Blazermate, being a flyer that could fly with the fuel tank in toe, put herself on Oil Shale collecting duty. Since the gas tank could mine it without her needing to do anything but point and push a button, it wasn't all that difficult to fill up the drilldozer, only just a matter of time if anything.

Sectonia meanwhile sensing the Deep Focus decided to go after an item giving off that amount of magic. However being guarded by what seemed to be the strongest enemies in the area meant she couldn't take things lightly. As such, she summoned her Chaos Shield as she went in to engage with the crystal guardians to claim that item. Sensing her hostile intent, they started their assault by blasting Sectonia with the quartz crystal lasers they had, Sectonia retaliating with her own blasts of holy light. As the lasers hit her chaos shield, what sounded like water impacting glass resonated through the area as her blast injured a guardian and her being slightly injured with the shield absorbing most of the damage.

Her second laser would be blocked by the guardian she targeted, as it wasn't attacking and was able to defend itself. She'd find her next attack, a barrage of dark lightning, would also be blocked by these things. It seemed their defenses were very high when not attacking, but she had something for that. A few methods of fixing this problem actually. She'd take the one with less risk to herself overall and using her death pulse to heal herself and force them to go back onto the defensive, she used their time spent blocking her blast to summon a few red antlers to cause chaos. Having blocked her attack, they went on the offensive blasting the Antlers, but as they attacked them, Sectonia used this opportunity to throw void globules at them which their defenses did nothing about. Even those blocking them found the blocking did nothing, and as they unleashed one last laser blast that broke her shield, she finished them off with her own dark projectiles to claim her prize.

Walking into a high end casino reminded Roland of District J, and well, how crazy things got there. People would just end up missing if they ever tried to do anything but play the losing game with the house, and maybe even if they won against the house. As such, unlike some of his compatriots, Roland wasn't in much of a gambling mood. Although if he wasn't so stuck with his initial disposition of casinos, he could make a killing here with his skills and how easily he could use them to cheat at the various games.

As such, Roland decided to look around the casino at the various people walking around. Maybe he'd find something or someone interesting as the others gambled.

Sectonia's barrage of kritz boosted void globules did a number on any of the armored bugs in front of her. Before her was the crushed carapace of the snow beetle she had been throwing them at, and now she was working on the praetorians. Although the kritz was short lived, the praetorians had much weaker armor than the snow beetle. With everyone's coordinated efforts, eventually the horde started to clear, and the seekers had some breathing room.

Heismay, having discovered something, informed everyone of what he saw nearby. While Sectonia was busy continuing to make herself look proper after such a rude awakening, summoning some Antlers to help defend against any straggling enemies, Blazermate began to take a look at what he found. The person at the campsite would probably need a few others to follow her with as he didn't look very nice, but the tank machine thing with the big drill looked fixable. She saw that it wasn't fully destroyed on her scanners, but was damaged and needed some repairs. Thankfully one of her strikers could fix machines with a whack of his wrench, and summoned the engineer to fix the drilldozer. AT first he deployed a dispenser and sentry like normal, but was told quickly by Blazermate to just repair the drilldozer which didn't even seem to take him any metal to do so! Nor did it take him all that much time to get it up and running again.

It was then Edward started to make a fuss around the stagecoach about something bad happening. Flying over to the stagecoach and Edward, Blazermate saw the frozen in... something that Sandalphon was under. "I've got something for this, I think." Blazermate said, using her healing beam on her and using her cleansing power to try to dispel the debuff off of her. She could provide healing regardless, but hopefully this would just work.

"You ordered hotpot? Thats very friendly of you Band." Roland said, filing in like the silent ghost he was. Band and everyone would see that now that he wasn't investigating G corp, he wasn't wearing his mask which might cause a bit of trouble with the person spying on them but they'd only know Roland from him participating in Tekken. He listened to everyone else giving out what they had been doing for the day, waiting until it was his turn to talk. It gave him time to enjoy the various hotpot dishes on the table so it didn't bother him any.

"I had to fight a muscular fisherman and some guy dressed in... I don't know how to explain it but he was this lanky guy that made a buffoon of himself while fighting. They weren't really all that strong, but I guess thats what low tiers are. " Roland said. "After that we tried to get some info on the guys who attacked us last night, but I couldn't find much that was useful that hasn't been said outside of there being lots of internal strife inside that place." Roland was being very careful not to mention G corp by name, keeping things as ambiguous as he could as to not arouse suspicion.

"Speaking of tomorrow, I have a few matches tomorrow as well. One of them might be a challenge though. Apparently One of my opponents tomorrow is a high tier Tekken champion that is said to 'finish things in one shot', whatever that means." Roland said. "All I could tell was he used some kind of flintlock pistol which is incredibly low tech so I don't know how he got such a high ranking with such a useless weapon."

"Seeing as I'm the only one in the Tekken line now from who is gathered here, I should focus on my matches first. I hear the CEO of G Corp is also in Tekken. I wonder if hes one I'll run into?" Roland continued, now making a mention of G corp like he hadn't heard of them to further deflect his information he relayed beforehand to any would be listeners. As he didn't have that much extra info to give, he listened to everyone else give their additional information. And unlike many of the others, he was one of the few that seemed to enjoy all the puns made by or at Nadia's expense.

