> Felice was still kind of scared though...and hearing the uncertain, and even a little shaky tones of some of the others voice didn't do much to really improve that feeling. But Felice still walked up to the front of the group, and summoned her weapon, saying. "I guess I'll lead the way then...Being the navigator and all with my powers. I'll make sure to be on guard for anything trying to get close...or for the Warlock." Felice told them. Then she took a breath and took a step towards where she thought she was starting to pick up the Warlock's aura. You detected a massive magical signature in the direction of the grey wall, or more specifically, under it. You quickly shared your findings with the others. "That's gotta be where the Warlock's hiding," Dora pondered. > "We.. uh we should keep moving, walk and talk. Standing in one place for too long might not be the best idea, heh sure you can fill us in on what to expect right Dora?" Goddamn why was her voice shaking so much, Ancia inhaled again trying to keep her nerves steady. "It may be hard to understand, but I'll try to explain what I can. Let's head there for now." > "When you say familiar," Markus asked, "Do you mean to say that the creatures here are extensions of the Warlock's mind?" Dora responded as you were crossing the omenous desert: "I haven't studied them exactly, but from my experience I can pretty much confirm it. They always seem to reflect the world and its master in some way, being its attendants and guardians. If you expect to simply waltz through this world unharmed, you would be dead wrong. > He glanced around for a moment, then looked to Dora, "What kind of creatures inhabit this place? Is there any way you can show me, or describe it well enough for me to make us look like that?" His intention was simply to have the element of surprise to their attack by using his illusions. He also thought that Felice would be able to help them avoid anything getting too close, as well as find their way to the warlock with little to no issue. "To be honest, I don't know. It is always different for each Lair what the world looks like or what kind of Familiars prowl there. We just have to hope for the best in that regard." However, suddenly her eyes grew sharp, and yellow ribbons burst from her hands like fireworks, taking on the form of sleek crossbows. You now saw in the distance strange monsters that resembled the scorpions of the human world in body shape, but with an abnormal appearance: their exteriors were composed of riot shields of various sizes, they had a pair of flash-lights on the fronts of their low torsos, their pincers were made of a mass of combat knifes, and their tails ended with the blade of a long-sword. Between the cracks of their bodies you could see their innards consisted of guns and rifles of different types. They were as large as a motorcycle, and seemed to originate from the grey wall, which you now realized seemed to be circling something. However, it didn't take long for them to notice you, and about twenty of them were coming closer, their legs made of bladed implements skittering them closer to your position with an unnaturally swift pace. "Everyone, get ready." Mimi had her crossbows at the ready while Tomoyo transformed. "These guys are packing heat."
> I was going to wait until Hangedman, but should I go ahead and post? If you want to then go ahead.
> Something I thought of, can multiple weapons be summoned at once? Like can Ancia summon her spear, do whatever with it, then summon another while the original is still in existence? Sure. Multiple weapons can also be magically manipulated at once.
> "I have a concern," Markus spoke up, brushing his designer shirt off unnecessarily. "If they were affected by the Warlock, won't they keep trying to kill themselves?" - > The red-head jumped up shook herself from head to toe. Grinning at the others, she said: "Whew, that was a rush! Looks like I still need to get used to moving at intense speeds. I'll make note of that later. So, what do we do next? I assume we go after the real thing now, hm? And I have to agree with Markus here. Why wouldn't they try this again?" Dora nodded. "We stopped them for now, but they will try again. That is why we must find the Warlock and put an end to the curse." > "I...I got it. C'mon." She said as she started to lead them to where the sound was coming from. The closer Felice got to where the lair entrance was, the worse the sound became as more and more horrible noises were added to the the song that was coming from the entrance to the lair. Felice could start to feel something else...A sense of dread and fear. A sense that if anything in the lair got her, it would enjoy seeing her in pain, enjoy seeing her die a slow and agonizing death. A sense that inside was a creature of