Helena looked back into his eyes, clearly seeing the hardships his expression was holding. She understood that it had to be hard for him too, shooting people and seeing how she felt. After all they were friends, but now he was his bodyguard too, which would mean he'd have to give his life for hers if he needed to, while knowing what she thought of that.

She nodded quietly, still not knowing what she should or wanted to say. With her eyes still filled with tears and shock she looked away, finding it unbearable to see the pain in her friend's eyes. Instead she looked at the camera hanging around her neck, and she noticed vaguely that the lens was broken, probably when Leo covered her, but couldn't care at the moment.

Leo put his arms around her, "I know Helena you don't want me to put my life at risk, but I have to it was part of the contract I signed with your fath. Your father didn't make me sign it, I signed it of my own free will." By his own free will, his boss had made him sign it he had no other choice.

He knew she wanted to say something, but didn't know how to put it into words at the moment. He gave her the time she needed to gather herself up again. It had to be hard for her to get shot at for the first time, he knew that he once was a rookie in the FBI getting shot at for the first time had been a nightmare for him.

After a long moment of silence had passed, Helena finally spoke up again. "I don't want you to be who you should be according to your contract. I want you be who you really are: my friend." Was all she said, looking up to him with the tears she tried to hold back so badly now rolling down her face. She didn't want him to be her bodyguard, someone meant only to be around her for the sole reason of protection and to sacrifice himself if needed. All she wanted was to have her friend back, the one she thought she had lost many years ago and, seemed to have finally found again, but who now seemed to be just out of reach.

She couldn't care that she was crying and started sobbing loudly, that her sight was blurred by tears and that her camera lens was broken. She didn't care about any of that all as she wanted to just curl up against her friend, wishing for her to soothe her and tell her that everything was going to be fine as she tried to recover from her shock. Worrying about such petty little things seemed more useless to her than anything else at that moment.

Leo switched spots, he was now sitting in the chair with Helena in his lap. "Alright if you want that old friend back you can have that old friend back," he smiled a little. "Remember that old water balloon fight we had in your back yard one summer? Then we filled a giant balloon with water and dumped it on your dad," he laughed as he recalled the old memory.

He held Helena in his arms, trying to soothe her with the old fun memory's that they had shared together. "I remember that time we went surfing once and I couldn't take my eyes off you while on a wave in the end I wiped out, by the time I got back on the beach you were there laughing at me. That's the one memory I always recall when things start to get tough, you laughing was the best thing I ever heard helena."

Though there appeared no smile in her face as Leo hold her and brought up the memories, still too shocked and scared to do so, Helena nodded softly and curled up against him when she thought back to the memories he brought up. Of course she remembered, how could she ever forget? The many moments they had spent together when they were little were the best memories she had, the best things that happened in her life that had actually managed to make her feel happy, and she would never forget even one of those great moments.

Although her sobbing became softer Helena still couldn't stop the tears from running down her face, causing Leo's shirt to get wet, as she had buried her face in his shirt soon after he had put her onto his lap. She slowly but surely managed to become less scared. Even though the shock wouldn't fade as fast, she felt safe, secure in the strong arms of her friend.

Leo knew the shock and fear wouldn't go away fast, he knew that all to well he kept his arms around Helena trying to comfort her the best that he could. "Helena no matter what I will always be by your side the friend that you want back is right here and I won't go anywhere as long as you sent me to stay." He meant that, if she wanted him by her side he would be by her side.

Leo didn't care if his shirt was getting wet, they were always by each other comforting the other one when things went wrong. He wouldn't leave her as long as she wanted him by her side, he didn't care if his boss fired him he would still be by Helena. He just got back to her, and he wouldn't leave her side for a very long time. H didn't care what he r father said to him, he would stay "Helena I won't leave you now that I just got back here I won't leave you alone ever again."

Helena nodded again quietly, not managing to bring out even a single more word. She felt relieved and reassured, knowing Leo would stay with her until she told him to leave, something she certainly didn't intent to do. She wanted him close to her, and not just for the moment, but for very long.

