Black Crusade: Warhammer 40K Tabletop

So I am going to run a Black Crusade campaign since it seem Tome of Decay is out and is now giving options to run your own crusade against the Imperium and other fun goodies. Looking for people, I will be allowing Astartes and advanced archetypes. If people pick advanced archetypes those with standard archetypes will get an exp boost to compensate.

Awesome. Any ideas anyone have for characters yet?

Also, the rule where your god is chosen by how you pick your advances is being thrown out the window, during character creation pick your god of choice. Of course the gods do not like being used so if you use it just to power game or something bad things happen.

What about atheists? I have toyed with an idea of an atheist that works to the detriment of the Imperium, but they want to get the truth of the Emperor out. (i.e. he isn't happy with religion and never wanted to be a god. He wanted humans to move from superstition and religion altogether)

You would be running around with guys gaining power from dark gods. You can be an atheist all you want in this universe but the gods know you exist and you are hanging out with guys who they are directing. Things are unlikely to go well for you.

i know this is an interest thread, and I am sorry to ask this but a friend and I wanted to get into dark heresy, I was wondering if you knew anything about that?

well we were wondering as for the main thing which is more....Beginner friendly as it were, Because we were thinking of doing a rouge trader or a dark heresy. another thing we saw expansions and thought some were pretty cool looking. is there any worth while ones some two people just starting out would like/enjoy/is not to complex?

Dark heresy is the least forgiving with a lot of expansions
Rogue Trader is a lot more forgiving, has more freedom, but has more to keep track of
Deathwatch is Astartes so it is a whole different ball game.
Only War is interesting, more survivability than Dark heresy but a lot less freedom.
Black Crusade is a mix of all of them.

Atheist doesn't mean denying existence of uber powers, but the character wouldn't see them as gods, just very powerful beings. Insofar as my knowledge of Chaos Gods, that is not a problem for the most part as long as they are recognized.

Hanging out with a bunch of chaos worshippers and not worshipping chaos is kind of an issue though. You will not benefit nearly as much from a lot of things and I cannot exactly give you atheist powers. That is disregarding the simple fact that anytime something bad happens there is a decent chance they just sacrifice you as the most worthy sacrifice to the gods and lack a patron to protect you.

Dude at the very least you are going to have to lip service the chaos gods if you want to travel with a chaos strike team(or whatever we are) in the long term. I am not even sure if that would be considered enough.
