Sirius Free & Hanson Seuclid | @Phoenix347

"That's right, Sir, that's exactly what he is. A kid and supremely in over his head. So please disregard my idiot brother," Tessa pleaded, a tightness to her words as she slapped Sirius' back again. Hoping he would finally get out of his mood.

It didn't register to Sirius that she had hit him again. In fact, he was far more entertained by the casual skill and offhanded childishness of The Corporal's gravity-free movement. It was fascinating and his curiosity had washed away the tension in his stance. He heard Tessa sigh something akin to relief a moment later. That snapped him back to what he had been feeling before, though now it was diluted by this new perception of the red soldier. He had to figure out a way to resolve the confusion inside himself and he figured the best option was to just be upfront.

Sirius snatched his flowing chain by the pendant haphazardly, losing his balance and beginning to spin in the hall. Tessa helped maintain his flailing, holding him sideways at first before righting him. She chuckled quietly, all the while griping for him to loosen up and stiffen out all at the same time. Once poised, Sirius latched a hand to Tessa's shoulder for balance before finding Hanson's bright eyes. He furrowed his brows, though a tentative smile lurked beneath his countenance. "No way! you can't have it-- Sir. And it's not a toy. Its important, I think... Besides, If I go down, this pretty thing goes down with me. I get the feeling its useless to anyone else."

He groaned thoughtfully, near hesitant.

Then smiled before stretching out his free hand. "Shake my hand, and you snapping at Tessa... well its space dust in my book... Sir. A-Also sorry for staring at you the way I did. The malice thing, y'know? It happens from time to time."

Nathan the ton in the General's voice, yeah he did it again, foot up in the mouth. He needs to work on that still, which is funny he had ten years to work on this but there are still times where his pride and upbringing still show through. He straighten up realizing his mistake that was his mouth and listened to every word the general said as he nodded in confirmation. But best not to tell him about the guy in the infirmary, let him find out about it himself.

"I will be there sir, and I won't let you or my commander down." He said plainly as he got up and saluted the general and took his last statement as a sign that he was dismissed. He turned around to leave the general's office, opening the door he let out a silent sigh on how poorly he read then room, he figured this was informal and let his les professional side through, have some fun. He forgot who he was in the room was with, and it backfired on him.

'Oh well, at least it was better then being chewed out verbally, but best not push it any further.' as he left the office he noticed a man waiting in a seat outside the Generals office, must be here to see the general as well.

"You're here to see the General? He should be free to talk." he said as he kept the door open to allow them in before leaving the admin building.

Roose's eyes widened and his salutatory stoic smile shrunk to a smirk as his superior officer called his thinly-veiled excuse of a bluff. Though he was just about to try and weasel his way out of his situation, his fellow soldier had started to speak. Clearly the situation she had found herself in was of greater severity than what Roose had done and so he stayed to listen, crossing his arms while nodding along as she recounted the events of what had just happened. Halfway through the story, Roose realized who she was and who she spoke of, though the only words he could let out was to comment under his breath with "I don't know about unavoidable", in reference to narrowly avoiding the stretcher on the way here. After Skye's story though, their commander began to chew her out about taking your vitamins or whatever as Roose tuned out completely from the sermon and focused on his comrade eating the inedible rations they served at the mess hall.

"You know, the Centurion's right. You shouldn't jeopardize the health of soldiers here, specially your own. So, I'm gonna grab that boar which got inside the base and commandeered one of our jeeps before I shot it dead and have the cooks serve it to you. Just between us three, I think the canned rations are actually older than the base itself." With a quick salute to both fellow squaddies, Roose stepped away before Tyr could hopefully followup with further questions. As he got out though, the results of his actions had stranded him back at square one except now there were added consequences if he didn't tidy it up. Ironically, having to fireman carry the boar towards the mess hall kitchen by himself was the furthest thing from tidy as pig's blood dripped on his favourite jacket on the way there. He would purposefully pass by Tyr and Skye to show that he was actually doing what he had said he would do.

As he arrived to the kitchen, Roose would dump the boar on the nearest table regardless of what had been on there before. "Alright, here it is lads. Like we spoke of yesterday, finest game in Iberia: jamón ibérico. Or rather it will be when you get around three servings for me now since I'm in a bit of a bind right now." The Carius' plea hopefully wouldn't fall on deaf ears.

"Clear as crystal, sir." Skye replied with a small salute and a not so small smile. She regarded Tyr with amusement as she continued to wolf down the pieces of cardboard masquerading as meat on her tray. It hadn't been the first time she had been stuck with a stuffy superior, but most of them were old men or women. At a glance Skye couldn't imagine her superior being more then a few years older then she was. The idea of having a superior potentially younger then her was amusing, though the humor became less pleasing when she realized she'd likely be that 'young' superior after another promotion.

