Bio: Completely unaware that he is an earthbender, and happy about that. Ignorance is bliss. Konkiri was born into a fairly poor family, although they coped well with their status. He grew up an only child, which may have contributed to his personality early on. What really tortured him was the lack of food to ever really satisfy his voracious teenage boy appetite (which never went away). He was close to his family, but lost most contact with them after moving to another part of the city to work a laborious factory-related job that paid little.

Personality: Yara is a total sap, an adamant pacifist, she is as naive as they come, and willing to give the shirt off her back to a total stranger. She believes anything at face value, despite knowing that she shouldn't, and wholeheartedly believes that every person is good. In large part her general patheticness is responsible for her appearance. After shaving off half her hair, dying the rest, adding a few piercings, and carrying shiny blades where she can she found alot less people were willing to take advantage of her personality.
Bio: Born and raised in what was left of the Northern Water Tribe, her father was a "Spiritual advisor" spending most of his time at the spirit portal, while involved in her life he was never nearly as much as her mother. Her mother on the other hand was a rather high ranking official in the local militia. She was gruff tough, and took a pretty hardline approach to just about every situation. So it is no wonder that in her rebellious nature, Yara took after her father's passive attitude. She took to meditating on problems rather than taking action against them, and whether it was actually working or that everyone was just terrified of what her mother might do to them if things didn't work out. Things always did for Yara.
Eventually though her parents felt it was pretty apparent that living in what amounted to the remnants of a once great civilization with no real stations to aspire to wasn't what they wanted for her. They sent her to Ba Sing Se to live with her rather wealthy uncle. Unfortunately though the change of scenery wasn't something she took to very well. She was homesick, the city was massive, and completely foreign to her. She spent almost all of her free time for a long time just meditating, not entirely sure what she was trying to accomplish. Eventually though she gave up and ventured into the world, though she quickly found that despite still living a rather comfortable lifestyle, everything had changed. She was no longer the daughter of a woman who would blow your brains out at a whim. She was the naive niece of a rich fat uncle who himself was rather detached. It wasn't long before others noticed, schoolmates, beggars, boyfriends. It was obvious people were taking advantage of her, but she was steadfast in her beliefs and would not alter them, instead choosing to change her appearance to something a bit more intimidating.
Extra: Despite her pacifist nature, Yara is trained in basic swordplay and throwing knives for self-defense. She is pretty strictly against guns though.

Personality: A major intellectual and polyglot—prides himself on his scientific skill and deep knowledge in various subjects, including philosophy, systems thinking, sociology, etc. However, he harbors a deep grudge against the Republic and what it stands for, and he’s well aware of the hypocrisy of his own scientific pursuits. Anarchistic, but he keeps those thoughts out of his work in attempts to be unbiased. Also has a soft spot for things unconventional and considered unaccepted, which is what makes his work so innovative and views so controversial. Sarcastic and blunt, but knows when to hold his tongue.
Bio: His mother also works as a scientist for the Republic, but they aren’t on good terms, opposing each other ideologically. His grandfather on his mother’s side was a bender that was conscripted into working for the Republic as an alternative to being culled, and that legacy continues through him. No one in his current family is a bender, but working in the Republic is a good way to ensure his and his family's place (mother and grandmother) in the inner walls.
Raised by his grandmother but followed in the footsteps in his mother. He specializes in anti-bending technology and also does conformity research for the Republic, a deep foray into the way the mind works—his mother is the works more directly with conformity advocacy, using various means, like subliminal messaging and propaganda creation, to sway the average citizen.
He's identified as genderfluid the moment that he found the word, and his experiences with this has greatly influenced their viewpoints on the topic of conformity, unconventionality, and freedom of choice.

Cypher is a bit rough around the edges. Perhaps its the job or maybe that’s how he’s always been but he’s never found any relief in being kind to those he’s had to kill. It’s not that chasing people down and ending their life has put a dampening on his mood. Not at all. It’s just that giving them any amount of hope hasn’t benefited anyone… least of all himself. And so, since the day he was born he’s been every bit as abrasive as ever. Blunt. Straight to the point.
Focused more than anything else, when given a task he strives to complete that task. It’s what he knows and he knows he’s very good at it. By night he’s hunting benders and by day he’s head of the defense of the city or more specifically the Republic’s police force. The title only makes it all the more necessary to keep all optimistic feelings at bay and keep dominion over his men with a strict demeanor.
Toward Koeska he harbors an understanding and overall brother like relationship. It’s the only kind he shares.
History
Born to a noble house. Cypher received an early and vigorous education on all things from history to the social arts. He’s surprisingly academic if one pays close enough attention. However it wasn’t until he learned of the past transgressions of the benders and their direct relationship with his family did his life make a sudden and unexpected shift.

Much like his forefathers, Wu has dark brown hair and green eyes. His skin however is of a slightly lighter color and he’s fairly tall. Still quite skinny. Clean cut with distinct facial features.

A weary and regretful demeanor. Wu’s time as King has left a weight on his shoulder that has begun to take it’s toll. He means well but he understands the reason why the world is the way it is… and more importantly he understands his specific situation. He rules his people fairly yet strictly making sure that the people are happy but always remember their place and the problems that set the world afire. He doesn’t want history to repeat but he doesn’t want his people to continue living the way they are… making him a very conflicted person.
History
Wu was born in the year 307ag, a good 63 years after the last great war. He grew up near exclusively in the palace and was always surrounded by those politicians that ran the world… and the children that would run the world after them. Wu’s position had been made clear early on: That the fate of the Republic would eventually rest in his hands and he would have to care for his people when the time came. He took too his predestined life with a vigor rarely seen.
Lessons started early in his life focusing on the history of the world and why he lived in what was now considered the very last city on Earth. He learned of the hard decisions his forefathers had to make for the preservation of humanity and for peace. He learned that in time he too would have to make those same decisions and would have to live with the consequences… for better or worse. He learned that his life was not merely his own but also that of the people he ruled. His future would prove to be trying but the rewards would be immense. Of course as he grew older, the real lessons, those lying underneath the ones he was taught as a child became clear. There were lies around every corner in the world and for the betterment of the Republic, it was his responsibility to uphold those lies.
His rule for the most part was unremarkable due in part to the fact that the laws already in place were simply enforced. He himself made sure of it. Benders, were killed off immediately as were criminals. There was no tolerance for violence of any sort as the world had already seen it’s share of it. In this way, there were no revolts during his reign, no wars to be waged, pressing political issues to dictate. It wasn’t until he was left to think for himself that he’d begun to second guess the way of the world.
Sure he’d never truly stood among his own people but he’d seen them in the flesh. Men and women were brought to his attention on a consistent basis and each of them… had a story. They didn’t tell it but he could see it in their eyes. They brought him pieces and over time he put together a full story. His people were safe but they were left wanting… like there was a hole that needed filling.
He felt he had to do something. Perhaps it was his turn to make a tough decision for his people, like his fathers before him.
