I sure can do that, too, and was also contemplating it. But wouldn't the British send in their best units, if there were to be a war this close to their home?

It takes time for kit to trickle down to the front lines. Keep in mind that we're playing a BAOR unit, which would be expected to stand and fight with whatever kit it had available until they could be reinforced.

As an example, 2RTR didn't get Challengers until 1985 despite being based in Germany for over a year at that point, and some BAOR units still had Chieftans in '89.

Wargame: Airland Battle player here. I must say though. Having people to communicate with in game makes a pretty damn big difference.

OK, I do have one minor problem in that I apparently didn't save the .docx copy of my character sheet, so I'll have to start from scratch.

Well, here I go.

Name: Hikaru Akira
Age: 26 (05-05-1957)
Bio:
Hikaru is a small, just about 1,65cm, athletic Japanese woman with black, but blue-tinted hair, just barely short enough to pass the army regulations.
Her grandparents moved out of Japan to the UK just as Japan was about to declare war and were lucky enough to become British citizens.
As a daughter of two clearly Japanese families Hikaru was also taught the importance of their culture and accordingly raised.
However, it was soon clear that Hikaru didn't plan on being a housewife at all. From her school life on, she was always the terror of the hallways, even bullying bigger, older and considerably stronger boys.
At the time she was about to graduate, a member of the Akira family brought shame upon the family's name. Raised in the culture of the old Empire of Japan, Hikaru saw only one way to restore the lost honour.
So right after graduation she joined the military. Of course, at that time, women weren't allowed into the main force, nevertheless driving tanks. However, when the higher-ups saw that one of their most skilled recruits was actually a Japanese girl, they quickly silenced the gossip and media allowing her to be part of the regular troops. Hikaru quickly rose in ranks and as of early 1983, she was promoted to Corporal and given the command over a Chieftain Mk. 11 and its crew. When the 1st Armoured Division was ordered to be based in the FRG, she had already dubbed her tank "meiyo" (名誉) meaning "honour, prestige".

Unit: 1st Armoured Division, 22nd Armoured Brigade, Queen's Own Hussars
Role: Tank Commander
Equipment: Officially uses a Sterling L2A3 SMG. Inofficially: Her trusty, modified Snider-Enfield Mk III 1870 and a family heirloom katana for close range
Rank: Corporal

Crewmembers:
Hailey Marrow, Gunner, 21
Norman Lampart, Driver, 23
Lloyd Carter, Loader, 22

Name: Gustav von Roth

Age: 32

Description: a medium sized man at 5 foot 11 inches, with broad shoulders and a lean build, but not over-muscled. He has short-cropped light-brown hair and stubble, with steely grey eyes. His complexion, like most Germans, is rather pale. He has no tattoos of any kind, but bears various scars on his hands and arms, cuts which were two deep to heal completely and scars from his childhood years. He has a down-to-business hawk nose and thin lips almost as pale as his skin. He is to be found, wherever he goes, in his khaki trousers and vest. When on duty, he is in uniform like the others.

Background: Born in what was formerly the Prussian region of Germany in 1951, Gustav's parents were the stereotypical, eagle-eyed residents of Prussia. Taking pride in their aristocratic background, they brought Gustav up with tall tales of the many military feats of his ancestors, how even Bismark had once come to them in need of their military might. But life in East Germany - while very different from the ideal his parents spoke about - has proven to be just as worth fighting for as the Germany of his ancestors. Taking in the family tradition, he joined the military as soon as he could and has never looked back. Always liking the life a soldier on the field, he has thus far avoided receiving a commission with great success.

Unit: Military District V, Fifth Army, 8th Motorised Infantry Division, 29th Motorised Infantry Regiment 'Ernst Moritz Arndt'

Role: Panzergrenadier (Mechanised Infantry)

Equipment: AK-74 (30 Round Magazine), Makarov Pistol (12 Round Magazine), RGO Hand Grenades, Combat Knife

Rank: Unteroffizier

Misc: Currently located in Schwerin

Pyrodash888: It all looks god, except for a few things.

-The Unit should be a smaller subdivision. Just pick one :)

-The equipment has to be modern. The gun would be a Browning Hi-Power, and if you insist on a sword make it a Wakizashi, since that's more practical.
-With the rank, you'd command a Squadron A-C.
All good, though!

Kho:

Corporal von Roth looks good, except for the unit, of which I'd like a subdivision. 8th Motorised Infantry Division, 29th Motorised Infantry Regiment 'Ernst Moritz Arndt' would do it for me.

Kampfschwimmer is a navy commando, I'm not fond of that being entered. At least not now.

Your shoulder board is one of the Border Guard. Was that intentional?

Slight technical point: Warriors don't come into service until 1988. And I'm pretty sure that providing one's own sword is frowned upon, even for officers.

Going to call accidental because that's the board that Wikipedia has in its Nationale Volksarmee rank breakdown.

There's two parts to NVA shoulder boards. There's the rank insigna, and the Waffenfarbe, which is the coloured trim that denotes the wearer's branch of service.

Strictly speaking the board should look more like this, since KSK-18 (NVA combat swimmers) was part of the Volksmarine:

PyroDash888 said So she faked ID papers and disguised herself as a boy joined the military.

No. Just no. That stopped being possible around the time pre-service medicals became a thing.

I don't really mind. Our tank has a frying pan, a saxophone, two basses, an electrical guitar, and two amplifiers in the turret bustles.
