Lauren stared blankly at the computer screen, reading and then re-reading the message displayed on it.

Thank you for participating in the Closed Beta!

Lauren sat back in her chair, trying to process it.

What does that even mean?

She sighed, moving the cursor to the corner of the screen and closing the browser window. She tried to convince herself it was all just a stupid joke. Initially, she'd been excited when she saw the discussion thread on the forum. The name of the website intrigued her, and with the mention of a Closed Beta, her enthusiasm only increased. But the message she just saw left her feeling confused more than anything. Nothing happened. She sort of expected their to be another secret link somewhere on the new page. A download link or something. Nope. She clicked frantically, and even tried tabbing to cycle through each element. Nothing. So her excitement quickly left her, replaced with confusion, impatience, and disbelief.

Looks like it really was a joke.

She blinked, and only then registered that her eyes were heavy. She turned her head, her eyes settling onto her clock. The red numbers glared back at her, displaying the time as 1:56AM. Lauren sighed again, before shutting off the computer and lying on her bed. Tomorrow was Easter Sunday, and her parents were going to bug her to come along to church with them, even though her answer was always the same every year: no. She buried her head into her pillow. She just wished that they would get the hint.

She turned, laying on her back. For now, she needed to get to sleep. Still though, that website stayed in her mind. Even as she slowly drifted off to sleep, she was still thinking about it.

Elsewhere, Simon Hunter did a very similar thing.

The mysterious web page had intrigued him; he'd always been fond of MMOs, and anytime a new one was unveiled it gave him a thrill of anticipation. But this was different; it wasn't just an ordinary MMO, but a mystery to be solved. No buildup, no public unveiling, just a mysterious website with a mysterious message. To further add to it, a couple of weeks later a closed beta was announced.

Simon wanted in, if only out of curiosity for this strange unknown game. But no offers ever went up. There was nowhere to apply. He began to doubt the likelihood of the game actually existing. A hoax, it seemed, was the general explanation, to Simon's disappointment. Mysteries were a personal fascination with him, and the revelation of trickery never failed to frustrate him.

Tonight, though, he discovered a mysterious new message whilst checking the site for the last time of the night. When someone pointed out the hidden link in a chat room, he'd checked it of course. Everyone said it was just an error, but Simon held out a little hope. What he got was another mystery, though. This wasn't what they'd talked about. He hadn't signed up for a closed beta; after all, as far as he'd seen there was nothing to sign up for!

Oddly though, nobody else seemed to find the message he'd encountered. Simon checked all over the page for the next ten minutes, trying to find another secret, another clue, something to explain this. But nothing came up. It was so annoying; Simon hated things without solutions. It was just annoying that he wasn't smart enough to figure this whole thing out, especially since he'd kind of wanted to try that mysterious new MMO sometime.

Finally, tired and frustrated, Simon went to bed.

He didn't get up the next morning.

Laine stretched and yawned as the screen said;

Thank you for participating in the Closed Beta!

I haven't really participated in anything though, so it was a hoax?
he laughed to himself and then says "Oh well, I don't mind, seems like alot of people are quite angry though." As he drags his cursor to the red 'X' on the top right. He remembers how he found this site through a forum he was active in, thinking it was pretty interesting, he went to the website and had a small sense of hope. He couldn't find anywhere to sign up. "Weird" he thought.

After making a topic about seeing the
Thank you for participating in the Closed Beta!

No one else seemed to get the message and people were calling him a fake, much to his annoyance but simply dismissed it. Looking at the time he sees that it's 11:54, "Oh well, i'll talk to the people in the forums tomorrow, maybe get this whole thing sorted out" He mutters while laying on the bed.

He never got a chance to.

Jacenta clicked on the mystery link, expecting a 404 error like the abundance of others on the forum. She was tapping on the left side of the keyboard impatiently, waiting for it to load. "I knew it, those guys were- Okay." She spun around tons of times in her chair, expecting there to be a 'Just Kidding!' in the corner.

"Thanks for participating in the Closed Beta."

