Name: Jay Redmond

Alias: Eye Spy (eventually Big Brother)

Age: 20

Power(s):
Omni-vision/ Jay has the mutant ability to see anywhere in the current existence of Planet Earth.

Sub-Powers:
Multi-Angular viewing/ When Jay views something, he can do so from any angle, not just one from a human perception
Telescopic View/ He can zoom in to the atomic level of objects and beings
Retrospective Sleep System/ When it comes time to sleep, Jay slips into a retro cognitive trance. In the physical world this lasts 5 seconds and then he can sleep, but to him it lasts 24 hours, during which time he is viewing any and all happenings of the previous day. This helps him learn from whatever mistakes were made, he can help solve crimes, ect.
X-Ray Vision- not x-rays in the obvious sense, he can just see beyond any obstructions
Inhuman Occipital Receptors- Due to the amount of overloading stimuli, Jay's eyes are slightly larger than a normal person's, and the irises are multi-colored, they are constantly shifting whenever his power is in use.

Weaknesses-
Jay doesn't understand the concept of boundaries or personal space, and thus will invade another person if the situation deems necessary in his eyes
Also, in order to use said ability he must temporarily shutdown another sense, doing so will shift his personality
When he focuses in on a singular object or being, he will go into a state of tunnel vision, and to return his vision to normal he metaphorically must dig his way back into his own eyes
How long at the Institute?- 1 year

Favorite subject- Anatomical Studies

Favorite Teacher- Currently None

Bio:
Jay was a regular kid in in good ol suburbia, up until high school when he became aroused by voyuerism, and repeatedly got in trouble because of it. Whether because he was found peeking into the girls room at school, or slinking around and being generally creepy enough at night that the cops would come and arrest him.

During one stint in jail, his parents decided to enact tough love and sent him to a scared straight program. When going through a particularly rough cell block, a guard looked the other way while several inmates began beating into him, and nearly killed him, leaving him hospitalized. It was in his hospital bed that Jay developed his mutation, literally traveling the world without any restrictions, but his eyes were vastly changed and obviously different.

This caused him to be bullied even further, and it got to the point that his father disowned him for being so weak, that Jay began to study anatomy so he could fight back. Unfortunately, when he picked a fight with a well feared bully, who's parents were aware and tolent of mutants, Jay nearly killed the boy, but was stopped by a girl he had been looking at daily with his x-ray vision.

This was the last straw, and his family was evicted because of him. Ashamed, Jay ran away and lived on the streets until coming to Xaviers. Here he was treated vastly different from his old life, but it was hard to shake him of his old habits of voyeurism, and he would constantly get in trouble, which he didn't mind. Eventually he was found the perfect roommate to teach him humility and respect in the form of Steven Denzan

Those powers seem a little... too... not necessarily over-powered, but excessive. Maybe you should give him a range limit. Both on how far he can see and what he sees at one time. Like tunnel vision. While he can see anything, whatever he's currently focusing on is the ONLY thing his brain perceives. This isn't omni-vision. This is omniscience. It's more powerful than Wrath's Ultimate Eye. Minus the future paths thing.

Actually, omniscience is defined as having infinite knowledge. Jay is far from a genius, his mutation just gives him infinite visualization.

I'll see what KL says, if it needs changing I'll give him the following limit: if he's on a planet (like Earth), then he can only see on said planet, if he's in space, he can only see in space.

Maybe if he's like Molly walker and has to really focus hard, with a map...

Because in my opinion, a human version of Cerebro is way too OP

Not necessarily. It's synonymous with all-seeing. That was all I was trying to say. But it can also mean all-knowing.

Simple. I envision what the micro looks like as a real person. And comic book ladies? Dude, I have nerd crushes on both X-23, and Psylocke. Plus... well... this:

and this:

Gods, Robyn is such a major badass... and with an attitude to boot.

But my point was no one's ugly. Or unattractive for that matter.

Definitely interested, and I already have a character, if that's alright.

Name - James Venture

Alias - Chimera

Age - 18

Power[s] - Animal Instincts: James's instincts essentially allow him to perceive others as animals, in terms of where they stand on the "food chain" in reference to him based on power level. For example, an Omega level mutant, like Xavier or Cable, would be perceived as a tiger, and James would feel like a sickly, flightless bird. He can also use this ability to perceive relationships between people in a similar manner. Again using Cable as an example, he would be seen as a tiger cub to Jean Grey or Scott Summers' mama or papa tiger, and Jean and Scott would be seen as mates. This isn't typically a passive ability, he usually has to focus on the individual to perceive them this way, but if an Omega-level mutant or similarly powerful being were to threaten him, it would trigger a fight-or-flight response.

