I see a lot of RPs of all kinds that forgo the usage of RNGs due to lack of trust. I was thinking if there would be a way to have an "RNG Post" of sorts where you could put in a command that would delete all other text/coding in that post and just have the generator or select a different type of post that would be labelled "RNG"

The way the post would look would be something like "<User> has opted for a dice rolled between X and Y... the RP gods have selected number Z". Perhaps there could be multiple rolls in a post but the post would only have the RNG results.

The post would be un-editable even by the creator so there wouldn't be any distrust that someone was fudging numbers and since it'd be on-site and not a screen-shot of another website, people would know that the creator isn't just repetitively rolling for the number they want.

While I have a feeling this is a very complex thing to code into a website, I know for a fact that there are RPs were the sense of randomness could improve the quality.

Oh hey, another forum I'm on actually has one of these systems and uses it for a game of theirs. I'm actually all for this idea.

Interesting idea. Would work best for short posts, though.

Unless of course you had the option for multiple "decisions".

"X has opted for the Great Old Ones to decide seven times.
First is a 7. Sub-par result.
Second is a..."

This could then be followed up by a post written with those results taken in mind, say if the post was a conflict of sorts.

This would fit well in with the dice roller that has been proposed (but not really designed).
