Reylan

Reylan left the meeting with mixed feelings. This was more or less what he wanted but something just didn't sit right with him. The way he viewed it, the council as it was could be manipulated into giving one guild favor over the entire player-base. Time would be the only way to tell if this loose alliance would serve its intended purpose or be abused by guilds looking for power.

Everyone had just left the meeting and were going their separate ways, likely to enjoy the festival. Alisea left him as well stating something about an important matter to attend to. His eyes were filled with green names passing by as he tried to navigate the crowd to reach Kyo. That was when something caught his eye moving towards him...a red name plate. They seemed to navigate the crowd with ease, passing-by everyone with little to no interest. A long black over-coat covered most of his body. The indiviual stopped right in front of Reylan with a look that sent a chill down his spine. This was not like the skull-mask girl last night.

"I must thank you for your strong opposition to this so-called 'council'." What might be called a smile formed at the corners of the stranger's lips, but it felt more intimidating than that.

Reylan looked up at person, who seemed to wear his red tag like a badge of honor "I am not opposed to the council, I just don't want it abused." He stated strongly, meanwhile wondering why this red-player approached him. "Now, excuse me." Reylan began to walk past when the guy grabbed his arm, tightly.

"Now, now Reylan. Our little conversation has just started. I've been dying to meet with you for so long! I gotta say I'm your biggest fan!" His voice expressed excitement but with clear darker undertones.

Was he really trying this here? With all of the guilds leaving this area? Now that Reylan looked around, the place was now filled with a dense crowd. His free hand shook ash as grabbed the arm of his so-called 'fan' and remove it "Let me go now. I have plans with my guild." He stated firmly, ready to call for help if this weirdo didn't oblige.

After yanking his arm a bit, the stranger let go of him clearly expressing disappointment "Oh I get it, we'll meet up later then?" His smile persisted as he took something from his inventory and gave it to Reylan "I'll leave, but please take this! I wrote it just for you!" The item was a single letter in an envelope, that Reylan hesitantly took. The moment it was in Reylan's possession, the stranger disappeared into the crowd.

Thoroughly creeped out, Reylan at last made his way over to Kyo with the letter in his hand "Who was that?" Kyo asked with concern written over her face. Reylan looked back into the crowd "I don't know but I have a feeling I will see him again." Against his better judgement, he decided to open the letter to look inside. Inside was a simple piece of parchment with words written sloppily on it....and a ring with paint on it. His chest tightened as he lifted the ring out of the envelope, his eyes widening fully as his worst fears came true. It was one of the original guild rings Alisea had made and he painted. His hand now shaking, he reached in the envelope and took out the letter:

"Karma made a great play-thing. It turns out a healer can't really do much without his party. I hope we can play next!"

It took a few moment to realize it and suddenly the words crushed his heart. As quickly as he could, he sent a message through the new council chat while his mind writhed in both grief and anger "There's a bastard named Valentine in Genesis City right now. He murdered one of my guild. He needs to be captured." The message was sent without a second thought. He grabbed Kyo's hand and began running "Mister Reylan? O-ow, you're pulling too hard! Where are we going?" She asked, her teeth gritted due to the pain. Reylan stopped upon realizing just what he was doing "I...I'm sorry Kyo. We're....we're going to meet Aster..." A pained looked crossed his face. Karma....That bastard was going to pay.
He might have laughed at that first part if she didn't seem to be so honest about it "That's...helpful." She seemed liked she was proud of her answer. 'Licking it' didn't seem that helpful but luckily the rest of her information was normal. It meant that there was no one that would come to help them except for passing adventurers, but not all of them can be trusted not to just steal your stuff and run.

The questions turned back on him. He was about to mention he was not a human but he didn't care too much about that "It's this or nothing for me. I've put my heart and soul into training for the past four years. Being an adventurer is all I got." He answered plainly, little emotion flowing into his voice. It was not the whole reason. He wanted to better. Stronger. Wiser. Wealthier. Everything he didn't have yet.
Voltaire let her take the lead, following with a intense look in his eyes. His grip on the dagger grew tighter as they moved into the dungeon, as did the tension is his shoulders. It would be a lie to say he wasn't at least a little nervous "Right." He responded quickly, adjusting his footing.

He was busy taking in the sight of the dungeon, his head turning towards Koph "What do you do if you get hurt?" That was not all, Koph said she had some questions for him too "Ask your questions and I will answer them if I want to." He thought that was fair, his past he didn't care about talking about.
I'm all for a Overlord RP and can't wait to make the puny humans fear our power!
Voltaire was struggling with one of the straps as Koph ran off "W-wait Koph-san!" Desperately he tried to keep up and finish putting the chest-plate on. Mily called out to them as they left the Guild Hall, raising their hand to their mouth "Keep safe, meow!" The voice trailing quickly off.