While Blazermate didn't need to sleep, Sectonia was sleeping as well as she could in her tent. Well, as much as you can when its freezing outside. However once the ground fell out from under everyone, being the two resident fliers of the group, Blazermate and Sectonia were different degrees of ok. Blazermate was totally fine, more surprised than anything while Sectonia had to start flying as the fall woke her up, flying with a tent around her and taking some time to untangle herself from the mess and pack her tent back up.

Blazermate went into her usual motion of healing people, but once a large group of bugs showed up she'd throw out Armstrong to blow them all away with his explosive charge. Sectonia meanwhile took some time to get herself ready as she was so rudely awoken. As she was getting her stuff all ready and packed up and such, Blazermate's sentry which had fallen with the other defensive stuff like the golems and antlers was being mobbed and destroyed by the sheer amount of enemies heading towards its loud, motionless, and tiled to the side self unable to really defend itself from the hordes of enemies. The Antlers couldn't help at all, as they had poofed from the long fall.

As the rest of the team was dealing with the chaff, Sectonia was free to deal with the larger enemies. as the Blowhog was freezing the golems, a savvy seeker managed to use the canonbeetle's snowball to close one of the holes the bugs were pouring from. Seeing that one as the threat that she could actually handle and deal damage to, she casted Slow first on it before throwing void globules at it. While it was a defensive powerhouse with its hardened shell, the void projectiles ignored that and just dealt damage to it allowing Sectonia to ignore what she'd normally need to do in order to deal damage to it. Although that left the blowhog free as she dealt with the canonbeetle.

Seeing as the blowhog only had one way of attacking it seemed, Blazermate, seeing that there was little in the way of healing needed as the others were handling themselves pretty well, decided to use said blowhog as an uber battery by flying up to it and stabbing it over and over with her ubersaw. Maybe it being a very sharp needle poking a balloon would do more than other attacks but Blazermate wasn't concerned with that as she poked it, then as she got her uber full and it tried to shake her off she banished it to kritz Sectonia in an attempt to help her annhilate the cannonbeetle so she could turn her sights onto the blowhog which was now dealing with two of its illusionary contemporaries trying to give it a taste of its own freezing medicine.

"Camp here? Well, it is fairly empty looking. I will set some Antlers to guard the area." Sectonia said, summoning some red and gold antlers to guard the entrance to the area they had just come through before pulling out her own camping supplies. She could at least make camping for herself not so horrible with her fancy extra dimensional camping tent and supplies, although it would be up to the others to offer food for everyone. Blazermate meanwhile summoned her Engineer striker to offer more protection with a level 3 sentry gun and a level 3 dispenser for people to use to refresh their weapons. After that rough fight that would be welcome. "If anyone needs ammo for their guns or needs to fix anything, the dispenser can help you out by offering resources. The sentry gun should keep us safe too. "

Noting all the, frankly, cursed looking items, Sectonia let the camp know aloud. "And if you have items from the days adventures you need appraised, you know what you need to do." with her starting to appraise the 4 dark looking items inclduing the sword that perhaps was the one Vilgrim mentioned.

She'd have to debate if any of these were worth taking. Really it seemed the sword would be the only one she was interested in, but she'd have to research it before she chose to grab it with its cursed nature.

Being the stealthy type, Roland left the opera house when he was sure he couldn't find anything new. It ends up they found the lady that was causing all that commotion in the opera house just a few buildings down, and it didn't take much pressure at all from Grima to have her spell all the beans. Well, it seemed the beans she knew anyway. So there was a hit out on the seekers, much like Roland had guessed, but the reason why seemed to be unknown to her. Her handler, or the one that got her to stay quiet, was unfamiliar to Roland, but he'd observer the situation for now as it seemed Kim and Grima had things under control for the time being. He would've preferred to just go to G corp now that hes learned that its not anywhere close to the corporations hes used to and just get things done there, but maybe that'd be their next visit here soon.
Oblivion’s Ingress II

Sectonia, Blazermate, Mokou, Heismay
Word Count: 3188 (+4)

After the last cultist fell, the Seekers should have had a chance to catch their breath, but the Altar’s gruesome Azoic End left them even more chilled than the biting winter wind’s bluster. At the touch of that eldritch miasma, it felt as though Heismay’s skin tried to divest itself of him, wrenching itself free of the muscle and bone beneath–a most disquieting sensation. It took only a moment for that wretched gut reaction to stop, but the disturbance it left behind did not fade away, instead coiling around and adhering to the frayed edges of his mind like so many suckered tentacles. His grip on the hilt of his longsaber shook slightly, but he did not slide it back into its scabbard. Something else was coming. He could feel it.

The heroes didn’t have long to wait. From the depths of Oblivion’s Ingress, that lightless portal to the World of Light from tenebrous netherrealms of antediluvian horror, the gleeful shadows divulged an abominable Exemplar, pinnacle of its nightmarish brood. It took the form of a giant stooped torso of knotted, melty reddish flesh, with a dessicated humanoid limb on the left side and a writhing cape of tentacles on the other. An elaborate, upside-down iron mask dangled on one end of a spine that seemed to rear up from its corded back as if attempting to escape and ascend to a higher plane, connected to a bloodless torso with arms outstretched in adulant praise. Over its severed neck hung a plume of light blue ghostflame, outlined by a five-pointed crown of darkness that floated in the air, the sign of insidious conspiracy made manifest.

