Slayer magic isn't inherently more powerful than any other magic, it has been proven time and time again. You even said so yourself. I personally think it'd be neat to explore a bunch of dragon slayers doing things in a guild. If you can't come up with a proper challenge for that then something isn't properly balanced. In the beginning Natsu and the other slayers were hardly 'end all powerful'. He only got that way after some training and challenges.

The easy way to fix that would be to have everyone simply be new slayers to the guild, and not all too powerful. B rank at most. There, bam, fixed that issue almost immediately.

Besides, I doubt all the slayers would get along. Who knows? Internal conflict between them could be a very real thing. People with that amount of power always clash heads in some manner.

*Shrugs*

I suppose I'll just have to respectfully disagree, here, but I do think it'd be doable fairly easily, personally.

What part of the, it's cannon there aren't that many dragon slayers did you not comprehend? This is not up for a debate. We want to see some creativity. That is what Neo and I ask of. Creativity.

Thinking outside of the box never hurt anyone before. GM word is law. And if everyone here has a problem with that, and thinks we're overreaching, we're not.

We have 1 Arc that deals with dragon slayers

We would also like Other Characters built so we can build Arcs around the different ideas of the characters. Or we're doing all about the same thing.

It's not just about Power. It's about the things we can do. The more characters we have that aren't similar, the more interesting this RP will be. The more characters we have that are similar, the less interesting things we will have because we'll have to at some point deal with Power Creep. You see it all the time in Naruto or DBZ, instead of creating limiting balanced structures, they continue to add new and new and newer elements till no one can touch a certain character.

This takes away tension. Drama.

We have 1 Dragon Slayer, yours.

Depending on how they are written we will accept 2 more. 2 or 3 Dragon Slayers. And then we want Normal Mages as well because we want to explore different ideas and elements in this RP.

It's called Good Story Writing.
@Neo Is Delight
I know you want to keep the idea of Dragon Slayers fairly rare, but since the guild is known mostly because of it's higher than average number of Dragon Slayers wouldn't it in some way make sense that a sort of clique would form from them? And since we'd be focusing on a specific group of the characters rather than the entire guild is it that important a distinction to be made? Surely as we wrote through the RP the number of non-dragon slayers would be made apparent from us writing them as NPC's?

There's a saying I like;

If everyone's special, then no one is special.

If you joined a DC RP and everyone wanted to be a Superman Clone because it has arcs about Superman turning evil and being a god. Then the 1 Superman Clone, no longer becomes relevant because everyone is a Superman Clone. While yes! Generally you would want more Dragon Slayers.

But that doesn't tell a good story. Also it begins to create this power creep, if everyone is a Dragon Slayer and their magic is supposed to be super powerful awesome. Then any ordinary character or villain doesn't stand a chance against 6 Dragon Slayers.

Your two GMs, me and Neo, both wrote normal mages. Yes, I made my own magic and Neo did as well. But! We don't have have Dragon Slayers. I am comfortable with at least 2 or 3 PC Dragon Slayers. But not the whole damn cast. Then it makes my normal mage or anyone else's normal mage irrelevant. And it becomes focused on just the the Dragon Slayers.

Then the normal mages are like "why am I even here"

I normally avoid getting into discussions like that when it doesn't involve my own characters or cause any sort of direct impact on my life but this time I actually feel compelled to point something... Isn't that too much of a selfish action?

I mean, taking a famous character as your face claim is quite the normal practice for roleplayers to start with - hardly qualifying a reason for refusing a character. Also, It's important to realize that even if someone decides to take a famous character as reference for appearance they're not obliged to make a character identical to the referential appearance, they're merely providing some visual reference to make it easier for us to visualize them, and even if they do decide to take some aspects of the original character it's not like it will ever be a complete copy - after all the development of the character will always depend on the specific environment and how they interact with it.

Anyway, ignoring the whole half-drunk speech about how you should be able to do the character the way you like and repressing that is wrong, the point of this whole discussion is pointing that refusing a character because you personally don't like the way it was made is kind of going against what RPs stand for. It's not like they're doing metagaming or shit like that, it's just roleplaying a character based in a concept they liked, repressing this without a concrete rrason is just forcing you personal beliefs into someone else - an abuse of you position as GM.

