The King of Briton, Uther Pendragon, is dead. The kingdom he conquered and united is now in disarray. Mordred le Fey, Uther's stepson and Lot, Lord of the Orkney Islands, now war with each other. The lands are ravaged, the people starving and without hope. The only solace the common folk find is in the ways and teachings of the new faith, Christianity. As more and more people accept the dogma of Jesus Christ, the old way has begun to die out. The fey creatures are vanishing, and what little magic there was in the world has begun to wax and wane. Some say that the change is inevitable. Others still say that without the spirits of nature, the land will soon die. The only thing that is known for sure is that Mordred and Lot will turn the land into ash with their war.

But not all is lost.

Every year since Uther's death, a great tournament is held on Easter Sunday. The winner of this tournament is given a chance to pull Uther's sword, Excalibur, from a great stone. With his dying breath, Uther cast the sword into the mighty stone, claiming that only his heir would be able to pull it free. Many have tried, including both Mordred and Lot, but the sword remains.

This year, nearly 18 years after Uther's death, a young boy named Arthur, goes to the tournament as his older brother's squire. Little does he know, that his fate, and that of the realm are to be revealed to him.
------------
This is my newest attempt at this King Arthur RPG idea of mine.

Players can take the roles of either established Knights of the Roundtable or (if you can convince me) original knights. The story will follow the young Arthur, son of Ector and his friends as he learns that he is the son of Uther Pendragon and the rightful king of Briton.

If anyone would like to play a female version of one of the established knights, you are certainly welcome to.

Anyone interested?

Interested!

... though does 'established knights' include Arthur? Because that would be fun to do. GENDERSWAP THE WHOLE ROUND TABLE AND CONFUSE FRANCE/FRANCIA OCCIDENTALIS/THE CAROLINGIAN EMPIRE.

I am kind of tempted to just call Lancelot, but, um, hmmm...

If that's okay, I guess, and if no-one else wants Lancelot.

Seems to me the King is gonna be an NPC or something.

I'm curious as to how 'historical' this will be. I'm calling Sir Trystan, for example, so do I have to sail off to Ireland at some point and have a lengthy, dramatic affair with the woman I was supposed to be fetching? I mean, I know it's all fable and legend, but how much are we going to stick with the fables provided?

Wow, holy crap guys. I was not expecting a response so quickly. Ill try and answer some of your questions.

1. I'm gonna be playing Arthur, and Tristan is already reserved. Sorry :(

2. Its gonna follow the story of King Arthur only loosely. This is a story that I really want to turn into a novel some day.

What, really? I'm more surprised than distressed! :O I specifically went out of my way to choose someone less well-known.

Well, screw it, then. I call the peerless Ser Galahad. That means whoever is Ser Lancelot gets to have an illegitimate son hanging around, being all pure or something. Fun times.

I was kind of expecting no-one to take Galahad, actually. ^^; My idea for Lancelot kind of doesn't work well with them having a son, see. Um, hurm.

Well, it IS supposed to be an illegitimate son. He wouldn't have to have a fatherly air, necessarily. Or we could say he doesn't even know. Or even chop that whole relation out, if it suit ye.

Yeah, I can be flexible. Mordred isn't going to be Arthur's son, but his older half brother.

Well, um... I guess I'll explain. I kind of had this idea for adding an extra layer of tragedy to Lancelot, and, well... Basically it involved turning Lancelot into a woman. A, um... A gay woman. In medieval England. Which would lead her to feel that her love for Guinevere was even more forbidden and yeah saying it out loud it kind of sounds really dumb honestly. Um, hmmm.

...I should probably step back and rethink this, honestly.

Reasoning here is simple: if you want to turn it into a novel, you either already have the story in mind (read: railroading inevitable) or plan to use what we write as the basis, and I refuse to agree to that. So... not interested.

Also because all the remotely interesting characters are taken. Percival is basically Galahad before Galahad was added to the story, and is thus equally bland; the closest remaining guy to 'interesting' only achieves that because 'owns a lion'.

Ahahaha! That actually sounds interesting, in a very anime sort of way. But I can very much see how that would be an issue.
