I am still around, Ramzam, if you want to post. I'd welcome the creative poke, so to speak.

Sorry to see you go, Milkman. Good luck with your RL stuff ^^

I'll look into making a post latter, though if you wouldn't mind editing in what I need to be doing for the briefing part I can respond to that too.

Well, I'm currently waiting to hear if we have two new players joining or not - I'm waiting on one to edit their sheet as requested, and the other to post theirs. If we do get them joining, then I'll edit the briefing to include them in the roster for the mission, and address them as having transferred in during the week we were all training together to replace dropouts/casualties (and OOC dropouts too), and team you with one or both of them at another objective. I'll be away over the weekend, so I'll give that until Sunday PM to be addressed, and if there's no movement on it then I'll just edit the post to include your character and cook up a bit of a reshuffle on the team so that you're out in the field with one of the groups. Either way, I'll keep you informed.

Looks good to me - the only thing of note to mention is probably to drop the references to the UMP-45, Beretta M9, and the .50BMG as no real-world weapons exist in the setting. The weapons themselves are fine, of course. Regarding personal history, if you can just PM it to me, then that'll be fine - I prefer to have it for my own reference when I'm plotting and planning, so I can weave elements of peoples' backstories into things once things get moving a bit more and we get into the plot a bit more. Regarding Kitsune Peril being old too, I imagine it's probably a contemporary of the earlier models of my own GEAR, so alongside one another they're in the process of being phased out and replaced with newer models, slowly but surely, but still plenty of them in service. So yeah, if you edit the weapon descs and PM me over your personal history, I'll consider him to be approved.

Weapon details have been altered, while small corrections to spelling, grammar and content errors have been made as well.

And yes, Kitsune Peril would be one of the more common GEARs. Also, I'm unsure if GEAR loadouts or weapons are exclusive to the characters the RPers choose to use. If not, I'd assume Arcade's chosen kit would be accessible to NPCs and players alike if desired, though the Aeon series of weapons are probably not very popular among pilots due to their greater weight and higher degree of risk as opposed to other weapon technologies.

Fun fact: I was also playing around with a light-gas rifle, autocannon variant that used HEAP/HEAT gyrojet cartridges and even some form of scramjet cannon (or something along those lines).

A lot of this stuff I borrow from actual real-world technologies, which I typically throw into my own sci-fi creations.

I'll be sending the history bit sometime later today.

Also, I'm unsure if GEAR loadouts or weapons are exclusive to the characters the RPers choose to use.

Well, the main idea behind GEARs is that they're like modern-day fighter jets or attack helicopters when it comes to their weaponry, and it's all mounted in hardpoints that can be swapped and changed around to suit different mission profiles, so that the weaponry can be tailored for various encounters and situations. Interchangable fittings and mountings for all sorts of weaponry and equipment as needed, that can be swapped over at base, so if you need a sniper rifle this time instead of a machine gun, it's just a swap at base. Or a missile launcher instead of a Vulcan Cannon, etc etc.

Regarding the tech behind them too, that's the kind of stuff I had in mind from the get-go as well; since the setting is supposed to have tech that's not uber-advanced, but is up on our own modern-day tech, things like the technologies you mention would be quite likely to be in place with the bugs ironed out. Electrothermal propellants, caseless cartridges, electric ignition and so on and so forth would all be pretty cool to have along as well.

I look forward to seeing the history. I'll try and add your character to the OP when I have a chance, however I'm going to be away for a tabletop RP from Friday evening, and back on Sunday, so it might not be until after that, as I'll likely be busy tomorrow as well packing, on top of doing my normal evening chores and routine.

Ok awesome ^^

Me and you still need to talk IC about things. If I'm gonna be the strategist, we'll need to form a tight relationship.

Name: Kuraiko Aihara

Age: 24

Race: Tundra Wolf

Appearance:

Personality: Kuraiko is a purebred soldier. Having had most of his family serve as GEAR pilots or infantrymen, he followed suit as a GEAR pilot. His personal sufferings hardened him, but have not tore away compassion. His desire to protect his comrades in arms and Landren himself make him a loyal soldier. It also makes him a ruthless fighter when it gets close to the borders. In combat, he is ruthless, he can spot the meanest of the threats, and easily rip it from this world. If a comrade calls for aid, Kuraiko would walk through Hell and high water to help his siblings in arms.

Personal History: Kuraiko never had a solid home, always roving about as his father was a soldier, and their home changed with where he was stationed at the time. So Kuraiko never had a solid friendship or relationship. That is until Sarah, a small, meek Arctic Wolf in the countryside. They met after his father left the service to live a calm life out there. Sarah and Kuraiko were inseparable, always finding ways to see one another. Until about two years into their little romance. Kuraiko was sent to grab some of his father’s old personal effects he left at his last station, which was only an hour away. As he returned, he saw a plume of smoke over the last hill before his home. He hurried home as fast as he possibly could. When he arrived, saw that his housed was burned to the ground. His family, and Sarah, shot, execution-style, along with a taunting note from either bandits or the Northern Empire, saying “This soldier died like the weakling he was.”. For a few months he roamed Landren, carrying little other than his father’s cutlass, which is what he retrieved that fateful day, after a while he enlisted in the LDF. Feeling that they could point him in the direction of the monstrous people who committed the vile act.He was quickly assigned to the GEAR program after basic because of his unique talent for offensive engagements, and how he can end them rather quickly, harshly, and efficiently. His skill lies in combat and controlling the fight with brutal charges into the side, back, or if need be front of the enemy line.