To one side of the freakish amalgamation floated a Cherub, an odious being not much larger than a human child, with three arms and wings like the veiled tentacles of a vampire squid. Bearing scroll and censer, it sported an iron crown of its own, stabbed into a head marked by recessed sockets and yellowed teeth, permanently agape. On the other side wriggled another Altar, and this time it began with a special ritual, Altar of Ambition. Some kind of proud, strident energy washed over the Exemplar, and its candle-flame burned all the brighter.

Heismay forced himself to take a deep breath, his ruby-red eyes narrowing as he steadied his grip on his blade. “Ready yourselves. This won’t be easy.”

“When has it been? Either way, these ones are going to die like the others” Mokou states with a shrug, tilting her head to the side to get rid of a sore spot in her neck before she abruptly draws out the Frozen Flame, throwing it directly at the Cherub in the back. She could have focused on the larger one, but it was always the smaller creatures that were the most annoying. Her icy-hot ball struck the Cherub, inflicting one stack of Frostburn, and bounced back to strike the Exemplar from behind. It went on to ricochet off one of the obsidian cathedral’s lightless surfaces, the side of a tentacle the Cherub again, and then sail off to the right between the Altar and the Exemplar. It would take a little bit for it to find its way back to Mokou’s hand.

Even though Heismay hadn’t spent much magla all day, his expenditure against the previous cultists had taken a chunk out of his reserves. Sadly, it looked like he couldn’t afford to conserve against this repugnant monstrosity. Whatever it had in store for the team, hopefully an accuracy debuff would take the edge off. “Some darker arts!” He burst forward as the Assassin and dealt the Exemplar a quick Lurking Nightblade, but the shadowy sword’s bite didn’t seem to take. “Unfortunate.” He leaped backward in an impressive flip, switching archetypes to Gunner as he did to nail the Exemplar with a poisoned parting shot.

Although hurt and more vulnerable thanks to the stacks of frostburn inflicted by Mokou, the Cherub still managed to be even more of an annoyance than she thought. It targeted the Phoenix with a Sightless Miasma from its blighted censer, which did only minor damage but inflicted both Blind to guarantee that her next attack would miss, and a point of Stress to bring her total to 6. An orange flash behind its iron crown also indicated the gain of a Worship token, which for now did nothing.

The Exemplar then took action. Bright white light spilled from the eyeholes of its dangling mask as it targeted Blazermate with Prelude. As the ghostfire around the Exemplar’s severed neck flared up, reality around the medabot seemed to strain, as if some immense cosmic force was bulging against the walls of normalcy, about to burst through. Blight coursed through her systems, the acidic affliction doing damage over time, as she moved toward the Exemplar against her will. Above her head floated a skull surrounded by blue flame, the Combo token that indicated she was marked for death. At least until her Raincoat procced, dispelling the worst part of the debuff, the damage.

Mokou blinked slightly, her vision blurred so heavily that it was next to impossible to see properly, “Huh, a blinding trick. Whatever will I do-” the Phoenix comments before snapping her fingers, “Heismay! Time for footwork!” With that single warning, a new wall of blazing feathers formed behind her, firing forth at where the cultists were before Mokou’s sight was taken. Her answer to the blinding was simple: Scorched earth.

Sectonia herself was outraged at such hideous things before her. And as such summoned a field of holy swords underneath the cultists before getting in range for all of her auras to hit the cultists as she rained the area with dark lightning. Blazermate, having been partially saved by her raincoat item she had gained from the last time they fought horrors like this in that horrible tree, thought against summoning her strikers in this fight. As the pull effect didn’t last as long as the Exemplar thought it would thanks to her resist all medal, although there wasn’t much she could do about the combo mark. If they had weird debuffs and such she didn’t want those strikers attacking her! So all she really had was to heal and place a debuff on one of the cultists to clone 25% of the damage it took to the other one. She was close to uber from the previous fight though. Since Sectonia had moved up to be the primary focus more than she already was, she had to be closer to the fight than she wanted.

Alerted by Mokou’s call, Heismay whipped around to see a wall of fiery pinions advancing toward Oblivion’s Ingress. “Good grief.” The nimble eugief got moving, narrowly managing to avoid the Phoenix’s fusillade as scorching feathers and dark lightning bombarded the cultists’ position in an elemental deluge. The spellcasters’ efforts did a lot of damage to the Altar and left the weakened Cherub on its last legs, flailing its three arms as its distorted voice wailed in pain. Desperately it raised its scroll and attempted Face Your Confession on Mokou, inflicting Horror on her as it gained Dodge and a second Worship token.

Made of sterner stuff, the gleeful Exemplar withstood the onslaught, its arms raised even as burns, shocks, and poison ate away at its vast constitution. Finally, it was time for The Fall. A wad of shadowy tentacles dropped from the night sky, through the Highlands’ cloud veil to descend upon Blazermate with gruesome force, like a wrathful stomp from some outer god. It dealt massive damage and left her cratered in the ground. Uncanny orange light heralded the accumulation of one worrisome Worship token.

