I have to wonder... How did a fleet of Ralgon ships get that far without running into ships of any other nations? I don't see an explanation... Though with the Daemonrexa, they tend to ignore ships of unknown origins until recently, when they finally decided to get involved with the world a bit more.EDIT: Any chance that we could set up a google doc for collabs in the future? I sense that we might need to collab soon, Haz. The next post after yours, for example, might go faster that way and more fluidly...

The general assumption is that other naval powers know exactly who the Ralgons are. They've got small groups of ships in far-flung places, and not just their homeland (where only about half the navy actively resides).

I feel that you ought to have a working google doc. I'm sure you'd agree with me after witnessing first hand what trying a collab without one would do to the post, am I right?

First off, I think that less drama could have been involved with creating the RP itself in the first place. A firm hand could have been used, and if someone gets too far out of hand, you as the GM do have the right to remove someone from the roleplay entirely for causing trouble. In addition, firmly addressing the problem early would have helped out as well. From personal experience, I've had an RP die because I didn't take decisive action early and often to make sure that trouble didn't get out of my own control.

Secondly, involvement with as many people as you could would have made posting for the others more conducive to carrying the RP on. From what I saw there weren't very many posts involving interaction between Naqah and more than one/two factions, in spite of the fact that it was surrounded by quite a lot.

Third, you had a case of bad luck. With exams just starting, people don't have as much time to devote to RPing as they normally do. Don't sweat it. When the month's done you won't be worrying nearly as much about other people's time constraints.

Well, I'm planning on doing a renaissance era NRP next, where I'll play a more Switzerland or Vatican City style role.
I feel I've learned a lot, but unfortunately not in time to save the RP. By the time I get to the Renaissance RP, I'm sure it'll be bigger and better than this one.

Any suggestions for names?

I'm sorry man. Just the fact that my arch rival dropped out took the wind out of my sails. I had lots of plans around that. And also I'm working a lot lately. Please pm for the next one

I have a long list of things that I have in response to your question on how I think the RP did, and you as a GM did, but I'll keep it to myself and just agree with Cosmic 100%. I will add in one part, in that I believe that many of the problems could have been solved had you had better insight, or followed through on insight given to you, but mistakes is all in the game and it's what will help you grow as a GM and a player as well.

As for the new RP, I can't comment on it, since I won't be joining, but I wish you luck in your endeavor, and if you ever need a bit of advice, hit me right in the PM box ;)

No, no, no, you're not pulling that trick on me. I want honesty, not some mindless nattering. I cannot grow and develop and improve if I ain't given constructive criticism. Tell me exactly what you thought and leave no detail out.
Yeah, okay, I was cowardly. I was hesitant to take control of the situation because I thought I'd make things worse. But I've learned from my mistake and I'm certain my next RP will go much better and much smoother.
Mind you, if you and Ender hadn't been such dicks to each other things would have gone smoothly anyway.

Yeah, actually, about that. If you would have actually read any of the OOC from both this RP and the failed one that he killed previously, you would have seen that the issue was with him, not with me, but by all means, go ahead and think that I had part with it as well. Enjoy your new RP, I won't be coming back to this thread, or any of your threads in the future. One day you will come to see exactly what I was talking about in PMs and this OOC. Don't make the same mistakes again.

That's very sporty of you, Alf. I feel that you as GM can't take all the blame for the failure of the RP even if you're new and flawed. The regular members have just as much responsibility in keeping the RP afloat, and this is quite apparent as the few more indecisive guys decided to drop out and most of the rest wouldn't even keep trying with the RP and stay with it.

Piker...
You rose to it. You goaded him and argued back. Therefore, you're just as, if not more, responsible for the RP's death.
Good riddance.

