The nurse left, satisfied that Serena would actually do as she was told this time. Chas let go of her as she rubbed her face and asked her question. "I'm hoping soon but I can find out for us as I know John won't wanna stay here for long." he replied. "Which reminds me, I wonder how Kay is getting on with him. He can be the most pain in the arse patient ever" he smirked.

Kay sighed really hoping that those words didn't have to be said. She thought if they could be safe in any public place, it would be a hospital but it seemed John thought otherwise. "I'll get Chas to go find out when you can be checked out. Hopefully you can recover at home and not here" she said, without even realising that she called the millhouse of John's 'home'. The only other option she could think of was to heal John as best as she could, just enough to get him and Serena checked out earlier.

Serena shook her head and flinched. “Neither do I…I can feel them already…the fears and nightmares…I can’t stay here long without having a way to block the voices…”

John shook his head and said “it’s safe for us…it’s just a lot of things of the dark love the suffering here…it won’t be good for any of us to be here to feel that darkness”

Chas nodded in understanding, "okay. Well let me see how long how they wanna keep you two in for observation at least. At least then you'll have an answer for that" he replied, "unless you don't want me leaving the room" he added.

Kay sighed but nodded at his words. It made sense but she didn't know what else to do to help him or Serena out. She was just glad they were all alive right now and she wasn't looking at a corpse. "okay.. So what do you want me to do?" she asked him.

Serena shook her head and said “I’ll be alright, You go find out when we can get John out of here alright?” She smiled weakly and after he left sighed and laid back in the bed. “Last time it was this bad…you were here love…I miss you dearly…”

John smiled and said “your doing it already. Chas will work on getting us out of here…we just need to stay calm and not rip open any stitches…” he looked over at Serena and frowned. “She look alright to you?”

Chas gave her a small smile back, and patted her arm gently, "okay I'll be right back" he told her before leaving and headed to the nurse's station to seek out some information, any information that would be considered helpful to them all. He didn't particularly like leaving Serena alone but he knew it was the only way if he wanted to know when he could bring the two of them home. Which reminded him, he had better contact his own family as well whilst he was on his own.

Kay smiled back even though she was still worried about John and Serena. As he mentioned Serena she glanced over her shoulder to look at her. "she looks like she's dealing with the pain to me, which is understandable" she said to him. She noticed how Chas had gone out the room and guessed it was to get a word on possible discharge time.

John frowned and was watching Serena and muttered “she’s talking to herself…or someone she wants to be here…” he sighed and said “she shouldn’t be alone…not like this. Her lost love is messing g with her badly…” he glanced at Kay and said “thanks for finding us in that mess Kay…and I don’t want you to feel bad anymore about this…”

Serena was rubbing her head, the pain getting worse in her body and head. She hated this.

Kay could see like John did that Serena was muttering to herself for whatever reason and hadn't forgotten about the woman's lost love. She might not be able to fully understand what that must feel like, but she did feel sorry for her. "She's not alone, she has us" she corrected him before looking at him in the eyes when he told her she didn't need to feel bad again. "Well I was hardly going to leave you both in there to die now" She said, "But I'll try and not feel bad about it, not making any promises though" she said with a light smile.

Chas found a nurse just sitting at the station and not acknowledging him at all, so he made a coughing noise to get her attention, "Excuse me. Can you tell me how long John Constantine and Serena will be expected to remain in here please?" he asked, wanting answers so he can head back to Serena whilst also giving a text to his family in the process.

John smiled and said “it’s over and done. Guilt from the past helps no one…” he sighed and rubbed his face with his good arm and said “what a mess this is…hopefully the news will get round to keep anyone else from trying that…”

The nurse looked up and said “it looks like they both need to be check again in the morning…the normal call would be a few days here since they both needed things done when they got here…but it all depends on the doctor on call”

Serena closed her eyes and held her ears, the voices of fear and pain getting louder. She was shaking as she muttered “please…I can’t help all of you…”

If Chas had heard what John said about the guilt of the past, he would have commented about how John needed to actually practice what he preached, but luckily for John Chas wasn't in the room and didn't hear what he said. Instead he was listening to the nurse and nodded, "thanks, I'll let them know" he replied, then walked away, pulling his phone out and giving Renee a quick text to say he'll be late but it's for a very valid reason as John is in hospital.

Kay sighed and nodded, "I know" she replied back to him. "I hope so too, we all need a break from everything. I've almost forgotten what a normal life is" she said back to him, a slight snigger escaping her at her last words. She then looked up when she heard a knock on the doorframe and it was Chas, "spoken to a nurse and it seems it could be a few days you're both in here for. Depends what the doc will say in the morning when he comes in to check on you both" he explained. "just thought I'd give you the heads up, now to tell Serena. Either of you need anything? I can do a trip to grab food or drinks after seeing Serena" he offered.

"I can go in a bit. You stay with Serena, she seems to be struggling" Kay offered.

