Avery sat at the bar, the red lights and smoke making it hard to see anyone which was how she liked it. She was on edge, which was expected after the day she had had...jobless and now not bond to her boss all in one day. Not a bad day in her eyes, but the energy and power surge she had gotten weren't easyto hide. So she went to the bar to hide. She knew she couldn't stay under for much longer, but she wasn't ready to go on the run just yet. She looked around, her senses telling her everything going on in the Hell Bar. One person was glowing like a Christmas Tree in a aura. Someone sho shouldn't be there at all....

Leon looked around, he needed to hide out for a while. The powers above were after him. The arch-angels would stop at nothing to stop him. He needed to hide somewhere where the minions of the angels couldn't follow his scent. His aura could be sensed, but the underlings couldn't sense auras. He sat at the bar and ordered a drink. His dark hair had fell over his eyes and he had his head down. He didn't want to be recognised by anyone. He couldn't risk someone seeing him, angel or otherwise. He could feel a darker presence, one that may be dangerous to him, but with him rebelling, he might be less of a target.

Avery spotted where the aura was coming from and knew he didn't belong down here. She noticed he was getting attention and knew he would be in trouble if she didn't do something. One really big guy tapped on the mans shoulder and said "hey maggot, your in my seat" Avery stood up and grabbed the mans arm. "Hey, back off. My man was waiting for me, so get over it" she pulled the man off the stool, her arm around his back. The bigger grunted and Avery rested her hand on his chest. "I told you to back off...."

Leon was confused, very confused. One minute he was about to be attacked, the next some random woman was saving his life. No, she wasn't a woman... She was a demon, but seemingly not completely, her aura seemed a little shaky, maybe she had quit? Or done something to upset the powers below? He wasn't sure, but what he was sure about was that she knew what he was, and she still just saved his skin. That would not look good on her, if anyone found out. He had to play the part. He placed his lips near her ear and whispered, loud enough for the larger man to hear, "leave him, he's not worth it."

Avery's eyes changed to gold as she glared at the man. He moved back and she said "that's what I thought...come on love, I'm done here" she pulled him with her, getting out the door and into the alleyway onto the Main Street. She kept her arm there as she said quietly "you've got quite the problem there, wing man....don't worry, your safe with me. You need a place to hide and my place is nearby" she was taking a big risk, but she didn't care at this point. She was ready to welcome death at this point

Avery's eyes changed to gold as she glared at the man. He moved back and she said "that's what I thought...come on love, I'm done here" she pulled him with her, getting out the door and into the alleyway onto the Main Street. She kept her arm there as she said quietly "you've got quite the problem there, wing man....don't worry, your safe with me. You need a place to hide and my place is nearby" she was taking a big risk, but she didn't care at this point. She was ready to welcome death at this point

Leon looked at her. 'Why?' He asked simply. There was no big question, no explanation, but he knew that she would know that he meant why was she doing everything to protect him. There was no reason for her to have stepped in at that bar, no reason for her to hide him, and certainly no reason for her not to kill him right now, on the spot. There was no need for this behaviour, but he just had to trust her. After all, if it weren't for her, he'd either be badly beaten or dead, by now.

Avery looked at him, trying to decide the same thing. She was a demon after all, but she had never felt like one in all the hundred years she had been in service. But now that the deal with her former boss had been broken, she finally felt free for the first time. She said to him as they walked into a condo building "I guess I want to make up for all the red my past...and you seem like your in the same trouble I'm in so....besides, I only kill demons and monsters. I don't touch things of the light"

Leon sighed. 'To be honest I don't think the light is so well lit anymore.' He looked down at the ground. 'My whole belief system was shattered in a matter of minutes, I'm beginning to think the whole system is corrupt.' He turned to Avery. 'Any way, I probably shouldn't be talking to you like this, I'm sure you don't wanna hear about my problems, seems like you have enough on your mind, without me adding to it.' He smiled sadly.

Avery opened one of the condo doors and said "trust me, I can handle most stuff. Come take a load off" it was a open space, a studio set up. She headed to the kitchen and started making drinks. "Couch is around the curtain. Please sit, you look like you've had a long day. Want to talk about it"

Leon sighed. 'From what I can sense I'm not the only one who's had a long day.' He smiled sadly at her. 'I'll share if you will.' He said, before taking a seat on the sofa. He still wasn't sure how far to trust this woman, but he guessed he could, what more could she do to prove herself, she'd already saved his life.

