The sun shone down on yet another day in Gensokyo. Surprisingly, Gensokyo was actually subject to truly bad weather for once, rather than unnatural mist and bizarre oddities like geyser mist. Bad enough, in fact, that even the stronger youkai were staying inside rather than contest the winds (well, Aya and Sakuya could possibly be exceptions due to their abilities to more or less ignore external factors on movement) for the few days until the worst of it had passed.

And thus, when the weather reached Marisa's namesake, those wandering Gensokyo would be left wondering what the odd objects strewn here and there about the landscape were. A glassy screen that responded when you pressed a button (though some demanded unlisted passwords), large squares with hinges and dozens of brittle squares with letters imprinted upon them... and those were only the rarest items. Somehow, the outside world had dumped its produce into Gensokyo during the storm.

Marisa had taken steps to keep herself from betting soaked in the rain. Granted, it was mostly just wrapping herself up in a makeshift poncho, but it kept her out of the soaking wet and made sure she was nice and dry. There was a very specific reason that she was out in such miserable weather, and it wasn't for pleasure. She really wasn't to keen on flying out in the rain, even if there was a fun danmaku battle she'd want to reschedule for this weather! No, her purpose here... was to uncover what this was. It was this weird kind of little box that flashed lights and said 'no signal' when she pressed certain buttons on the front. She knew about some outside world stuff, but not this! It didn't look like the things she'd learned about in some of the manga she got from the outside world, either...

The perfectly ordinary witch cruised low over the field. She was heading for the human village, or the first person who looked suspicious and could potentially be linked to the appearance of this device. Whichever came first. All the rain would but a damper on the fun of a danmaku duel, though... So really, she was mostly planning on getting to the human village and bugging people to see if they knew about the thingy. There had to be someone, right? Or maybe Kourin would know, though she on-and-off wasn't really sure if Kourin actually knew what the hell he was talking about.

... Maybe she could drop by Alice's place and steal some books on the way back, too... It's not like the youkai magician would ever expect her to drop by in this weather, right?
Remilia stared blankly at the... thing in front of her. What was it? What was this confusing object that sat there, like that... looking like... that. The childish vampire had no idea what it was. She'd certainly never seen the likes of it herself. All she could do was stare at it in confusion. Sakuya didn't have any answers, and neither did Patchouli or anyone else. Just what was this thing she was staring at right now? It had simply appeared on her nightstand, and she had to take it downstairs... she was certainly aware of the technology that lay in the outside world. But this... this was something she did not recognize. And it puzzled her to no end. It was... it was frustrating, really! But at the same time...

... It was something new. Remilia liked new things, even when it was frustrating trying to figure out what they were. The rain outside made the prospect of leaving quite unpleasant, especially for a vampire like her. But an umbrella would provide plenty of protection from it as long as it wasn't windy. So, that was that, she supposed.

A few moments later, the small vampire was prepared to leave, equipped with an umbrella.

Shujiko Ishi's timing was pretty bad.

It sucked that a storm had to pass over Gensokyo so soon after she'd arrived. The willpower youkai hadn't even managed to really search for anyone worth fighting. At least she had found somewhere to stay, though. Sure, it was tiny, drafty, dusty, mouldy and liable to collapse at any second, but this random shack just outside that village gave her somewhere to sleep. And hide from the rain. Shame that the wind was practically unimpeded, though.

The brown-haired youkai sighed. This was not helping her boredom at all. When was this stupid storm going to end? Nothing interesting could happen at all while it was raging outs-

Before Shujiko could react to the strange snapping sound overhead, a rectangular object smacked her skull, stunning the youkai temporarily. When she regained her senses, Shujiko noted two things; there was now quite a bit of rain falling steadily on her throbbing head, and... the thing that had tried to crack her skull lay beside her.

Shujiko had seen a laptop once or twice before in passing, but had never actually learned about them. She vaguely recognised it, but the object was completely foreign to her. It was coated with rain, and when opened, revealed a giant, confusing array of buttons and a black screen. She tapped experimentally at it, but nothing seemed to happen.
"...Why did this come flying through the roof?" Shujiko muttered with a confused frown, shuffling away from the leak. Had someone thrown it away? It seemed somewhat unlikely, who would wait until there was a storm to just chuck thing weird thing away? And through the roof a random shack at that?

Shujiko glanced outside the dirty window. She doubted there was anything to see, even if were crystal clear, but she considered weathering the storm to find the culprit. After all, her head hurt and now the mattress she had found was both dusty and wet now.