The heavy impact made Heismay flinch, but it also galvanized him into action. If the team lost its healer, everyone else would be in trouble. If the worst came to worst, they could contact Sandalphon for help, but the archangel had seemed to him to be oddly infirm today and he didn’t want to endanger her if he could avoid it. “I’ll draw its ire!” Heismay dashed forward and slashed at the Exemplar’s left arm, dodging a clumsy swipe in the process.

As the Altar began to work its Flesh Weaving to restore the Exemplar’s wounds, one more nasty surprise bore its foul fruit. The Altar of Ambition ritual activated to fill the Exemplar with a surge of eldritch energy, allowing it to act again. Fixing its sightless gaze on Heismay and Sectonia, it unveiled its Rapturous Beauty, implanting the blood-curdling Horror debuff and a Vulnerable token apiece. Heismay shivered as a deep fear, icier than any cold, slithered down his spine, but after a moment’s reeling he continued his assault.

Mokou narrows her eyes at the Cherub’s actions, feeling the mental strain it kept inflicting upon her. Yet even still, the immortal’s mind was a bastion in comparison, having seen horrors far beyond even these. Thus there was no hesitation as she held her arm out to the side… Abruptly catching the Frozen Flame orb as it rebounded back to her hand at long last. The Phoenix then used the momentum from the catch to spin around, throwing the ball at the Cherub, who naturally managed to weave to the side to dodge the projectile.

Only to get hit in the back as it bounced off of a nearby pillar, catching them at the tail end of their initial dodge, finishing the Cherub off with a burst of ice and fire. At the same time, Mokou turned her focus to the Altar that was trying to keep the Exemplar alive, snapping her fingers to send a stream of flame towards them. She could feel her current body beginning to burn out, which was certainly a problem. But that simply meant she’d have to wait a few moments to get back into the action once it was done and dusted.
Sectonia felt the eldritch evil affect her, and while she was still strong enough to not show it affecting her, she didn’t like it at all. Seeing as the Altar seemed to be healing everything, Sectonia adjusted her focus to that. She unleashed a combo of holy beams, first a round of radial beams at the Altar, then a blast of holy dragon’s breath as that ability had finally charged.

Blazermate meanwhile got out of the crater she had found herself in. ”OW, that hurt…” Blazermate said. She saw Sectonia attacking some kind of Altar, a bit confused, but noticed it was alive as her Scan told her it had a health bar and everything. ”Well, guess its time for my old strategies if they are going to be targeting me…” Blazermate said as she used the Ubercharge she had gathered to fire a Medaforce beam at the stationary Altar, her beam impacting at the same time as Sectonia’s holy breath beam. While Sectonia’s attack was pure damage, Blazermate’s Medaforce beam healed her for the damage it did, and it wasn’t a pushover attack either although it probably wasn’t as strong as Sectonia’s.

The pair’s combined efforts proved to be enough to annihilate the Altar, which shriveled away with a hideous shriek, and dispel the Altar of Ambition effect empowering the Exemplar. That left the cultist boss on its own at last. Lashing out at Heismay, it managed to land a clumsy smack, but thanks to the Vulnerable token left on him the eugief took double damage and went tumbling away with an agonized cry and at least one broken bone. Mokou’s flames barraged it the next moment, but in the midst of the inferno, the Exemplar finally spent its Worship tokens to unveil Exultation. All around the Seekers, the shadows wailed and danced, closing in on Mokou and Sectonia like a hundred crushing maws to deal comparable damage to The Fall. As if that wasn’t enough, when the shadows receded another Altar had appeared behind the Exemplar, which itself lost its Worship but gained Death Armor. Sectonia’s arcane intuition could perceive that the boss could now withstand an otherwise lethal hit.

Without delay, the Altar began to repair the Exemplar with Flesh Weaving.

Groaning, and not too far away from the perilous edge of the cliff, Heismay picked himself up and clutched his arm. His longsaber lay at his feet, but he hesitated to pick it up. “It…can summon more support?” The hermit wavered, his confidence breaking, as he saw the state everyone was in. “We…we should retreat!”

A pillar of light descended from the heavens as Sandalphon appeared, the holy light of her halo shining amidst the darkness even after the sky beam faded. Naturally the archangel had been listening in, so even if her allies forgot to call her, she would come to her help unbidden. She planted her gunstaff as she cast Angelic Wings. The ripples of holy water through the aetheric current healed everyone substantially, restoring their fighting ability, and boosted their strength by 15% of her own. “Stand and fight,” she commanded her team as she faced the abyss, unblinking. “Nihility shall not prevail.”

The Exemplar stretched wide its limbs as its nightmare light shone forth. Sandalphon found herself pulled forward, her aching body burned by acid, as the abomination marked her with Prelude.

Blazermate could dispel the DoT part of Prelude on Sandalphon, but not the rest of the debuff. Still, this was getting annoying. She was fully healed now though at least. ”So… Just blow up the big guy? If he can just summon everything over again…” Blazermate said, telling everyone how much health it had left. Well, Sectonia wanted this thing over and done with, and this thing was the only thing that still lived so perhaps that was the goal. Or she could just wipe everything out all at once. Blazermate kept on healing duty, having a charged projectile shield she used to deal damage to the Exemplar and slow it down as Sectonia blasted it with multiple rings of light and other hard hitting moves that could pierce on top of that that could hit the adds as well.

