to suggestions on whether or not the story should start during, before, or after our characters meeting each other though.

Unless of course you were aiming to be a character that should not start with the party, like the president who would have duties to uphold in the capitol, or any person which has a clearly defined position of power that would prevent them from being on the coast. In which case you would start wherever you are needed.

I think it should start before characters meet. Or during (early on, perhaps), so not all characters are by themselves to begin with, also so they're not all together. Characters and groups can run into each other and either join together or go their separate ways.

Though how hard do you say it'll be to survive? Because I quite like zombie/apocalypse RPs where you have to try hard to survive - where food and supplies are scarce, and you can't even trust the water (needing to purify it via boiling and cooling before even using it). That would also force people to stick together to survive.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the difficulty of survival at around 7.5-8.

I would imagine that the water would still be, at the very least, consumable. Some sources of water would obviously be more hazardous than others though, and many will probably leave the characters with some short-term parasites/illnesses. Maybe even one or two long-term ones if our characters get unlucky.

As for food we are going to have to scavenge up food when we get the chance, which won't be often early on. Also we are going to have to keep a constant supply of gas to make any progress, and of course ammo supplies will have to stay stocked to kill any significant amount of zombies, and I'm planning for the zombies to be very hard to kill so sticking together would be the best idea for actually making it through this alive.

All in all we're in for one hell of an uphill climb. With a few twists of course.

The very beginning will be a cakewalk until we get a mode of transportation though.

Alright I've never seen/played Walking Dead, it's not going to be as dark as Resident Evil 4, I've never played Left 4 Dead either, and I've never played Dead Island.

The closest thing I can approximate it to is probably a mix of Organ Trail, and imagine a more serious version of the movie Zombieland, within a Resident Evil Extinction-like world.

Don't get me wrong when I say it won't be as dark as Resident Evil 4 though, this world is out to kill us. It's just not going to have a million cultists hunting us down with the zombies.

Not that there won't be others out there hunting us down though...

I already have a really good plot going on for my character's appearance! I personally would like it if my person could make their appearance a few days or even a week after the whole initial outbreak. Either way though I can mix it up based upon whatever everyone else decides!

Well the story starts 2 years after the initial outbreak and 1 year after everything hits the fan. If you wanted to allude to the past throughout the RP, that would be fine though.

Just noticed something I don't like about this board, quoting screws up formatting.

When I say like Walking Dead or like Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Dead Island, etc I meant will there be super zombies, special zombies with awesome powers, or whatever you want to call them. I like playing video games with super zombies but when it comes to text RPGs and movies/tv shows they kind of ruin it for me.

In the Walking Dead tv show (never read the comics) all the Zombies are exactly the same, except for the ones who died wearing riot gear but the Zombie itself is one hundred percent identical all the other zombies.
