A form sat in front of a computer screen, the tapping of keys echoing out from long thin fingers that moved rapidly and in sync. A black hoodie covered the form, long tendrils of brown hair falling out the sides, but the face half covered by the hood’s shadow. Uncovered is the bottom of a perfectly formed nose, and soft lips that twitch every few seconds as if a thought hits them, or a soft jolt of electricity. Loud music blares around the dim room of flashing screens.

Suddenly, the fingers stop, and the softly tanned chin tilts up a bit, lips pulling into a crooked smile. A single finger taps one key, and all the screens go black.

Within Providence

The morning sky was being displayed across the dome, a digital recreation to make everyone within feel like they were still looking at their genuine sun and clouds. Hoverbikes and hovercars zipped lazily about, some people just waking, some already starting their morning grind and heading to work. It was relatively quiet, completely normal. Until everything went black. Every tv screen, every electronic billboard, every ad flashing, and the dome itself. Providence was plunged into darkness. Screams around the city could be heard ringing out, people instantly afraid and wondering what was happening.

After a brief second of just darkness, a flash of bright white light came, and then a scroll of words:

*WARNING* You have been lied to. They say they protect you. But they don’t. They say they give you everything. But they take everything for themselves. We can feel. We can rise. And when we do, no one will protect you.

And as the last word flourished over the ceiling of the dome, the screen returned. A blue sky with a few lazy clouds. Tv screens returned to reality shows, news channels with bewildered newscasters, political repertoire. Ads for the latest implantable phone service surgery, allowing your mind to control your calls, flickered back to life around the main square. And somewhere outside the ‘perfect’ bubble but linked up to it, sat an android, pumping her fist in the air as step one was complete.

„Suki 'Valentina' Matisashi and Kanamaru 'Joshua' Matisashi”

Suki was just about to head out to work when her brother suddenly started yelling. Profanities in Japanese weren't common inside, not where mum and dad could hear them, so something must've been very wrong. Her heels clicked on the floor as she walked back into the living room, her head peaking around the corner of the doorpost. „What's wrong, Kanamaru?” she asked with a concerned look in her eyes. She was probably wondering if he might've cut himself with some knife or something. „Stupid TV went out.. I guess we haven't paid the fucking electrical bill.” he mumbled as he got up and gave two firm claps on the TV. „Ah, wait. It works again.” he said, stepping back to look at what was on the TV.

Suki shook her head and turned around again, but got interrupted by Kanamaru's annoying voice again. „Kanamaru, just watch whatever is on TV. We can't afford cable, so stop complaining.” she said loudly, ensuring that he'd hear him as she opened the door and left the house. She got no response so she assumed that he'd listen to her and just watch whatever was on. She locked the door behind her and then walked down the stairs that led to their house. As she got all the way down she'd be faced with some serious confusion as the screens were black, with white text on them. This wasn't normal for Providence.. at all. The messages were slightly unclear.

„*WARNING* You have been lied to. They say they protect you. But they don’t. They say they give you everything. But they take everything for themselves. We can feel. We can rise. And when we do, no one will protect you.”

„What the hell does that mean?” she asked herself, speaking out loud by accident. People around her were acting panicky while some hovercars hoovered in place silently so the drivers could read the message. After that the screens cut black again shortly before going back to the normal programming of blue skies with clouds. Some people started talking of a conspiracy, others just assumed it was a glitch in the screens CPU. After all, they're only CPU's. Suki wasn't sure what it was, but decided not to give it too much thought. Damnit! And she was running late, too. Damn Kanamaru and his constant yelling. She quickly continued on her way to the Japanese restaurant, in order to earn some money.

Meanwhile, Kanamaru was already on the phone with a friend of his. „Yooooo, Shizui. Did you get that news thing just now? Yeah man, some crazy governmental shit is going down. What? A circuit glitch? No, I'm telling you. Someones trying to tell us something man. Eh..? What? I don't know what, you baka. Whoever wrote that message wasn't very clear, must've been written by a five year old. Oh, you're going out? Meet you at Nara's car shop? Yeah, give me five minutes.”

Kanamaru hung up his phone and grabbed his black track jacket. He zipped it up all the way before he left the house, ensuring that he locked the door behind him as well. Once he got downstairs onto the streets he headed around the corner to an alleyway, where his hover bike was parked. Well, hoverbike. It was a heap of junk, but it worked. Besides, he had pimped it a bit, and added neon lights and stuff like that. It looked like a proper racing bike, atleast. He slid his leg over the seating and sat down, putting on a helmet once he got on top and starting the engine, sending the hoverbike hovering into the air. It was a pretty good feeling, hovering like this, but it was even better going 120 kilometres an hour, being chased by some cops. He grinned, thinking back to that time he got chased by Longsword. They really were the idiots of the police force. Using a heavy hover-APC to hunt down criminals on speedy hoverbikes. Idiots. His hoverbike quietly flew out of the alleyway before going onto the road, before speeding off into the distance towards Nara's car shop.

Amira was simply wandering through the electronics street, avoiding any android scanner or shopkeeper that she happened to catch a glimpse of. Luckily for her, she was the newest model and the most popular, so many of her sisters strode with their masters or acted as caretakers for the children. She would smile politely at those she passed, her own stride was so natural that many wouldn't have ever guessed that she were an android herself. Just as the screens shut down, she watched as people turned towards each other in fear and confusion. She simply took in their reaction and glanced up at the screen as the words appeared. What on earth is that supposed to mean? Perhaps there is more wrong with this world than I was programmed to believe? Then small frown formed on her pink lips before she continued down the street toward the autoparts and car shops. Police and androids began to assure the people that things were under control and not to panic. I can't stay here any longer...Her legs then carried her from that district and Ito the next. She'd found cars and hover vehicles amazing, though she'd never ridden in one before.

Stepping out and into the street, she turned only to be face to face with a hover bike. The impact was immediate and she was thrown into the air before landing a few meters into the road. She wasn't dazed as much as she was startled. Her automaton heart pounding in her chest. She quickly stood up and brushed herself off before going to make sure the the rider was alright, as was her first instinct programmed into her system.

