True. But my character was still on good terms with her parents. I imagine she'd kind of like to keep that relationship intact, and returning to the Academy probably wouldn't exactly be great for that. Aside from pressuring her not to, no, they wouldn't actually be able to stop her. But they could definitely try. Unless of course, like Eldritch mentioned, there's something that says students are obligated to complete the three years. There's probably some sort of liability issues with just creating human/mythic hybrids and letting them loose on society. XD

Hmm... parental issues...

All this talk of parenting has me thinking. Ash's sister was killed in battle in her third year. I feel like it's unlikely her parents will be all "Oh? It's your third year at the academy? Yeah, we cool, go have fun!" So there's likely a bit of tension between Ash and her parents this year. Hell, even she's probably unsure about doing the third year.

Presumably she's at least 18, so they couldn't exactly do a whole lot.

Yeah, there is huge psychological abuse happening there, but thats also present in Alice as well, plus Lily's parents never brought about a situation were one of her limbs had to be replaced with cybernetics, which Alice's did. Overall though, I'd say you both had pretty shit parents. Sindri's were nice, honest people, but they died way too early for him to not feel some psyche trauma over it, especially his Mum who basically gave up on fighting the cancer after the death of her husband and left him alone in the world, he's pretty insecure about that.Personally I don't know whether to consider Lily calling Ikari "Mom" would be cute or just kinda disturbing, depends how you show it.

Just to add on a little, but that contract whereby her dad's company paid for the leg, she had no legal say. It was basically "Hey kid, I'm replacing the leg I caused you to lose and signing you on as a soldier for the same company with or without your consent, Now get on the ground and give me fifty!"

I'd always thought they'd died and left her on the street. If they're still alive and left her because they didn't want her... damn.

It's the 'Luminati! They're the ones behind this!

But hey, it seems that all of us have a lot of suck in our backstories, no clear winner there.