pure evil... It got so bad that at one point she had to stop completely. She covered her face with her hands and tried to take deep breaths. And that's when the sound of the lair's energy quieted, being drowned out by the sounds of the energy of those around her, her friends. Felice looked up at them and smiled a little. She wasn't alone in this, her friends would be by her side. With a nod to herself she continued on. > > Finally she lead them through some alley ways and stopped when she saw it. The entrance to the Warlock's lair. It looked kind of like a black hole, or maybe a black Whirlpool, slowly rotating and it felt like if you stood to close, it would suck you right in... "This is it. The entrance to the lair...I think the Warlock is somewhere inside..." Felice told the group. "It's right here," Dora confirmed by looking at her Soul Gem, and opened her other hand towards the invisible entrance. Her Soul Gem shone brilliantly, and the entrance was suddenly visible to everyone, a black vortex that had some kind of black smoke-like matter seeping out of it. It gave a cold chill down your spines as it was approached. The vortex seemed to distort the space around it, reflecting and refracting light in impossible ways. "It could have taken a while to find this one. Good work Felice," the blonde girl said, and her clothes changed into ones more fitting to fight in. "This is your last chance to retreat," she said to the other Magic Knights around her. "Because once you are inside, there is no escape until the master of the Lair has been destroyed." "I'm not backing out," Sofia said, and also transformed. "I'm not going to abandon my friends when they need me the most!" "Sofia...thank you." Dora said, and jumped into the portal. You followed her, and plunged into the great unknown. --- You entered a world of pure, unfiltered madness. The sky was green and filled with yellow clouds, while a square sun was shining down in a sickish hue of blue. Some of the red clouds were moving vertically in addition to horizontal movement, and you could barely see a corner in the skyline, hinting that the world was inside a cube of some sort. You first mistook the place you landed on to be a sandy desert, but soon realized the desert was not made of sand, but bullet casings. A nearby river flowed with gold coins instead of water, which seemed to lead to a grey wall of some kind beyond the desert. The mountain range to the left of you, beyond the horizon, was entirely covered in barb wire. Some of the landscape was alien and unwelcoming, like straight out of a sci-fi horror game: there were towers of futuristic design scattered here and there, their purposes unknown. There were also craters and green pools of living sludge. It was a wasteland of insanity, and one that would surely cause nausea in the weak-willed. "Wow," you could hear Sofia whisper as she looked on, her hand covering her mouth. "I've never seen anything like it." "Caution my friends," Dora said, and took a defensive pose. "We are now in enemy territory, and could be ambushed at any point. Ready yourselves for any familiars we might encounter while on our way to the Warlock."
> so how would tracking the lair go? What does a Lair even look like? Is it like a building or something? Also since Felice is going to be leading everyone to where the warlock is, would that mean Felice's post would be the first to see the warlock? If so, what would this warlock look like? > If Felice uses her powers to search for the entrance, it will look like a swirling portal that seeps magical energy out of it. This will be the only thing you can currently find.
> Really? All of my subs are still there... Yeah, forgot to edit that post after I checked they were going to return.
Subscriptions got erased, so here's a find-bump.
You rushed forth and used your magical powers with good results. Markus used the Arcana of Intangibility to great effect, turning three victims ethereal and thus saving them from the train that would have crushed them. He felt a couple of small drains to the brightness of his Soul Gem by using this power on others, however..
Ancia transformed into a wolf form, and managed to rescue two victims by quickly sprinting to them and grabbing them with her strong teeth, throwing them away from the danger. She felt a drain smaller than she expected, and realized the most mass conversion she had to do was related to the fur and muscle mass of the wolf form.
Ryan, using a clever move, successfully controlled his dulled kamas and bound two victims down, ensuring they wouldn't harm themselves.
Tracy was the most successful of the fledgling Magic Knights; using her heightened agility, she managed to barely rescue four victims before the train arrived, the last one inches away from being crushed into a red pulp.