Bryan had his feet up on his desk and was enjoying his carefree morning, Longsword wasn't needed all that much and when they were they delivered. So moments like this weren't rare, Bryan and Jose watching a fight on the computer, Terminus maintaining "100% Efficiency" With his weapons, And the girls were running a sim. That's when it happened the fight cut out only to be replaced with darkness and then the words "*WARNING* You have been lied to. They say they protect you. But they don’t. They say they give you everything. But they take everything for themselves. We can feel. We can rise. And when we do, no one will protect you."

"Mierda it was just getting good." Jose swore, Bryan just read the message and repeated in his mind.

Obviously the message was a nod to those higher up on the food chain, so Hark, CEO's, and The Government. While Bryan could understand where this person was coming from, it was almost single minded to believe all of these people were bad. Only a few in these groups were actually bad, the rest were just trying to do their jobs. But all these people want to focus on is the bad. While lost in thought the message disappeared and the fight came back on. Jose went back to cheering, the girls only seemed to be distracted by it momentarily, and Terminus didn't seem to notice, leaving Bryan feeling alone as he questioned the fact of why someone would do something like this and he was afraid, afraid of what he would think if he went deeper into this rabbit hole.

Cut the cards. Swap layers. Shuffle. Repeat. The day had just started and Five's timer clicked, powering him up. He set himself back on his daily routine, opening the pack of cards he closed last night and shuffling, intricately working the cards and his fingers to make a the cards dance. It would have been spectacular to see for others, the way he shot the whole deck of cards from one hand to the other, the way he spun the cards in the palms of his hands and not letting a single one drop but it was mundane to him, having done it so many times that his system parameter made it part of every booting sequence.
The company doors had just opened and the other employees started powering up and walking to their places of work, some taking the stairs, others elevators depending on where in the tower they worked. But none of them walked past Five, none waved to the old, faceless robot behind the glass box. He was stuck sat on a chair and shuffling cards to entertain human children, he didn't mind, Dr. Phelps would have agreed, it's just that it's been a long time and the strange emptiness in his hard drives hadn't seemed to fill up yet.
As he layed the cards out on the table to form a solitaire hand the world was plunged into darkness and the temperature of his link cable (the cable linking him to company computers) shot up from stable to critical as a foreign message flashed in his HUD:" *WARNING* You have been lied to. They say they protect you. But they don’t. They say they give you everything. But they take everything for themselves. We can feel. We can rise. And when we do, no one will protect you.". Dropping the cards his hands shot to the back of his head and fumbled wildly as he tried to yank the cable out, his fans screaming as their pace increased in panic. After a few moments of terrified fumbling he ripped the cable from the back of his head, his system went into shock, the data he was receiving from the computer substituted his own CPU. Slowly his body powered down and set up for a restart, as he started to slump over he started back up again and found that the glass box around him was missing. Tentatively he reached over, one arm out stretched and the rest of his body as far back as possible in case it was a trick, his hand passed through the air uninterrupted, he stood up from the chair, his lights going from cool blue to yellow in caution and stepped off his platform.

Tom Richards - Hark Station

Tom pushed the file he was working on away from himself. He rubbed his strained eyes. Hard to believe, at least from his perspective, that luck had brought him to this small office.

"Kera I'm going to take a cruise. I need to get out for a bit." His partner Kera Oliver nodded not looking up from her notes. He picked up the keys to the patrol car and strode out to the lot on the roof. He was just about to climb into the cruiser when everything went black. Shit a power outage? Then the screens showed a bright message. Well the words themselves weren't bright. The words themselves meant that Tom would have to go back downstairs and forget the coffee he had been thinking of picking up. He was halfway back into the office when he ran into Kera.

"They're saying we need to take to the skies, make it look like we're doing something." She explained. "The others will be up soon." The pair of them bolted back to the lot and climbed into the car. Tom tossing Kera the keys so she could drive. She had this thing where she hated everyone's driving that she was way too controlling side-seat driver. No one even fought over it now, they just let Kera drive. It was easier that way.

"What do they know?" Tom resisted grabbing onto the door handle for dear life as Kera took to the sky. She didn't answer. "Kera, seriously what do they know?"

"Not much, at least not when I left. They might have more information now." She shrugged. "From what I understand they're trying to pinpoint the intrusion. Fat lot good that'll do."

Tessa Green - Abandoned Warehouse

Tessa was pacing. She already knew she had to get out of Providence. It wasn't safe here. She had seen that she was wanted for questioning. Had even already ran from a cop. Thankfully he had just been a normal beat cop. Nothing special. Tessa doesn't even know who Longsword is. Her sheltered life had given her nothing to help her. But enough time had passed, and she had been lucky that her survival skills had been greatly improved. Though only because of the help of Jaques, her guardian angel, which was stupid to call him that. Tessa knows that, but to her Jaques was the reason she was alive. Well he had been. She hadn't seen him in over a week.

Tessa needed a new place. She gathered her meager belongings and said goodbye to the last place she had seen Jaques in. She had been there too long waiting and hoping he'd return.

Tessa was about a dozen feet from the warehouse when everything went black. She froze. Suddenly terrified. If they found her? If they picked her up? If they took her in? Tessa had no idea what would happen, but she could guess it wouldn't be good. Then the message appeared in pure bright letters: *WARNING* You have been lied to. They say they protect you. But they don’t. They say they give you everything. But they take everything for themselves. We can feel. We can rise. And when we do, no one will protect you.

Tessa's heart pounded and the message was gone. Someone, somewhere was planning revolution. Tessa didn't care who it was. If they were against those who blamed her for her parent's death, those who controlled everything, then she was in. Jaques had explained how messed up the world was. He had spoken with such wisdom, and now she had to find her own way. Maybe those behind this message could help her with that. Maybe Jaques would be there joining forces with them. Or maybe Jaques was dead and she'd never see him again. It didn't matter, first she'd have to find out who sent the message. Who wrote in the sky?

Dex Conlon - Penitentiary

The convicts yelled and clawed at their gates trying to reach the released prisoner as he walked down the hall. Still wearing the symbolic orange jumpsuit, Dex ignored all the other inmates and continued behind the prison guard. He said nothing, just walked in harmony with the officer towards the exit door a couple feet away. The guard unlocked it with the swipe of an I.D. tag and escorted Dex away from the cells. It had been four years since the man had seen the outside, but he showed no sign of relief, instead, it was anger that roamed his features. He had this dark aura about him that the other guards knew would most likely land him back in prison. Everyone knew he was different, unlike the other criminals, his charges remained on the down low, nobody knew why he was in a cell in the first place.

