thats her dad, it was just a joke about whole evil points. her dads career influnced her outlook.

She works doing cyber security for a big company in the city and just has a slightly grey viewpoint from that upbringing and works for money not morals so much, aka willing to work for defense contractors etc.

not evil, just grey.

It's interesting. On one hand, Ashton probably feel a bit uncomfortable since she was part of the military..

Yet on the other, she'd still try to look for all the good.

Reason why in the end, she quit being a soldier (besides medical leave).... she's just too soft :P

Though I'd say even if Thomas works for moral cause (like the thesis he works on), he had his concerns about the extremism that can come as a result. Though he is a genuinely nice dude. Gonna need some people to trigger that bad side of him