You ask me for honesty and when I give it to you, you throw an insult in my face? So be it, you want to know how you did as a GM? Here it is. You sucked, and really I was prepared fully to simply write it off as inexperience and perhaps observe your threads in the future to see if they were worth joining again. After your last comment, I see that you not only don't want to improve, but you are fully pleased with yourself in how you did, and how not one, but two consecutive threads died due to YOUR failure to contain an incident and keep the RP moving. You allowed a hostile player to continually spark arguments and incite hostility against players who were eager to provide character interaction, and then allowed that player to bully their way through arguments without saying anything against it. You gave up your responsibilities as GM for the first thread, then thrashed and whined when someone far more responsible and experienced was moving the RP along and didn't recognize you as head GM anymore. Not only myself, but several other players also asked you and Grave via PM that you remove Bored after countless arguments and you still failed to do so, even when you were there and witnessed his attacks.

Not only that, but the very reason why you threw in the towel and gave up GMing the first thread, you repeat right here, and slander another player you is giving you an honest opinion. Multiple people gave you advice on what should be done, and how to go about it, I even sent you a list of things needed to be done in order to keep the RP moving, a list that you very clearly saw since you did indeed follow through with some of the bullet-points. Until you can learn to handle the criticisms of others, and to recognize your own failings, every single RP you make will die, without fail. That is your failure, and that is what you will be rewarded with. The only person responsible for the death of this RP is You. So go ahead and miss me with your bullshit.

As if you were more responsible. You would have handed all your friends Dragon Engines whilst the rest of us would have struggled with sticks and stones, if Boerd's testimony is to be believed.

Yes, Boerd was aggressive in getting his point across. But you taunted him, stuck your nose into issues that didn't concern you, you twisted my arm and you act all self-righteous. I wouldn't act out of fear of your response. I see now THAT was my mistake. Trust me, it won't be repeated.

And of course, I recognise my own errors. I was overtly-hesitant and single-minded, with an "out of sight, out of mind" train of thought. But you and Boerd just couldn't keep it to the PMs, could you?

It was YOU who instilled an atmosphere of hostility and fear, not me. It was you who argued constantly with Boerd, not me.

And when I PMed you and Boerd, telling you to calm down, you know what he said?
"Ok then." Just like that. He didn't argue, debate or whine. He got on with it, something you seemed very hesitant to do.

When I look at you, Shimm, I see an RPer who gets what he wants with little resistance, pulling the old "I'll quit if you don't" trick at every viable situation. You won't get that from me, not anymore.
HazmatLyra is through with your nonsense. You either accept that YOU ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT or you GTFO. Your choice.

And you know what? It would have went swimmingly without you. This RP died for a couple of reasons, one of which I admit, was my hesitancy to meet the other nations and get the ball rolling. But it was timing too. Exams are upon us, and we don't have a great deal of time to flesh out an entire nation.

Don't act like what happened with you and Boerd is what killed the RP. And don't assume that you know how I feel. I made mistakes - we all do. The difference between you and me, and what will mean my RPs will get better over time whilst yours stay at the same stagnant, mediocre level is I can not only accept failure, but see my flaws and why I failed. And I will then improve.

I'm sick of you. Get out of my thread, and don't come back to any of mine until you learn a little humility and acceptance.
I repeat, good riddance.

Oh man, my sides, they're killing me. You are literally too stupid to argue with.

This, everyone, is a bad GM, one who will look to blame all of their own failures on the players, and do anything to save face, even if it means throwing people under the bus when they tried to help. All while this thread was going, Hazmat cried to me about how they "Just wanted everyone to get along" and how they couldn't kick anyone from the RP, despite clear and obvious evidence that Bored was an asshole.

What's even clearer is that you really don't care about any of the players in your thread, the proof being where you ask for honest feedback, and then slam those that tell you how you did. What the fuck is that? You then demand humility and acceptance, when you can't even see how you failed this RP and the players in it. You don't deserve to GM anything, that was clear when you first tried this. That you are now trying to pin all of this on me is just beyond hilarious. Own your failure scrub, and don't try to imitate me, you're not good enough at it.

So in other words, exactly what you did with Realms. OK.

Anyway, I am game for round 3, Haz.

As a person who staunchly believed you didn't do anything wrong even when everyone else jumped on the hate machine (for their own reasons, of course), I'm fairly certain Shim didn't blame everyone else for the demise of that particular roleplay.