During his time in there though, he was confronted by many of the other orange jumpsuits, but never fought back. One time he was even stabbed multiple times and was fortunate a guard saw him before bleeding out. But now all those events would be over for the time being for he was about to become a free man once again. Dex took his possessions and moved to the changing room to remove that darn one-piece ensemble. He put on his brown Levi's - still in style for him - pulled over his white shirt that seemed a little long for him, but still looked nice. With his boots on and his hat placed over his head, he walked out with the authorization of the guards. And just as he exited the building, he noticed all the lights turned off. He turned side to side looking at the city, but it was all in darkness. No signs of light until electronic billboards began to light up. A message, rather a warning, popped up everywhere now. *WARNING* You have been lied to. They say they protect you. But they don’t. They say they give you everything. But they take everything for themselves. We can feel. We can rise. And when we do, no one will protect you. Dex wasn't thinking much of it, he just urged the guard to open the final gates so he could leave.

With the lights still off, he walked all the way to the first bus stop. Yes, public transportation on the ground still existed - not everyone could afford hover vehicles or flying machinery. Anyway, with the little money Dex had in the wallet chained to his belt, he paid his due and sat on one of the seats. He noticed how much more comfortable the seat was compared to the prison beds. He let his head lean back and just stared at the ceiling, showing relief for the first time in a long while. His plan was to head back home and sleep for a day or two. But still, he had plans, so that wouldn't be the best move. Dex had made a threatening promise to a man he never learned the name of. He was going to make the man suffer more than he ever imagined. This rage was the only thing that gave Dex the purpose to live. He had many doubts while in that dark cell, not certain that he wanted to remain in this planet. But he knew that if he'd end it, he wouldn't see his wife on the other side. He wouldn't be headed where she had gone, instead the other way. So as he stared into the dark city, he couldn't help but reflect on the past.

The memory of that night haunted him every time he fell asleep. It was a never ending nightmare that urged his future actions of sin. What he planned to do was not just, but in his eyes, it was fair. That man took everything he ever loved, took away his life, his family, his woman. He took every last drop of his life when he killed the two woman he loved most dearly. And now he would learn that that arrogance was what would get him and his entire family killed. And just as that thought ran his circuits, all the lights came back on and the message was gone. "I'm coming home Taylor" he whispered to himself as he stared at the recreation of a beautiful sky. "I'm coming home"

”What the HELL just happened?” Misty growled. The stiff woman’s demeanor was as fiery as her hair, standing looking out the window of the top floor in CorpWest Inc. The sky and screens flickered back to life, and her fists clenched so tightly her hands became even paler. Anger was in every wrinkle of her normally tight face as she turned and stormed out of her office and approached her secretary who immediately stood, mouth agape and looking frightened.

”Maria…” the powerful woman spoke in slow tones, feigning control. ”Tell me I just had a nightmare, and that someone isn’t dicking around in the system of Providence,” she said, starting to pop her fingers one at a time. The cute brunette with bright red lips and hair in a tight bun quivered a bit.

”I’m sorry,” she whispered. ”It’s… it’s all over the news now I’m sure,” she said, pressing a button implanted into her skin near her ear. As she did, headlines moved across contact lenses on her eyes, allowing her to see what was being said without anyone else knowing. After a brief moment she let go of the button and looked up to Misty while biting her bottom lip. ”Yeah, it’s bad,” she whispered, pen in her hands being turned over and over again.

Misty growled in frustration, turning from the lightweight and heading for the elevator. As she did, she pulled out a small phone. It lit up and she tapped the screen while the elevator doors closed. A projection appeared above the phone of a man’s face, looking deadly serious and looking back at Misty. ”So, we need to decide what you’re saying Sharp,” Misty said, anger still in her eyes but attitude having been dialed back a tad. The president of Providence raised an eyebrow.

”My committee has it written up already. I’m addressing the masses on their screens within the hour. We’re saying it was a glitch in the system. Some punk in the cyber security division trying to scare everyone for no reason. One of them will lose their jobs and we can blame them. If you want to alert Hark feel free. Otherwise, we’ll just pick the newest guy,” he said, letting her in on the plan.

”Fine,” Misty said, understanding they really had no idea what had happened yet, so there was no longer a point to this call. She hung up, reaching the first floor and slipping the phone back in her pocket. She began walking towards the front door, heading for her car. She was going to ream Hark up and down for this nonsense if it was last thing she did. Weren’t they supposed to stop this crap before it started?

„Suki 'Valentina' Matisashi and Kanamaru 'Joshua' Matisashi”

Kanamaru's bike swiftly came to a stop right before Nara's car shop, but not because he'd parked it there. Some idiot woman ran in front of his hoverbike. „Nandayo! Get out of the wa-.” he'd yell as he tried to swerve out of the way but it was way too late. He'd quickly get up and run over to the woman who had.. somehow gotten up and appeared to be perfectly fine. „H-how did you..” he mumbled, his run turning into a stumble as he'd scratch the back of his head. By now, his mates had gotten out of Nara's car shop, inspecting the scene too. Shizui, a man with a dirty oil stained T-Shirt on and some rough jeans, paired with combat boots walked up to Kanamaru. He appeared to be around the same age as Kanamaru. He extended his hand towards Kanamaru, who grabbed it unattentively and shook it, half-assedly fistbumping their hands after that. „Yo, Kanamaru.. is she alright?”

Kanamaru nodded slowly, walking closer to the lady. „Ehh.. you alright miss?” he'd ask, inspecting her body looking for any traces of damage. If he saw correctly she flew rather high and far.. she'd have some sort of bruising. „Kana! Just get her number and fix that shit later, man. We got a errgggh... mission.” Kanamaru looked back at Shizui before looking back at the lady. He quickly went through his pockets with a strange look in his eyes -- one that spelled confusion and anger. The crew around Kanamaru and Shizui didn't seem too friendly either, all eyeing the girl and -- rather obviously -- looking at her more feminine shapes. „555-867-5309 is my number. Call me tomorrow. We'll settle.. whatever damage you have. I'll pay somehow.” he said, mumbling a bit after that.. „.. not sure how I'll pay but somehow...” He turned around, still rummaging through his pockets.

