History: Dae tends to be extremely tight lipped about 'her' past, as do many other members of her enigmatic, shapeshifting race. 'She' claims to be in her early twenties, but at times makes offhand comments and refers to cultural keystones from a far older time. Whether this shows a deeper knowledge of the galaxy than 'she' likes to let on, or shows 'her' personal history to be something far more involved than 'she' lets people know is just another mystery about the strange alien and 'her' true motives.

Personality: A twisted puzzle with many facets, Dae has the ability to switch moods on a dime in order to gain the best advantage in any given situation. Sometimes flirty and funloving, and other times cold and direct, the onyx enigma rarely lets those around know 'her' true feelings or motivations until the outcome is certain.

Allegiance: Herself. Dae's allegiances are fluid and sha shows no real loyalty to anyone other than her own unknown agenda.
Occupation: Facilitator
Personal Effects: Dae carries few possessions with her, preferring instead to procure whatever she needs as requirement appears.
Other: As a shapeshifting Erkani Dae's gender is fluid, although she seems to prefer a female form in most situations.

Other: Similar to the Erkani's own shapeshifting nature, their space vessel technology is highly adaptive and although the 'standard' appearance of their ships is a featureless sphere they can be reconfigured into virtually any shape to suit the crew's needs.

The internal systems are also adaptive, with components being shifted between roles depending on the situation. This can allow Erkani vessels to fly faster, withstand more damage and have more powerful weapons than other races, but always at the expense of other features as engine power is transferred to weapons or hull generation or vice versa.

What level of shapeshifting do Erkani possess?

1 - Camoflague: Retain their shape and size, but can alter their outward appearance to disguise themselves as other members of their own race or physiologically similar ones (e.g. any humanoid race.)

Camoflagued form

2 - Form shifting: Retain their basis shape (number of limbs, etc.) but can change their size to take on new forms.

Big and Small

3 - Zoological transformation: Can transform into the shape of any known creature, but only gain the attributes the physical form would provide (gills = breathe underwater, wings = flight, etc.)

Beast Walker

4 - Full mimickry - Can transform themselves into any known lifeform, and gain all attributes and abilities native to that lifeform (psionics, cultural bonuses, etc.) Can transform into basic machines with moving parts, but not chemical, electrical or radiological components.

Doppelganger

5 - Fluid form: Their true form is a liquid mass, and they can reshape themselves into any shape at will. They can mimic any individual close enough to fool close friends and family. Can form complex machines and devices.

How easy is Erkani shapeshifting? Could Dae dodge around a corner and moments later step back in a completely different form, or would she have to 'cocoon' herself for several hours or days to metamorphose into a new form? Could she shapeshift her limbs during combat to form weapons?

@Genni A mixture of camouflage, full mimicry and form-shifting. They gain no physical abilities from shapeshifting, but can take on the likeness of any being of similar size and shape. This just happens to include Humans, the Golon, and the Havikka. They must have an extensive knowledge of the species they wish to shapeshift into in order to do it convincingly. This includes emotions, mannerisms, body language, etc. They can shapeshift into the desired form in a matter of seconds, but doing so and maintaining for takes energy and effort.

Name: Finn Olsen
Nicknames: Old Finn, Captain Olsen
Race: Human
Age: 43 (looks around 60)
Gender: Male

Appearance: classic old deep sea fisherman look: grey beard, yellow jumpsuit, pipe, etc.

History: Finn grew up on a small space station, and to this day has only stepped onto ‘real’ ground twice. With his parents having left to seek out a future amongst the stars he was raised by his grandfather who worked as an interstellar lifeguard, he grew up on stories of how his great grandfathers worked on rescue boats and as fishermen in what was the North Sea. He inherited his grandfathers trade, as well as most of his personality, and lives a solitary life waiting to help those who have become trapped in the cold depths of space. Unfortunately for Finn being a lifeguard doesn't allow the most glamorous of lifestyles, despite donations from grateful people he has rescued, this means in order to keep the lights on he is forced to take up mercenary work from time to time as an escort for ships carrying goods or to help people find lost ships.
This means that over the years he has built up a wide web of connections to people he has helped or worked with in the past, chances are if you need something done Finn knows just the guy and they probably owe him a favour, though he is rarely known to call them in himself as he doesn't want to bother people with his problems.

Personality: Though Finn may look and act like your typical grumpy ship captain on the inside he is warm, welcoming and always willing to help, though experience has led him to be suspicious of strangers who have conveniently decided to turn up in the middle of a job.
Always there for a friend, between his jobs and favours he is no stranger to adventure and has journeyed across space with various groups of people and will happily ramble on for hours about his past endeavours assuming you don't fall asleep; in which case you will wake up wrapped in his musty coat with him patiently waiting to restart his story.
Despite this he does prefer to be alone, and contrary to him often helping others he prefers to solve his own problems himself, he doesn't seek fame of fortune he just wants to live the out his days in relative peace though that will never keep him from helping those in need.

Equipment:
Antique magnetic harpoon: an old railgun from when humanity first ventured into the stars, capable of shooting armour piercing harpoons at long range.
Magnetic boots: name says it all, boots which allow him to walk on ship hulls
Bionic right eye: allows him to zoom in his vision to see long distances and in infrared, handy for finding people trapped in ship wreckages.
Finn’s list: a list of good friends, contacts and people who owe him favours saved onto a data chip in his false eye.
Good knowledge of space: not really a piece of equipment but he knows how to navigate most of the space within the Empire of humanity like the back of his hand.
Poor knowledge of planets: again not really equipment but after spending nearly his entire life in space he has trouble coping with the dense sprawl of cities and consistent gravity.

Allegiance: the Grey family
Finn has worked with the Greys on a few occasions, all starting with him saving Emily Grey’s cousin George who had become stranded in space (which happens to be the story of the second time he set foot on a planet). This ended up with him taking jobs for them, though mostly for George and never for the queen herself. This has led to him quite liking the Greys and most of them will know him at least by sight if not by name.

Opinions:
Aliens: His grandfather helped the alien refugees a lot in the Harbingers migrant crisis and Finn has done his best to continue his work, helping refugees reach Human worlds and getting them settled in to life amongst humanity, introducing them to people he knows as well as adding these aliens to his list of contacts if he ever needs help. This has made him fearful of the Harbingers, having heard too many horror stories from the aliens he's helped out to ever want to journey too far out of the Orion Spur as well as dread the consequences should they ever invade.

Has always wanted ago at killing the legendary white mobius space whale...

Any feedback? I'm not sure if I've gone too far into the stereotypical grumpy sea captain character.

@Kipsateking Well the competitors are essentially the Addisons and Alvirstein. Subdividing each family into each person who has their own goals in mind will just unnecessarily complicate things.
