Declan Horseman- the Small Giant

Name: Declan Horseman Race: Giant (the kind that stand at 10feet tall, at the most) Gender: Male Age: 30 Occupation: Outcast Personality/Interests Appearance Details Body build: Really, really muscled. Muscled to the point of crushing a man's head with a single blow- or knocking someone into a faceplant with a rough pat on the back. Wide, as in. Hair: Roughly braided to reach the small of his back in a thick tangle Hair color: Black Skin color: White, but very tanned and weathered Eye/Iris color: Stone-grey Height/Weight: 7'/reallyreallyheavy Notable Features: He's a small giant. And he's got a scarred up face, worn hands, and particularly nasty scar that follows the edge of the right side of his jaw Clothing Description Worn leather trousers. Nothing covers his hands, and he wears no shoes- but his feet are probably more durable than reinforced leather boots. Equipment Armor Wearing steel chainmail chest and skirt. The kind is that of giant-make, and is hard and durable. Rough, maybe, but thick and strong. What is light or medium armor to a giant is that of heavy armor to a normal human. Weapon(s) A giant scythe, and a large dagger the size of a shortsword. The scythe's blade is larger than that of a longsword, of course. The shaft is more like a large sapling roughly carved. Powers A giant's longevity, a giant's innate resistance to magic (meaning that if you were to, say, fire a bolt of magical fire, it wouldn't do as much damage- but using magic to throw a rock will strike just as hard as before). His skin absorbs more damage than a human's; where a whip would cut and leave a long, raised, broken-skinned welt, it would do the same to a giant, except not broken-skinned or bloody. Abilities He's got thick skin, big lungs, strong muscles- he could crush a man with his bare hands, and keep dozens at bay with his scythe. He's also a beserker- get him really angry and you'll have to blast his face with ice, or with a great big handful of sand, choke him, or otherwise break his trance to get him out of it. During beserker, he'll gain more strength and durability, be less likely to get hit and more likely to hit, to do more damage with each swing and swing faster while doing so. But it's rage- he could easily be led into a trap. Talents Experienced warrior- as in, he could kill even better than just a giant, so he's doubly deadly, in addition to the giant's strength and reach, and the massive scythe. Magic Nay! Name: Katelia Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 23 Occupation: Grown-Up Delinquent Personality/Interests: Kat's always been someone with… flexible morals. She knows how to manipulate and work a situation to her advantage, but lately she's been favoring the straight-forward method of negotiations – that is, outright threats of violence. Though very clever and resourceful, she's never had an official education and tends to ignore other perspectives if they don't suit her interests. Kat is more solitary than social, and tends to keep to herself, finding entertainment in whatever's available to her. Over the years, Kat’s gotten very good at annoying the hell out of everyone around her, essentially killing any chance of personal relationships. This sits just fine with her. Appearance: Short and lithe, Kat's not the most… intimidating figure. What she lacks in size though, she makes up in her striking appearance. With skin as dark as the night sky, silver eyes, and straight white hair cropped in a short, fluffy style, Kat attracts attention wherever she goes. Even more noteworthy than her coloring though, is the fact that she lacks a right arm. In its place is a scarred patch of flesh, cut right where the shoulder meets her torso. Kat has a tendency to simply chop the right sleeves off of her tops to get rid of the excess fabric, though she always wraps her torso in plain white bandages, so as not to let others see her scar. She has a litany of other, smaller scars littering her body. Details Body build: Little Hair: Short, messy Hair color: White Skin color: Dark brown Eye/Iris color: Silver Height/Weight: 5’, 96 lb (152 cm, 43 kg) Notable Features: Missing right arm, scarring where the shoulder ends Clothing Description: She wears soft leather boots, brown pants and a green tunic. White bandages can be seen underneath, covering the majority of her torso, especially her mangled shoulder. Kat also has a necklace with a thin silver chain, and an arrow charm on it, far more expensive than the rest of her outfit combined – it's the one thing she refuses to part with, even if it would get her hot meals and a roof over her head for three months. Hel: Hel is, quite simply, a snow leopard big enough for Kat to ride around – which she does, often. He seems to be tremendously attached to her, and it's not always clear if he answers to her, or the other way around. Nonetheless, he is unfailingly loyal to her, and quick to bear his fangs at anything he considers a threat. While Kat loves Hel, she's worried she's become too dependent on both his protection and emotional support. So far, life's done a fine job of teaching Kat that things she love tend to get taken away from her. She fears that when the day comes that Hel will no longer be at her side, she'll be both too weak and too broken to face whatever comes for her next. Equipment: Water flask, tinder box, rope, spare clothes, various bandages and herbs for healing purposes, an old warm jacket, extra little glass bottles for anything she finds that she might want to take with her, an ocarina that she can no longer play Weapon(s): Keeps an array of knives and daggers on her at all times, used for either throwing or slashing. Name: Naida Marcoon Race: Water Sprite (Combination of Faerie and Mermaid) Gender: Female Age: 21 Occupation: Part Time Bartender Personality/Interests: Naida is a very exuberant person. She can be fearless and brave at times and she tends to not be angry almost at all. She has a very long fuse when it comes to anger and she is very patient. She is also a very friendly person right off the bat, but she is also one of those people who is “if you hate me, I’ll hate you right back”. She is not afraid to speak her mind and does not seem to be afraid of anything. Appearance: Details: Body build: She is very slender, but it is mostly muscle Hair: Short and slightly wavy, but not super wavy or curly and it reaches slightly lower than her chin. She also has short side bangs. Hair color: Her hair is almost completely white, but she has some slightly blue tinges in there from her mother’s bright blue hair. Skin color: She has very pale skin, but it tans fairly easily. Eye/Iris color: She has very pale blue eyes and sometimes seem white at times. Height/Weight: She is about five feet seven inches and she weighs about 60 pounds at most. She has lightweight bones so she can fly and she does not really contain any fat in her at all. Notable Features: Whenever her feet touch water, they transform into her long, silvery blue tail. When she is not in water, she has large, silvery blue wings on her back that look a little like dragonfly wings. She also has a scar on the side of her stomach where she was impaled with a harpoon because the fisherman thought she was a baby whale. (Ignore the claws in the picture. She does not have those) Clothing Description: When she is on land, she most wears a halter top white crop top that looks mostly like a bikini top. She has a flat front going across her chest and upper abdomen, but all that connects it to the back is a string. It falls just above her belly button and exposes all of her back so she can move her very thin wings. She also wears short jean shorts and knee high black boots. When she is in the water and in her mermaid form, she just has on the crop top. Equipment: She carries a small horn of water on her side and she also has medical supplies in a bag that she carries off her shoulder. She has some extra food in her pack and a seashell that she can use to call to the water if necessary. Weapon(s): Knives, bow and arrows Powers: Telepathy: She has the ability to talk to anything with her mind, whether it would be fish in the sea or people on land, or even animals on land. Aura Sight: Auras are the hazy color around people or creatures that tells what mood they are at some times. She can see those. Abilities: Flight (obviously): She is able to use her wings to fly to any height that she would like and any length that she would like. Fast Swimmer: Because she grew up so much in the water, she has adapted to be able to swim fast, both in her mermaid form and faerie form. Accelerated Healing When In Water: When she is in the water, her wounds heal faster. Talents: She can play almost any instrument that is set down in front of her, she can make any drink within a few minutes, and she is very acrobatic. Very good with a throwing knife and aim with bow and arrows. Magic: Water Magic

