Exactly. The point of the Premise phase is to have as broad an overview as possible without locking down to much of the plot.

Well, they are awesome ideas! I think it would be best to come up with a single sentence that is a sort of...manifesto master theme that anyone can look at when coming up with new ideas to check and see if it fits. Let's all think some more on this for another day or two. Sound good everyone? See if we can't come up with some more potential "Premises" ideas.

Also if were doing the whole spelljammer thing I would like it to be earth-like and not specifically earth. And speaking of magic:

My idea

Magic awakens on Earth, triggers the 'Big Evil' to come blow it up, (which it does) Mankind flees to outer space with the help of magic, but the planet was literally the power source of magic. After the destruction of the (earth-like) planet, chunks of the planet are highly sought after because of the intense power they bestow. Ships run off chunks of mountains or granite or basalt or sea-water. Swords have clumps of grass or stone in the blade giving the wielder power. Geomancers work to preserve what few pieces of their destroyed planet they can save with religious fervor and unlock the magic within those pieces. The 'Big Evil' wants only to destroy-a monster of the void and nothingness.

Not saying I want to do that^ but it's where my brain went. I might even flesh that setting out for something else :)

"Only by discovering the fifth force (a.k.a. Magic) was it possible to create a unifying theory of everything, which allowed humanity to reach new highs in everything..."

I especially like the magic tech merge aspect. And space. Who doesnt like space.

Cannot wait to see how we implement the basic magic XP are there space wands, or fancy tech that makes you a wizard? Or is everything down with waving one hand or the more restrictive route of drawing circles and chanting...or a mesh up of it all depending on which schools of space magic we make up.

I may adding this to early but for time I personally think that making it further in the future is better. More history we can make up.

Well, my idea is for the magic to be done using a variety of magitech devices. Some are more single purpose, like a sword that uses magic to violate physics and become huge and stuff, while others are like, say... a magic staff with an attached keyboard that lets you rapidly type in spells.

This sounds cool. Forget about the traditional stuff like wands and swords and whatnot. What if you need highly sophisticated equipment to even percieve magic? People known as magi would walk around with a suit full of gadgets and technology in order to perform their craft.

I like this. This is pretty unique, and insane, and cool. Can we do this?

"Using advanced technology, people have discovered magic, allowing them to travel to the stars"