Pushing away her try Skye's eyes went to the stranger, the Carius who had blurted out something about a boar and a truck. She tilted her head, regarding him with narrowed eyes as he started talking again. It was plain to tell he was backpedaling hard on his previous claim, though the idea he wasn't lying about a proper boar was more surprising. "And he's not wrong about the rations here. Its entirely possible that these were dug out of the ground like most of the Empire's equipment and mobile suits. After all if something like my Flag can sit preserved underground for centuries then canned food or retort pouches aren't off the table..."

As Roose walked past Skye looked down at her empty tray, the dark rapidly solidifying 'BBQ Sauce' left on it leaving unsettling thoughts about what she might have just eaten. Turning around Skye quickly shouted to to Roose as he headed towards the kithcen.

"If you're not lying out your ass about that boar I want my cut as a steak, and make it well done!" Skye watched Roose until he disappeared before turning her facing her superior. Still seated at the dining hall bench she regarded Tyr for a few moments before resting her head in her hands, adjusting her aviator sunglasses with a single finger.

"Why not take a seat, sir? If Boarman back there actually has what he claims then it seems we're in for a proper pre-flight meal for a change. Speaking of flights, do you have an ETA on when we actually get to launch? My baby has been sitting in the hanger for the past three hours prepped for space combat. I've been waiting on the greenlight so long that I feel like my skin is starting to crawl. I'm itching to get up into space and start doing some real work."

Hanson Seuclid, Sirius Free, Tessa Stride

"It was to both of you shiny." Hanson maneuvered himself into a proper position once again to face the man, holding himself steady with one hand as he reached his own out. He didn't take in his hand but rather gripped just past it at the wrist. "Don't be so sure what's trash to others, you'll find out soon enough how something useless in the past can change the present. If you intend to keep it fight for it with your life, otherwise you're not a proper soldier." Hanson pushed the man away in the zero-g, toward the assumed sister of his. Given the man's unsure attitude about the importance of the shining little cone, Hanson figured he was also another pod person, one of the unluckier ones. At least Hanson was able to keep the knowledge from his military days intact, what that kid remembered must not have been so important after all.

"If you are going to be up here at least be prepared to face death head on, in battle or when the airlock breaks open. And practice your maneuvering until it's natural. See you around kid, ma'am." Hanson tipped his head and gave a two finger wave to the woman before pushed off from the wall and proceeding down the hall, unsure if the kid would actually listen or just ignore his advice. Once he reached the cafeteria he observed the limited menu available, mostly vegetables from Cecilia from the looks of things, only a little beef in the form of sticky beef slices in a stir fry. The rest was soy, leaving Hanson with the one good choice of actual meat. While waiting he saw the two from before enter the cafeteria as well.

George nodded in confirmation to Nathaniel and watched him as he left, and as the door closed let out a large sigh. It would be perfect if he grew up like his father but learned the new conditions of the Empire's society. The general thought to himself before the door was opened once my by his assistant, notifying him the scavenger was here for the meeting, and one of the Intelligence boys was brought over to the infirmary, from hangar 3. Immediately he knew who was the cause, but decided to leave it alone to let the new centurion deal with the matter, until the next time he met with the girl. HE waved the assistant away who then ushered in the scavenger.

"Sir Gabriel, welcome. I apologize for the delay but you understand how chaotic the base becomes before such an operation." The general gestured to the seat as he moved behind his desk and sat down. "I expect the same amount of discretion and delicacy you provide for this launch, despite the questionable status of our newest team. Your experience will trump some of theirs when it comes to dissecting the latest find." George tapped the console on his desk, activating the screen on the side of the wall once more. "Four vessels of relative integrity, we can identify a Marilyn class and Alexandria class from universal century, then a freighter and smaller vessel, possibly a cruiser, we can not identify the exact origin of due to their relatively generic designs. We do expect them to be from the post disaster era. I'd like you to place your focus on the freighter and larger open ship. We're hoping to you can find more parts in each one at the very least, we won't be expecting mobile suits within them, that will be for the Alexandria class. From the looks of it it appears to be a standard warship so the odds of mobile suits available will be higher there. As for the last ship, only check it over for its viability. If it can be salvaged and brought back onto the Earth, do so. As a bonus, we will add on tickets to your pay if you wish to acquire any of the finds."

