Primavera, Sandro Botticelli, 1482.

TL;DR Summary
- Fantasy World
- GM's: Ruby, Zacharius and HeySeuss
- Each Player controls a deity in a pantheon; they may be part of the current pantheon, the child of a god recently raised to divinity, a human given divinity or part of the pantheon that came before and was overthrown.
- The father of the Pantheon is dead; a conspiracy brought him low. His position is vacant and being fought over.
- There is more than one dynasty of gods; there is a prior generation of exiled/outcast/overthrown deities and they are playable and they are powerful, particularly with the King of Gods overthrown.
- Some deities are the patrons of a city or nation, but this is not really a nation RP.
- Greco-Egyptian-Mesopotamian style pantheon; in the style of the Greeks, the Gods will be flawed, jealous, striving among each other and deceitful bastards for the most part; they may be divine, but they sure as hell aren't omnibenevolent. They are the tantruming child-kings of all they see, indulgent and spoiled.
- Advanced Standards; 2 paragraphs minimum
- Active collaboration; suggestions welcome from players regarding setting and so forth. Creativity and initiative encouraged.
- Important: Keep the OOC civil, bring up concerns about other characters and players to the GM in PM and do not harass people to post, bring concerns to the GM in PM so he can handle it.
- This isn’t a nation RP. If you’re interested in proving strategic genius rather than creating a cool RP with a story, this isn’t your RP at all.
- From here on out, there are now contested and uncontested actions; if you don't want to contest an action all is well -- plot away. It becomes collaboration where two players work out the conflict amongst themselves. A contested action means that you're throwing it to the ground ruling of a GM.

Alrighty. My foremost idea is a bit out there, so I'll try to explain it to the best of my ability.

The war god of the previous, overthrown pantheon was known by most as a God of Blood. He was a raving, half-mad berserker type (think "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD") that demanded human sacrifices from his worshippers. Very Aztec-esque. He's so reviled by the other gods, that they do their best to thwart his attempts at having children. The one child that he does manage to sire with a mortal woman is then cursed (hopefully by a willing Sun God) so that he cannot stand the light of day, shares his father's bloodthirst in a far more literal sense, and any of his blood share this curse. He is, in effect, the first vampire. This is my character.

He spends his nights as a demigod scheming to take his revenge on the gods and building a stable population of vampires in the mortal world. Not only do "those of his blood" share in his curse, but they also inherit a small portion of his divine power. After centuries his plans come to fruition, and he stages a grand sacrifice to summon his father, who he then traps. He then consumes his father, down to his very soul, thus elevating himself to full divinity.

This more or less "cures" his curse, but he has inherited his father's need for blood offerings. To accommodate this in a more civilized age, he has taken patronage of medicine, and receives more than enough blood offered in his name from its many misguided practices. He would also be patron of such things as parasites, betrayers, bastards, pariahs, and orphans. He's just as hated by the other gods as his father was, but there is also a considerably element of fear, as he still retains his ability to cannibalize other gods.

Tl;dr: Cannibal vampire god of medicine and outcasts, son of bloodthirsty war god.

Interesting. Let's see what comes of it.

Addendum: But in all honesty? All the gods can murder each other and steal powers/portfolios/spheres of influence. That power is not unique.

I'll get a CS up soon. Though in regards to the addendum, it's all in the method of it. He very specifically eats the other gods and devours their souls. Not a pleasant process for the victim, as you can imagine.

I definitely want to join this, looks like fun.

I was thinking for my character she would be born from blood spilled in battle of the God of the Water/Ocean, mixing with the salt waters of the sea. Her immediate sphere's of influence would be battles at sea and female warriors, more specifically those born close to the ocean. I was thinking the place she was claimed to have been born could be called the "Boiling Sea" since it is said the heat from her birth caused it to forever boil.

Just a rough idea, but what do you think?

It's hard for me to really downcheck general ideas; the trouble tends to come with the details. I don't see a problem with that concept, but the reality is that for me to really approve, I gotta see the sheet. ;)

I'm hoping to take position as Malebazus's ruler, and as a goddess of storms and the dead. I don't know how much we're allowed to dictate what Malebazus was like, but I was thinking I might have the ability to do so, given how little has been described of it besides where it's positioned. I thought the whole "fire and brimstone" concept of Hades could be given a new spin.

Nanaeios, the Goddess of Malebazus, rules over her stormy kingdom with a solemn melancholic air. Malebazus appears as a vast plains with countless crags sprouting from its surface. Eternal storms far more violent than any experienced on Lymaeus rage for eternity, drowning the lands in perpetual floods and impassable muddy terrain. The dead wander Malebazus slowly, impeded by lakes that come and go, drowning them in heavy waters, or sunken in bogs littered with skeletons. Their bodies either continue to wander or become so exhausted that they can only fall face-first into the murky plains, or float atop rivers alongside the other dead. Those dead souls of especially nefarious nature experience their time in Malebazus in a much worse way; they are constantly stricken by lightning, searing their water-logged skin in flames that even the storms cannot extinguish.

Nanaeios is the patron of the storms, the dead and sirens, bane of sailors and shipwrights. Her cries are the rains, and her screams the crack of lightning. In her past Nanaeios was simply goddess of the seas, and was betrothed to the past god of death whom she deeply loved. For some reason that has yet to be decided, she was separated from this god, and fell into despair, becoming the first storms and hurricanes. Yearning for his presence, she found solace in taking his position, feeling it to be closest to him in the flesh. Mortals claim this sadness is what fuels such terrible storms that plague their lands. Sirens unleash their enthralling songs as poems of Nanaeios's laments, promising love unto mortals as deep as hers.

Nanaeios is often depicted as a beautiful young woman, with skin as white as the lightning that heralds her arrival, or as pale as death, depending on who is describing her. Those that feel pity for her claim the former, while those that suffer from her storms say the latter. The immense coat she wears upon her shoulders is a memento of her husband, which is believed to be capable of turning into black wings not unlike the harpies that she supposedly bears.

Ruling Malebazus is one thing, but Aroesus had control over the imprisonment of deities on Lake Sharzunates. So in a sense, her authority would be under that of Aroesus who would keep her as a warden over mortal souls. When Aroesus dies, Malebazus becomes way more chaotic as a result.

As to killing deities, it's generally more difficult to kill the Dream goddess within the dream or the Sea deities in the ocean and so forth. We'll have to fine tune that for some concepts, but I think it could hold. For example, a deity of violence might be undone by subterfuge.

Warden with a potential to become a ruler. After all, crisis and opportunity. I'm pretty sure Aroesus let her do whatever she wanted down there so long as the trains ran on time.

I want to make a CS, but I feel like I should PM the concept first to the GM before I start.

Also, can there be deities technically unaffiliated with the current and previous pantheons?

They'd be renegades/outcasts, probably. Aroesus was authoritarian and order minded, such a being probably was in constant danger of some sort. But it's fine by me, depending on what the sheet looks like.

Speaking of which, are you going to put up a character sheet of Aroesus, so we can get more specifics on what he was like?
