Well she did help stop the bear xD and like the others, she couldn't do much against the shadows. But sure, Yuki can try. Doesn't mean it will go well.

There is a difference between 'luck out and stop the bear' and 'have a good chance of surviving a good assassin long enough that someone else can intervene'. Also she keeps going into danger, so being able to do something in it other than hope for the best is a nice start. :p

It wasn't luck. She doesn't realize it, but she did know what she had to do. And no one intervened the assassin. He just did something then left her alone since there was a opening.

And she hasn't exactly gotten much of a chance to show what she can do. She is just assumed to be useless. :p

She wouldn't need protection if she was a good fighter. It's much easier for a single person to get across Japan than an entourage. Thus, she can be made into a better fighter, which makes things easier for all concerned. >.>

There is a different reason why she does have experienced fighters with her. It just hasn't been revealed yet as I've said before. <.<