As the general spoke the images focused on the identified ships, presenting a familiar one next to it for confirmation. Although their data from the past is still filled with missing information, every new find holds the potential to fill in the gaps. Now the Empire has become quite adept at beginning to identify the vessels in space with their manufacturer and markings. Some were still elusive, especially the more simplistic designs which could be from any era. At the end, the General pulled out a copper ticket, a small metal plate with a inscription only the doctor could understand. "Hopefully the lack of gravity will not hamper your skills when you leave the Earth, and will feel greater than your paycheck when you return." he added with a smile.

Tyr's eyes followed the carius out the door, turning back to the girl as she shouted out after him before proposing for him to sit down. Tyr took in a deep breath before letting it out as a sigh, shaking his head to complete the irritation of the situation. He stepped around, pulling his headphones from his ears to rest around his neck as he sat on the metal plate called a bench across from the girl. "We're briefing in half an hour, even less now." He replied. "After that we'll be moved to the rocket launch area until the final checks are given and the operation begins. Your suit will be moved during the time between, and they're expected to give the utmost care to all mobile weapons being loaded, so don't injure another ally when they do their job. I'll also take an explanation to what truly happened after we return and I receive the medic's report."

Tyr stared at the remains of the rations on the girls' plate, it's true they weren't privy to the most exquisite of foods given their outbound location, only losing to the Atlantic Fleet in lack of quality. Still, the half deflated bread next to the sauced meat soaked up the thick liquid as best it could. "The best food goes to the north and east armies." he explained. "At least the best the soldiers get. Since they're fighting the Gols non-stop they need it. We rarely have to leave the base aside for training or a scavenger hunt in the belt. Meeting the canners also is likely, so don't eat too much or you'll throw up in your suit." He looked up as the man returned to the table after leaving the boar to the kitchen cooks, eager to have fresh game to cook up instead of frozen beef or poultry. Checking if it was bleed properly, they take it back into the kitchen to properly cut for its meat.

"My advice goes to you as well, don't fill yourself up for the mission, leave some for the rest of the crew." Tyr gestured his head behind him to the rest of the soldiers and base personnel in the mess hall enjoying the sauced meat, but the fresh smell of pork cooking begins to waft into the area and chatter picks up as word of the boar spreads. "How well will you both handle the launch? Your reports told me how many you each had, but not the experience. Of course, training launches are always less stressful." Tyr's eyes moved between the two, eyeing the seat next to the girl for the man.

As Roose emerged from the kitchen, he had a wide smile on his face and his left thumb held high, thanking the kitchen staff for their kind consideration as he exited. "Gonna be ready in ten minutes guys!" he would yell across to Tyr and Skye before walking towards them. As he returned to to the table, he had just caught the tail end of Centurion Tyr talking about the Gols and how the soldiers fighting them got better food. His mood shifted, with his smile turning to a sour expression to signify this.

"Hardly any better, in my opinion. Was stuck north for the past couple of years guarding the sticks and all the non-canned stuff were fish or blubber. I mean, I can't track down pigs or bears in freezing waters!.. Believe me, I tried." After a quick dietary intake advisory, the Centurion then moved on to asking both of his subordinates about their piloting experiences. Of course, every soldier in the Imperial Army knew about Everin Skye so Roose had taken the initiative to upsell himself to his commanding officer, lest he be thought of to be a burden.

"I'm gonna tell it to you straight, sir. Officially, this will be my third sortie barring the training sims but those are pretty much glorified arcade machines. Also, all three of those sorties were routine checkups to make sure the Zaku's boosters were calibrated correctly. But hey, there's a reason why I'm on this team." he would state, before taking off one of his gloves. The brand on his hand retained its charcoal umber though Roose doubted anyone this side of the peninsula knew what it meant. He would place it on the table, pointing to it with his other hand as he continued to speak. "This is a mark to signify that I was from the Tadamur tribe, whom I fought for from my childhood years until civilization came. After His Imperial Majesty incorporated Anatolia under his rightful domain, I operated as an auxiliary that hunted down whatever was asked for by the Armen garrison, and I never once failed to deliver. Traffickers hiding in the shifting sands, smugglers operating in the cold desert night, runaways hoping to find an oasis in the mirage..."

Just then, a cook from the kitchen had arrived at their table with three meals. One of them was the well-done steak Skye had asked for, another one was also a well-done steak but with bits of rosemary spread on top. The third one was also a well-done steak. "And of course the most in demand bounty, that of nature's. Hope you don't mind, we really can't risk worms so I asked them to just really cook it all until charred. Anyway, where was- Oh yeah. Space might not have sand dunes to stalk prey from but I bet you we'll trap fools just the same."

Roose would then reach out for one of the steaks not covered in rosemary. He hated the herb.

