August choked hard at the force, before he stopped, breathing heavily. He looked up at his saviour, straightening himself out and then looking down at his saviour. In fact, out of everyone there so far, he might have been one of tallest, other than a guy with long hair. He felt proud of himself. That was new.

"No! No, I don't need that," August said quickly, eyeing whatever the plant teacher had just handed to AJ suspiciously. "I'm alright now. No need to worry." As if to prove his point, he dissolved into a brief coughing fit once more. "That was the last of it, I swear." She was one of the faculty, but he still didn't know how reliable they all were. August, as he usually did, was making wise and well thought out decisions.

He turned to the boy who'd hit him on the back. Kind of short, brown hair, the kind of person who would let you copy their homework. Which, as an upstanding and high achieving student, August would never do. Ever.

"Better now, thank you," August said with a bright smile. "I've just had a bit of a shock. Nothing you need to worry about - I'm August, by the way, Augustus Walter Lacey-Vane, the Second." He looked at the other boy's face more closely. "You look young, you know. Are you supposed to be here? Do I need to help you find someone?"

They had him at 'Welcome Party'. For all of his distaste having to go to a second rate - no, third rate - magic school, it didn't seem all that bad. He hadn't spent all that much time looking around, to be fair. He'd just glanced over the sheet, promptly ignored the entire thing except for where it had said party, read the relevant sections and shoved it into his pocket where it could either fall out or at least never be seen again. They'd had something similar at the Institute, a great party within the first week, a grand one with no expense spared, and he'd made a right fool of himself. Someone had mentioned offhandedly how funny it would have been if someone spiked the drinks and well, he hadn't done it, but someone else had and the memories stopped right about there.

So this was a new school. A new start. New people. No more getting in trouble. It wasn't like it was his fault, he had to practice somehow and that was just how curses worked. Honestly. whoever was in charge of discipline at the Institute needed to sort themselves out.

Soon, August arrived, and glanced around quickly. The party itself was... quaint. A few people had gotten in before him, but not that many. A few seemed familiar, but it was in that uncanny way that they probably just looked similar to people he'd met at some point. One looked kind of looked like Reagan Breckenridge from the Institute if Reagan Breckenridge from the Institute was a demon. He wondered what had happened to the guy. August hadn't really kept up with anything to do with the institute once he was gone. It made him sad to think about.

Like any other person with their priorities would, he immediately made his way over to the snack table with the bewildered professor standing behind it. August gave him a small smile in greeting, but it didn't seem like he noticed.

"...symmetrical, but..."

Presentation was always important. That made sense. To help, August picked up the snacks on the opposite sides to the ones that students had already taken to keep it even. If he'd accidentally knocked a few others out of place in the process, then who could blame him? Satisfied with his haul, August stepped back from the table. Everyone else seemed to have congregated in a group, so he resolved to just wait for someone else to come along and ambush them into conversation. He popped a cookie into his mouth, looking around with a vacant expression, until he started choking violently.

That black haired girl, now he could see her face better, bore a striking resemblance to the one responsible for the science wing fire. Cousins, he thought to himself. They must be cousins. They had to be.
it's fae creek anything goes
if Yon’s interview was between August and AJ’s then the admissions officer could have just taken the guinea pig for safekeeping between Yon and AJ, make sense since it just got eaten to keep it somewhere safe

let’s have a buffet
@stone trying to butter me up huh

enjoy my low quality doodle
top 10 photos taken seconds before disaster

honestly i keep reading these sheets because they're so entertaining. good job all.
they have enough people to form a club

If we've got coed dorms, I've got a character from a novel I'm brainstorming that would be perfect for Augustus' roomie... in an oil-and-water sort of way.