She was currently in an IRC chat, as well.

wtf was it?
a closed beta
lol wtf
I only got a 404 error
You're probably seeing things
lol what are you smoking
are you on cocaine

She wanted to think that they were right. She needed to think that they were right. If she kept saying 'no, it was real', she'd, obviously, be a laughingstock in the community. That happened to many other people in the IRC, and, obviously, they had to move.

'probably. I need sleep anyways.' was one of her last few comments. She took the rest of her night to think about the link. It obviously wasn't an error to her. She saw the thread on the forums, and other people it too. So, she naturally thought maybe others didn't have the right browser or something. She went to sleep at about 4 AM that night, since she was sitting there for a while, puzzled.

"A closed beta...that sounds awesome!" Oscar said as he read the few words on the page. He had heard about this mysterious web page very recently through a forum, and only checked it out because of mild curiosity, he certainly wasn't expecting to find anything like this. "Kind of odd that they'd thank people before they even got to play, but it sure is polite of them." After waiting for half a minute, he became suspicious when nothing happened. He poked his computer a few times "is it...is it broken?" he asked himself "mommmmm!" he called out to his mother, the family computer nerd. "...Dang it, she must have left already" with that realization, Oscar started to pout "nuts! I wanted to play, it sounded cool. Oh well, maybe I'll get to play tomorrow." Feeling a little disappointed, Oscar went to bed

Cris / The Free Spirit

"Rosa, I'm going to be in my room call me down, when dinner's ready!." Cris just got home from the gym, he had to check his laptop, he had gotten a message on his phone, about a new game. When Cris logged into his email account he saw the link. When he had click the words on the screen, next thing that popped up was, Thanks For Participating In The Closed Beta! Cris was confused when nothing else happen after that. "That's it?, Nothing else, what a rip off." Cris went to lay on his bed and fall asleep, listening to music. Maybe it was just a slow game or something. Cris hated when the game lagged, before he could even play it. He would just leave the laptop on, and maybe when he had woke up after awhile, the game would be on. It seem like a fun and interesting game, Cris was looking for a new game so this would work.

George had been gaming all night and all night his guild mates had been begging him to check out this strange website. Finally George decided to do so when he logged out. He went to the website and clicked the link that was supposedly an error. The page loaded. "Thank you for participating in the Closed Beta!" the page said. George let out a little laugh and then said "How cute." He thought to himself. It was obviously a joke. If there really was a beta he would have had to put in some kind of information to get in. Hell there would a least be a download link. "Who would buy this crap?" he thought to himself. He looked at the time. Perhaps he needed some sleep. He'd continue gaming tomorrow as it was his day off. He he clicked the x on the page and turned off his computer. Then he went to bed.

...One misclick had her signed up for a beta now? ...A frown graced Eika's lips as she sat back from her desk and tapped her pen on the notebook to her side, page upon page filled with short code ramblings to correct errors that had been put inside of her start-up testing. She'd been working on this for so long that she'd skipped breakfast and lunch, and only now did the hunger hit her. Ugh, the growling in her stomach made her flinch a bit as she shoved her chair back and sighed as she closed out of the tab. She'd gone through four tylenol for her headaches and six glasses of strawberry soda to keep herself awake, and honestly? She was starting to feel a little sick now, thanks to the lack of food consumption.

"...Eh...Whatever...I'll stop here for the night. Starving..."

Up she went, traversing from her bedroom to the kitchen to scavenge through the refrigerator, eventually settling on a bowl of strawberries and a mozzarella stick to provide salvation from this hungering urge that her body so needed to be filled prior to heading back into her room and flipping off the switch in order to turn the lights off. The glow of her screen and the hologram-projecting alarm clock at her bedside were all that she saw, a sigh coming to her lips as...Once again...Her mother would not be home tonight to provide some form of human companionship. Hitting the play button on her clock, the CD within began to play a song -- though, one of her preferred -- that was truly drained out as a result of her now-overwhelming tire from her recent workings.

"...Tomorrow...I'll finish up the basics tomorrow..."

And with that, she threw herself onto her bed, tugging up her covers around her body and curling up into a ball to fade off to sleep. Even if night hadn't come yet, she needed to catch up on the hours she'd spent typing through the night or she'd be falling out soon enough. The much-needed dreaming state, the only time she actually took a BREAK from working...Ah...Finally...Her eyes closed and she dosed off in a matter of moments. The same end to the same night as always...