After a little longer it seemed to be the case that her tears ran dry, as they stopped rolling down her face, and the soft sobbing ended too. Still, Helena didn't move from her friend's lap, still trying to fully calm down. Just that the crying and sobbing had stopped didn't mean that she was completely calm already.

Leo knew the shock of being shot at hadn't gone away , that's why he kept his arms around Helena. Still trying to give her comfort , he had ran out of things to say but he would still try and comfort her without the words. He kept his arms around her, trying to get Helena to calm down fully. He had never comforted anyone except Helena, Leo didn't care if he got his shirt wet in the process.

He shifted his weight, getting in a more comfortable position than he was in last. Still he didn't let Helena out of his arms. Knowing that she needed him more in this moment than any other. He let his hand go through her hair, still trying to get her to calm down it would be awhile till that would happen though.

When after a long while Helena had finally managed to calm down, she looked up, her eyes still slightly watery and red because of the crying. "Thank you." Was all she said softly, still not getting off his lap. It felt just too good to sit there with him like that and she wanted to make the moment last longer, even if everything was fine now. Just so she could enjoy being with her friend.

She didn't care if the maids would see the two of them like that and what they would think of it. They could think whatever they wanted, and always ask if they got curious about what was going on between the two, which was nothing special at the moment. Her father would be home late, so he wouldn't possibly see them like this. Not like Helena would care what her father would have to say about it. He was never around, never made time for her. He was only barely a part of her life, she only saw him maybe two hours a day. So what would give him the right to judge and boss her, while never being there for her anyway? And since her mother died because of a only a month after Leo had left, that was no option neither. So to Helena, there was absolutely nothing to worry about.

Leo didn't mind, if Helena wanted to stay in his lap. He was just happy that she was ok, and not hurt he wouldn't forgive himself if she ever got hurt because of him. He didn't care, if people thought the way they were sitting differently than them.

It was getting dark, and late Leo had to be at his best in order to protect Helena and be wide awake. "Helena I think it would be good if we got some sleep." A smile on his face as he said it, he didn't want to sleep, but he would have to in order to be at his best.

Helena nodded, getting off Leo's lap. She didn't want to go to bed just yet and be alone, being with Leo had felt just too safe, but she also understood that he would have to be fully rested in order to protect her, despite how much she disliked going to sleep. She just quietly wished he could sleep with her, not to do anything intimate with him, but because she felt so safe while he was close to her.

"I'll take a shower first, but you can go to bed if you want." She said, being pretty certain that after being thrown onto the ground so Leo could cover her, taking a quick shower wasn't such a bad idea.

Leo nodded, going up to his room he took off his shirt and boots. That was it he usually slept in his jeans most of the time, he went to the bathroom and shaved off whatever beard was showing on his face, but he kept the stubble. He went back to his room, getting some other stuff out and then laying on the bed.

Helena had grown up a lot ever since he had moved 8 years ago. He wondered how hard her life was without him around. He pushed that thought out of his head for the moment, her life wasn't as hard as his killing people and doing other things for the FBI that he didn't want to but he had to in order to keep his job.

Helena took a quick shower, washing all dirt out of her hair and off her body and spending not much more time in the shower after that. She dried herself with her soft, cream coloured towel and afterwards stepped into a simple pantie and a short, black nightgown that was quite short and didn't even reach her knees. Despite the fact that it was a little shorter than Helena preferred, it was just perfect for this time of the year, with the, weather being so hot, even at night. The thin fabric and short length made sure she wouldn't get too hot while wearing it, yet the length was appropriate, not making the nightgown look like something slutty.

She walked to her room with silent footsteps and stepped into her bed right away. The last thought on her mind before falling asleep, was how happy she was to have her friend back again, even under these circumstances.

Leo finally fell asleep, middle of the night he woke up on a bad feeling. He slowly got up, he didn't bother with a shirt or wen getting his boots on. He grabbed his pistol, slowly making his way down stairs seeing one of the members had made it in and was trying to let his buddies in. Leo held his gun up, "stay where you are and you won't get shot," he said in a low tone close to a growl.

