@vietmykeYes Greg is definitely the typical stereotype, but he'll have some unique qualities of his own. Though I wouldn't go as far as to say he's snarky or super sassy or anything like that

I didn't extend more on the backstory than I thought was really necessary, as I find it more fun having the little details revealed as the characters go along the story. Such as the Mother Hen stuff; there's tidbits here and there in the skills section but I'm not sure what else to really add to what's already been stated without getting into excessive detail.

Wasn't really sure what to put in regards to 'blood magic', its just a filler name really for the equivalent of whatever 'dark' magic is in this universe. And I put him as novice just because there wasn't a lower skill level to place it under, but I was hoping down the line he may be able to develop it slightly. Could make things more interesting for the other magic users dealing with a character who wants to use magic in a way that society deems as taboo.

I'll make the changes regarding the dagger. As for the mask, it's simply there as a prop that could later turn into a potential plot device. I'm just as fine with it not being there, I was thinking more along the lines of the thief/bandit trope.

@Dondude, If there are skills and items your character possesses as a result of a person from their history, I'd like you to expand more on said person in the background. Whenever I'm concerned, never be afraid to provide more detail. For instance, the 'blood magic' is something you could've mentioned in your background to let us know that your character is aware and interested in it, without necessarily having experience or skill with it. You can put it as 'untrained blood magic' for now.

The mask is fine, though the dagger will probably be more useful as a plot device than the mask, as the dagger is ornate, made of a highly valuable material, and can be traced back to some cult or other.

Thanks for the information, as for the art thing it was mainly a hobby not proper teaching so I guess I should switch it to just illustration (pencil work). Happy to hear you liked it.

Just putting it out that I added a blue journal and a charcoal pencil to her items as she would need those to things to pencil draw stuff. The charcoal pencil being that graphite pencils didn't exist back then in the same manor.

I'd like to join but as a temporary character who leaves the group (or ...you know, get "lost" in the Roleplay) early in the story. I'm uncertain having to go to school in one / two months, that I will be able to play a main character. Thus I've decided to contribute as a temporary character who won't play a large role, If this is too unorthodox let me know?

I've currently read all the characters and my character would likely be someone with minor skills that make up foR what the group lacks. Like should there be a healer, a tank and a scholar - I'll choose a scout or mystic like character. Is this alright?

Name: Horatio of Dust
Age: 17-19?
Personality: Likely shy, but curious. Rebel against convention.

Backstory: On a journey, travelling because his house got burnt down so have to meet a relative to stay with.

Skills and Abilities:

JouRneyman Movement Magic - This knowledge enables him to draw sigils that is used to create small barriers that can move and hold weight.

Novice Instrumental Music, Violia - Horatio can play one full song and a few simple tunes on a travelling violin he made himself.

Novice Carpentry - He knows how to work with wood, minerals and tannins but while his theoretical knowledge is vast, his practical experience is lacking.

Equipment:
Steel shortsword and Iron dagger - Given to make sure of safety during travels.

Cloak - The cloth is embedded with Ironwood fibre, allowing it to withstand sharp impacts without tearing. Water resistant.

Belongings - Tinderbox, clothes, water, some common medicines and a satchel with silver coins.

Book on Glyphwright - Book commonly referred to as a spellbook, explains the principles and applications of hard light sigils. Borrowed but forgotten.

Calliope Cross

Name: Calliope Cross

Age: 17

Personality: Mostly Calliope comes across as an odd duck, given her dry humor and tendency to be a wee bit fidgety in new settings. However, once she has been around someone long enough, she proves to be a capable and honest individual, who is quick with encouragement and keeps a level head in times of conflict. Calliope's time living in the cathouse has erased any concept of personal space, and she sometimes makes people feel uneasy by standing too close.

Backstory: Calliope was born one bright, sunny day in summer and was then promptly discarded into the nearest alley way. Fortunately for her, this said alley was adjacent to an Edessa brothel and it did not take long for the headmistress to hear the tiny babe's caterwauling and for her to have mercy on the little one.

