No. Just no. That stopped being possible around the time pre-service medicals became a thing.

Changed it ^.^ Better now?

Not quite. Women weren't, and still aren't, allowed to serve in roles that require them to "close with and engage the enemy".

I don't really mind female characters on the frontline as GM. While I'd rather have a sausagefest, and of course request a male character, I'm not going for "Super pro realism HURR". Pyro can do as he wish in that regard.

I'm not sure of the British army is aa hardline on discipline as its Dutch counterpart

Name: Jonathan Rose

Age: 25

Description: Stands at around 5’4”, with a slim build bulked up slightly by his training. Has reasonably tidy brown hair, although it is normally hidden under his flight helmet or cleaned up for drill so no one seems to notice. He’s generally the quiet one in the Officer’s Mess, but at the same time he’s got a fairly low tolerance for bullshit.

Background: Born and raised in the Home Counties, Jon passed out of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in 1977, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He was posted to the School of Army Aviation at AAC Middle Wallop, gaining his wings 1979. From there, he served tours of duty in Northern Ireland between February and June 1980, and in the Falkland Islands between June and October 1983.

Unit: 1 Regiment / 651 Squadron, Army Air Corps

Role: Pilot, Lynx Utility Helicopter

Equipment:
1x Sterling Armaments L2A3 Submachine Gun
1x Browning L9A1 handgun

Rank: Captain

Misc.

Lost Cause, can you tell me what the standard weapon for British tank crews was?

Actually, technical question; would a Gazelle or a Lynx be more useful for the RP? Since Lynxes are good for transport or attack, whereas Gazelles are strictly Air Observation Posts.

I found an organization of a British Armour Squadron. This would be the same for a Armoured Cavalry Squadron. The CO is a Major and the XO is a Captain. The Platoon Leaders are Lieutenants. The LAD, I believe is a Logistical and Administrative Detachment which provides support to the Squadron. As an American, this unit is equivalent to a Company (Armor) or Troop (Cavalry). But you'll notice the British uses the term Troop for what the Americans call a Platoon. Maybe someone can use this. I posted the Tactical Recognition Flash at the top of the page to easily identify what unit the tank belongs to. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards had a blue banner with the jagged yellow band as depicted below.

Note: This organization is modern, but may be useful for a 1983 Roleplay.

Well in theory, just replace the Challengers with Chieftans.

Also, I'm pretty sure HCR use CVR(T) exclusively.

Lynxes would be more useful to this RP, seeing as transport and attack allows for more interaction.

Also, what do you say if we start a prologue series of posts already? Before the bombs dropped, introducing yourself at base.

What would the role of a normal infantryman who likes to go about shooting things with his AK be?

OK, guess I have to do a bit of bio juggling then since the AAC didn't take Lynxes to the south Atlantic. The Navy did, but not the Army.

You guys might have missed my question, but I'll repeat it.
Since a navy commando is not allowed, what would the role of a normal foot soldier be? Infantry man? Clone Trooper? Mecha XY75?
