Kay let Serena read through her notes before she explained to her what she had wrong with her. Hearing the list be as long as it was made Kay make a face that perfectly conveyed the word 'yeesh!'. She was about to say something when she noticed the marking on her hand and she couldn't help but gently take Serena's hand and check the marking over. "Huh...I wonder what this is all about" she remarked, showing Serena. "Do you have any idea?" she asked her.

Chas listened carefully to what the doctor was telling him, making sure that he got everything so he could relay the information to the girls correctly. Hearing that it was almost a close call a couple of times didn't make CHas feel great mentally but he was glad that his mate still kept fighting and pulled through. "I'll make sure he rests up. Thank you for all your work and saving him. I should go tell the other two. They're worried sick about him" he explained.

Serena looked at her hand with Kay and frowned. “I have no idea…maybe magic markings? I don’t have any tattoos…” she then looked up and said “Kay, can I see the marks on your back?”

The doc nodded and added “he will be in his room soon, he will still be out of it for a little bit…” he waved and walked back to the doors to help finish up on the surgery

Kay found it all the more curious that Serena wasn't even sure of what it was she was getting on her hand. At the request of her own markings to be seen, she nodded, turned round and showed her wings markings on her back that spread across her shoulder blades, circles in the middle between the blades that the wings were attached to and spreading out from. They were all orange with red tips on each 'feather' detail. Two longer feathers draped down under the main wing from the circles, which signified the eternal lifespan of the phoenix and the constant rebirth they had. Luckily she had a vest on which showed them easily without her needing to pull off a jacket or hoodie.

Chas walked back to the room as the doctor went back into the theatre, wondering how he was going to tell the girls that John almost died a couple of time but he was okay now. When he got back, he saw Kay facing the door and Serena looking at her back.

Serena looked at the markings then back at her hand and said “they look similar…like they were done by the same artist…I wonder what it could mean..”
She looked up at Chas and held up her hand. “See anything like this before? And how is John doing?”

"guess it's yet another thing to add to the list of questions" Kay replied, before noticing Chas was back in the room, whilst Serena best her to asking how John was. She hoped it wouldn't be bad news and just wanted to see him already. "he's doing alright, they're just finishing up now with him and he'll be brought to the opposite room soon. He's got concussion, and broken ribs. He did have a dislocated shoulder but they've put that back into place and managed to get all metal out of him as well. Was touch and go a couple of times but he pulled through.

He'll be out for a while but okay" Chas explained, before shaking his head at the question, "but as for the markings? Not got a clue. Bound to be something at the mill house in one of the books though. My best guess though? Something to do the bonding of each of you or something. A bonding of working side by side. But without anything to Co firm that it's all speculation." he added.

Serena nodded and said “that sounds like a good theory…it makes sense” she flinched again and moved to the machine, knocking her morphine down and said “I can’t think with the meds…” they heard doors open and saw the bed get rolled into the next room, John on it wrapped in bandages.

Serena moved a little and cursed. “That looks a lot worse then they said..”

Kay sighed when Serena knocked the morphine out feeling like that woman would do all she could to remotely get her own way on things. Kay wasn't even going to say anything as she felt it was going to be pointless. When the doors open and John was wheeled in she instantly looked up and her heart just felt like it was breaking seeing John in such a state. "these things always look worse on the outside." Chas commented. "the main thing is is he's going to be okay" he added.

Kay nodded and let the nurses finish placing John's bed where it needed to be before heading straight to his bedside without a word spoken. She just felt like that's where she needed to be in this very instant. When it was safe to do, she sat beside his bed and carefully grabbed his hand. "you're such a fool John..." she muttered.

Serena sighed and looked at Chas. “He tried to stop it...there was a strange aura in that room when the spell was finishing...it was about to face then that aura hit it and then everything went crazy...I don’t know what but...” she held her head, feeling light headed now the drugs were not as strong.

John was still out cold, his chest wrapped as well as his shoulder in a sling and his leg. He looked like he had been thru a battle and after a few minutes his hand moved slightly and gripped her hand.

Chas listened to what Serena was saying and found it highly curious that there was something else there. He didn't notice anything out if the ordinary for them. "how strange and that's saying something for our line of work" he replied, he saw how she grabbed the side of her head and sat down beside her. "get some sleep Serena. I won't leave your side, I promise" he told her.

Kay just knew that John wouldn't be able to hear her probably but she felt the need to say what she did anyway. She was convinced that if he was awake she may not have said it, or if she did she would have said probably a lot worse. She just wanted to be his side none the less. She hated that he got into such trouble because he was fighting back for her sake. She looked down at her lap, refusing to move until she felt his hand twitch and grip onto her own hand, making her look up. "John?" she asked, unsure if it was an action in his sleep or because he was waking up.

Serena looked at him and said “I should have gotten him out of there faster…used my shadows to pull him out of there…I messed up…” she rubbed her head, the machine beeping from her heart rate rising a little due to her pain level.

John groaned a little and turned his head, fighting to open his eyes. He muttered weakly “Kay…is…everyone…safe…and okay…?”

Chas grabbed her hand and rubbed the back of it with his thumb, "hey..just breathe. It's not your fault okay? Trust me, you can't make John do anything he don't wanna do. I wish I could have convinced him to continue taking Kay out himself so this didn't happen, but I didn't because I knew John would metaphorically drill his feet into the ground and not move until I agreed to his ways. It's just who he is. He's a stubborn idiot" he explained.