The Exultation was enough to put Mokou down, her body falling limp from the air and onto the ground with a thud before swiftly bursting into flame, reforming shortly after Sandalphon’s appearance, the Phoenix glaring at the Exemplar and its new Altar, “Summoning help too. Alright then, we focus on the big one then” she answered, rising slowly into the air as two flaming wings sprouted from her back as she put her entire being into her next attack.

Immortal "Fire Bird -Flying Phoenix-"

Suddenly, all hell broke loose from Mokou. If her previous attacks were a drizzle, then this new attack was a storm as a truly countless number of feathers and spheres formed in the sky before launching forth to bombard the entire area. While there were openings in the pattern, the Exemplar was too large and clumbering to truly take advantage of them, meaning that it would have to take the full brunt of Mokou’s self-immolating Spell Card.

Heismay joined in the onslaught and slashed the Exemplar with Lurking Nightblade as the Assassin, his magla reserves nearly empty. Sensing her imminent doom, Sandalphon reached into her bag of tricks for her most destructive ability: Headquarters Support Request, obtained from her fusion with Leanne. She highlighted the abomination’s position with a summoned laser pointer, and a moment later a cluster bomb dropped from the sky to pound the Exemplar with a chain explosion. The debilitating blasts hindered its attack, defense, elemental resistance, and status resistance, making the others’ all-out assault that much more effective.

Unfortunately, the Death Armor gained from its Exultation saved the Exemplar from a fatal blow, and the next moment another burst of Flesh Weaving from the nearly-dead Altar pulled it back from the brink. Now that its minion had two Worship tokens, the Exemplar showed its hand with Pillar of Sacrifice. The Altar perished in an instant deathblow as the Exemplar healed even more, gave itself Worship, and two Riposte tokens that would afford it a free counterattack apiece to whoever struck it next.

Reverting to normal, Heismay panted from exhaustion. “This thing won’t die!” He waved his sword to get the archangel’s attention. “Sandalphon! That mark above you, it’s going to crush you!”

Sandalphon understood what he meant and made an executive decision. She hurled a Frost Lock at the Exemplar to slow it down with an icy coating, then performed a quick scan of its vitals as she prepared to depart. “Withdrawing now. You’re on the final stretch. Finish the fight!” With that she warped back down to the stagecoach, preventing the Exemplar from killing her (and giving itself a second crucial Worship token) with The Fall.

Mokou grits her teeth at the Exemplar, just as her flames begin to burn bright blue. It was a mark of her own magic taking more of her body’s life force, but also a mark of an increased level of damage, “Fine then, let’s see you get back up from this” Mokou calls out as she was swiftly engulfed into a large ball of blue fire, barely wasting a moment before rocketing forth to slam into the Exemplar with a self destructive charge, a normally devastating attack that was buffed even further with Mokou’s cerulean flames.

While Blazermate couldn’t really help with the finishing blow, having spent much of her resources that did damage and instead could only heal and overheal, Sectonia could. Her big instant attacks had been used, but she still had some standard big hitting attacks to help Mokou finish this thing off with all of its buffs and allies helping it. Although what her attacks would be would just be what she had been doing previously, just more sword rains, but this time she’d throw some void globules at it to see if that would do anything with all the shields and stuff that stopped this thing from dying.

Heismay spearheaded Sectonia’s sword rain as the Assassin, plunging his Lurking Nightblade into the Exemplar from above the moment after Mokou’s azure explosion left it reeling, its front little more than scorched chunks. “This is the end!” He flipped off of the abhorrent thing, messily wrenching his blade free through the monster’s spine. Sectonia’s swords plunged into the wounds, deepening them just enough for the final void globule to detonate within the beast’s body and bisect it, ending its miserable existence for good.

As it howled and died, the Altar behind it disintegrated, and the dark cathedral itself seemed to groan and buckle. The tentacles reaching out from the void within, seared by Sectonia’s antlers but undeterred, shuddered and withdrew. A moment after they disappeared, Oblivion’s Ingress crumpled, shrinking back into the extraplanar netherworld from which it came.

Getting on the coach, Sectonia pulled out her new mirror and began to use it to pretty herself up. "This was one of the few things I missed. The spirit of Christmas comes through it seems." Sectonia said, having probably the happiest face on her that anyone had seen. She had missed having a mirror, and while the Avenger had some, having a hand mirror was something she really wanted.

"I just got this weird bottle of liquid that said "wear me". I got a feeling someone was trying to make fun of me or something." Blazermate said, having put on her gift as instructed in the giftbox. "I didn't know it was a White Elephant sorta thing. Just without the swapping." Blazermate said.

Not knowing what Blazermate was talking about, Sectonia only gave her a dismissive. "Yes thats nice dear." enraptured with straightening out and properly setting her antenna.

"Also what was with that cat thing? like... what was it?" Blazermate said, thinking about what had just happened.

"I do not know, and it got lucky I was in such a good mood to even humor it." Sectonia said, doing her eyelashes now.

"So uh... when do we take these off?" Blazermate asked, pulling at her christmas costume.

"When we make camp I assume. Or now, if your so bold." Sectonia said.

