The XCOM initiative was founded as a multinational response to any threat that went beyond the jurisdiction of a single nation and needed the flexibility to operate where they were needed, when they were needed. A base of operations was established in every continent on Earth, with the central command located somewhere in the Sahara Desert away from major population centers. The personnel selected for the foundation are among the best in the fields, living their daily lives waiting for the call to arms while a skeleton crew mans each base. The threat could have been zombies, demons, ghosts, or otherwise and it would be fall to XCOM to put up the defense. These possibilities however were very unlikely but the threat of an extra-terrestrial invasion was unlikely as well but more realistic.
The first strike by the aliens came without warning and without mercy, striking the heart of a heavily populated European city. Local police were almost immediately overwhelmed and unprepared for such an attack. XCOM forces were scrambled and the call was made world-wide, the council of nations had approved the XCOM project. XCOM suffered a near defeat in their first battle, the unknown enemy was nothing they could have prepared for but the war had begun. Within one week, the system of XCOM bases came online and personnel staffed from all over the world. The best of the best to save humanity from the brink of destruction. You are one of the soldiers recruited for XCOM due to your performance record and past missions successes. Humanity is not about to take this lying down.
The highest ranked officer in XCOM called 'The Commander' heads the entire project from XCOM's central base in Europe. Additional notable figures are Doctor Vahlen, the Research Department Head across all XCOM facilities, and Doctor Shen, the Engineering Department Head across XCOM facilities. The survivors from the first battle merged into one squad called the 'Grim Crows' yet are in need of an additional squad member.
The character you play as will be one of eight squad members(each squad has a code-name i.e. 'Hell-Cats') and will have a specialization within that squad based around classes in the video-game XCOM: Enemy within including a few variants I will design myself. Threats other than aliens, such as EXALT, will appear throughout the RP that will also require XCOM's attention. The nature of the game itself is very harsh on poor decisions and that will be reflected in the RP. If you go Rambo trying to take-down a entire squad of aliens you are most likely going to die. All that will mean is that particular character is now dead and will appear on the 'Memorial Wall' and you will need to make a new character to continue. Unlike in the game, There will be two to three squads sent on each mission. That means character interaction is very possible, especially if two people are in the same base, and means that there will be NPC squads as well. The template for a character will look something like this:
Name: Age: (21 or above) Nationality: Base of Operations: (Any of the seven Continents) Bio: (Make sure to describe why you were selected by XCOM) Appearance: (Images preferred but feel free to write one out) Class: (Will Determine your role within the squad, for example Heavies will handle larger guns and explosives) Squad: (Names follow the rule, adjective + animal like Demon Dogs or Steel Vipers) Rank: (Squaddie-1st rank to start but this will change the more you accomplish) Utility Skills/Strengths: (Any skills unrelated to your class that can be helpful in combat) Personal Skills: (Any specific skills that don't necessarily have an application in combat) Weaknesses: (Any flaws to your character that might affect an important situation)
As I've said above, You will be one of XCOM's elite soliders defending the Earth from the alien menace. Each player will be part of their own squad and stationed in one of the continental bases. I really hope this gets enough interest and I'll definitely add more later.
Personality: Rath tends to think of himself as a self-proclaimed comedian and is often prone to sarcasm which he uses to mask his real intentions or thoughts. He is prone to deception upon first meeting someone and getting him to speak truthfully is like pulling teeth. Exceptionally clever, Rath is more likely to try and talk his way out of a bad situation rather than risk a physical confrontation. Despite that, There is no hesitation when the situation goes south and he is always thinking of ways to get the upper hand. Nothing is worth doing for Rath if there is nothing to gain, however in matters of life and death he will intervene. Unlike many of his hot-headed kin, Rath is cool-headed and rational with a loose sense of loyalty. A turbulent love life has left him with commitment and trust issues. It is not difficult to find him smoking during any time of the day and does so more out of habit than anything else.