The member was suprised to see a man bigger and stronger than him holding a gun toward him, he took a step forward. "I said stop where you are," still Leo kept that low voice. He the gang member swallowed then bolted toward Leo, fighting for control of the gun it went off hitting Leo in the shoulder. He grunted, the kicked the gang member back. By that time he had him tied up, by the time Helena's father woke up Leo was bleeding steadily from his shoulder.

Awakened by the noises downstairs, Helena got out of bed to see what was going on. "Leo!" She yelled worried when she saw his bleeding shoulder, paying no attention to the gang member as she rushed towards her friend. When her father tried to stop her, Helena pushed him away and stopped running when she got to Leo, quickly dialling 911.

When she hung up her phone again, Helena looked worried at her friend. But not only did she feel worried, but also angry at her father. He was to blame for all of this, for making her a target and her friend getting hurt. When her father supportively put a hand on her shoulder, she slapped it away. "If you're only going to pretend to care now that someone got hurt, just get the hell away already!" She snapped, looking at her father.

Leo looked at Helena in suprise, when he saw her. He had done his job, but got wounded in the process. At least Helena was ok that's what mattered to him, he grunted in pain as the adrenaline wore off. He slowly sank down into the sitting position leaning against a wall.

The world was spinning to him, his vision coming in and out of focus. The only thing he could focus on was, Helena if he didn't he would let the darkness take a hold of him. Still he wouldn't allow that, not with her probably still in danger. He couldn't allow that, his friend was more important to him, but he could still feel the darkness try and take a hold of him.

By the time sirens could be heard and the police finally arrived to the scene, the only gang member left was the one Leo had managed to tie down. The others had fled the scene, leaving their friend to get caught by the cops. Helena paid no attention to him, even once, not caring about him at all. All she cared for at that exact moment was Leo's wellbeing. She sat down close to him, making sure he didn't lose too much blood and didn't leave his side, not even a second, until the police and ambulances arrived.

When they got there she gave the men some space as they got Leo into the ambulance and insisted on going to the hospital with her friend, getting into the back of the vehicle as well and sitting down, searching for Leo's hand and holding it during the ride. Dangerous or not, she had to come with him now, no matter what. After all they were friends, and they were always there for each other.

Leo felt himself being lifted onto a stretcher, then he saw the ambulance he was getting put into. He was slowly letting the darkness take him, he felt a small warm hand in his Helena was the first thought that came to him. She was in the ambulance with him riding toward the hospital, he knew the bullet had went into his shoulder blade they would have to have to do surgery to get it out.

The darkness took him, once he woke up again he.panicked for a second then relaxed as his thoughts came back to him. He could still feel the pain in his shoulder which meant they hadn't gotten all of the bullet out of his shoulder, his eyes looked around the room then landing on Helena in a chair beside his bed he smiled weakly at least she was ok.

When Leo woke and smiled at her, a weak smile but a smile nonetheless, she spontaneously hugged while making sure not to hurt him with his injured shoulder. "You're alright..." She said soft, only believing the words now that he was awake again. Of course the doctors had told her that he was going to be alright, and that a shot on his shoulder wasn't fatal, but still, the moments during the surgery she had felt worse than she ever had before.

But now, everything was okay again, and Helena felt happier than ever before to see her friend opening his eyes. He didn't lose too much blood or anything, he was alive and going to be healthy again, and that was just all Helena wanted. And in the moment when she hugged him, overtook by happiness and relief, she couldn't stop herself from placing a soft, gentle kiss on her lips. When she did her face turned a bright red colour, making her realise how she actually felt about her friend now that he was back, and both of them older.

Leo was glad that Helena was alright, he was also happy that he kept her safe. Still it was saying something, when he was in the hospital. He knew they wouldn't let him go till tonight. At least Helena would stay by him till then. He hugged her back, his shoulder hurt but he really didn't care in the least.

When Helena kissed him, he was suprised by the fact. He didn't care though, he kissed her back showing all his feelings toward her and how long he kept it to himself to scared to tell her with words. Leo couldn't even trust his mouth with the right words to say, he knew what would happen if he did he would say something really stupid.