"Muhuhu..." The ominous sound of dark laughter wafted from a slight figure perched upon her swivel chair, her eyes roaming about the screen so fast that it was a miracle that she didn't become dizzy. This villainous sounding person was none other than Atori, a girl who could only be described as a manic. With the only source of light coming from her computer, the majority of the room was either bathed in blue light or full of elongated shadows. Posters of various media adorned her wall, the majority either about Japanese media or martial arts. Takatakataktaktakatak.

Her face alit with the screen glare, Atori Hoshigane avidly watched her game come close to an end. Only then did her blazing blurring fingers come to a stop. "That was a fun air juggle.~" Onscreen, her avatar in the fighting game proclaimed victory with a V sign and a happy exclamation while her substantially larger opponent was doing an impersonation of a bear rug. With this, the girl had defended her spot from yet another challenger hoping to make a name for himself. Relaxing, the tense girl laid back in her seat with a sigh of relief. It was rather close, this match and now she could finally relax. Looking at the clock, she found it was getting rather close to midnight.

"Hm... Later then I thought..." The college student lightly stretched, popping noises emanating from her body even as she moaned ecstastically. "Still, I've defended my title." Logging out of the game, the girl looked around a bit before getting ready to turn off her PC. "Hm... Oh!" Retrying the link to this supposed new game, she found that a new message popped up. "Closed beta?" Curious, she waited. A few minutes later, nothing happened. "A prank? Hm..." Deciding that was enough for the day, the undergrad clicked Shut Down and flopped on her bed bonelessly. "Ah, I love you so much, Mr. Bed..." With that, the girl instantly drifted off instantly.

It was dark.

Lauren opened her eyes. Already something was off. Where was her mom? It was like this every year, her mom should have woken her up by now. Looking up, she didn't recognize the ceiling. Her ceiling was a calm shade of beige, but she was currently looking at a blank black space. She sat up, her hand on her head. Looking around, she saw nothing but a black void, even downward.

This definitely was not her room.

She stood up, her feet planted upon the... nothing she was surrounded by. She took a cautious step, just to make sure. And as her foot landed, something popped up in front of her.

Blip. That all it was. That's all that was heard before the blackness in front of her was replaced with a glowing rectangular panel.

Please input your username.

Lauren began to laugh. She laughed harder than she ever remembered laughing in her entire life. This was too much. This was crazy. She laughed for a good five minutes. Maybe more. And as it slowly died down, Lauren smiled at the window.

This is a dream. This has to be. It's just too silly.

Still smiling, she reached toward the panel, and touched it. The text box filled itself out.

KeyLime

Indeed, it was the name she used the most on the Internet. So it would make sense that she'd be thinking about it.

The text on the window changed.

Welcome to ReSet ReaLity! A world in peril needs your help! Join forces with other players to save Espereox! To begin, choose your class type.

At the bottom of the window, there were five buttons. Lauren scanned them. From the left, there was a shield, a sword crossing a dagger, a bow and arrow, a wizard's hat, and a cross. Lauren didn't hesitate, pressing her finger onto the button with the wizard's hat.

The text changed again.

You have chosen the Mage, the basic offensive magical class. Mages work away from the fight, belting the field with spells or summoning creatures to fight for them. At Level 20, the Mage can be promoted to a Sorceror, a Summoner, or a Spellsword.

Are you sure that you want to choose this class?

Hell yes she was sure. She always loved being the magic attacker in MMOs. She was a fan of spectacle, and nothing was flashier than advanced magical abilities. She pressed yes.

Lauren mentally patted herself on the back. Even if this was a dream, it incredibly realistic and super complex. She knew she had a great mind.

Good choice! You will make an excellent mage, I'm sure. You will be given your abilities and be transported to Espereox momentarily.

Her smile widened. She was going to be sad when she eventually woke up, but she might as well enjoy it as much as she-

Her eyes caught motion as, for only a fraction of a second, another message appeared.

This may hurt a bit.