John nodded to Chas and said “we need to make it one day. We can’t make her stay here that long…I can sense the shadows in this place are already giving her trouble…” he smiled at Kay and added “we can just have something delivered. That way no one has to leave and be alone right now…”

Serena had her eyes shut and her hands covering her ears, tears starting to run down her face. She shook her head and muttered “please…please stop…it’s too much…”

"then we'll do our hardest to convince the docs in the morning to let you both be discharged tomorrow" Chas replied before John suggested about getting something brought to them instead of either Chas or Kay going to get things. "I'll get back to Serena, see you both in a bit" he told them, before leaving the room and heading back into Serena's. He walked over, sat beside her and gently went to grab one of her hands. "it's okay... Its okay" he tried reassuring her.

Kay let go John's hand a d looked on the bedside table for some kind of patient room service menu but found nothing. "I wonder if we can get away with doing some kind of normal take out pizza or something. Hospital food is shit" she remarked to him.

Serena looked up, tears in her eyes. “I can’t make the cries stop…it’s too much…it hurts Chas…” she lowered her head in pain, her shoulders shaking in pain.

John nodded and said “I’m sure the nurses have a list of nearby place that come here”

When Chas saw Serena crying from the pain of the cries of the other patients, he perched himself on the edge of her bed and very gently pulled her into him and held her, much like he would his daughter, in the hopes it'd be of some comfort to her as he didn't know what else he could possibly do for her.

Kay nodded and glanced out the door to the other room and saw that Chas had everything under control but it didn't stop her worrying about Serena. "I'll go ask a nurse if it's a possibility" she told him, looking back at him. "you be alright on your own for like one minute?" she asked him.

John waved and said “yes I’ll be fine. Go do you for a few. It’s not like I can do anything wrapped up like this…” he looked around for his jacket and found his phone, checking it and making sure nothing worse had come up thanks to the blast at the warehouse.

Serena cried into his chest, her shoulders shaking. Then she pulled back and said “I’m sorry…I should be able to handle this…for some reason it’s always hard in places like this…”

Kay nodded and stood up exiting the room for a moment. She didn't think she'd hate leaving the room but she did even though she was still close by. She asked if there was any possibility of getting a take out brought in but the nurse was being difficult and didn't seem to really know. Kay guessed it was because she may be a junior nurse. "hey.. There's a pizza place literally next door if you wanna go grab some. I dunno if you can but I get not wanting hospital food." the nurses eventually said when a more seasoned nurse walked away. "thanks" Kay replied, tapping the desk before exiting the hospital.

Chas rubbed her back and kept ahold of Serena, but also being careful to not hurt her anymore than she already was. "it's okay... You're still learning to Co trol everything, and being here is going to overwhelm anyone with powers like yours." he tried to reassure her, unsure if it was remotely working.

John looked around the pulled a wheelchair towards him and moved into it. He wheeled himself to the other room and said to Chas “hey mate…crap; I was worried this was happening” he moved to the other side and said “we need to seal the room. Magic ward to keep her shadows from running around gathering the dreams and fears around…I need chalk…and to stand up…”

Serena was against Chas and glanced at John and muttered “you can…stop the pain?”

Chas looked up when he saw John out of bed and in a wheelchair, giving him the look of 'you shouldn't be in here' but agreed that they needed to do something to help Serena. "we'll one of us will have to go and find some. We don't exactly just carry chalk around with us wherever we go" he replied, "where's Kay?" he asked, realising that the other woman didn't come into the room with him.

Kay managed to find the place the nurse recommended as she looked round outside and found it a couple doors down to her left. Walking down, she hoped she would be okay on her own and decided she would do all she could to be as discreet and lay as low as possible. Walking inside, she went to the menu displayed on the wall and took a look at what there was before ordering.

John looked at him and said “she went to get food. She has to be able to go out without being worried about being attacked. She’s able to defend herself…just had to learn how to” he looked around and saw a white board. He moved over to it and pulled the black marker from the side. “This will do nicely…I do really need to carry chalk with me”

Serena closed her eyes and curled into Chas’s chest, her shaking getting worse.

Chas nodded, just finding it surprising that she so willingly went out so soon after being taken and after they said about getting food brought to them so no one was left alone. ".. Right" he replied watching his mate closely as he saw the white board and marker. "to be honest I'm surprised you don't. You have all kinds of other shit in your trench coat pockets" he smirked, whilst still being protective and keeping hold of Serena.

Kay managed to pick some pizzas and do the order, including some sides as well then stood to one side to wait for it all to be done. She pulled out her phone to occupy herself as she waited deciding that now it was a new one, despite having a lot of her things transferred over, she needed to do new photos and such.

John nodded and said “it kept breaking apart in my pocket…I need a better way to store it…” he was drawing a seal on the whiteboard and glanced at Serena. “Can she even hear us now? I’m worried this is going to over load her mind and cause more problems…”

Serena didn’t answer, her head full of the screams and other cries for help, her eyes dull.