Avery walked back, holding two mugs of tea and handed him one. "I feel tea fixes everything..." She sat down by him and looking into the mug, thinking. Then she said "I've been a demon for over a hundred years...I made a deal with my boss. My deal was he would save my brother from a reaper...and he gets my soul. I was his hit man. Took out anyone causing him problems...until tonight. He wants me to kidnap an angel and get info out of him...I said that's not my deal. Its not my deal with him. So he threatened my brother, to bring him back from the dead and use him as a walking pawn. I snapped and tried to kill him...and my deal with him broke" She pulled up her jacket sleeve and showed him her wrist. It was bare. Which any supernatrual being would know that a demon bond to their boss would have their mark on that wrist. She said "So I'm a lone demon now...with a hit on my head. YOur turn"

Leon sighed, thinking before beginning... 'Angels have a duty of protection. We are meant to protect the innocent, be a guiding light in times of great distress, and comfort the lonely and the depressed. Or at least, that's what I thought... Lately the higher powers, archangels and the like, have been getting a little... tyrannous. They stopped us from helping people who don't have faith, atheists, for example. I didn't agree with that, I helped a non-believer and was sentenced to destruction. I fled. Now I have a good feeling they're going to be after me.'

Avery looked at him and said "I had heard about that...well I can't really talk about faith and all of that...but its wrong not to help everyone. I killed all types, apart from humans. Or angels...." She stood up and went to the huge windows, shaking slightly. "You can stay here as long as you want...no one will find you here..."

Leon smiled. 'Thanks. I would have stayed in the village I was at, but someone was trying to find me there, I could sense it, and I was worried. That's why I fled to that bar, I figured it would be more difficult to find me in there. They sent minions at me, which can't sense aura's, they just smell, and with the smoky atmosphere, I'd be fine. I'm sure to them, your demon scent overrides my angelic one.'

Avery nodded, folding her arms as she looked out the window. Something didn't feel right, and she alway listened to her sixth sense. She suddenly cursed and moved over to Alex, grabbing him and tossing him into the bedroom. "Stay" She shut the door and turned to see a pillar of fire in the kitchen and a fire demon appear, looking striaght at her and hiss. She sighed and said "You know...if you burn anything in my place, I will kill you painfully" The demon ran at her, tackling her and both of them hit the ground. They fought and tossed on the ground for a few minutes, both getting hard shots in. Avery kicked the guy off of her and got up, holding her ribs. He roleld over and pulled a blade from his belt, running at her again. She caught him and they hit the table, the blade barely touching her neck. She looked at the guy and her eyes turned gold. "Get...out of...my house!" She yelled and the shaodws around the room went nuts. They grabbed the demon and threw him across the room, Avery getting up and panting. He looked at her and said "He sends his recards..." Avery said "Send mine when you go back down there...kiss my.." Then she cried out in pain, a burning pain jumping from her side. She looked down and saw the blade sticking into her side, a rune on the hilt glowing. She curse and said "A murders blade...really?" She glared at the fire demon who had been smiling, now frowned. "Forget the message...you won't live to tell it..." She snapped her fingers and the sahdows wrapped around the demon tightly, like a stright jacket, then she nodded and the demon screamed before he explouded. She was panting as she slid to the floor, her hand over the blade. "Well...not too bad of a night...apart from dying that is..." then she hit the floor, her eyes closed.

Leon ran into the room, hearing the commotion. The demon was nowhere to be seen, but he noticed his saviour, who he still didn't know the name of, on the floor, eyes closed and bleeding heavily. He ran over to her. He removed the knife from her side and placed his hands over her wound. 'Come on.' He urged his powers. 'Work for me.' His hands suddenly glowed a bright white and her wound closed up. He checked her pulse, her heart was beating strongly. It was a little different to healing a human, but the basic principle was the same.

After the wound was healed Avery stirred, fighting to open her eyes. She was tapped out for going all out on her powers killing the fire demon, and she had been using her mental powers to hide Alex so he wouldn't be sensed. She turned her head, her skin clammy. This wasn't from the wound. Something was going on with her body.

Leon looked at her. Something was off. He didn't know what, or if he could do anything about it, but something definitely was not right. 'What is it? What can I do?' He asked, hoping someone, anyone, would answer him. He couldn't let her die like this. He couldn't allow this to happen. But he had no idea how to stop it.

Avery moaned and opened her eyes, blinking. "Well...guess its still a good night..." She looked up at Alex and said "Can you believe I forgot you coould do...what's wrong? You looked scared?" She tried to sit up then gasped, holding her side. "Bloody...he cursed the blade...dang it..."