Layton made himself known in the cartage at this time, asking questions of Sandalphon. While he had been paling around during the christmas activities, Blazermate didn't think he'd actually come along. And he was galeeming too? Well, this wasn't the first time nor the last Blazermate would break free another Seeker. Seeing as Sectonia was busy and how she often did this, Blazermate studied Layton. He was... hm... He didn't look all that tough, like Sectonia or Ganondorf. That might be a problem if she asked one of them to deal with him.

Once they were at the next camp, Blazermate would free him. Doing it in the cramped cartage would be a bad idea.

Well, the Christmas ritual worked... somewhat. In front of the seekers was the creature responsible for the blizzard that blocked their way. An ugly thing, Sectonia thought, but seeing as the ritual of christmas was about bringing people together, she didn't attack outright. Instead just keeping it in her vision but giving it the same look she gave other filthy things.

"So... are we fighting this thing or what?" Blazermate said, seeing Sectonia eyeing the thing up floating near her head. "Perhaps, I would like to, but lets see what the others do." And much like the Christmas ritual, the others were trying to appease this thing instead of attack it. While she wouldn't touch that thing unless it was with her blade, thats what Antlers were for.

Summoning her Ice antlers who were at least resistant to cold, with a few hand motions to them she commanded them to pet the creature. Nothing appeased a beast more than getting petted from various angles. And if it became hostile, well, she was ready for that.

Roland knew an interesting situation when he heard it, as Eddie and Bruce made quite the commotion. Well... perhaps Roland could get more information from this group if those two started a fight. Or at least he could see what happened when people fought outside of the arenas here as the Heavenly Principles were something that would need to be stress tested. As Kim dealt with riling up Eddy, Roland went to fan the flames as it were. Moving over to a wall with the poster of the main dancer, he took it off the wall as he was cleaning and instead followed Bruce to his office and if what Kim had done worked, Eddy would be there any moment. As such, Roland put the poster on Bruce's door, showing that he was a fan of the girl Eddy hated. With the fires of fury stoked a bit more, or so Roland hoped, he went to sweeping out of the way Eddy would be coming, but close enough that he could hear or maybe even observe the possible fight between him and Bruce.

With all the work done, soon came the big reason many people liked christmas, the presents! While this was something Sectonia was interested in, having been one that wrapped a few of them, she already knew what some people got. That and Blazermate was much more interested in the whole gift thing than her, as Sectonia was more using the festival to relax, or at least as much as she could with it being cold out, being amused at seeing what the other seekers got. At least the ones she didn't know about already. That was until Sectonia got her own.

Seeing the gift wrapping, she noticed it was one of the ones Sandalphon had wrapped. The fact it was a hand mirror, something Sectonia herself had been looking for, that also had a bit of magic to it itself, was the perfect gift for her. Now she could keep her looks up and more accurate to what she wanted herself to look like to keep herself beautiful than relying on her Antlers and even when not gazing at herself in the mirror, it had some combat abilities as well. A very thoughtful gift.

While Sectonia found the festivities cute, as the stage was more for games and not singing or anything she just relaxed as she watched others try some games. With her size she'd probably be good at the juggling but she decided to let others that would be interested in games to be the ones to play them. Plus she was a bit busy touching herself up with her new hand mirror.

Blazermate found her gift was a bit small compared to everyone else. It was wrapped fairly nicely, being one of the ones Sectonia's antlers had wrapped. It looked like a crystal from the outside, but when unwrapped, Blazermate found...

A strange bottle. AT first Blazermate thought it was a food item, and thus a prank since she couldn't use them. but then she read the card on it and found it was some kind of oil/perfume that'd help her in general. It wasn't clear except 'make you stronger', so she shrugged and applied the sticky nectar to herself. At first she wondered how something sticky could even help her, but it didn't stay sticky for long and she found she was a tad bit faster. Not a whole lot, but she was a bit stronger. Considering it seemed to be in a perfume bottle, maybe someone was trying to subtly tell Blazermate she should be more lady-like? But who? Well, Sectonia would be the prime suspect, but she'd be much more up front about it knowing her.

When it came to festivity games, Blazermate gave her try at Flea Dodge. Being an agile small flyer, she had an easy time with this one as while eventually the fleas started piling up and the platforms kept shifting, around half the fleas would aim for her and the other half were trained to hit the platforms. Platforms Blazermate didn't need to ever touch letting her dodge fleas for a good 97 fleas before the giant flea, hyped up on flea brew, came barreling at a weird angle and managing to clip and knock Blazermate out of the air unto the ground.

When it came to the other two games, Blazermate wasn't really able to play Flea Bounce, as the idea was to bounce on the fleas which she wasn't very good at, and flea juggle was just hard even if she was fast. So she didn't do too well on those ones.