"we're okay, we're all safe and okay. Serena is in the other room but she'll be okay. You're worse off than all of us" she told him, "John why didn't you just get out of there? You could died" she told him..

Serena looked at him and said weakly “I should have made him…I should have sensed what was…going on…” she gasped and held her chest, the alarms starting to go off as she flinched. “Crap…chest pain…I might have a clot…not my heart but…my lungs…could have been hit in the chest…” she waved her hand and a shadow moved up. “I need you to pull the bandages back…I need to get a shadow in there…”

John shook his head and said weakly “wasn’t time…I had to stop the energy burst…there was another energy there…reacted to my spell…it was too fast to get out…without the whole block going up…I had to try and throw shields up…Serena was handling the other side but…it was too much…” he weakly opened his eyes and smiled weakly. “Hey…”

Chas knew that it didn't matter how stubborn Serena was, John would have been more stubborn just to make a point that he was more stubborn. As much as he loved his mate, he also knew what a right petty asshole he could be when it came to such things. He instantly stood up when the alarms started going off wondering if he should call for someone to come in, but Serena was already taking charge of the situation with her shadows. "should I get someone in?" he asked her.

Kay frowned when he explained that there just wasn't time for them to have gotten out. It just made the whole situation all the more worrying. When he managed to open his eyes she gave him a small smile back, "hey" she replied. "I'm just glad you're okay and in a safe place finally. You had me worried sick John...you and Serena did. If one of her shadows didn't lead me to you both in time..."she told him, finding herself getting choked up trying to finish that sentence but couldn't.

Serena shook her head and moved the wrappings so she could get under her skin and sent the shadow into her own body. She closed her eyes and started to mutter the medicine of what she was doing to help focus. After a few minutes the alarms stopped and Serena flinched, the shadow coming out and her wound bleeding again. She cursed and said “now…call some one…the clot has been removed…”

John tightened his grip again and said weakly “then everything is alright now isn’t it…we saved the day…and made it another day…that’s all…” he flinched and closed his eyes, his wounds starting to hurt now.

Chas stayed close by as Serena let her shadow help her out, trusting her that she knows what she's doing, whilst hovering around just incase he felt he should call someone anyway. He nodded and reached for the call nurse button by her bedside and pressed it with no hesitation, it instantly sending an alert to the nurse's station, to which it was reacted to and within moments, someone came in. "what's the issue?" a nurse asked.

Kay kept a hold of his hand as he gripped it tighter. "but it shouldn't have come to you and Serena in hospital and almost dying on me and Chas. I thought I was going to lose you" she told him. She got worried but knew it was down to his wounds hurting. "want me to call a nurse to see if you can get pain relief?" she asked him.

Serena smiled weakly at the nurse and said “it seems one of my stitches has come out...making a terrible mess of these sheets...” she was holding the wound closed but blood was still coming out without holding back. Serena was getting like headed and said “Chas...make sure I don’t fall off the bed would you? In case I do pass out...”

John shook his head and said “my records say not heavy on meds per my request...after my time in the loony bin I hate over use of any kinds of meds on myself...don’t like the feelings...I’ll stuck it up...” he looked across the hall and said “but it looks like Serena is not just fine...” he tried to get up but moved wrong and gasped in pain, falling backward on the bed cursing.

The walked over and checked for herself at what Serena was saying and agreed it was seeming to be the stitches. "how did this happen?" she asked, walking over to the cabinet and getting what she needed to fix the accident that had occurred. Chas nodded at Serena's request and stayed close by, "don't worry, I'll keep you on the bed" he replied to her. The nurse set everything up and guided Serena's hand out of the way where she began to clean the wound and started redoing her stitches.

Kay nodded understanding where he was coming from. "that's fair enough, I'm ki da the same" she replied, and looked over when he mentioned about Serena before stopping him from trying to get up as he was just hurting himself. "stay put. She'll be okay, Chas is with her and so is a nurse. Just focus on yourself and rest please. You've had intense surgery for crying out loud. Do I have to seriously stay here with you to make sure you don't try and get up?" she told him.

Serena flinched and leaned her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes. “Sorry…I hate watching stitching being done on myself…I’ve had to do my own a few times…” she was white now and asked the nurse “any damage to the area?”

John cursed softly and said “sorry love…I’m a man of action…not one to just sit back and watch…” he flinched and hissed thru his teeth and said “so, how bad am I? I haven’t heard all the damage done…”

CHas put an comforting arm round her shoulders, to try and help reassure her and comfort her as best he could. "It's okay, I get it" he told her before she decided to ask the nurse of how things were. "Everything is fine. It was a clean rip of the stitching but you're all good" she smiled as she finished up and then replaced the covering as well. "Just remain and try not to move and it won't happen again" she explained to her.

Kay smiled and shook her head, "You and Serena are too alike in that aspect" she told him, "As for you, they had to remove a metal bar from your side that had impaled you slightly in the side, you got some broken ribs and did get concussion from the blow of the fall you both took. Hence the amount of pain" she explained. "So it's vital you don't move too much as you needed to be stitched up and stuff" she added.

Serena smirked and said “thank you…I’ll be more careful…” when they were alone again Serena sighed and muttered “that sucked…” she rubbed her face and then said “when can we get out of here…”

John cursed softly and sat up a little to see her better. “We can’t stay here long…it’s a hot spot for demons and the nasties of the world…”