What-

Then pain. An overwhelming pain that enveloped her entire body. Her vision turned white as she screamed in agony. A burning sensation covered her from head to toe and she fell backwards, curling into the fetal position. She squeezed her eyes shut, tears slowly leaking from them as she tried to wake up. A high pitched buzzing pierced her ears, and she began to sob as the blinding light penetrated her eyes.

And then it was over. Just like that. The pain was gone, the bright light no longer bathing her eyes, the high pitched buzzing quickly drowned by the natural sounds of the outside. All told, the pain lasted maybe twenty seconds at the most, but she didn't move from her position, and she didn't open her eyes, not even as the pain subsided.

She should have woken up when the pain started, but she didn't. This wasn't a dream. This was real.

Jacenta had woken up.

She wanted to get on the irc. She wanted to say, it was a hoax, its fake, it doesn't exist.

She wanted to still be in her room.

But no. She wasn't. Why? She didn't know. She wanted to just go out, for once. She wanted to go and have fun with some of her real friends. But she couldn't. She wanted to, but she couldn't. The world hated her, she kmew that. She never got to wake up one day with the intent of doing something, and actually do it. There was always somethingg that stopped her. It always happened.

She got up out of her bed, and a panel came up.

Input your username.

"...what? That can't be right." That isn't right. This has to be a dream. But, still, she entered her name.

laji-2

That was her name everywhere, pretty much from 2008 until now. She had an incredibly small music alias with it, as she quit early on.

Welcome to ReSetReaLity

It's a fucking dream. It has to be. This couldn't be real. No. It just can't.

She saw a bow and arrow, and pushed it. She loved ranged classes in lots of games.

You have chosen the ArcheR, thE baSic offEnsive ranged class. The ArcheR stands somEwhAt away from the fight, shooting a Large amount of arrows . At level 20, the Archer can be promoted. Are you sure you want to choose thIs class?

Yes, she was sure.

Good choice. You'll be a excellenT archer for Your teammates. You will be transported to Espereox.

If this isn't a dream, s-

This may hurt a bit.

She screamed. She screamed, shouted for help, needed someone to stop this great pain. "Wake up..." She managed to say before the amount of pain was almost moving her body. She held her ears, and it felt like there was a piercing beep going through her eardrums. She knelled down and thought, 'I can wake up, right?'

It stopped. Did she wake up? No.

It was real. Okay. This is new.

Cris / The Free Spirit

Cris woke up, not smelling the usual food, like chicken, macaroni, and fresh baked cookies. Instead he smelt foreign things, unreal things. When he stood up, everything was just blank, a black screen type place."Mom!, Dad!, Rosa!, anybody! Cris didn't know what was going on. When he started to walk and blue panel with a keyboard popped up.

Input your username here. Cris was confused, but he did what it said, The Free Spirit, it represented him in everyway. Then different class icons popped up, a shield, a magician's hat, and the one Cris was looking for the Bow and Arrow icon. He clicked it.

" Hunters deal their damage from afar, staying out of danger and taking out enemies without giving them a chance to counterattack. At Level 20, the Hunter can be promoted to a Ranger, a Sniper, or an Engineer." Then another screen popped up, "Are you sure this is the class you want to pick?" Hell yeah!, Cris clicked the button for yes. He loves being range class, it was the best, a mix of physical, and magical, who wouldn't want that?

"Great choice, you well be a great hunter, one of the best I can tell. You will be given your starter skills, armor, and weapons, then you will be transported to Espereox"

What's going on right now? Cris didn't know if he was still sleep or was drugged.

"This may hurt momentarily." Before Cris could even ask what was going to hurt, a shooting pain went through him, it was terrible.

"What the fu...!" Then Cris would have thought he would have woke up, like when the kids in the Nightmare On Elm Street had been in pain. He was still in the foreign world, but in a room somewhere, he had to find out how to get out, or find someone.

Yawning and getting out of bed, he wanted to clear up the misunderstanding but was instead greeted with dark emptiness, after a while, Laine thought he was in a dream and that he'd soon wake up anyway;

Input your username.

Laughing and deciding to go along with this frantic dream, he inputted "Patreoneux", a nickname he always uses on every forum or game that he knows.

