The cataclysm

And now for the catastrophy. Basially by the end of this decade in an alternate Earth the ozone layer was about 30cm thinner than usual, which was just enough for a worldwide tragedy when a huge solar flare hit us. Most of the electronics died, and only every 8th people survived. Then famine hit and even more died. Governements perished, and seeked refugee in military complexes where they could live and research. They have shown that the flare cause a runup greenhouse effect, and soon the oceans started evaporizing. Rivers ran out, and lakes perished. Most of the population went into bomb shelters and sewers, trying to escape the heat above. The atmosphere became really hot and full of water, that most plants and animals died. around 94% of all species went extinct. For nearly 200 years the groups of survivors struggled to survive, abandoned by the still standing military. Eventually the heating stopped, and the planet returned to a barely habitable state. The military started searching for survivors and built up the Ashurian empire. For nearly 120 years they have recovered the relics of the old world, but they still struggled to understand what they once knew. But human greed was the cause of thir downfall. You know about Gabriel and how he fled. But the rest stayed there and fought a bloody civil war. After years filled with fighting many people left the city Ashuria and went to seek shelter. In the end the uprising won, and they killed every member of the Seven and the old governement people. They are now a Tyrannic band who are just like Scrotus from Mad Max. They have abundance of coal and oil, and they control the biggest reserve of drinkable water. There were hovewer many groups who didn't join Ashuria and developed their own settlements. Now after this war, small town are sprung around the entire globe, wherever there is water and shelter from the unbearable heat. And there are those who still live underground, not knowing about what is happening outside. We call the cave dwellers, who prefer to develop their cavernous colonies, Pale Skinned. Those who live in ruins of skyscrapers and cities, or follow a nomadic way of life, are the Scorched. Now it is 60 years in advance, Gabriel is dead, but there are a lot more airships around, making the econome flourish like it has never been. There are generators that function, and water dams provide electricity too. They use the electricity to create hydrogen and oxygen from water. they use the first for the propellant in the balloons and the second as a way to grow crops. Don't expect wheat or anything fancy. they are mostly vines that live in canyons, and bushes that provide berries to eat.

So any more questions about the world? I am happy to answer. If I amde any contradictions feel free to adjust me, I am more than happy to correct it.

@BytheSpleen I understand. There truly is no gearpunk genre here, but I get your point. I think it is time to tell the cataclysm in order to better understand the situation. Most of the water evaporated, but a huge chunk went underground. The planet has huge coverage of clouds, but mostly in early and late hours when it can cool down enough. Rain is fairly common at night (once a week), but in the day it is really rare. The town that are the biggest either have a big waterfall, fountain or a way to suck water up(eg. a pump from the old world) oil and coal are abundant, but they use electrolysis to cteate hydrogen that fill the baloons, rather than using these fuel sources (yes there is small amounts of electricity avaible) I will make a post to explain it the best soon, but thats all you have till I get out of this bloody car

A barren world awaits you!

This is gonna be long, you don't need to read it all if you don't want, you won't miss anything cruicial!

Lore

When humanity fell as we know, the world fell into menace. Let's just say things went s***. So there were the big ass nothing, oceans dried, cities ravaged. But do not expect this to be the end. If films about the apocalypse taught us anything, it is that there are always survivors. So there were a few who survived. They hid underground, and lived on scavenging. Hundreds of years have passed, generations were born and killed, and eventually the weather conditions calmed. Humans came on the surface, only to find a barren wasteland dominated by sand. But underground water sources kept them alive, and they started their settlements. Soon they became big towns, then a great empire rose, that assimilated all. We call them the Ashurians. But human greed is far beyond any other instinct, and the second apocalypse came. Wars against each other, everything they built so far got destroyed again. To escape certain death, the Council of Seven made the blueprints for a vessel similar to the ships of the old world, that could soar the skies and escape our own demise. They gave in to Gabriel, who we now call the Archangel. He built the mighty Lightning, a magnificent airship which he used to search for a new place to settle down. He found the remnants of an old city, and thaught the survivors how to build his ship. Soon he started to spread the word of the Mighty Seven, and teached others how to make airships. Now humanity left the Earth and travels on airships to survive. Based upon Steampunk technology, the dominate the skies with basic balloon technology. But who knows what awaits them?

Phew that was a long one! Don't bother if you gave up, I told ya you can. So what is this? An RP about an age where humanity uses airships to travel. They travel from settlement to settlement, trading and fighting pirates. These settlements are either canyons and river beds where airships can park, or cities with skyscrapers as beacons for travellers. We would be a crew of the TSS Magnificent, a usual ship. Only difference is that the captain (me) is the son of Gabriel, and the ship has some modifications to make it stand out. We would discover new technologies, and help humanity rebuild, occasioanlly find secrets.

So what am I looking for?

It would be the best if we could get around 5 people (and me) to be the crew of the ship. I think you can already tell that I am not dead serious, so if real life happens we understand, and the be active part of any RP is thrown out the window. Posts should be short but not as short as in free, so around 2 moderate pharagrpahs.