Sitting down in the offered seat, Gabriel would keep quiet as the General explained the operation to him. Focusing on the screen Gabriel would examine each of the ships. All four ships seemed like a great scavenging chance for the Empire especially since this will be their first time in outer space. Not only that but the Alexandria presented the biggest catch with it's mobile suit carrying abilities, even if they couldn't get the ship the chance to find and recover possible intact mobile suits was too good to pass up. Returning his attention back to General Eltz, Gabriel would speak.

"This is gonna be quite the operation General Eltz, all four ships are enticing targets especially the Alexandria as it presents the bigger chance of rare finds and scavenging. If possible can you provide me any sort of documentations, folders, data or schematics regarding these targets. I'll need as much information as possible to get a better idea of how the scavenging operations should go, speaking of which General Eltz. This operation, will I be the one leading things due to my skills and expertise? Or will I be serving as a counsel of sorts to an operational leader? Cause this will also affect how the operation proceeds."

In the back of his head Gabriel knew that he wouldn't be the leader of this operation, and would be placed in a counsel role. This operation was too important to have a contracted individual lead it, but Gabriel also knew that the Empire needed his skills and expertise, so he wanted to see what sort of authority he would be given and how it would affect his planning for this operation.

"Another thing. If we encounter enemies of whatever kind or nature, should the focus be on driving them off to resume operations or should we scavenge as much as we can then abandon the area with our salvage?"

Skye silently fist-pumped upon hearing the mere half an hour ETA to her launch. Immediately her impatient boredom gave way to elation. A proper smile spread across her face as she lifted her head off her hand, her back straightening as she drummed the back of her prosthetic legs against the bench beneath her.

"Yeah, yeah, we can handle on the boring crap once we get back planetside after the operation." Skye said with a dismissive wave. "And don't worry, the only people who are going to end up hurt or dead after between now and our return are the dirty canners we're bound to run into."

Skye's mouth twisted back into an grimace, teeth bared as she growled out the spacenoid slur. She could feel a warmth in the back of her throat just thinking about them. Already her excitement was dulled at the potential headache the incident in the hanger could cause. There was no fear in Skye's mind of actually being in any danger of suffering any meaningful punishment, but Tyr's tone and insistence was already grating on her nerves.

"Of course that inquiry is only going to happen if he comes back alive from this." Skye thought to herself, her face relaxing at the thought. "If this guy really is some tight-assed pencil pusher then the canners or Ghosts will pull him apart like fresh bread."

Her smirk returning Skye made an explicit point to ignore Tyr's cautionary warning regarding the food. After nearly drowning in her own vomit filled helmet early in her career, Skye had learned how to hold her lunch while flying. She also made it a point to never go into combat without feeling full.

Skye remained silent as Roose returned, listening only partially as she began to lose herself in her thoughts. The mention of the mere three sorties left Skye grimacing, rolling her eyes behind the obscuring safety of her dark aviator sunglasses. Silently praying that she wasn't the only member of the unit with real combat experience inside a suit.

The blue haired girl's dismay transformed to surprise however as Roose continued and she leaned over, staring at the man for a few moments in shock.

"Holy shit, Boarman. You're a headhunter?" Skye asked, momentarily suspicious of his claim. "That almost makes up for the fact that you're practically a toddler when it comes to MS combat. Still, if you can find the enemy like you found that pig, then we'll be doing more then bringing home the bacon!"

Skye gave Roose a wide smile, which grew even wider when the three steaks were set down on the table. Reaching forward she snagged one of the well done steaks and pulled it towards her. Knick and fork in hand she began cutting off bites and pressing them into her mouth. Immediately her eyes began to water as she chewed, feeling the soft crispy crunch of the charred, buttery exterior of the steak.

Was it a steak if the meat wasn't beef? Was it a porkchop if it was made from pork? Skye didn't know and didn't care in equal amounts. All that mattered was that the bits of animal flesh she put into her mouth tasted great. After a few moments of savoring the meat, Skye redirected her attention back towards her superior.

"I've flown sixty seven sorties since the start of my career." Skye said nonchalantly, clearing her throat as she chewed "And those are official, COMBAT, sorties. None of those glorified test flights or movie shoots they have me do for the propaganda reels. As for the unofficial sorties I've flown...I'll just leave that to your imaginations."

It was tempting to admit how much more she had done without the watchful supervision of her previous superiors, but Skye didn't want to risk ruining the taste of her steak with more empty threats from her headphones wearing Centurion. Taking another large bite, Skye continued.

"I have a hundred and seventeen confirmed MS kills to my name. I don't know how many on the ground targets I've killed, but I'm sure the barbarians down south have me to thank for so many less mouths to feed." Another piece of steak found its way into Skye's mouth as she basked in the warm glow of her accomplishments.