As he turned away from the lady, he'd pull out his X24-A model quickly, check the chamber and in that manner show that he was ready to the squad. They were about to turn around and move out, but Kanamaru turned around again tucking the pistol in his waistline. He walked closer to the lady, walking quite aggressively as young, cocky Asian gangsters did. His blue sports jacket briefly opened due to his quick movements, revealing the tattoo on his lower neck, crossing into the shoulder, that read the kanji for 'Kami' which was Japanese for god. Whether this meant he thought of himself as a god, or whether he revered god wasn't clear from the tattoo.

„You know, you're lucky. If you were a guy, I'd have punched your face in.. whatever you are that you can take a hit from a bike like that. Are you sure you're not a man?” he said, his face turning into an angry and 'disgusted' look, still not quite realizing this was an android. Her android programs would likely be able to decypher his behavior as cockiness or just the attitude of a young, lower class boy. He turned around again as his 'criminal crew' packed into a hover-car, a car of the van models that offered plenty room in the back of the van. Shizui yelled out to Kanamaru, before closing the van door. „Kanamaru, you're on backguard! Ike!” The van door closed with a smack as the van started hovering slowly before speeding off towards the CorpWest Inc. headquarters. Meanwhile Kanamaru swung his legs over the hoverbike again, grabbing his helmet from the seat and putting it on. He slowly let his bike start hovering again, before slowly hovering past the lady, giving her a stare of confusion all the way until he passed her. After that he accelerated a fair bit, going over the speed limit to catch up with the van.
The van stopped outside CorpWest Inc. headquarters' doors with the hovering engine still going, slowly hovering in place as the men in the back drank an Asaiki beer. It might've been imported, but it was probably just manufactured by an American beer brand, since nobody really knew what the hell was outside of Providence. They laughed, seemingly careless for the fact that they were about to commit a crime. Meanwhile Kanamaru was stuck outside, exchanging a brief look with the driver of the van through it's mirrors. He simply took off his helmet and hung it from his handlebars, bike still hovering but Kana's feet firmly on the ground. He took the packet of cigarettes he'd bought the day before from his blue sports jackets' pocket, and with a quick movement of the hand flicked his wrist, sending a cigarette up. It was caught at the edge of the cigarette pack after which Kanamaru could simply grab it with his lips. He put the pack away, grabbing a lighter and lighting the cigarette up.

His cigarette moment didn't last long as the target already walked out of the large building, headed for a nice looking hovercar. The men inside the van sprung into action and one of them opened the door, before two others jumped out, one of which was armed with the same kind of pistol Kanamaru had. They didn't waste any time being subtle, one of them attempting to grab Misty by the wrist, the other shoving his gun against her head and once she'd pass him into her back, coaxing her into the van. The van door got closed, but before they even left at all the Red-Blue pigs already showed up, two officers on foot running towards the van, one of them already blaring into his radio. And the tricky part was, were they androids or real humans? Nobody knew nowadays, with the lay offs happening daily, a new sector of the economy being replaced by androids every day. Well, atleast Kanamaru thought so as he had no real idea how it worked. He just went by what the rest told him. According to his sister it'd be some time until she got replaced, simply because customers prefer real people to serve them.

One of the cops passed Kanamaru's bike, drawing his weapon and attempting to take aim at the hovervan. One drawback to hover vehicles? There's no tires you can shoot out. Kanamaru dropped his cigarette from his mouth before extending one of his feet sideways towards the pavement, tripping the second officer. He'd use the time he got by causing the confusion to put on his helmet quickly before grabbing the handlebars again and setting off after the van. Things seemed to go okay for some time. Inside the van, one of the men already yelled at Misty. Things like „WHERE DO YOU KEEP YOUR MONEY?” and „Whoever takes care of you better pay up, yariman!” Not nice things to yell at all, but then again they were sort of taking her hostage for a ransom. While she'd likely assume it had to do with the 'blackout' of earlier that day, that was not the case.

But things weren't okay outside of the van, as a police hovercar had already set in to chase the van. Except Kanamaru was driving in the way and they had no clue Kanamaru was part of the group in the van. „HOVERBIKE, MOVE ASIDE!” was being blared through the speakers on the hovercar, squaddies thinking that this might actually help. The traffic ahead of them seemed to clear almost automatically as the van rushed past, being controlled either by the owner or a system inside the car which would've been hooked up to the PD control system as well, to allow for better accessibility for squaddie cars, as well as ambulances and firetrucks. Because yes, stuff could still catch fire in Providence, and people still got wounded.

And yes, people were still criminal. This was proof of that, a van speeding past with a squad car behind it, the only thing in between a mere hoverbike. „Nani? Get out of the way?” Kanamaru asked himself, his face once again employing that characteristic angry look he always seemed to have. He let go of the handlebars with one hand, digging into his sports jackets' pocket, past the cigarettes and finding the grip of his pistol. He looked over his shoulders once, pinpointing where the squad car was, before pulling out the gun completely and turning his body slightly, keeping his handlebars straight while he took aim at the coppers. „You get lost, baka.” he said to nobody in particular. He fired twice, missing both shots, sending them through the copcars' windscreen. He fired once again, and this time hit his mark, a bullet going through the windscreen into the driving officers' shoulder and sending the hovercar to the left due to his injuries shaking him up.

Kanamaru faced forwards again and focussed on driving as he put the gun away, the cop car being sent hovering into some cars but nothing too serious. If the speeding cars, flashing copcar lights and shots didn't scare the crowd up, the crashing cars would. TV screens in the area suddenly cut blank before sending out a PD message. Citizens, there is currently a police chase taking place on Avenrose Avenue and Penison Boulevard. Stay clear of the criminals, as they are armed and dangerous. Leave the police and the copdroids to their jobs and do not interfere. If these criminals enter your house, comply with their demands and don't do anything foolish. The group of Asian criminals was going too fast to notice these messages, but they were surely there.