Welcome to ReSetReaLity

Then suddenly the class icons showed up, scrolling past the wizard hat, sword and shield, bow, he finally saw that he wanted; Daggers, he wanted to be a Fighter;
The basic offensive melee class. Fighters specialize in quickly taking out singular targets, dodging attacks, and exploiting enemy weak points. At Level 20, the Fighter can be promoted to an Assassin, a Blademaster, or a Brawler. then another popup came Are you sure this is the class you want?" Clicking at yes, he was amazed at how detailed this dream was. Who wouldn't want to quickly annihilate their opponents? Laughing to himself, it then said;

"Great choice, you well be a great fighter, one of the best I can tell. You will be given your starter skills, armor, and weapons, then you will be transported to Espereox"

"Espereox? What is that place? Is this even still a dream anymore?" he asked himself.

"Grit your teeth, this'll hurt a bit"

"What? What do you mean this'll hu-" A stinging pain came over Laine, donning a fetal position on the floor, he screamed in pure agony, he screeched. Deafening buzz come out of nowhere.

Then all of a sudden, the pain stopped, Saying to himself "A bit? A BIT? THAT WASN'T A BIT" he said cursing the game out loud while pumping an angry fist in the air.
"That pain, this isn't a dream, where am I? Espereox or wherever?" he says outloud while looking around to find out wherever he was.

Getting up, he sees hes wearing what looks like light armor, and then he sees two daggers, "So this is my weapon huh?" He says as he inspects them. He then walks around the temple, trying to find a way out. "Seems like I am in an underground temple? It looks old and ruined", thinking these thoughts he walks out and sees a girl, fainted on the floor and what looked like tears. He rushed over to her, saying "Hello? Are you okay?" and shakes her a bit, trying not to scare her.

Eika || Imagineer
Mage
Level 1

Darkness. That was what surrounded her. Upon first opening her eyes, Eika saw nothing but the blackness that pervayed her surroundings, beckoning her to take a single step forward -- and everything exploded into lights from that moment onward. The single step forward gave life to several holographic screens, each one saying "WELCOME TO THE CLOSED BETA", save for one in the middle that eventually landed in front of her, which merely said "WELCOME TO RESET REALITY". ...A tilt of the head came along as she looked down at her arm and pinched it. ...Pain. ...Just what had happened after she fell to slumber? ...She was not one to pass up new experiences. This much was true. So she began to run her hand over the screens surrounding her in a makeshift circle to continue onwards.

PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR USERNAME.

...Huh. ...Might as well don the mantle of her old MMO name and start it up. She tapped at the screen, expecting a keyboard to pop up on the bottom, yet it automatically placed her name inside the input area instead. A small murmur came along as she hit the confirmation button and the screens shifted again, this time to show her three different icons.

PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR BASIC CLASS.

A sword and shield -- the warrior. Bow and arrow -- the archer. Staff and pointed hat -- the mage. Not even a moment passed before her hand pressed down on the Mage's icon, eyes closing as she listened to the explanation behind it's purpose. Yes, yes, this was beginning to seem like the traditional MMORPG placed into a more personal manner of showing itself. Interesting as it was, she already had her class preferences set in stone the basis of preferred playstyle.

The Mage is a powerful spellcaster meant to stand in the back of fights and bring down hell upon her opponents with powerful AoE damage spells. At level 20, the Mage may take a class advancement to become a Sorceress, a Summoner, or a Spellblade.

Are you sure this is the class you want?

..Hah. At least it let you go back if you screwed up. Her hand slammed down on the confirmation button, and she awaited for the confirmation and presumed "entry" into what would be the "gaming" world.

Great choice. You will be a legend of a Mage. You will be given your starter gear, items, and starter abilities. Your starting area will be Espereox.

...And we apologize for any inconvenience that you may experience during the transition.

