Mac and Cheese

“Hold the phone.” Cheese stopped abruptly. “Didn’t you say that the Heartless were down this way?” She asked Judah.

Mac halted a little bit ahead of her with his attention mostly focussed on his phone. He tapped the screen almost in time to the droplets of rain rolling off his umbrella.

“I’m sure we’ll be fine.” He sent off the little message, just a status update to those on The Ruler of the Sea. “After all we’ve held our own against worse…well we survived at least.”

“Not with your leg like that.” Cheese grumbled and moved towards him “At least let me heal it so you’re not as useless as you were last time.”

“I said I’m fine!” Mac snapped. His injured leg had been roughly bandaged with what remained of that trouser leg. “I can take care myself y’know, don’t need you around constantly saving my arse.”

Cheese simply scoffed. Hopefully they weren't too far from Lucy's.

“Well…” Berry considered Roy’s question for a moment. “I would very much like to bring everyone back as soon as possible; safety in numbers and means that the Grit can’t use the soul gems.”

Berry breathed. Fear was pooling in her stomach, coiling like a snake around her in the darkness. She gripped the bridge of her nose and then looked up at Roy.

“Currently I feel the best course of action is to leave everyone here as they are so at least we know that they’re safe. Meanwhile, Roy if I may ask that you go hunt for whoever or whatever our intruder is.”
A number of prods and presses brought the map to focus in on the extra dot.

“It’s somewhere down one of the corridors…I think.” Again the completeness of the map she held left a number of rooms and hallways incomplete or even non-existent, so she simply pointed vaguely to the Ballrooms main doorway. “If we can secure the parameter, as they say, we can then gain a foothold and ‘drive off those filthy scallywags’ as Sargent Barnsley is fond of saying.” She chuckled hesitantly.
Berry was a big fan of radio dramas.

“With that said I suppose the rest of us had better stick together. Don’t suppose anyone saw which way Vincent ran off to?” Berry was already fiddling with the map as she asked. “Goodness I do hope he’s okay…the other dot is getting very close to…him.” Berry’s voice dropped off into a petrified silence.

“Good heavens it’s right on top of him!”

Mac and Cheese

This London was different than the one Cheese and Mac were familiar with. For thing it was a lot shorted in comparison made up of squat, squalid buildings of brick and mortar that jostled each other for what little space there was available in the narrow streets. The city sounded different too; less engine noises and taxis rolling down tarmac and more general hustle and bustle of humans only occasionally punctuated by the roar of a van making deliveries.

Stepping out of the empty side street both Mac and Cheese came to the conclusion that they had no idea where they were. Shops lined the main road they had stepped onto already very busy with people going about their afternoon business.

“You two stay close to me.” Cheese ushered them towards her. “I can make the three of us less noticeable. Not invisible mind but at least we won’t stick out so much.”

There was a slight harness to her tone still from earlier when Mai had thanked her; as a Fairy the very idea that he actions could be repaid or acknowledged by simple words was something about humanity as a whole that infuriated her. Before they had left the ship Cheese had managed to grab a change of clothes consisting of an itchy green dress with a jacket and tights so she looked almost part of the crowd before them.

“So that’s how you and James get out of toilet duty.” Mac muttered.

Mac too had managed to grab some clothes and now wore plain brown trousers and a red jumper over a shirt and tie. Overall he felt as if he were either going for an interview or playing a part in a very old film. Sadly, nothing could’ve been done to change how his head looked, neither he nor Cheese had been surprised when the ships magicians had failed to alter or undo the Goblin Kings spell, which was part of the reason for Cheese using her own magic instead.

“So then, where do we head?” Mac asked aloud as he glanced at the fruit stall beside them. “Any ideas V2?”

Okay so I think the effect of the lucky charm is okay but may change 'prevents critical hits' to just making them less likely.