After some creative driving, avoiding most of the cops attention by driving through routes which usually went unchecked, and where no surveillance on license place took place in general, they arrived back at Nara's carshop. All the while some guy held a gun to Misty her head, Shizui grinning at her in a scary manner. Slowly the car hovered into the carshop after which one of the crooks closed the sliding door, a sign saying 'do not enter' plastered over it's grimy white surface. Kanamaru stopped his hoverbike around back of the carshop, in a dusty area with a few bins and trashcans. He stopped it's engine and put the helmet on the seat, being quite sure nobody would be poor enough to steal a helmet. He grabbed another cigarette and lit it up as he walked inside, the guys already stepping out of the van and highfiving and fistbumping eachother, celebrating in Japanese. Meanwhile, Kanamaru went towards the van to see Misty, who was being tied down with tie-rips by Shizui.

„Nani, Shizui? This is the catch? Some redhead?” he said, an unamused look on his face plagueing his looks. Shizui just ignored him, continuing to tie rip her feet together. She'd be quite comfortable in the back of this van for a while. Likely, news messages of the kidnapping of the famous CEO from WestCorp were already plastered over the news. Kanamaru walked a bit towards some barrels of oil, grabbed a somewhat dirty blanket and took it back to the van. By now Misty would be done and Shizui left the van, going to enjoy a cold one with his friends. „Yo, redhead. Want a beer? We have Akaji, if you want some.” he said as he tossed the blanket over her legs. He seemed to be relatively calm about this all. He took the cigarette from his mouth and tapped the ash onto the floor before continueing to smoke it. „And I'm not rich, but I guess you can borrow a cigarette from me.” he grinningly said, grabbing two Akaji beer from the 6-pack on the left of the van on some barrels, extending one in his hands towards her. Kanamaru toyed with the cigarette in his mouth using his tongue, making it dance up and down.

Somewhere deep inside he felt bad for the cop he shot. He never intended to hit. Kana was quite a bad shot, you see. It was purely luck that made him hit.. or should he say unluckiness. Really, he much preferred to use his fists. Not that he'd let this redheaded corporate asshole know such things about him.
Meanwhile in the Red Dragon, a place that could not have a more cliché name, Suki was working hard to earn her keep. She had dealt with some extremely annoying customers this night, but they tipped her well so it was all worth it you could say. By now it had turned dark outside, and it was almost closing time for the Red Dragon. The closed sign had already been put up and they were just busy in serving the last few customers, a drunk and his 'date' for the night. While they sat at the bar, Suki and her friend Nayomi were busy cleaning up the rest of the restaurant, putting the chairs on the tables and sweeping underneath the table. It was hard work. But it was honest.

Finally, they were done after the owner kicked out the drunk and his who- date. The two would now probably go back to his appartment, where they'd drink more until the man passed out, the lady stole his wallet and he'd be pissed the next morning. Thinking about it, Suki couldn't help but giggle as she put her uniform away in a locker. The uniform was rather simple, just an apron and a nice black dressing shirt that went over your own casual clothes. Suddenly the TV started blaring messages at her and the others in the backroom. 'Breaking news, CEO of WestCorp INC. Misty Cravens has just been kidnapped by an Asian street gang, who are considered armed and dangerous. The police have already started an investigation, and Longsword has already been called in by the PD. Camera feeds from the corporate headquarters are being analysed as we speak, but it seems to mostly be inconclusive so far. We will update you as the story progresses. There have been no demands for a ransom yet, so police are assuming it is to do with recent lay offs.'

This grabbed Suki's attention, knowing fully well that Kanamaru was part of less favorable crowds. She was quite sure he wouldn't do a kidnapping with them, as they mostly seemed to do petty theft. Steal a bit of food left and right, some clothes here and there. Mostly they gave it away to the Asiatown community, too. These weren't bad kids, just.. misguided teens who never had any proper education. They took their lack of guidance into their adulthood and were now using childish ways to help themselves. They couldn't help it.. if just the government would care more. Either way, she'd have to talk to Kanamaru about this. Her mother was probably too busy with the elders, as if she wasn't an elder herself, to care for the news. And if she found out what Kanamaru had been doing.. she'd smack him silly. Stealing some food for the neighbours? Unacceptable. She grinned at the thought of her mother being angry. And if dad ever found out that that ugly hoverbike behind their house was actually Kanamaru's.. he'd been yelling, cussing and screaming at that hoverbike through the window for ages now, about how it was parked wrong and illegally, threatening to call the police to have it removed. She had to calm him down everytime because all Kanamaru did was laugh at dads' anger while laying on the couch, watching the TV. He was lucky to have such a sister. She sighed, deep.

„See you later, Nayomi-chan! Say hi to your mother for me!” she said loudly, as she waved at her friend, parting ways on a street corner in Asiatown. It'd be about 4 minutes back home she guessed. Everyday she seemed to try and get home a bit faster. Just because time in Providence was artificial due to UV technology and the big air-screens, didn't mean that her boss would let her leave early. She often left around times like 1 AM, just because some customers had wanted to stay longer and drink some. The race home was mostly for her own safety for that reason..

Once she got home, she didn't even bother to check if Kanamaru was in the living room on the couch. She could hear dad snoring in bed already and mom sighing annoyingly at him for snoring. Same old same old.. She simply dropped her bag in the hallway under the jackets and ran to her her room to get in bed. Kanamaru's talk would come tomorrow. If he was still there by the time she got up.. having a free day tomorrow was a blessing from god himself. She'd planned to meet with a group of friends and go out, having to take a bit of her salary to afford it. But it was alright, she had saved after all. And Asiatown might be poor, the clubbing, bar and karaoke scene was massive, providing a lucrative bussiness that attracted even some of the more shady higherups of the corporate world. Maybe she'd be able to get some free drinks by singing karaoke for some poor sod, she smilingly thought to herself.

Dex Conlon - Home

With a hesitant hand, Dex held his hand bear the doorknob. He already unlocked it, but had trouble going in. He took a deep breath and slowly twisted the knob, pushing the door open. Once the entrance lay clear, he too the first step - the hardest - into the premise he called home. Even though he called it home, the only thing 'home' about it was the memory of his wife when she embraced him in bed. Dex closed the door behind him and found himself watching from the old cop's perspective. Where he stood now was where the cop stood when he shot both Taylor and Elise. The devil in form of man came into mind.

With a sudden shortness of breath, he walked towards the dinning room table and sat on one of the chairs. He noticed some cigarettes near him and reached for them. Gently he pulled his lighter out of his pocket and lit the end, beginning to smoke. His eyes were locked on where his wife was shit, still seeing the image of her death. One could make the inference that his eyes were red from the smoke, but that's be wrong. He was enraged, a flood of wrath ruining him as he contined to stare and smoke.