It wasn't until they hit the morning traffic of Orario that they finally managed to slow down some and he was able to finish equipping his beginner's armor. He was going to say something to Koph but instead he looked around in awe. This was the morning march to the dungeon that he'd watch every morning. Adventurers of all skill levels moving en-masse to the dungeon...and now he was a part of that. This was it, the moment he had been dreaming of for so long.

The tower seemed so much taller as they came into the grand plaza, his chest feeling lighter than a feather. It was only Koph's voice that snapped him back into reality. He took the dagger out from the leather sheathe, that he had strapped to his left arm, and looked it over before putting it back "It will have to do. I mean, gotta start somewhere right?" He was so excited he missed Koph calling him the wrong name. He walked passed her on the way to the dungeon's entrance, looking back "I got you watching my back. A dagger will be plenty." He smiled gently.

Voltaire would earn his first weapon himself, it was a simple matter of his pride as adventurer and a man. A picture of his dream weapon already floated in his mind. A sword that can shift into a long range whip, while wearing a claw-gauntlet on his other hand. It would be an expensive weapon to order, but it was a dream he could work towards. As he stood on top of the elevator-platform alongside Koph, He declared that his days of squalor were over. Today, everything would change for the better.
Voltaire looked at Koph's with an envious look in his eyes. It was so well-crafted and its design complimented Koph well. He on the other hand had nothing so he would have to accept the guild's free hand-out that they gave to new adventurers, a basic armor chest-plate and a iron dagger.

He was ready to follow Koph out of the house when their goddess called them back, offering them wise words...that he took to heart. Voltaire found extra strength in knowing he was not only fighting for himself, but for the honor of his goddess. A hesitant look filled his features as Koph hugged Amaterasu....did he have to do that? He wasn't really the hugging type.

Voltaire walked back to his goddess with a determined grin "And will a bag full of Valis!" He exclaimed proudly. Amaterasu smiled softly as her arms reached out around his neck and pulled him close in a motherly embrace "I'm sure you will. I'll be waiting to hear all about your first trip into the dungeon, Voltaire-kun." A slight redness rose in his cheeks before he managed to escape and the duo headed out the door.

After a short walk, passing many other adventurers on the way, Koph and Voltaire arrived at the Guild Hall where many others were either trading in monster stones or speaking with the several Guild Advisors on staff. The moment they walked in, Koph's assigned adivsor, Mily Kot, waved to them with a bright smile on their face as they called out them "Oh it's mew, Koph-san!"

They were almost bouncing with energy, the blue-pink hetero-chromia giving a very distinct quality to their gaze "Mew is this? A mew adventurer-nya?" They leaned over the counter somewhat, a small grin on their lips while their eyes squinted suggestively.

This girl is a guild employee? Voltaire wondered as they stood at Mily's booth "U-uh yes. I'm a new member of the Amaterasu familia. My name is Voltaire Belemont." He stated, it was surprisingly intimidating to be talking to a cute girl.

Mily jumped back and bent down to retrieve something from underneath the counter, smiling brightly as they did so "Okay-nya. Mew need to sign these papers-nyah. I shall go get mew a set of the basic gear-nya." They said happily, placing small stack of papers onto the counter with a fancy pen. Mily then practically skipped father behind the counter-top to a back-room and disappeared. Voltaire tediously filled out the papers and by the time Mily came back, they were done "Here mew go!" A front breast-plate and an iron dagger were given to Voltaire as Mily took the papers "Looks like I will be taking care of both of mew!"

A concerned look that could be confused with a pout crossed their face "Are mew going together?" She asked in a rhetorical question "It's usually a good idea to do mew first day alone-nya." They closed their eyes and almost comically held their pointer finger up in the air next to their head "It is important that first-time adventurers understand the dangers of the dungeon-nya." Even this action, was done with an absurd about of enthusiasm.
I gotta say you got me pretty interested. I love world-building and Sci-fi and fantasy are my two favorite genres.
Voltaire turned his attention immediately towards Solome, after all he was the one who brought Voltaire into this familia "Yes I did. Thank you for the bed." He spoke with gratitude and Solomesimply nodded in response, a wizened grin on his face.

There was hardly time for Voltaire to begin eating as Koph started to throw information at him. It came so quickly he barely caught any of it "Huh?" His mouth partly full with food. Thankfully Solome explained at a pace that wasn't mad. It was soothing to know that this breakfast was a sort of custom, and that Solome was willing to support him. Koph seemed like great company so far but it was a relief to have someone with their head on tighter.

Silver-blue eyes blinked as Koph eagerly demanded he speed through his breakfast, and it worked. He scarfed down what he had left, coughing a little on the last bite. "Alright, alright. I'm done." A single hand was used to wipe away a bit of food that got caught on the corner of his mouth.

Cleaning the kitchen was often a chore he had at the orphanage, so this little amount of work was nothing. The name however he wouldn't so easily accept "Its 'Voltaire', not 'Voltar'." He corrected as he rose from his seat and collected the dishes from the table "And I'll get the dishes." His name was only possession give to him by his birth family, so he tended to cherish it.