This is how young Calliope found herself spending her formative years calling a whore house in a southern Edessa border town home. She thought of most of the prostitutes as aunts and they treated her kindly, teaching her to read and write between clients. The headmistress also took a shine to Calliope and tutored her in maths as well as showing her how to barter and get the best deals from the local merchants. In return the young girl did chores around the place, washing bed linens, mending garments, and cooking for the girls during their breaks. As long as she lived here, she was never asked to take on clients and she never offered. While Calliope harbors no ill will towards those who embrace that line of work, it is not a life she would choose for herself.

On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Calliope went to the local market to pick up the supplies for the week. As she made her way back to the brothel, a few people passed her briskly on the road.

"Are you alright?" she called after them.

They did not reply.

When her home came into view she saw that it was being ransacked by orcs and that the headmistress was lying in the dirt at the front of the house with her stomach split from navel to sternum. Calliope had little choice but to turn and flee the scene.

As she retreated toward the capital, Calliope met up with two Weldsmen who were also fleeing north. They agreed to let her travel with them if she did the cooking and mending. Over the next eleven months they taught her how to shoot a bow and skin animals. Their journey came to an end when a lone Orc attacked them in the night, killing her two companions, but not before one of them torn open the beast's throat with a dagger. As the Orc lay gurgling up blood, Calliope stabbed the creature through the chest repeatedly with an arrow until it stopped moving.

Calliope finally makes it to the heart of Edessa a few days after turning seventeen, just in time to board the last caravans heading north.

Skills and Abilities:
Adept Housekeeper - After spending the vast majority of her life doing chores at the brothel, Calliope performs most cooking, cleaning, and mending with practiced ease.
Adept Barterer - Calliope isn't exceedingly charming, nor was she blessed with a silver tongue, but she has a good knowledge of common item worth and refuses to be swindled.
Journeyman Survival Skills - While living on the road for a year, Calliope has learned the basics of survival skills, such as fire starting, shelter finding/building, how to construct a basic snare, etc.
Journeyman Archer - She's only been shooting for a year, but she has great aim when she remembers to keep her breath steady.
Novice Animal Butchery - Calliope has only ever skinned rabbits and squirrels in her travels and would need guidance with bigger creatures.

Equipment:
Recurve Bow, Wooden, Worn - this bow belonged to one of Calliope's traveling companions. It looks hand carved and appears to have been used frequently.
Quiver, Leather, Worn - Lifted from the same companion. It only has five arrows left in it.
Flaying Knife, Good Condition - Kept in rucksack and used for cleaning animals.

I wasn't sure how big Edessa was, so one year of traveling might have been a little excessive, but I wanted to be safe. I imagine the town she grew up in was right on the border of Edessa and Welds. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.

@71342 Glad to see it has real world applicacations, though I am sorry that this has happened to you! I was trying to make her a believable teenager and so I thought I'd give her a few awkward hang ups to show she hasn't developed a complete mastery of herself yet.

@Narcotic Dollie 'real world applications' may be a not of a stretch. I was enjoying the personality until I got to that quirk. Is there any reason why she has that particular reaction instead of some other mental scarring? I don't particularly like the idea of potentially showing the party a dramatic death of an npc or comrade and have some giggling in the background.

Regarding her background, again, not a huge fan of the laughing. Also, how was she able to overpower an orc on her own?

'anti' skills need not be mentioned, their omission implies the lack of skill. As with untrained skills. If they don't have any knowledge of the skill, inclusion is unnecessary.

Equipment is fine.

@vietmyke Calliope's profile has been edited. The laughing quirk was removed and the background was changed from killing an Orc to stabbing a nearly dead Orc until it finally died. Anti skill also remove as well as untrained abilities.

I put the laughing at death as part of her personality because I've been fascinated with cross wired characters lately and I really wanted to play one. I see now that it would be a bad fit for this rp, so I removed it for you. Thank you for the feedback, captain!