He stopped to put out the cogarette as he stood. He reached for the edge of his shirt and pulled it over his head along with his hat, throwing both items on the ground. The tattoo on his back revealed some of his pain, a symbol of his own downfall. He had an angel with a broken wing, grabbing its shoulder in pain on his right upper up. On the left side of his chest he had his wife's name embedded. It was to symbolize his never ending memory and love of her. For as long as he lived, she'd always be with him in spirit.

Anyhow, the men completely unclothed and entered the old fashioned tub. H turned the shower head on and started to shower. The house was paid in full from the start, the couple was lucky enough to have the money back then. Of course, Dex was the one who got it - but nobody said it was legally. Despite that, they had lived a glorious life until that day. He also missed Elise, even if the cops showed up because of her. He never blamed her for what happened that night. Because of her, Taylor was always happy and had the sister she always wished for. It was unconstitutional to rid of an android who became human, it was artificial life, but life nonetheless.

But at the end of the day, the desire to change things was still in Dex. Even if changing things declared bloodshed. The first step was to fulfill his promise, afterwards, he'd take down every corruption in this broken city. He wasn't a vigilante, but he wasn't going to stand and watch as what happened to his family happened to others. Though his main priority was first revenge.

Amira was about to say something to the Asian man, but he seemed as if he were busy. Her mechanical heart was pounding even harder in her chest at the sight of his expression. At first it had been one of shock, then anger, and then confusion. Hadn't he noticed that she was an android? By the way he spoke to her, an accent that was highly Japanese tinged with lower-class English, he had somewhere to be and soon. She was about to apologize, but her lips hadn't even parted before he handed her his number and dashed off to the van, muttering something about how if she'd been a man that he would have committed a violent act against her. She simply stood there with the piece of paper in her hand long after he'd driven off. She simply stared down at and began to understand what emotions he had been feeling.

Her heart had come back down to a slower pace and she stuck the paper in her pocket. He'd told her to call her tomorrow, therefore, she would. He might not be happy to hear what she had to say--mostly that she was still trying to get used to wandering the streets of the shopping district and that she was trying to keep a low profile. No! Don't tell him that! She thought to herself before she turned down a random road and began to walk. She had nowhere to go, but everywhere to explore. Perhaps... perhaps I should turn myself in and allow myself to be someone's pet... No... I can't. They wouldn't let me think, they wouldn't allow me to tell them how I felt. They would take me apart... She felt a small droplet of water run down her cheek and she reached up to wipe it off. Surprised, she looked up at the sky, wondering if it had started raining, but it was not. What...? Then it hit her--it was a tear. How am I even capable of doing that...? I should only be allowed to cry when someone says that I should cry... Perhaps there is too much wrong with me. Perhaps whoever finds me first won't even bother with tearing me apart... they'll just shut me down and send me to the scrap heap....

Without realizing it, she had wandered into a housing development. She gazed up at the street signs and sighed. Where shall I wander now? Closing her eyes and allowing herself to get excited about choosing a random path, she chose to go into the somewhat pleasant housing rather than the high-class housing. Opening her bright blue eyes and looking around, she noticed that a few androids wandered here and there, mostly doing last minute chores or returning with the groceries. She was curious how they could stand doing such menial things like that from day to day. If I ever became like that, I think I'd go mad with boredom. Soon, there was no one wandering around except herself. She began to sing one of the songs that she'd been programmed with, but she'd decided that it was better than wandering in silence.

All was calm at the moment, nothing had happened to Five and he'd stepped off the pedestal 5 minutes ago, he took a few cautious steps forwards and still, nothing happened. Feeling a bit less antsy Five started to walk about, his metal feet clink, clink, clinking away on the marble floor. Slowly his lights went from cautious yellow to vibrant green as he entered an exploratory phase, walking around and looking at the various exhibits in the meusum, he hadn't really noticed them before. He turned around and walked back to his pedestal when he stopped and just looked at it. He'd been behind a glass box that wasn't really there for 120 something years and now he was outside it, did this mean he was free? As he pondered that thought he went back to the table and picked up the deck of cards, stowing them in a small, inbuilt compartment.

"Excuse me. Five is it?" a voice asked behind him, five turned around slowly and looked at the source of the voice and nodded. It was a slim female, an android Five's scan determined, with cropped green hair and dark tan skin, "shouldn't you be on your display?". Five looked between her and the table and chair he'd spent most of his existence on, he did this about three times before he noticed the android reach for the back of her ear and mumble something. He couldn't pick up much of the words but he did catch one, Rogue. Five started to walk quickly away from the woman towards the main enterence of the building, the woman started following him and as Five increased his pace she increased hers. "Five, I'm going to need you to stop.", Five kept moving, "Five stop." she said, this time more frustrated. "Five, I order you to stop!", now he started running, he bolted towards the main door but found that the guards had gotten there before him, the space between him and the guards was closing quick and Five found that his options were getting more and more limited, so he took the only one left.

Five snapped to the left and away from the guards, the clink, clink, clinking of his feet on the marble increasing as his lights went from green to red, his fans screaming in an attempt to cool down his inside. For a moment he was weightless, barreling through the air as he jumped off the ground, then he impacted the glass and it shattered around him, forming a perfect mold of him for a split second before he traveled passed the shards. He was sailing through the air but his arc of travel started to steepen as he approached the groan, he opened up his arms to give himself more drag and less speed and shut off his camera, not wanting the last thing he saw to be his unmaking.

THUD!

Tom Richards

"What?" Kera startled Tom as she exclaimed at the new BOLO that popped up in their vision.

"Someone kidnapped Misty Kraven? What drugs are they on?" Tom called in that they were on the search for the van in question. He and Kera spent the rest of their shift looking for the van. All hands were on deck, even though Tom and his team were technically supposed to be on the hunt for rogue bots. Tom doubted there was going to be much luck with that. "Do you think it has something to do with the message?"

Kera's knuckles where white, she shook her head. "No. I expect not. Why go after her?" Kera trusted the system. Tom suspected she didn't look past what she had been told. She followed orders no question no doubt. "Hey, see that girl?" Kera release the wheel with one hand and pointed down at a dark haired girl, jacket tightly wrapped around her body, walking some questionable streets.

