Yikes. You don't even get the circle magic though! You lose a school of magic and gain a measly +1 vs spells of your specialization.. D:Be sure to slam on that LA 5 worth of templates, at least. I have a feeling that this campaign is going to be made to grind up even the best characters.

I'm not choosing Red wizards for any meta game reasons. I want to play a red wizard because red wizards are badasses in the lore. Any advantage or disadvantage is just something that is interesting to work around during gameplay. I will never pick a character based off how good their numbers will be during combat. I pick characters because I see something I want to play and/or I think that character will be a total badass.

I am considering playing a healer like a druid or cleric, but leaning towards a sorcerer because I am already playing quite a few healers in different RPs.

Unless anybody knows a better site I will likely utilize myth weavers to keep track of the sheets.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Myth Weavers has a correct 3.5 sheet.

Can you link it? I've tried using Myth Weavers before but never saw anything that looked like the 3.5 CS

Keep in mind there are variants of pretty much ever CS for every table top RPG. Ive made 3e, 3.5 and 4e characters on sheets that look nothing like in layout, but have the same basic content, i.e a skill chart, attribute chart, equipment, spells. As long as you have all the sections you need. It is a functioning character sheet.

I don't know if I can link you directly to one of my sheets but Ill try.

I was under the impression we were starting at level one, but with LA 5 for free. as far as I know you can't just take a level instead of using the LA. Slap on some templates? ( "there are no more "normal" humans, elves, dwarves or really any race or species").

Also, sorry to be critical of your character plan it's my nature to run the maths and build the most optimal character for my idea. I was just trying to help. :)

no problem. its just I never build characters off optimization. If I did half of ym characters wouldn't exist. I build to make intentional challenges to myself. I find out of combat more amusing than in combat for D&D and I build my characters according to those tastes.

We are indeed starting at level 1 and I plan to stick with people not trading LA for levels

fair enough
though are you going to at least use of your LA? I can think of a few templates that don't change your character outwardly that fit well with being a wizard of thay. Phrenic creatures are otherwise normal creatures whose minds are more powerful than those of their fellows. +2 LA; +2 Int, +2 Wis, +4 Cha; some nifty psionic things (power resistance, psi-like abilties as you level up (which you can always pass off as a natural magic aptitude)

Spellwarped creatures represent creatures changed by magic (khaos god, perhaps?).
LA +3, 2 Natural Armor, Spell Resistance, spell absorption (if a spell doesn't hit you because you resisted it, you get a neat bonus!), +2 Str +2 Dex +4 Con +4 Int

there you go you got a wizard of thay with +2 STR +2 DEX +4 CON +6 INT +2 WIS +4 CHA, Power/Spell Resistance that increases with HD, Natural Armor, Spell Absorption, and neat psi-like power progression for LA 5

neither explicitly changes outward appearance as a human, and gives you some neat boons. Again, I just want to help, because I feel like Omega's going to be throwing some pretty strong stuff at us. I understand wanting to focus more on out of combat stuff (hey, I'm a bard! that's my focus too), but I don't want your Red Wizard to die before he gets to even become a Red Wizard.
Omega, what Campaign name should we use for rolls so they're sorted nicely on the rolling website?