"As for launches..." Skye's chewing slowed and her smile shrank as her voice trailed off.

"It's been a while since I've gone up into space. Not for lack of desire of course. But the big-wigs have kept me skybound for quite a while."
Skye's grip tightened around her knife as she drove it through the top of her steak, slowly twisting it...

"But unlike some of the people here, I've actually gone up before. So whatever concerns you have, thrown them away. Going up is the easy part, it's what comes afterwards that's really dangerous."

The screen shifted between the four vessels sighted as George turned his body to face the scavenger. He pulled out a folder containing some of the known information on the identified vessels, what they could gather from secondary sources as much of the data devices on earth had been damaged over the years. Most of the information came from opposing factions or historians. "We have minimal details on them, we believe once you arrive and assess their stability from the exterior you can deduce the value of each. As for command..." George trailed off in contemplation to the newest centurion. "You will not be in command through out the operation, and I expect you to listen to the lead centurion for the duration of the launch. When approaching the vessels however you will have the lead for directing the salvaging teams. Inside of the vessels you will be in charge of the teams, but will listen to the command of centurion Fin.

"The majority of mobile weapons will remain on watch for any patrol from the colonies. The centurion in charge has been instructed to act appropriately should an interception team approach, or any ghosts activate inside." George shook his head at the thought of a remnant machine activating when approached, running an old program and attacking any unidentified combatant. "The soldiers will take care of them should they activate, and then you're to secure any mobile suit weapon, parts and inactive suits first, personnel weapons or equipment secondary. If you have time to acquire any additional items of interest such as data devices or terminals do so after the mobile weapons. Unless the colonists have improved their detection capabilities you should have time to move cargo from the vessels to the the HLVs before contact if all goes well. Our own men take precedence over equipment of course, so do not risk any one of my soldiers for a greater check."

Tyr cracked a smile at the Carius' mention of fish, being that his diet before the empire came was mostly fish. If he had a pole available on base, Tyr'd probably be at the docks waiting for a bite. It wouldn't be a bad activity to fill up his time when they get back at least. He raised his head as the easterner brought up his hand and revealed the black mark on his hand, written in a tribal language incomprehensible to him and probably most on the base. "Worry not, space may be a whole new battlefield to familiarize yourself with, before the debris belt was formed. You've got plenty of wreckage floating around to cover yourself or entrap an enemy in if you're quick enough. Being so fresh you'll work with the salvage crews to secure the ships, most of us will be on canner and ghost duty, including my Moebius." He took the final plate and patiently cut into it, chewing as the girl revealed her combat history.

His eyes followed the knife as Erverin stabbed it into her steak with hostility. "You're right, some of us have been up over a dozen times, such as Centurion Deryk Orgs. I'm sure you've heard of him before." Tyr motioned to Everin, knowing he has also been prominently shown as a dedicated member of the space force despite his age. His Newtype abilities have also added to his tale within the Empire. "He'll help guide you along like he did for me. I've been up there over thirty three times for active operations, seven for training or checks. My armor has seen thirteen of those, don't underestimate it when you see her. Pay attention in the briefing and don't ever leave the debris belt until the end, you're almost guaranteed to come back alive. If the ghosts and canners don't get you though, fighting them is completely different than fighting off your lucky sand searching tribesman, or the Gols. They get proper military training to use in those preserved suits." Tyr plunged a chunk of meat into his mouth at the mention of their enemy.

As he left he made his way towards the Mess hall as he hasn't had anything since breakfast and wanted to get something to eat before launch. When he entered, he noticed the smell of something he hasn't had in years, meat, cooked meat, real meat, and ran towards the table. Sadly for him they had just ran out of easily prepared meat and would take too long to get one prepared for him so he went with something hand held for his lunch as he didn't want to waste too much time with something that required a utensil and went with a sandwich with vegetables. It wasn't the best food but it would do better then that "Meat" they were serving and left the line as he looked around for a place to sit and maybe sulk over his bad luck.

While he was searching he noticed that Skye was with some guys, they both looked older then her. They seemed to be having a good time, well at least her and the older Armen guy. The man with the headphones seemed like he was serious, or it was his resting expression he couldn't tell. He was also extremely jealous that they got the meat, even though it was charred it still smelt divine in his nose. God when was the last time he had a meal that good? Too long and he missed his chance to enjoy himself with good food before the mission briefing, this was turning out to be a bad day to be him right now. He would hope that getting out into combat would lighten up his mood up significantly though.

He looked over the tables and decided he would crash Skye's party and joined them in their conversation sitting down next to Tyr, "So is this were the cool kids sit Skye? Carius Nathanial Hesse, its a pleasure to meet you two as well." he said introducing himself before taking a bite out of his sandwich, it was crunchy and dry, he wished he had gotten water as well.