Dora shot her crossbow at the feet of one of the victims, and the bolt burst as a mass of yellow ribbons that coiled around the old man faster than the eye can blink, and bound him to the ground. Sofia panicked as she was running for the last victim, and tripped. Dora however seemed to expect it, and shot her other crossbow at the last victim, ensuring everyone was saved. The train let out smoke as it arrived, and the Magic Knights turned back to normal before the train cars opened up.
While the people started to gather around the saved citizens and a small commotion was brewing up, you decided to leave the scene and avoid the law enforcement that would surely soon come to investigate the strange incident.

"Ow...well, that went bad," Sofia said you went to a hidden corner of the train station, holding her rear. "Sorry, Dora. I kind of lost my cool back there."
The blonde girl smiled. "That's fine, you're still learning. The important thing is that we saved them all."
"So, what was with them? They seemed to be brainwashed," Sofia said as she scratched her head. "They also had some kind of tattoo on their necks."

Dora turned around, and frowned. "They were victims of a Warlock's Bite: once marked with one, a curse of despair overcomes you, and it forces you to commit suicide. Since this Warlock managed to curse so many people at once, it means the monster's Lair must be close. We'll have to search the area."

"Maybe we are." Felice told her, "But if we are, then there is at least some comfort in knowing one another." Felice blinked when she said what her power was. "So, did you listen in on us or is that your power? Knowing things...or maybe you can sense things as well..." Felice suggested. "Of course, You shouldn't really have a power since you didn't make a contract or a wish, or so Qubus said. But maybe you made a contract with someone else...or maybe you didn't need anyone to awaken the power in you."

The black-haired girl's eyes wandered towards another table, like she was reminiscing. "Qubus is not entirely incorrect. In a sense, I have not made a contract with it. And yet here I am, a Magic Knight still holding onto her hope."

onenote said Felice suggested resting her head on her hand. "I mean, maybe that's not it but I'm trying to work with the info I got. As far as I can tell, you're at least neutral to us, not working against us at the moment. I would love to get some actually info from you other then some very poetic distractions."
But as you say this you hear something. Its a short sound, barely lasting a few seconds...but it was an unnatural sound. The only thing you can akin it to is the scrapping of nails on a chalkboard, and even that didn't do the sound justice. You got a feeling that you needed to catch up to the others now. "S-Sorry..." You say, standing up, "My endless stream of questions will have to wait for later!"

"There are things in this world you shouldn't seek to know so hastily," Julia said as you were starting to leave. "Unless you care little for your sanity."

onenote said Felice give her a wave before running off to find her friends. She saved time by jumping over rooftops, which was pretty easy for her to do with her new magical abilities. By the time she saw the train station, she could see that the train has pulled in and she began to look for the others there.

You found the others walking around the train station, keeping a bit of distance from the train tracks where people were bustling. Sofia greeted you. "Hi Felice. So, did Julia try to creep you out?" She asked, curious. Dora also came, filled you in on what happened there, and asked you to join their search for the entrance to the Warlock's Lair.

"Their malicious energies seep through these portal-like doors. It must be around here somewhere," she said.

By the context I assumed that the train would arrive very soon, basically at the end of each of our posts.

Yes.

So I'm typing up my post now and I notice that there's one last person standing on the tracks. Since Felice is already in her magical knight form, shes running at full speed to the train station. Would Felice feasibly be able to save the last person or should I let someone else do it?

It's currently impossible for Felice to make it to the train station in time to rescue any of them.

EDIT: please leave second-person narration to a minimum in future posts, onenote. That part could have easily been written in third-person. Also, site's going down this weekend, so don't forget the docs, everyone.

He glanced about at the others, standing up to follow Sofia.

Sophia was eager to get a move on, which didn't seem to be a bad idea. Ancia nodded and stood up from the table, "If Julia keeps out of our business then I say we leave her alone, the less involved she's with us the better. Besides we got a job to do, come on let's go."