Personal Weapons and Equipment: Kuraiko always carries, along with the GEAR survival kit and sidearm. His own personal high-caliber pistol that he purchased after working a couple of years., and his fathers cutlass, which he had personally made as he traveled, where, Kuraiko doesn’t know or how it was made. It’s blade is an average of 28.75 in. of Lightweight alloys, that even though it seems light as a feather, it is a as deadly as any projectile weapon. one good hit with it and its a guaranteed kill.

Personal Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGcsIdGOuZY

GEAR Name: LWX“Blitzkrieg”

Serial Number: LWX-7HL-RTZ

Appearance:
(ignore the giant red ball in the chest.)
Role: Multi-role (Assault and Overwatch specialty)

Normal loadout: a 40mm Assault rifle that shoots at 800 Rpm, the rifle has a 350 round drum magazine, an underbarrel shotgun, and a hybrid sight, which can switch from 2x, to a 5x scope.
In both forearms sit blades that are designed to cut and perforate the systems and armor of a GEAR, as the blades have a small amount of current running through them as long as they are unsheathed and given the proper command.

On one shoulder hides a zoom optic to augment aim on a high speed advance, chase, or other engagement. Can also enhance

On Biltzkrieg’s left hip sits a Dual-shot revolver, armed with rounds that arm on impact, and detonate on command from a detonator on the pistol. Holds six rounds in chamber.
Blitzkrieg has plate knuckles and bladed knee plates and elbow guards, allowing for lethal CQC, and just looks hardass.

Other Equipment includes:
Extra storage space for ammunition.
A survival kit for if he gets stranded
A jump jet system that can mimic a skating motion, and can carry him upward if need be, giving him advantages, especially in urban and rocky terrain.
The cockpit of Blitzkrieg is larger to accommodate Kuraiko’s size of 6” 0’

Blitzkrieg can also be outfitted with more optical augmentations to aid in his overwatch and recon operations. Also if need be, the GEAR has a tech outfitting that give it a stealth function, primarily IR and radar distortion.

Blitzkrieg holds the standard sensory functions of night vision, infrared sight, both have a full zoom option, allowing for advance scouting before an attack.

Other notes: Blitzkrieg has the latest OS software, and has mainly been used by the Aihara family. The GEAR Kuraiko uses knows him so well. That it mimics his unnatural need to move sometimes. sometimes randomly tapping its foot whilst waiting for deployment.

Also, the Blitzkrieg is designed to endure, so its power cells are made to last as long as possible in the field.

Okay - Winter, Shadow and ASTA; your characters have been added to the OP, and I've also included all of your characters in the edited briefing, along with some revised information in the briefing about the terrain. Our first experience with the infamous Badlands magnetic distortions! (in any incarnation of the RP, to boot!)
I've also added a note for Amelia to meet with Silver to discuss strategy and the upcoming op, as Winter suggested.

As previously mentioned, I will be away from tomorrow evening until Sunday, and will have little-to-no internet access at that time, so I'll update and reply to any posts after this evenings' ones when I return on Sunday. I'm off table-top gaming again, and two of my friends from Canada are returning to their Home And Native Land after spending a year living in the UK.

@Aristo I've seen dozens of boxes with that game where I live, I was sooo tempted to try it out. Is it good? And on that note, does anyone play DUST Tactics? WWII with mechs :P

Also, I'm not sure if I should post a reply to Ram right now or wait for other players to write stuff

If you have a local game store where folks play the game, or know of anyone who's interested, it's definitely worth a try. The mechanics are pretty unique; you choose to maneuver your ship using a dial with different maneuvers, which you put face-down next to your ship. The maneuvers correspond to templates that are used to guide ships from position to position. There's a bit of guesswork regarding where your ships and those of your opponent are going to end up. Ships come with pilot cards, some being generic, others are characters from the movies or Extended Universe. Each costs a certain number of points, and you can also add upgrade cards that come with ships (though you'll only find certain upgrades in certain packs). There's a bit of a learning curve for sure, but there are lots of articles and resources to turn to that are helpful for newbies. I've just been at it for a few weeks and I'm hooked - got a decent collection of Imperials so far.

It's worth it to check out a couple YT videos of tournaments and battle reports to see if it's something you'd be into.

Unfortunately, I don't play any minis games at all - I'm actually spectacularly awful at wargaming, and the few ones I am interested in, there's no one in my local area or peer group who would be remotely interested in playing any of the games I do find interesting.

Sorry to say this, guys, but I think I might have to drop out for now. I'm just finding it hard to find the time or, if I do get time, the motivation to post these days - it's not just GEARs, either, I'm feeling the same way across my RPs on other sites too. I think I may need to take a break for a while.