As he plunged his silver fork to the center of his sliver of pork, Roose would take his other hand to steadily cut out the charred crust with its paired knife. The slices were precise and thin; it almost resembled the skill of a surgeon but definitely the frugality of a butcher. Besides that, he wasn't going to let burns ruin this perfect meal: both on his steak and on his lack of piloting experience.

"Well, Zakus practically pilot themselves." he would state diminutively after Skye's toddler comment, looking away and stuffing his mouth with cube cuts of meat afterwards. The kill count was impressive though, but not because of the amount itself. "You keep track, Carius Skye? No offence meant but I try not to remember the deaths of our enemies. It's taxing on the mind, specially as you look them in the eye in their final moments." The last morsel of his steak would soon enter the Roc's mouth, savouring it in its finality.

As Centurion Tyr continued the informal briefing, Roose would simply nod along but the approaching figure could not be ignored. There he was in the flesh: The Lion. No man of Armen had not heard of the bravery displayed by the soldier-prince. Was it likely the efforts of propaganda that this was the case? Sure. Was Roose caught up in the hype? Most definitely.

"Your grace! We meet again! I mean, I personally didn't meet you but we served in the same front before in Armen." Roose would state with excitement in his voice, standing up to greet his fellow Carius. However, it occurred to him that such a talent wasn't the sole ace or leader on the team. "... Centurion, it seems you have quite the squadron assembled to serve under you." he would say with less enthusiasm as he turned to gaze straight into Tyr's eyes. Only one thought came to his inquisitive mind, which pecked at the undecided confidence he had in his Centurion.

The unparalleled bravado of Hesse, the unmatched intellect of Skye, and the unbridled pursuit of Tadmoore were under a boy's beck and call. Roose would look away, hopefully not arousing suspicion. There has to be a good reason why this young officer, who he did not know until about an hour ago, was their superior. Heck, there definitely was a ton of bad reasons why he felt this way: Anxiety, cold feet, maybe worms were actually in his steak cut that could manipulate someone's emotional state like in those old pulp comics they found in archaeological digs? Whatever the case was, he had to excuse himself. "Sorry to dine and dash, fellas and lady. Got to do some pre-launch prep, specifically dropping off my jacket to facilities since I got red on me." After a quick salute, Roose was out of there.

Upon exit he saw that the jeep was still there, blood and all.

“Oh come on, don’t give me any of that limp-wristed guilt crap.” Skye groaned irritably to Roose, her aviator shapes slipping down to reveal her eyes as she looked to him.

“We’re warriors. Our job is to kill people and break shit for a paycheck or our beliefs. Anything else we accomplish is a secondary consequence of the first two actions. If you’re not comfortable killing a lot of people and keeping score, then get a job sweeping floors somewhere. Because the only way this war is going to end is if we put enough of our enemies in the ground. Or in the Canners case, the cold vacuum of space.”

Pushing her shades back up, Skye directed a glare towards Tyr from behind the concealing lenses. She tried to focus on cutting up the rest of her meat, but it was difficult not to feel a tinge of anger. Was her superior trying to downplay her accomplishments? She’d been on more missions overall. Even if they weren’t in space, or against the canners, didn’t mean they were pointless or easy.

“I’d have twice as many space launches as you Headphones if they’d just let me go up.” Skye thought to herself, feeling her chest begin to tighten. It was difficult not to feel at least a little inadequate next to someone who had been doing what she wanted to do for years. She wasn’t sure why she had been barred from space until recently. It was always excuses of how ‘local problems need attention first’ or ‘we need people to focus on the hordes’, or some believable yet flimsy justification.

“Today will be the first time in space since…”

Skye’s jaw suddenly clenched at the thought and she found her legs, the legs she no longer had, beginning to hurt.

Suddenly, her train of thought was derailed entirely at the mention of the other poster child. Immediately Skye let out an exasperated groan, leaning back in her seat at the realization.

“Aw, crap. He’s here? Yeah I’ve heard of Mr. Psychic. Kind of hard not to given our ‘shared line of work’. I don’t need any guidance from him, or anyone else for that matter.” Skye asserted to Tyr as she went back to digging into her meat, already through half of the sizable steak and reached out to eat the ‘meat’ soaked bread from her old food tray.

“Correction: This is where the cool kid sits, Lion.” Skye noted to Hesse as he sat down, emphasizing the singular nature of the coolness present before pausing briefly. “Though given Boarman got this fresh meat for us, I’d say he’s pretty close to being cool. He’s at least 20% cooler then he was before I got to eat this steak, porkchop, thing. Even if he is a bit whiny about kill counts…

Muttering the last part to herself as Roose left the mess hall, Skye finished the last of her steak and pushed her plate away from her. Her attention was fully on the new arrival and she grinned, leaning into her hand as she tried to gauge him.