Animal Shapeshifting: James can assume the form of any animal that is known to exist, and can even add traits of other animals to his forms, creating hybrid forms, hence the nickname "Chimera". For example, he could turn into a lion, add a reptilian tail with spikes or quills on the end, and add oversized bat wings and become a manticore. He can also add animal traits to his human form, like wings, or claws, or scales, and can even assume an animal's internal layout without changing his form externally, like turning his insides to that of a mongoose to resist poison, or increasing his olfactory receptors to match those of a bloodhound, so he can track by scent.

Weaknesses - Standard human weaknesses, plus the weaknesses of whatever form he is in (poor vision as a bat or a rhinoceros, tiny, squishable body as a mouse, etc.), and while he can shift to an animal roughly the same mass as his human form in a few seconds, it takes longer for larger or smaller forms. Also, the stronger the predatory instincts of the animal he shifts into, the less able he is to control the form. If he's in bear form, and gets shot with a shotgun or something of similar power, he's likely to go berserk and lose himself in the mentality of a bear, to the point where it could take a psychic to retrieve his mind from the depths of the animal's. He also loses the ability to speak in most animal forms, though he can restructure his vocal chords to accommodate human speech, albeit with difficulty.

How long at the Institute - Two years

Favorite subject - Music

Favorite teacher - Beast, for obvious reasons.

Appearance - James has long black hair and gray eyes, tanned skin, and an athletic build. He tends to dress well, but never over-dresses, favoring button-down shirts and suit vests with dark jeans and brown or black leather boots. On his back is a large tattoo of feathered, hawklike wings, a tiger prowls up his ribcage on the right side, his left upper arm is encircled by a viper, and a tortoise adorns his right deltoid. His chest displays a bear, and his hips are inked with sharks.

BRIEF Bio - James was born in LA, to fairly well-off parents. His father is a music promoter, and his mother is a lawyer who is frequently employed by his father's musician clients to settle royalty suits or grievances against record labels. Growing up around the music business has rubbed off on James to no small degree, and he has been playing every instrument he could get his hands on since he was given a violin at age 5. His younger sister, Karen, was his primary source of grief before they were forced to relocate to New York. Karen is a shameless flirt, and James, protective of her by nature, hasn't taken kindly to her flaunting her sexuality in front of every guy she meets. When James was 16, his powers began to manifest, at first in the form of increased strength and agility, and in the middle of a baseball game in gym class. After offers to join the baseball team following his suddenly improved performance, black vans began following him, and he informed his father after he was chased down by over a dozen men with guns in black suits on the third night after that day in gym class. His father decided to move the family to Bayville, New York, since he had a number of contacts in the music industry in New York, but didn't want to live too close to the city. James was approached by Xavier, and after having mutants and mutant powers explained to him, he decided to join the X-men, making fast friends with Kurt Wagner and Kitty Pryde and discovering a kinship with Hank McCoy. He even developed a crush on Rogue, and was rocked as hard as anyone by her death.

Notes - James can usually be heard playing one of his dozens of instruments at any given time in the mansion when he's not in class or training in the danger room, and he regularly goes to a coffeehouse in Bayville where they have frequent open mic nights that he performs at, usually with a guitar or saxophone. His sister Karen is also a mutant, and I'll leave her power up to the GM. I mostly just want her living at the Institute and causing me grief.

Cerebro was eventually said to be a mutant with a connection to the machinery within the mansion, Joss Weadon made a new character out of her and she played a crucial role in the beginnings of the Astonishing X-Men. Cerebro could just locate any mutant in the world via a telepathic link, omni-vision is more like Gateway's power, just without the teleportation. Gateway can see or teleport anywhere in the known multiverse. And other than seeing into people's lives and such, wtf can this guy do? If we're in a fight he's as average as the next human. He could see anywhere in the known multiverse and I still wouldn't think he's OP, because in a battle being able to see far away or on another plane of existence isn't really gonna matter much...

Send me CS's!

I like this, just edit out the part about having a sister with sounds powers, that's Paingodson's powerset and even though it's a supporting character I don't want too many overlapping powers.