He's, well, evil-looking and I'm not taking the race of giants as a literal race of massive people, but more as a label for the massive plainsmen. That man you sent a picture of- he'd be squashed. Declan could pull a plow that a horse would pull, or have trouble pulling. And regardless of what you think of that guy, he's a human- and a horse would most certainly win tug-of-war. And horses aren't used to ride, silly people, they'd be crushed! No, they're more like dogs- but they breed some of the best horses evar.

Aye, I acknowledge your point- but double his width in muscle, give him stone-heavy bones, and do you think the giants woudl be able to reasonably ride a horse? A Knight in full armor can only ride a horse so much- and giants are easily heavier, without armor. And stop taking everything so literal- what is a dog? "Man's best friend." A horse to a giant is a similar relationship, though more intelligent in many ways. God, if I knew there would be such hard understanding of giants that aren't ten stories tall, I wouldn't have bothered. Scratch Declan, I'm not in the mood to put up with a small crowd of skeptical criticizers.

His giant isn't so much tall like traditional giants as wide like a bodybuilder, I think is what he's saying. And if his char is extremely heavy from the muscles, he might be right about the horses, unless they're special huge giant horses - 545kg horse to carry comfortably 109kg of weight. There's another article citing a Japanese research team that said a max of about 29% of horse's weight for their breed tested. So if his char weighs more than 200kg which seems quite likely, then our usual standards of horses won't be able to carry him and move easily.

If these giants have been around for a while and horses are part of their culture to any extent, it would not be beyond imagination that their breeds of horse have developed to be larger in size/musculature to better cope with the weight of their bearers (something humans did). Plus, that source is dealing with horses of a different size. A warhorse could weigh up to 2,200 lbs (whereas those were nearly half of that), and during jousting tournaments they would carry an average of 160 extra lbs between their armor and the armor of their riders, not to mention the weight of their riders which could exceed 200 lbs for a healthily muscled warrior.
