Depends actually. With criminals I mean people who are slaving people and such. Indirect being a criminal, like that can offer some interesting things. Or maybe you could try to ally with somebody else that also has a character that is a backstabbing/plotting one. (Cough cough, Lesli. x3 )

Hmm, I'm just trying to think of what I can play best to live up to the RP, and I've always loved either a really snobby noble or a really dirty merchant if I can't go for a bad-guy (I always like to be the baddie) in this particular one I wouldn't mind being the merchant but I'm not sure how involved I could get if that was the case. I would have to align with someone I think but I would also need the power to grab grunts or possibly even assassins which I'm not sure would go down to well.

Well, Leeson isn't a person of kotavke status, but maybe your charpacter could be a government tax collector who uses people who are in debt as indentured servant/assassins/slave-in-all-but name. Leeson isn't exactly a warrior of notable skill, but he can act as muscle or a thug on behalf if your tax collector character.

Nope. We intended to do a realistic RP with a fantasy land based heavily on history, and as a result we won't have assassins in this RP. Unless you intend to dress up like a person belonging there and then when your target after a few days, weeks, months finally shows an oportunity, stab the fuck out of him. If you mean that, maybe. Ask Alice. Otherwise; this isn't Assassin's Creed. Assassins rely on stealth, not on extremely obvious 'I AM AN ASSASSIN' walking arsenals with fucking ridiculoulsy easy to recognise clothing.

So yeah.

Also, ask Alice. I'm just her pet cat that will scratch the everlasting fucks out of you if you do something unrealistic or ahistorical.

Oh, and I think having assassins or hired-swords on hand has been something noble houses have been doing since pre-Roman times. Of course, they wouldn't be wearing a uniform. Much of history has been influenced by the murders of key figures, wouldn't you say? The assassins themselves are inconsequential people, mostly just men with a lifetime of violence, it's all about those who point them forward.

Much like Roran said, there won't be any real assassin out here. Some might be hired or forced to end the lives of others at the whim of a noble or such a person. But a hired killer isn't something I want to accept for now. The focus is more on what has been shown for now, with the accepted CS's.

So far, nobody has applied to them. The heads of the Lesser Houses are the ones that kind of sub-rule over the members of that house. In order to make sure their house keeps helping their High House, they likely oversee that there are soldiers, servant and such trained in order for the High House (the Rynirs in this case) to be used. In repayment, they are allowed to have some scraps of glory or what so ever in return.

I get the limited starting position and class but am I allowed to claim he was originally born somewhere other than Awom as to have an eastern influence in my character? (The merchant I'm going with) and how successful can he be as a commoner?

Anywho, quick question: Will our first posts have to mention any significant plot-related event that hasn't been stated yet?

It's just I'd like to get my first post written out and ready before the RP starts (organization ftw and all that), but am wondering if I need to wait in case more information is released that would severely influence its details. I was just thinking of the standard character intro post, you know, Jymson going about his daily ordeals like it's any other day etc etc.

For now the only eastern influence I will accept are the looks of the character. I am considering that there is a far away country with such influences, but rather keep the focus on the current realm. Its already big and over the course, as more join and the story progresses, the world and such will too.

As answer for your question, no. The starting post will describe some events that might be important, but its the choice of your character to either make something up from that. (As most stated things will be rumours). After all, with the characters being limited for now in Awom, they might not care too much for what might happen in Easmar as that is a province too far away from their beds.

Not a lot of foreigners, neh? Well, you could still try to be a merchant who tries to hawk his wares as "Exotic treasures" and such. At the least, you could have your character make up a story that he's from another land. That's what I'm going to have Leeson do anyways.

Personality :
Haljon is an affable, boisterous character whose mood is rarely darkened. Out of battle he favors light jests and humor, though when in battle or nearing it he switches to dark humor. He is rarely grim, and makes for a hearty companion, one whose loyalty you need not question. Haljon lives for the thrill of combat, especially with whom he deems a worthy foe; which is a rare thing.

History :
Haljon was born into House Perar, his father a man-at-arms and his mother of low-nobility. From a young age, Haljon had a keen interest in martial pursuits, and could often be found sparring in the courtyard or against other boys, including commoners (though this detail was much frowned upon by his mother). His father began teaching him swordplay at age seven, and while he mainly focused on these lessons, he also managed to learn to read and write, though his penmanship is horrid and his reading laughably slow. Haljon learned basic manners and some arithmetic, though he was never good at either. However, Haljon proved to have a keen eye for strategy and tactics, and he adored military history.
Haljon was formerly taken into his father's tutelage at age fourteen. By this time Haljon was the size of a full-grown man, and his growth showed no signs of slowing. By sixteen he would be taller than his father, who was considered a fairly large man, and by eighteen he would reach his full height of nearly seven feet tall. Along with his enormous size came a tremendous strength, and he was often compared to an ox in that respect. Haljon also proved to be a more than competent swordsman, and one with a surprising amount of speed and agility. Coupled with both a weight and reach advantage, he proved to be quite the formidable foe after he was formally knighted in his twenty-first year. Since then he has been serving House Perar, and thus House Rynir, loyally, dreaming of great adventures and battles to be partake in.
