Small question: what does MAN stand for? I know it's a press organization but what's the full name?

Martian Associated News, an NPC I made up that basically covers big stuff and mainly corporate related things.

Out of curiosity: are there any animals that live on Mars in this setting? They'd have to have been brought to Mars, obviously, but I was wondering if ranches of some kind would be around.

EDIT: Also, does the map wrap around? As in, can I reach Skylar's region by driving northeast, for instance? It's kind of important for me to know, as it makes maintaining a defensive pact (if one is made) that much easier.

Ok work is done. What the hell's going on? La Parranda has a functional Excavator...Eudaimonia knows SG is coming...It might take me a while to get some posts in-I just finished work for the week.

As an aside, I found a song that comes close to what I envision this RP's theme as, especially after what went down in Elysium.

Escape From New York's theme.

EDIT: Similar note: I feel like Assault on Precinct 13 has a great theme for anything involving a corporate shootout.

To be honest, for a theme about Elysium I more thought about this. And for a corporate shootout maybe this?

Cool, now I have an old action flick to watch(Precinct 13). Also Legion going for the good ol' mass effect soundtracks eh?

Mass Effect has some pretty good tunes, for sure. That's a nice pick for a corporate shootout. Different feel to it; works for different scenes. I actually really like the galaxy map music from the first / second game for peaceful moments.

Precinct 13 and Escape From New York are definitely movies I need to watch again.

Aye, that's true. Though i've never seen Precint 13 or Escape From New York. To be honest, I never even heard from either two movies. Are they any good?

And back to the RP, if i remember correctly, one of the factions had something for Marsian expidition or ancient relics. Is that still a thing?

They're somewhat cheesy action flicks / thrillers from the 70's that are really fun to watch. Precinct 13 is pretty much turning a gang war vs. police into a zombie film without zombies, and Escape From New York is about a bad man named Snake that's forced against his will to rescue the President from New York, which is now a walled off city where the U.S. dumps its criminals.

Yeah. Cheesy but good.

That's my faction. Yeah, it's a thing - but I'm spacing out the quest for Martian relics very distantly. The next post I make will involve the search, actually, as well as the first attempt at expanding the tunnel network (which won't be finished for a while, I think), and probably another couple things.

I don't want to rush the Martian relic route, however, because that's something I want to come into play later or during a time of emergency.

I see. Well I had a certain idea that my faction would find a certain 'core' which seemingly mimic the thoughtproces of the human brain, thus creating a new generation AI (*cugh* Reapers! *cugh*). But I'll hold off the idea until you get there.

Also, by now probably most people know that my Nr. 1 inspiration source is Mass Effect. So yeah, what are you guys' inspiration sources? I'm curious.

Hm.

History, for one, surrounding revolutions in Latin America and Mesoamerica. The Pueblo Revolt stands out in my head, too. The concept of the penal colony as dreamt up by Great Britain certainly factored in; the current state of poverty in Mexico and the generally superior-than-you behavior of the Western world...

Shadowrun and Starcrawlers gave me some of the imagery for how corporations ruling over everyone would work out, and why someone might rebel if they had the chance. History factors in here again; revolutions are most often successful when they take advantage of the mother nation's moment of weakness (England, for instance, was in HUGE debt thanks to fighting the French, which made it possible for the American colonies to successfully revolt - among other factors)... You'll notice the revolution for La Parranda happens shortly after the Earth government collapses. That's on purpose. "Strike now while we have the chance" is the idea behind that.

Borderlands 2 and other Space Western games/films/whatever also gave me the mental image for La Parranda, as did a few Western films. Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a good example.

The relatively instability of the nation and its indeterminate government comes from real world history once again. A lot of colonial nations wound up changing their governments multiple times; even the United States switched from the Articles of Confederation to the present Constitution, a Constitution which has only lasted so long because it's constantly being revised.

Yeah, history had a huge influence on me for this RP.

EDIT: Oh, and the subterranean thing? I just like subterranean cities. A lot.

Oh, and concerning what my faction finds when the time comes:

...I'm basically going to let Rhymer, as the GM, decide what's found. I want it to be a surprise to me.

Animals:Yes. Agricultural stock in the farm biomes, vermin in the cities. Anything specialty just ask before you write something around it. If your thinking mole-men then Bloody Brothers are the closest you will get. I don't think irradiated dire-moles really fit into the setting but it's something to consider...

Map can wrap.

We should wait for archaeology/ancient alien storyline. Let's not have to much going on at once. But when the time comes that is how it will work.

Precisely, I don't want it to happen any time soon. It should be way later, which is why I'm taking things so slowly with it.

@ArenaSnow You'll get plenty once me and our fearless GM are done with the joint post.

As for my inspiration I think it's a mix of the American Revolutionaries, modern Terrorist organizations and the Star Wars Rebels.

@ArenaSnow I will assume you mean the Terran Dominion?

This really makes it a lot easier to envision all units and looks of certain buildings and things. For me it helps with a little more 'immersion' in the RP (i don't even know if that's being used around here)