"If staying off the radar is the goal, thats one of my specialties." Roland said, as the problem of being found out by a tight knit group came up. Pulling out his mask, he said. "Some of you know what this does, some of you don't. For those that don't, I'm sorry but I can't explain it until later. I'll support you though if things go south." What Roland couldn't explain, as it was a more public area, was that his distortion blocking mask made everyone see him as a 'passerby', not giving him outright invisibility, but making him so unnoteworthy that even tight nit groups wouldn't really care to take a look at him as long as he didn't do anything to raise suspicion himself. This worked on even those with supernatural ways of seeing or perception. Maybe if someone had hyper perception, a level of perception that would let them see through the Gleeming of Galeem would they be able to bypass Roland's mask but that seemed to be exceptionally rare. Even then, he wouldn't be known as Roland but 'that guy' if spotted or attacking someone meaning he could just shift back into the shadows and be forgotten soon after. For those he explained all this to, they could see him as he was, Roland, and were immune to the distortion blocking properties of the mask but that was only Captain Falcon at the moment.

With his mask on, Roland made his way to the staff entrance and just walked right on in. He made his way to the janitor closet and grabbed a broom and as he moved through the area taking in the conversations going on back stage, he'd pretend to sweep. No one would pay him much mind at all as he used his own way of stealth very different from Kim's to get information and figuring out what his next step would be.
Christmas Village - Presents of Mind

For whatever reason, it took longer than Sandalphon expected for her to run out of steam and graciously withdraw from the snowball fights. Maybe Ace’s infectious positivity buoyed her up, or Tenna knew exactly how to make sure everyone had a great time, or the smiles and laughs of the playful children filled her soul with joyful energy. Technically speaking, the archangel had never experienced a youth of her own, but through these youngsters she managed to vicariously experience a little youthful wonderment. All good things had to come to an end, though, especially physical activities. When Sandalphon finally returned to the village’s workshop lodge, her extremities were numb from cold exposure despite her boots and gloves. It seemed like staying inside the workshop’s warm interior and finding some less exhausting way to make herself useful would be a smart move.

Naturally, the workshop was abuzz with activity as artisans toiled away in every room, be they cooks, brewmasters, toymakers, or clothiers. By now, only a few hours remained before the festivities officially began, so while a great deal of work had been done already, work on the remainder had reached a fever pitch. It was a bit overwhelming in fact, even for Sandalphon, so rather than try and insert herself anywhere else, she kept an eye out for any fellow Seekers whose endeavors might benefit from her help.

What she didn’t expect was that Sectonia would be one of the Seekers to help with presents. Although Sectonia was more interested in getting everything done than anything, and this was one of the few remaining jobs that could invoke some beauty once it was complete, she’d leave the other jobs for the other Seekers. ”Sandalphon,” Sectonia said courteously, overlooking the busy workshop.

”With all the hands at work here, what help would only a few extra be?” Sectonia said, rubbing her chin as she overlooked the busy workers, wondering just how much of an effect the Seekers could even have here. Sectonia’s Antlers could be a sizable increase to the workforce, but that would be about it.

Sandalphon met her gaze. “Even so, I’d like to be of whatever assistance I can.”

As the two began to get into the gift wrapping, a notable blue ball rolled onto the scene, somehow managing to keep a santa hat perched on their head as they bumped into Sandalphon’s leg. The ball, specifically Spheal, looked up at the angel and let out a happy “Sphea!” before rolling away to continue its exploration, just as Mokou herself walked into the workshop, already carrying a few fully wrapped presents, “Oh. You two are here. Looks like the whole festival is almost ready, just gotta handle the rest of these” she states, placing the gifts on a nearby table, “Just running some gifts around. Best to keep them all in one place so they don’t get misplaced.”

For a brief moment, the archangel’s pupils became delighted shining stars as she regarded the rotund, blissful creature at her feet. By the time she turned her attention to Mokou, though, they were back to normal. When the Phoenix mentioned her current task, Sandalphon glanced at the nearby table, laden with rolls of colorful wrapping paper, tape, scissors, labels, and bows. “I can help with that,” she ventured.

No sooner had Sandalphon seated herself at an empty spot at the table than her task began. She could eyeball gift dimensions and cut the perfect amount of wrapping paper with uncanny accuracy, and her long, delicate fingers moved with mechanical efficiency and precision, quickly and neatly enshrouding each item in paper. Once a gift was wrapped, a bow of a suitable color could be attached, and then the label with the intended recipient according to a ledger passed around by the workers. Sandalphon, naturally, memorized the list of gifts and recipients so she wouldn’t need to request the ledger again. This activity was just complicated enough to keep her mentally occupied without being difficult, although not so occupied that she couldn’t converse with the others. After a few moments, she asked, “Having a good time so far? This is quite the departure from our usual experience on the Midnight Walk.”

Sectonia, finding the process of wrapping gifts herself a bit too… mundane and simple, had summoned her full set of Antlers to help wrap gifts, bolstering the gift wrapping forces by 14 with them alone. After all, it was a queen’s job to delegate things that others could do and just observe, but much like one would expect from the beauty obsessed bee her summons worked to make perfectly wrapped gifts that had nary a flaw.

Since she could delegate, Sectonia was up for chatting as well. Once everything was working smoothly, she replied to Sandalphon’s question. ”A bit too much manual labor for my liking, but I was not expecting to celebrate Christmas on our little adventure here. Being the one to choose outfits and decorate the place has been fun, even if I hear the occasional comment of there being too many hearts or stars for Christmas when it comes to decorations.” By occasionally, she really meant 1 from one of the locals said under their breath, but when chatting gossip and other such things it was customary to embellish a bit.

