Ok so my idea is as follows

My character is a retired centurion, he is given a 30 acre parcel of land near the border with today's Spain along with nearly a hundred slaves and six roman families living under his protection, he is in his late thirties and was retired so young because of a debilitating injury on his last campaign that left him with a limp and a prescription for herbal painkillers. He lives in a villa, a modest one at that, no sense making something astonishing near enemy territory. He has about 75 soldiers garrisoned on his estate, simple Hastati light infantry nothing too fancy...anywho

I'm looking for people to partake in this centurions life as either a gladiator(s) under his sponsorship, a friend from one of the families, one of his servants or agent(s), any number of roles the life of a roman serf brought(farmer, fisherman, woodsman/hunter and so on...

there will be action in this rp i assure you because theres rebels and brigands aplenty seeing as this rp was inspired by RTW.

Any questions mayhaps or interests please feel free to buzz in

What era did you have in mind? Christian Rome has a distinctly different feel from Pagan Rome, after all...

Who is the emperor? How powerful is the senate? Who has the centurion fought against? What is his reputation among those who are not close to him?

Pagan era cus theres less drama, as for the historical correctness ive decided not to stick to that so much as it would limit and/or force the roleplay in a certain direction. That frankly is no fun

The senate and the emperor will play little part in the life of a retired centurion, but as always the senate is all powerful. He fought against germanians, gauls, britons, even carthaginians and spaniards at some point.

His reputation is of a stalwart and proud individual who never did back down from a fight and who runs his estate much like he would run his legion back in the day, tough but fair as fair goes amongst serfs and slaves

Exactly, being too historically correct is such a pain because it limits the players an GM into a tight box defined by the memory of long dead historians who may or may not have got it right

Is it going to take place after the Punic wars?

I'd assume since Carthage is going to be involved then it would be after the first Punic war?

Is the centurion from a patrician ancestry? If so i was thinking maybe his brother got some education and he's now his lawyer (and philosopher). I'm not sure how historically accurate this is. It might be that unless you were prosecuted for a capital offence (in which case you would be judged in rome and a senator could represent you) you'd have to represent yourself.
If anyone (#bigsearch) knows more about this than I do, please share.

Anyway if i can't be a lawyer I'd be a hunter, so i'm in regardless.

1. after caesar
2. after the punic wars to avoid being pulled into the mass conflict
3. Yeah he is of patrician ancestry as well all centurion are, i never really thought about a lawyer/philosopher, very nice thinking youre welcome to play that

now for a question of my own..are we ready for me to open?

I'm an antiquities nut but a bit of a correction. Centurions command Centuries groups of a hundred men. Generals commanded legions.