P.s. Shirogane Naoto is a she. She even declares that.

I agree. I said that it was a selfish action. But! Here's the thing. When I go looking for a photo, I do not often go searching up a character's name. I look for vague abstracts; reverse trap, bishounen, glasses, a purse, lipstick. I never go with the intention of using a character from something unless its about all I kind find in terms of appearance.

You can find some really nice stand alone photos just by looking in the vague abstract. I never said I wouldn't accept the Shirogane Naoto photo appearance. But when they share vague similarities to the character, that's where I draw the line.

Characters on a character sheet are transformative. You take a photo, even if its from a popular series and you transform and adapt into something that isn't itself. We can be inspired by characters, but inspiration should be expanded.

But I also as said, don't like popular popular characters. To me a character, if done well, wears their own personality. There is no way for me to visually disassociate myself from a character from a popular series like that. Maybe this is simply the difference between a visual thinker and a non visual thinker.

Popular characters have merchandise, they are on the cover of their own things, I mean I won't accept Naruto as someone's character appearance in the same vane because there's merchandise of him, he's everywhere.

There are times when a character image cannot be used for something else. Because that character has a strong impact in the memory.

But those are my I just woke up half asleep thoughts. I said I never would accept it. I meant to imply to look for something else. And if you can't find something else, then fine.
@Tenma Tendo

Trust me I understand when you like a popular series and a character responds to you. However, and call this personal taste or me inserting my personal beliefs in here. I don't necessarily care for people using Face Claims from popular MCS. Shirogane Naoto is a very popular character, he is on the cover of some of the games. And He is An Androgynous character. While not a complete riff, I do not find I like elements from the original character being taken.

Beyond the fact it states they need glasses to read and you have chosen an appearance without any glasses.

I know this seems personal of me. Maybe a bit nit picky. But I just. I rejected someone on another website in another RP from Sesshomaru. If you need help with photos, I can help. Elsewise it really just....comes off...well in poor taste.

@Oni_

I really like the character.
Yeah...depending on the character my bios can get reeeeally long as well.

Eira was simple, since she didn't exactly have all that exciting or notable history. Some end up being a page or two long if I really get into it.

A page or 2. I wrote a 60 page history once. -cries-

20 to 40 pages is often my max
So, I may not make days end. But it looks like my day's end is possible your days beginning, so it's all good. Just writing history up, 15 minutes max? Maybe? Unless someone in a facebook group beats my Everwing score? Cool. See you in fifteen.

No rush. I mean before the Interest Check or the OCC came up, my characters have taken me at least 2 days to complete. I'll have the history done tonight. Hopefully.
<Snipped quote by AngelofOctober>

I know the feel. I'm the kind of person who does either a simple sheet (2/3 para history/personality at most) or a "wtf-are-you-trying-to-write-a-book" sheet with up to 15K words.

My two characters, plus their shared history far surpassed the 15k word novel time in space. And I am just both in love with it. But secretly in despair and crying because why have I done this to myself and the members of this RP. It's word torture, but its also exciting because those type of writers inspire others to add to the world.

Eitherway I apologize for RIP History.
We're like one big happy OCC family. I am glad to see everyone's enthusiasm showing. Hopefully Neo wakes up from her nap and finishes her sheet. And I finish my history.

I am sorry guys, my brain doesn't know how to do casual, and the history became "I will eat your eyeballs" long. -cries- :( It's a curse of mine.
@Neo Is Delight Hey, is this still accepting? I would like to make a Glass Dragon Slayer, (not sure about the gender) and possibly another non-Dragon Slayer character of the opposite gender.

We're more than accepting some more sheets.
<Snipped quote by Neo Is Delight>

Well... I could pretty much present a full bio to the GMs in a private conversation if you truly want to know about it, but would still preffer to maintain his past hidden from other players as I kind of like to slowly unveil the mysteries of my characters during the roleplay.

Would you kindly? We'll look it over because its important to know, to make sure that there isn't information that may contradict what Neo has, etc. Thank you.