“Nice to meet you for the first time, Lion. We were just talking about how much experience we do, or don’t, have. However given how everyone in this room knows you who are, I don't think you need to say much. Unless of course you want to try and see how we all measure up."

Port-1 | Hall | Cafeteria
Sirius Free, Tessa Stride & Hanson Seuclid | @Phoenix347

Tessa was impressed. Not many could manage to make both a good and bad impression on her decisive little-brother. The combination of being both his bestfriend and handler had synched her up with his mental ticks and emotional cues. Hanson had basically sent mixed-signals to someone who saw most things in black and white. She wondered what the results of Sirius' untangling would be. She eyed the curtain of dark hair obscuring his profile. "He's a piece of work," she started. "Though, he's right. If you cherish something, you shouldn't call it useless."

Sirius let go of Tessa's shoulder, determined to make anti-gravity travel as effortless as the normal. He twisted a little in transit but found the opposite wall and shone a closed-lip smile. "I think you're both right," he said. "The past can be mostly ignored or even forgotten but its still there. Still shaping our futures. Just like my pendant shaping me, and me--some random pod from the past--experiencing and shaping the now... Effort is necessary for everything, even something as simple as moving down a stupid hall."

Tessa nodded, mostly enjoying the rare moments of growth that Sirius went through. They were sudden but innocent and often pure. Free of messy misconceptions and typically a piece of him given form. She watched him for an unfiltered moment; hardly struggling but putting visible effort into fixing his traversal. In the midst of this, her hands found her bag-strap and tightened. When does it get old? seeing him grow right before my eyes.

The two eventually made it to the cafeteria. Tessa apologized to an exiting woman, a Ableman by the looks of her. A giggle became muffled behind the pair as they continued on. While getting their food, Sirius spotted the Corporal and decided he would join him. There was an impression of comradery now; somewhere snuggled up and cool. "Sir, I don't know many people here; mind if we sit with you?"

A look of slight-confusion passed Tessa's face for a split-second. Her natural warmth returned shortly. She wasn't sure how she felt about the Corporal personally but the hear-say about him was brutal. Apparently the guy was a savage, war-loving, soldier from the Universal Century. If she let his venom seep into Sirius, it could create something ugly. On the other hand, Tessa was nearing the threshold for following him without it becoming a "overbearing" issue. The solution came to her moments after the mental-debate; this all lasted less then a second and that observation made her smile, it was a sly kind-of-smile hidden behind overwhelmingly kind eyes.

George Eltz's Office
Gabriel Seth & George Eltz

Taking the folder from the General, Gabriel would open it up as he did a quick look over of the provided information no matter how minuscule it was because some information is better than none, especially when it comes to scavenging. When a scavenger makes a discovery they must be knowledgeable about whatever they found, for that item could very well make or break someone's life. Purpose & capabilities, utilization & implementation, abundance vs scarcity. A scavenger must always think of these things when he works his trade, and right now Gabriel was already dissecting each ship and their possible cargo. Closing up the folder and standing up Gabriel would look at the General.

"Understood, General Eltz. Get to the designated area for salvaging operations, put a focus on the freighter and the Marilyn class with the others being secondary focuses if we have the time. Once salvaging operations are complete we take our salvage back to the HLV and return to port. If we encounter any resistance, priority of your forces and whatever current salvage we have comes first. Are there anymore orders or information you have for me, or am I free to go and get ready for the mission."

Excitement filled Gabriel, his first true contract that he was going to take on, and one that would put his skills to great use. This contract and it's pay hinged on what he and the team could find, and not only that if there was any good salvage they found he could he acquire it. Though he had a feeling that he would have to do quite a bit of negotiating to actually get it with no strings involved.

George Eltz's Office
George Eltz, Gabriel Seth

The general stood up, walking to the front of his desk as the suited man stood with him. "The official briefing will be done within twenty minutes, and I suggest you attend, introduce yourself to the commander and offer advice to them before the operation. For some this will be not only their first trip into space, but salvaging as well. Any misunderstanding or prejudgment could prove damaging to the rest of the team. The centurion leading the operation is Tyr Fin, he has participated in numerous launches and returns, if you have issues with any of the soldiers you are guiding consult with him for corrections. On a final note for this meeting, bring my soldiers back, and bring us back viable weapons to use against the Gols. I'm sure such a goal will be motivating to you as well."