Background/Bio: Rath would tell you that he is the ninth son of some noble house or the reincarnation of the god of war but of course it is all lies. He never really knew his parents as they were dead soon after he was born though they were very poor from what others have told him. He was a little criminal if he were to be honest growing up. Besides stealing and setting a few, mostly harmless fires, He was very fond of manipulating others into doing what he wanted often just for personal enjoyment. That being said he didn't have any friends and was often very lonely despite appearing otherwise. Another kid from the slums of Ris-Volun, Novella, was the only person who knew the true Rath. She was just as devious as he was and together they became quite the little menace. They would dream on starry nights of becoming one of the heroic Paragon, and ultimately laugh at the absurdity of it. Novella every year however seemed more set on the idea and as soon as they were old enough, she dragged him pretty much against his will to go with her to the open application event held once every year where anyone can come take a test to see if they are worthy of studying to become a Paragon. He was put through the most difficult physical and mental tests of his life, his body was ready to quiet and his mind exhausted yet together they passed. This didn't stop him from being a trouble-maker and Novella slowly began to adopt the mentality of a true paragon. Eventually, she had changed so much they began to argue a lot over pretty much everything and stopped talking all together. Rath continued his training and ultimately became a Paragon, a symbol of true justice and virtue despite being none of it. Afterwards, he distance himself from the order entirely and took interest in the forbidden kingdom of Altamea, where he spends most of his time looking for answers.
𝓜𝓘𝓒𝓗𝓘 𝓝𝓞 𝓢𝓔𝓚𝓐𝓘 Alrathi was once a thriving world with a vast, diverse assortment of terrains and people who inhabited them. Peace often changed much like the seasons as Kingdoms rose and fell, a culture of bloodshed created by an endless cycle. Civilization across the entire land was but a fledgling when the first un-dead rose in the mystical kingdom of Altamea, a land known for magical break-throughs. Legend says that the old king, fearful of his own death, made a pact with a very powerful demon becoming the first Lich-King. No records exists of his reign before he made the decision. Corrupted by the power bestowed upon him, he waged an endless war to supply his un-dead army known as the 'Silent War' due to the eradication of entire civilizations. Kingdom after kingdom fell under his terror, not even the mighty dragons could turn the tide as millions perished. At last, as every race banded together in the last city of Ris-Volun, an enormous city developed as a fortress, waiting for this apocalypse to take them, a band of heroes emerged from the darkness. These heroes blessed by the gods bonded with ancient dragons to stem the inevitable. Their greatest champion, Cisna, sacrificed herself to end the Lich-King's life at his throne in Altamea. The demon that had been pulling the strings revealed himself at this time nearly wiping out the band of heroes. At their finals moments, the gods finally intervened banishing the demon into the void. An academy was founded years later in honor of those heroes, training magic and the art of handling dragons and familiars to prospective youths. It was the intention of the founders that these students would one day save Alrathi from another apocalypse and defend her from evil. These individuals became known as 'Paragons' and it became their duty to explore dangerous new lands and protect the people from monstrous threats. Instead of reclaiming their lost territory, the remaining people of Alrathi expanded their haven of Ris-Volun more and more as the outside word had turned harsh populated by monsters in their wake. A thousand years have past since the Lich-King's defeat, and in that time the races of Alrathi mustered the courage to form new Kingdoms driven by the over-population of Ris-Volun however the lands outside the grand city's walls remain quite dangerous and unexplored. The now ancient kingdom of Altamea remains untouched by the new expansion efforts, due to equal parts superstition and very real dangers. However just as civilization is once again gaining a foot-hold, an old evil is waiting in the shadows as the new kingdoms of Alrathi return to their old ways of war...

Hello everyone! This is my first time joining a forum dedicated to one of my favorite hobbies and I'm eager to join in all kinds of adventures! I am college student studying Digital Forensics with a passion for writing and reading in my spare time. My ambition and dream is to one day publish a novel. My first experience in role-playing was on IMVU when I was going through a hard time. After that, I spent the last few years role-playing almost exclusively with my one friend creating our own little universe of sorts that I'm quite proud of. The last time I tried role-playing online was at the forums on armorgames.com under the same name and other aliases. I have quite a varied taste when it comes to stories so I tend to do a little bit of everything. My only real preference in a role-play is I like to have a detailed and elaborate story line and strong character development. Besides role-playing, I really enjoying playing video-games and watching anime as it gives me sparks of inspiration most of the time. I have been trying to increase the amount of reading I do so I would love some suggestions for fiction novels! I played a lot of soccer before college and still love it to this day. I am a huge sci-fi fan and pretty much grew up with star wars. I once purchased an entire album of orchestral music by accident but don't regret it. I'm looking forward to creating worlds for you all to enjoy!