She only has a split second to question the apology before she keeled over on the floor, holding herself as pain opted to literally overwhelm every single sense in her body without even as much as a forewarning proceeding its existence. And she could see it. Flashes of fires, lightning, summoning rings, blades imbued with runes set ablaze...Thousands of fraction-fast images of the classes in relation to hers going through her head before she managed to notice her clothes at last. Her dress had become decorated, something more fancy even, as the threads unwound and rewove themselves to twist and dance into sashes of some sort to give her a mystical form of look. ...And then it was what it was. The slightest fraction of developing light came round as she felt a solid form materialize in her hand prior to her blacking out -- a pain tolerance was never something she was renowned for -- and the only question she could ask in her wavering consciousness was...

Why now?

Lauren didn't move when she heard shouting from far away. She didn't even move when that same voice called out to, presumably, her. It was only when she felt hands on her that she opened her eyes, only to see someone stooping over her, shaking her.

She screamed, kicked, and shuffled back away from the other person until her back was up against a wall. She was breathing heavily, trying to calm herself down. She wasn't scared, she was just surprised is all. Yep. Surprised.

She looked around, getting a better look at her surroundings. It looked like a small temple, or some sort of shrine. The walls were musty and cracked, vines seeping their way through the tiny imperfections of the architecture. Light streamed from overhead, as large windows near the ceiling deposited leaves into the room every so often. On the other side of the room, a huge pair of double doors framed the wall, made of old wood and rusted metal bars.

Next she looked down at her clothes. She was no longer wearing her pajamas. Instead, she was covered in a robe, like the ones mages wore in traditional RPGs. She noticed that there was a short stick, made of polished wood, hanging from her hip. She pulled it out of its strap, taking a look at it.

Wait a minute, does this mean I have...

And right on cue, another floating window popped up, one that only she could see. Indeed it was an inventory screen, showing that what she was holding was an "Old Wood Rod". It didn't look like she had anything else.

She looked back up at the boy.

"Where the hell are we?"

Jacenta- laji-2.
Archer level 1.

Her eyes were closed. She was still kneeling down, when she noticed that he pain really had gone away. She opened her eyes and saw something that wasn't the void that she was previously in. There were no windows floating in front of-

Then an inventory screen showed up. She had an "Old Wood Bow." "What?" She asked herself. No. That can't really be right. She didn't see it at all. Was it on her back? Most likely. She thought she might have a quiver. But, besides that, she saw that she had a change of clothes. She was wearing a tunic-looking thing, like archers in lots of other JRPGs and MMOs. She had a pair of boots on her as well, she noticed. She stood up and looked around the place.

It looked very old, and very dungeon-like. She saw-

"Hello? Are you okay?"

"Where the hell are we?"

Two voices echoed throughout the dungeon. So there was other people trapped in here with her. Huh. Unexpected, but very good, she thought. At least she had other people to travel with.

If she could find them.

Simon staggered as he arrived in the temple.

If this was a dream, it certainly wasn't the most pleasant one. He'd thought he was sleeping when it asked to input a username in the dark "room"; he'd offhandedly put in the one he was used to, Justicar. Then it'd asked for a class. Simon generally played the mage, but something told him he should pick the tank. So he went with Knight. An unusual voice encouraged him, and Simon became convinced he was dreaming.

Then he arrived in the temple. The voice had warned him it might hurt, but he hadn't expected it to actually hurt. He'd never felt real pain in a dream before, so when the blinding pain behind his eyes began to subside he managed to croak, "What...what the hell?" Dreams didn't hurt. Ergo, this wasn't a dream. But what else could it be? What, was he kidnapped by government agents and forced into some strange simulator? That made no sense.

The website with the secret link. That nobody else saw. But what could it be? Was this the "closed beta"? Did he sign up for something he'd regret? That was rapidly seeming to be the case, Simon realized, as he gazed at his surroundings. He appeared to be alone in a small stone room. He was also wearing fairly heavy metal armor of some kind. Well at least that made sense with the "knight" selection. He wondered if he had a weapon...

A small, light blue screen popped up in front of him. Simon started in surprise, then gave it a closer inspection. It was labeled, "Inventory" and had a little picture of a hammer in it. He tapped it, and immediately it vanished and Simon found himself with a large sword of some kind in his left hand. He bit his lip; this was making less and less sense, or maybe too much sense. Was this some kind of game?