He followed the group, but spoke up after Ancia, leaning over her shoulder as they walked. "She's not keeping out of our business though, is she? Nobody in the cafeteria but us and her, obviously she was stalking us. I think we should keep an eye out in case she follows us, I don't like it. Can't one of you see people's energy or something?" he wasn't sure which it was, but it would be a useful skill for identifying a tail.

Damiann47 said
"She hasn't made a move yet other then watching us, she's staying well enough away that I don't think we should do anything with her. But I do agree that we can't trust her and that we need to keep watch. Oh and I can't see energy." Ancia nudged towards Felice, "Felice has the powers, I can change shapes and modify my weapon easily."

onenote said
"That is true that I can see the energy, or aura's of people. But I won't be using that power for a bit. I want to go talk to her." Felice told the group, and added before anyone can say anything, "I'm curious about her, what can I say? I think I'll be fine by myself if the rest of you want to go on. Besides, I can track you guys down easily enough I believe, and Dora mentioned the train station so I have that to work with if my powers aren't enough." Felice put her hand over her soul gem, which was attached to a bracer on her wrist. She focused and soon her clothes changed, signifying her transition into magical knight mode. "There, I'm ready for her in case she does anything. Anyways, I'll catch up with you guys soon."

"Alright, but don't take too long," Sofia said as she stepped out. "Marie, are you coming?" She asked the demure girl.

"I think I'll be going home now. There's a lot of homework for tomorrow. But I look forward to hearing about your adventures."

Marie then left the school, while Sofia and the rest started to head towards the train station.

With that, Felice went over to the stained table, sitting down across from her. "Hello there." She started with a simple smile. "We met yesterday but I don't think you caught my name even though you told me yours. I'm Felice. Felice Mayer. I guess you already can tell by my sudden outfit change that I made the contract...So how are you today?" Felice asked, deciding to change tactics, by not getting down to business so quickly. As she did ask that Felice decided to take a moment to examine Julia's aura. 'It's...purple haze? No...' Felice thought to herself. 'It's more like static...like tv static. Purple tv static. I can almost hear the white noise just looking at it...Is this her normal aura? Not that I know if aura's can change, I'm not exactly an expert yet. That would be interesting though, to see how they changed over time if they even did...' Felice realized that she was starting to drift off again and turned her attention back to Julia. "I won't bother you long, but I thought it might be nice to talk for a minute. What do you say?"

Julia didn't react at all when you sat at the table or even spoke to her. She simply looked at you with her purple eyes, with no hint of emotion.

"I never told you my name," she said after a moment of silence. She looked aside. "But does it really matter? We are as mayflies, after all: a blaze of fire, glorious to behold, but ultimately ash and cinders in the end, and nothing more."

She flipped her hair, and took a look at you. You felt like she was measuring you with her eyes.

"You have yet to properly learn how to use that Attunement of yours. You need to master it...you need to become stronger. All of you."

She was still wearing the school jersey to hide her body, and planned to workout more after the Warlock hunt. "So, how many of you guys have started messing around with your powers already?" she asked to the group as a whole.

"I managed to fix a broken clock with my Restoration powers," Sofia said while you were on your way to meet up with Dora. "I'll have to train more since it did tire me out a bit, but I'm sure there won't be a lot of need for it, since we're all gnarly warriors of justice and all."

You arrived at the train station. "Hello," you heard Dora greet you as she waved at your group. "I haven't found the entrance yet, but it should be around here somewhere, keep looking and see if-oh no."

She stopped, and quickly pointed at a line of twelve people, all of them standing right before the train tracks. All of them have removed their shoes, and had strange markings on their necks. They seemed to be in a daze of some sort.
You heard a train whistle blaring out, which meant one was going to arrive very soon.

"They're going to jump!" Sofia exclaimed, and grabbed a hold of her Soul Gem. "Everybody, try to grab them-"

"There's no time! Use your magic!" Dora said as she was already transformed into her Magic Knight uniform and charging at the line of zombie-like people, crossbows in hand.