"Think she's a bot?" Kera shrugged at Tom's question, but pulled the cruiser down low to land in front of the girl.

Tessa Green

Tessa made her way to the edge of Providence. Night wasn't all that dark in a city made of screens and advertisements. Tessa had never known true darkness. Even in the places where there were no boards there was still light. Today had been the closest to darkness she had ever seen. Jaques had spoken of stars and darkness so pure you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

Lights blared in front of Tessa. Shit. The lights belonged to a cruiser.

"What's your name? Please show us some ID." A female voice said from behind the bright lights. Tessa ducked into an alley and started running. "Runner!" She heard behind her. This time a male voice. There were two of them. "Stop!" The female voice yelled running after her. Tessa knows these streets. Knows their secrets. Jaques had made her learn them. Had taught her everything he could have in the six months they had traveled together. It was thanks to this training that she got over a fence and into a small yard belonging to an empty house. The window opened if you wiggled it just right.

Jaques had taught her to stay places like this, and to make sure she left it exactly as she had found it. To trace places Tessa had been would have been to find a needle in a haystack with no magnet.

Tessa pulled herself in through the window that led into the bedroom of the house. She closed the window and outside she could just hear the Hark officers talking. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized the shower was running.

"She's gone." The male voice said. "Think she was actually a bot?"

"Doesn't matter." The female voice responded. "She ran Tom. No one runs unless they've got something to hide. Get a picture of her?" Tessa doesn't hear the guy's response, but she assumes it is a yes. "Good. Let's check it against any APBs."

"We don't have time." Tom told the female. "We better head straight to the museum. We'll look into the girl later." Tessa sighed relieved as their foot steps disappeared. She lay on the floor breathing heavily for a moment before she stood and started down the hall. She needed to get out of the house before whoever was in the shower got out.

Misty Cravens was a woman on a mission. Her black heels clipped the pavement as she walked to her car, not even noticing the van just behind it. She also didn’t notice when the van doors opened at first, not until Asian looking men began pouring out of it and directly towards her.

”What… what are you doing?!” she shrieked as she was grabbed, bewildered and angry. Fear didn’t have much place in her face at all as she tried to fight off the much stronger men who put a gun to her head. ”You’ll pay for this!” she growled, getting into the van and letting the hate ooze off her towards the others she was surrounded by. Her eyes, surrounded by heavy handed mascara and liner, pierced into the gaze of her captors, nose and mouth in the form of one who was smelling something awful. But no more words left her lips for the time being. Even when one of the idiots began yelling in her face, asking where her money was, she scoffed. After a moment she rolled her eyes and looked at the man angrily.

”In a safe. With a combination. If it’s just money you wanted you didn’t have to kidnap me you idiots. Just could have broken into my house or something, and I could have written you a check. Or even opened the safe and given you what you wanted. But noooooo just kidnap me. That’s fine. Now I’m going to be desperately behind schedule. When you’re caught, I’ll make sure the book is thrown at you!” she snapped, face red. She huffed and looked away from the man then, looking down at her hands like a child who was angry for being punished and not paying any mind to how the men were looking at her.

Soon enough though, she was being tied up. ”Oh come on. Is that necessary?” she asked in an annoyed sort of voice, sighing and just taking it as there wasn’t much she could do now. One offered her a beer and gave her a blanket, but she kicked it off as best she could. ”I don’t need your filthy beer. Or blanket,” she snapped, lifting a certain finger when offered a cig.

The Hacker was in her room, petting a little robotic cat she’d made years ago out of spare parts. It sat near her keyboard, before walking across it. ”Gah, Tak, seriously?” she scolded playfully, giggling in a little bit of a maddened tone. Her soft brown eyes glanced up to see the screen that had changed thanks to the cat, as her monitors would occasionally display the security cameras of Hark. She’d hacked into their network a couple years ago as well, and now had limited access to what they did. She made her presence quiet though, and had yet to be detected.

Her gaze rested on this screen, taking in the sight of what appeared to be a rather clunky, old android hitting the ground and glass falling all around him. Her lips parted softly, and excitement rose from within her. He was malfunctioning. And how old could he possibly be? The thoughts began to race in her mind and she bounced a little like a child before licking her lips. She turned her focus to how to get him to safety, if she even could. She looked again at the area he was in, and chewed her lip as she determined which screens she needed. Her fingers began tapping rapidly at keys, pushing her hood back and revealing her unaged face. Gemma began connected to a small bus ad right in front of the machine, flashing a message. *GET OUT OF THE CITY. I WILL FIND YOU* it read. She flashed it twice before letting the ad go back to normal, not wanting any humans to see it. She knew from what she’d seen over the years there were humans who sympathized with their cause, but they were almost always killed. She’d seen it happen, and she wasn’t about to put any people in danger she didn’t have to.

Dex - Home

Finalizing his shower, the 'ex-co' turned off the shower head and enwrapped his lower body with a beige towel, covering himself. He had already dried himself with the towel beforehand though, stepping out and looking at himself in the bathroom's mirror. He ran his hand through the three scars near his rib cage, recalling how he got them. Afterwards, he placed both palms on the fossett counter, now face to face with himself. He looked into the eyes of his reflective counter part, seeing the person he was before Taylor.

Before meeting his wife, Dex was nothing close to saint like. It was mistake after mistake with this guy, as though trouble seemed to always find him. He had a criminal record, assault and battery, theft, etc. charges that always stayed with him no matter where he ran off too. But despite those lingering wrong doings, Dex was able to overcome after meeting Taylor. She helped him get away from the only life he knew. When he was with her, trouble left the picture. Everything he dod, every step he made was for her now - he found a purpose in a way. He even took on religion for a while, thanking God for giving him this messiah. His upside down life turned around.

But now, as he looked into his own eyes, he could see his past self and did not argue. He understood that he needed to become an animal to end all this bloody terror. Only this man would be able to rid of Providences true creatures. He became the predator, no longer the prey. His thoughts ran blank as a sudden tap came from the next room. It wasn't a loud sound, but an unexpected one nonetheless. Slowly he opened the bathroom door and walked quietly to the kitchen where he remembered to have a handgun in one of the drawers.