Also, this sword was pretty heavy. Simon thought it was a two-handed sword but had no clues outside of that.

Closed beta. If this was some kind of video game VR setup crap, Simon would eat his new sword. Hell, if this wasn't a dream he might as well do that. What was he going to do? Where was he? With a sigh, Simon moved across the room and pushed open the door.

Now he found himself in a much larger room. It was also empty. "Hello?" He called out. Surely if this was a game, there'd be someone else here, either an NPC or another player or a monster or something. He clung more tightly to the sword as he kept walking.

"Where the hell are we?" asked the mysterious girl.

Replying with a perplexed face he replied;
"I am not entirely sure, I thought this was a dream, I guess this is Espereox?
Just out of curiosity, were you on this website called 'ResetReality?' "

The girl, identifying her weapons and armor confirmed that she wasn't from here. Looking around he notices that this place might collapse on itself if they're not careful. Then suddenly a window popped up which said 'Inventory' at top, surprised he clicked 'store' and his daggers disappeared out of his hands and became an icon in the inventory. "Wow, this is amazingly complex, where in the world are we? In a game?" he asked himself. Knowing that he might need his weapons he clicked 'withdraw' and it appeared on his hands again.

Offering a hand towards the girl to help her up, he then hears a "Hello?" that echoed from another room. "Is that another player?" he asked to no one in particular.

...A flash of light. Then another. And another. Each in accordance to her eyes opening and closing as she slowly regained consciousness. Curled up in a tight ball, her arms wrapped around an ornate wooden staff, she came to in a terribly small room. Once she had her bearings enough to sit up, she canted her head to a series of shelves that held ruined books, destroyed jars, and ashes mingling with the settling dust. ...Where was she? On top of that, why did she feel so sick? A grimace came as she forced herself up, only to find the door leading out blocked by rubble and ruin galore. ...She should probably work on getting out of here...A quick smack of her staff proved completely and utterly ineffective as the ruins did not so even much as budge. It'd require at least three people, herself included, to get out from the looks of things...

...Let's see. One, this was a terrible place to spawn. Let that be known. Perhaps NPCs were around? A scripted event? Who knew. She was so damn lost at this point, that she was trying to treat it as normally as possible. First off, getting out.

"HELLO! Is anyone out there? A little help would be welcomed!"

Another slam of her staff against the door would be made, somewhat regretting her choice for this moment only as she surrendered to the fact that there just wasn't any strength on her to get out.
"I wonder if I have anything to-"
Just as she asked aloud, a screen popped up to her left -- Inventory. It showed the basic current equipment she wore. ...of course. Nothing of use to get her out of this situation. Just her luck. Note to self: Incorporate a noclip function when she made her first MMO, or don't let there be spawn points in the stupidest of areas.

When Atori woke up in the new location, roughly the same thing happened to her as everyone else. She had panicked at first, but then steadily got into the game as soon as she realized that it was like one of her favorite series. Then, without delay, she started the registration process. Skimming through, she put down her username as "Vinestar" and chose the class of Fighter. For one that took martial arts in real life, it was the best class since she would have a firm grounding. Then, she bit her lip hard enough to bring out blood as the pain overwhelmed her and consciousness was lost for a few moments during the transition.

Panting slightly, the girl uncurled herself to look at her body, which was now clad in the basic gear of her class. Old leather was clad on her body, and she found that her hands were clad in what looked like a cestus made out of recycled belts and rusty iron nubs at the knuckles. It was rather shabby looking, but hey, it'd help out with her strikes. Her surroundings looked like some sort of store room, though with nothing in it but dust and spiderwebs. Trying the door, she found that old age had caused the metals to rust, and thus no matter how much she pushed, was firmly stuck.

Taking a deep breath, Atori calmed herself once more and heard voices drifting from outside. "Are there others..." Now curious, Grey made it her priority to get out of the room. Examining the door via knocking about on it, she found that quite a few parts of it were old and brittle. Smirking, the girl assumed a stance- and performed a front stomp kick that blew the old wood outwards with a resounding crash. "Hehe, awesome. Just like in the movies." With that, she headed on out to find the others with a spring in her step.