General Eltz stuck his hand out to the scavenger with his stoic face, and after shaking it, guided the man out of his office. He returned to his desk briefly one more time to gather his own documents and personal tablet before leaving. Until the briefing, there was only one concern on his mind, why an intelligence member was on his base without prior notification and why the infirmary was now being filled with his stench. He only received the notification from his assistant but was sure the staff there would explain more in detail. The brisk walk to the facility was rather empty as much of the base was finalizing itself for the launch, or below ground. Even before stepping foot into the hangar he could hear the commotion. "Leave me the fuck alone! I'm calling my father immediately, where the hell is the radio station!" As Eltz walked into one of the rooms, normally that would hold up to 10 patients, a metal tin flew against the door. The source was the only man in the room on a bed, with two MP's holding him down, although from the blood on his head and difficulty working against the two, he clearly wasn't in any position to leave.

A doctor approached the general, a mark across his face from a weak strike. "General, I wasn't expecting you to come down so soon. From the reports of witnesses, there was..." The man struggled to define it as an assault or accident. "Incident which this man was making a fuss at hangar 3, and the sole occupant, you know, Carius Skye, smashed him skull first into the flooring. We're attempting to dope him again before shipping him out but he just came to and started assaulting my staff. He most likely has not just a concussion but internal bleeding which-" The general stopped listening as he walked forward over to the bedside. Pulling one of the MPs aside, the patient saw him and his face immediately changed from one of blood covered anger to one of hope. "You! You're General Eltz right? Contact my father immedi- AGHHH!" George Eltz interrupted his scream by planting a hand on the mans throat, tightening it and cutting off his air. He pushed him up in the bed as Eltz leaned in, horror filling . "Silence. You have no reason to be on my base, and no justification to accost my soldiers. If you are here on official business you are out of conduct, if this is personal then I will see to your removal from intelligence. His name."

Keeping his eyes locked to the young man's, the doctor answered the general from behind him. "He is... Havrok Harkin, from the house Harkin family." George let out a "Tch. That fat bastard. OF course his slime of a son would crawl over to here." Being what was considered a personal matter, George was only briefly notified of a marriage being arranged for carius Skye while he heard of the consideration he did not hear of the conclusion. "I doubted she would ever have conceded to the arrangement you made without her, but you have your answer now. Contact the capital and tell them to expect this trash soon." The spoiled child in the bed had his eyes roll back as Eltz was still holding onto his neck, letting go at the last second. Without breath the young man lay back against the sheets hacking while the doctor came around and plunged the needle into him effortlessly now. "Send him off base on the next train." The general turned away and walked out of the building, any seeing him avoiding him until his face softened.

Cafeteria
Hanson Seuclid, Sirius Free, Tessa Stride

His ration came up quickly, and grabbing it Hanson proceeded through the mostly filled cafeteria to an empty table and sat down, observing his delectable meal of potatoes and greens mixed with slices of beef. Just as he picked up the first slice and consumed it a familiar voice peaked up, seeing the two from the hall decided to join him. With a grin he gestured to the table in front of him as he swallowed. "Suit yourselves. Company is nothing I'll pass up. If you're planning to be all buddy buddy, at least tell me more about yourselves. And your relation." Hanson looked between the two like they were criminals under interrogation. Of course the kid was from a pod, that was no mystery, but the woman's closeness seemed more than just a concern for his health and wellness. They were relatively close to one of the labs so the two could have met up and come along together. The woman however, seemed to be on edge, suspicious of Hanson.

He gave mental props to her for being worried, if Hanson was in charge of this man he'd nearly drill him of all information the kid had available or what little there was. "How long since you were popped open? I've been out here for ten years since climbing into the fridge. Can't remember too well what was going on around me to force me to step inside that icicle. They prodded me for a good year to figure me out, make sure I was still human under the skin. Did you subject him to the same, examination?" Hanson looked over to the woman with raised brows, curious of how she would answer the accusation.

Mess Hall
Tyr Fin, Everin Skye, Roose Tadmoore

Before running into them, at least Roose, Tyr had the impression this team would be a viable asset to the general, but with the easily felt frustration they showed to him he was concerned over their upcoming synergy. A tribal from the east and one painted onto posters and blaring on radio programs matched with a career soldier from a fishing village. "You can always learn something from your elders. There's a reason he still succeeds in that old tin can of his." He defended the veteran before the leaving of Roose, to which he gave a nod, and the joining of another soldier just before then. Yet another new arrival to team delta, one of the so called nobles of the empire, a classless hierarchy aimed at retaining their old traditions among the new rabble they had to call allies. "Carius Hale, welcome to Algec. I see you're also on the roster to be launched, will you be bringing your HMT along with you?"
