History:
Egypt had always been in Benjamin Anderson's blood since long before he was born. His family had been a long line of Egyptologists since when Egyptomania had really caught on in Europe. Unlike many of their peers, the Anderson family had always held a respect for Egypt and her people's history. This respect allowed the family to rocket to the top of their fields since the locals would lead the Andersons to different dig sites well before anyone else could get to them.
After many generations of living in Egypt and America, the Anderson clan considered themselves Egyptians as much as any native born Egyptian. Benjamin Ramses Anderson was born on October 27th (the Feast of Osiris) in the Anglo American Hospital in Cairo, Egypt. Despite the doctor's best efforts, his mother died soon after naming her son and begging her father to keep the boy safe. Doctor Archibald Anderson swore he would keep his young grandson safe in whatever way he could and he would never tell the boy about his father.
His grandfather decided that the best way to keep his Grandson safe would be to take him on archaeological digs with him. Ben flourished in this environment as the boy had a natural desire to learn and seemed to have a knack for learning. Archibald taught his grandson everything that he knew about Archaeology and Egypt in general. He never went to school but the young man did not seem to need it.
Ben loved his life but always felt that something was wrong. That there was something his Grandfather was hiding from him but Ben never could quite figure out what that was. Whenever Ben would ask about his father, his grandfather would make some excuse and change the subject. Ben never could quite figure out why the man refused to talk about it and the whole thing bothered him for years.
As he got older, Ben wanted to see more than moldy old tombs and temples. The young man got his wish when he Ben got accepted to Oxford University with help from his grandfather. It was only proper for an Anderson to go to Oxford and Ben thrived there. Unlike many of his fellow students, he had seen many of the sites they were learning about. He excelled at Oxford but that feeling of wrongness followed him to Oxford.
It all came to a head when he relieved a strange note ordering him to go to a local pub since someone wanted to meet him. Feeling a strange compulsion to obey, Ben went to the pub and saw an odd looking man sitting in the corner. The curly haired business man seemed to draw people to him but Ben felt that the man was there for him. Upon sitting down, the man began talking to Ben like they had known each other for years. He told the young man personal facts that there was no way he could have known. As the man talked, Ben noticed something about the man and that was he had slightly green skin. It was then that Ben had a strange thought. Looking at the man, Ben stammered to the man in his grasp of Ancient Egyptian naming the man the "Merciful Judge of the Blessed Dead, Wesir, Sepa, Serapis and finally Osiris". His use of the names impressed the man who nodded and motioned for the young man to calm down.
The god explained that he had been watching Ben for sometime now. Ben was the son of Thoth by birth but the god of Scribes had decided to allow Osiris to adopt Ben as his own Scion. It had been many years since the Lord of the Underworld had an Scion of his own and Ben was a special case. The two spent the entire night talking as Osiris explained Titans and the wars, It was Ben's turn to join the war but he needed a weapon to support him. So the god handed him an old scroll telling his Scion to protect the book at all costs. The god decided that since he was King of the Underworld, his first Scion in 300 years should be king of the Overworld. Towards that goal, he gave the boy a group of powers to make friends and influence people.
Now, Ben travels the world hunting Titans in whatever way he can. Oddly enough, Osiris has been watching his Scion popping up to give him advice in the Overworld. The god will show up, tell Ben to meet him at some random restaurant, and explain things to him. These meetings are the only thing keeping the young Scion sane since having a book of magic is not an easy new job. Ben is currently searching for a Band of his own.
Abilities/Skills:
Boxing: Ben learned how to Box when he was younger and enjoys fighting with his fists more than any other weapon.
Parkour: Spent spent the majority of his life running around ancient ruins. During one such adventure, a French Archaeologist decided to teach him Parkour. Ben uses that skill now to keep himself out of harms way.
Doctoral Student: Ben was working on his doctorate in Egyptology when he got his visitation meeting. He can read and speak most forms of Ancient Egyptian, Arabic, and English. The whole becoming the son of a god caused him to drop that pursuit for now.
A decent marksmen: Ben is decent with his Grandfather's old Lee–Enfield No. 4 Mk I rifle. He has been using it to hunt Titanspawn.
Supernatural Abilities:
It has been a long time since the Lord of the Underworld has had a Scion of his own. So the god granted his new son the gifts a king would need to rule. He doesn't understand why his Scion has zero desire to be a king.
Visage of a King (Epic Charisma) : Osiris granted his Scion the ability to be noticed by the masses and inspire them like a true king must do. Ben just seems to have the power to inspire the people to listen to him or help him with just a smile. People want to help Ben instinctively but for now he cannot make a large group obey him.
Loosening of the Tongues (Epic Manipulation) : Sometimes being every so charismatic is just not good enough. Sometimes a king needs to stoop to get what he needs. Ben seems to have the uncanny a make people blurt out what he needs them to say. This requires him to focus on one person for now.
Birthrights:
AKA: The Book of The Dead The Book of Going Forth by Day has gained an odd reputation over the years. Western movies portray it as some evil black book that can do almost anything. However, this is most certainly incorrect. For starters, it is not a book so much as a very large scroll. Unlike most of the mundane versions of the book, this one has the entire 192 spells given by the god Thoth to the mortals. Also these spells actually work if someone can read them. The two most powerful spells involve the use of the purview of Death and Magic (both of which the Book channels). The first one is the ability to call back the Ba of a corpse to animate it. (Unquiet Corpse) It only works if the body has been properly mummified since the Ba would only return to cared for body. However, this spell is small scale compared to the Book's true power. With the proper incantations and rituals, Ben can call a spirit to return back to life in it's body so long as the body is fresh. The price to raise the dead is a high one since Duat does not enjoy giving up a soul. So another sentient being must be sacrificed to take the place of the raised dead.
The main issue is that the book is powerful but requires the full incantations to work properly. He has to focus on the spells for them to work. Most of his spells involve death or the movement of spirits and are very situational. Ben has yet to figure out how to use many of them. Ben keeps the Book in a messenger's bag that he never leaves out of his sight.