”I wonder how a few of the other, less… festive members of our team are handling it. It seems like Ganondorf and Ramattra haven’t even heard of the holiday from their expressions. A few others haven’t as well, but those two feel like it might affect them more than say, Edward who is very matter of fact about things.” Sectonia said, starting a topic up of how the less good aligned seekers might see the holiday. While Sectonia wasn’t on the good spectrum either, she didn’t scoff at such a big holiday that tended to radiate beautiful light with many ways to design and make things gorgeous.

Sandalphon considered the fact that the wasp queen shared. “This holiday does not exist in my world to my knowledge, but superficially it has a great deal in common with Dragonyule, a winter festival where gift-giving and even red coats are commonplace.” She tilted her head slightly as she continued to work. “Now that I think about it, the commonalities are too conspicuous to overlook. I cannot help but wonder if there is some sort of connective tissue there.” Having not seen Ramattra or Ganondorf herself, she couldn’t vouch for either of their opinions, but hopefully this would be a chance for everyone to de-stress a little. Too much cortisol would only hinder the Seekers’ mission once they ultimately reached Moon Mountain.

”Perhaps it is just an underlying pin of reality.” Sectonia said, shrugging.

Seeing as this was a gossip session, Sectonia offered a bit of her own. ”I wonder, what do you two know of strong rituals or objects of power? The locals are very convinced that preparing for this holiday will clear the blizzard that freezes even ice. Besides this place, I feel I’ve found a few in this world already. One source of great divine power was from one of the Guardians sure, but another was from some land of candy. Which you wouldn’t expect an artifact of such profound darkness and power to be frozen in caramel. So if you ever wonder why I look in the strangest of places, from experience I've found that unassuming places can still hold things of great power in this world.” Secontia said, mentioning her Chaos Heart powers. Even she knew there was more to be tapped into, somehow, even as she had already tapped into its power twice.

That was a broad question, so despite her wealth of knowledge Sandalphon found it somewhat difficult to come up with a suitable answer. After a few moments of fastidious measurement and snipping, though, she came up with her approach. “Most of the rituals I’m familiar with are for the suppression and banishment of demons,” she explained, thinking back to her time with the Apostles. “As for objects of power, there are many relics prized by the Ilian Church, but in all of Grastaea there are few objects more precious than Pactstones. The embodiment of trust and unity between humans and dragons. Pure, crystalized magic.”

“I’ve got a good grasp on rituals myself, though I didn’t bother checking out the blizzard. Admittedly, I was more interested in seeing if this festival could do the job of clearing it” Mokou comments as she finishes wrapping another gift and places it on a quickly growing pile next to her, “Not confident enough to say what that blizzard is sourced from though. I’d wager a guess that it’s from an object inside that’s fueling its own power. If the festival doesn’t end up working, I’ll just burn my way through it.”

”Or some creature. It could be either.” Sectonia said. ”As for relics of popstar, to be honest, there are far too many. I suppose the most well known is the Star Rod which can let one damage even invincible darkness, but I am sure many others exist with how many stories there are of the hero of the lower world saving popstar.” Sectonia said. ”If you were confronted with a powerful relic that would enhance your powers without corrupting you, no matter its source of power, would you take it? Or do you have limits on what types of power you’d stay away from?” Sectonia asked, stirring a bit more chatter on the subject. ”For me, as long as it is elegant and does not have too much of a downside I am not picky. Light or dark, I will use both.”

A shadow of an amused smile passed over Sandalphon’s face as her pupils became inverted triangles. “I’ve heard it said that all power corrupts, you know.” She paused in her wrapping, holding a fancy silver bow up to the light to see how it sparkled and glimmered. “I would think myself…highly selective. Even for angels, there are powers that should not be trifled with. Especially for angels, in fact.”

She set the bow aside and selected a forest green one to attach to the gift she was wrapping. This one seemed to be addressed to Ramattra, so she could not help but take note of its contents, which intrigued her. “Regardless. Power isn’t everything. In my world, there are plenty of dragons, demons, and extradimensional entities with unbelievable power. Yet time and time again, heroes have triumphed over them all. In the wake of such events, I can only imagine that these heroes say such things as…’the strongest power of all is the bonds we’ve forged between us’.”

”That is easily explained, their combined power surpassed that individual’s power.” Sectonia said, pointing at her Antlers working in groups to get presents done, showing teamwork being done to get a task complete. ”Those with a strong unified vision can do much more than anything they can do alone. But it doesn’t hurt to take power others waste either.”

“Certainly true. Though some powers are better left alone” Mokou says with a sigh, “But trust is certainly a strength on its own. Admittedly, back in my world disputes were regularly handled in one on one affairs, so you didn’t get much in terms of ‘working together’.”

The three continued to chat as they worked at their task. While most of the topics stayed fairly surface-level thanks to their differences in perspective and/or social ability, and they sometimes lapsed into comfortable silence, the trio also touched upon somewhat deeper topics here and there. In the end, they managed to feel a little less like coworkers or allies of convenience, and more like comrades. All the while, anticipation for the coming festivities slowly built. The hours went by quickly, and at their end Sectonia, Mokou and Sandalphon had accumulated a pile of presents that the Antlers could then haul out to deposit under the village’s Christmas tree.