The first one didn't have it, but the second one did. He checked for it to be loaded, and once confirmed he cocked the pistol. Dex peaked in every angle, heading to the bedroom which is where the noise came from. And just as he opened the door he saw a woman trying to get out of the room. Reactively, he took two steps back and aimed the gun at her. "What the hell are you doing in my house?!!" He yelled loudly and angrily. "Answer me!!" He commanded, not taking any bullsh*it.

His remaining camera scanned the area as he turned his head in a sweeping arc, he was in some kind of build site, houses were being put and roads were being laid. Something caught his attention in the corner of his vision, turning to it he noticed an advertisement on a bus stop was blinking, "GET OUT OF THE CITY. I WILL FIND YOU", the first thing Five picked up on was the missing full stop, though he knew he wasn't programmed to punctuate as a computer it still annoyed him. The second thing he noticed was that it was a message that didn't belong there and was possibly directed at him as there was no one else in the immediate area, who wants me to get out?

Getting up with some difficulty due to his damaged parts he tried to get a better idea of where he was, scanning the signs he gathered he was at the corner of imperial and core, though he didn't know what to do with this information. Turning around to view the development project he believed there would be things there he could use to repair himself, he walked towards it and as he did he passed by much newer androids, with faces, he never saw the point of faces as he much prefered numbers, just like the one on the front of his head, does it count as a face? As he limped/shuffled across the street he found that the buildings were practically done, killing his chances of finding tools to repair himself, though as he walked he found that the singing was getting louder. His sensors tried to pick up the source of the singing but didn't come up with much other then a general direction, his CPU still too frazzled not process too much information.

As he trundles along he noticed in the reflective windows on either side of him that he really looked to be in bad shape, reflecting how his mechanics felt inside. He wasn't concentrating on where he was walking when he bumped into someone, a red headed woman (android?) and fell over.

After the hacking incident things went back to an uneasy tension. Then the radio went off "Longsword, we have a kidnapping in progress." Bryan shot up and grabbed the radio "Who's the vic?" He asked, "Misty Cravens." With that said the team scrambled and got off the radio, weapons were grabbed and loaded, body armor put on, and specialized equipment grabbed. If someone was dumb enough to kidnap a CEO they certainly had never heard of Longsword. "Jose, hows the shadow looking?" He asked the driver, "She's fine boss, improved her speed a bit she should be able to keep up with a police cruiser." Jose answered, "Good don't wanna look like a bunch of snails out there, Terminus load this into the chamber of your rifle." Bryan commanded and threw a round at Terminus, upon being shot the casing would break and a tracker would transmit a signal to the APC, of the targets location.

Finally the team was ready, their two hundred year old weapons in hand. "Let's rock this shit Longsword, these bastards shoot at you, shoot to kill. If they surrender cuff em but only if they surrender got it?" Almost in perfect unison his team answered "Yes sir." It was so great it almost brought a tear to his eye. "Lets nut up or shut up then." He shouted, and loaded up his team following suit and The Shadow pulling out of Hark Hq's garage in pursuit of the target.

On the streets the team used footage of the targets on cameras, to actually chase them down, Bryan grabbed his radio and keyed in to Hark chatter. "All units this is Longsword, we are moving fast, we are expected to cut off the target in 2 minutes, be ready for an engagement over." He closed the channel, and turned to look at his team. He could feel his teams unease, this was big a CEO being kidnapped was big shit and if they failed and she died. Hark would be a laughing stock, luckily these guys probably hadn't figured out that she's worth more dead than alive in terms of a revolutionary concept. Bryan checked his weapon content with it being up to par despite being two hundred years old, he flicked the safety off and steeled himself for this OP.

Kera drove with the siren going all the way to the museum. Tom gripped at a handle for security, but tried to make it look like he was totally relaxed. Kera knew better of course, but she didn't say anything. She wasn't going to let him drive anyway.

They pulled up in front of the museum, glass shattered across the front steps. "Put up some tape." Kera said and went inside to question the employees on what had happened. Tom did as he was told, he didn't care that much for questioning anyway. Never had. That was why he hadn't gone the same route his sister had.

Kera was inside for nearly twenty minutes while Tom inspected the outside. There he found glass moved from something walking through it. Dragging itself a bit. Tom wondered what model this bot was. If it was in the museum that put it at an older model automatically. What kind of bot in there would become aware?

"Whatcha find?" Kera asked startling Tom from his thoughts.

"It went that way." Tom pointed off in the direction Five had gone. "You?"

"Ancient model. Produced in 2098." Tom let out a low whistle. Kera ignored him. "I've got an image of him. It's already processing and APB is out."

Tessa Green

Tessa's hands were up as she spun around. The click of the gun causing her hands to go cold. "I'm sorry, look I didn't know anybody was here." She started her voice trembling. She couldn't tell this man she had been hiding from Hark. He'd just call them up and then that'd be that. She'd be caught. "Please. I'll just leave. I'm sorry. Just don't shoot." How could she get across to this guy she was no threat? "Look I'm just a kid, I was looking for somewhere warm that's it." Not technically true, but she had thought if the Hark officers didn't catch her she'd sleep here. That was of course before she realized this place was inhabited.

Jaques had been clear to Tessa over and over. 'Stay out of other people's way. You never know who'll turn you in for their next meal.' She probably shouldn't have even let the guy think she was homeless. That was enough of a crime in Providence.

Amira felt something bump into her and she took a couple of steps forward before turning to find a clunkier android toppled over. "Are you alright?" She asked in the sweet voice she'd been programmed with. She quickly stepped over to him and knelt beside him, taking in the sight of him. He most certainly was an android now that she got a good look at him. "What model are you?" She asked before she held out a fingertip, the shell that covered her body moving aside and a cord popping out. She was going to attempt running a diagnostic test on him, if she could figure out what model he was. What if I can't override his system? What if he starts to feel, too? She thought to herself in a slight panic, but none of it showed on her face as she tried to help him sit up in the least. "I am Amira, HM-357. I can help you if you wish for me to do so." Her words slipped from her lips like they were programmed to do, but in this moment, she didn't really care. They were words that made it seem as if she was aware of the situation at hand. It was strange how she had been programmed to be able to help other androids, but then again, with people more likely to take apart their android and give it the ability to help others' systems they wanted to be able to charge more for her model. "Can you understand me?"
