"Don't worry ma'am. I know what the aliens like." -Sgt. Maj. Johnson, Halo 3 ODST

"I might be big, and not as strong as the other guys... but the one thing I'm not... IS WEAK!" -Murray, Sly 2

"The important thing is not how long you live... it's what you accomplish with your life." -Grovyle, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

"You're a slave to history. Even after Calamity, you fight against the only order that can guarantee the safety of your people. You, solely, are responsible for this." -Crimson 1, Project Wingman

"Raven. Let's meet this new age... together." -Ayre, Armored Core 6

"It took me a while, but I finally figured out that this isn't about me, about what I want. Not anymore. It's about keeping this city safe. And once you're dead, no one will ever threaten it again." -Cole Macgrath, Infamous.

"You think she's free? Now she has to live with her decisions." -Starkiller, Star Wars: Force Unleashed

I'll have something in the next few hours. Sorry for the wait.
No clue what that has to do with forum RPing. But welcome to the guild.

He took note of the young lady’s accent, something from South America by his guess, but he’d never heard her accent specifically. “I’ll be fine, ma’am… just fine.” Michael said between breaths, waving the young woman off. He’d appreciated the gesture, but now was not the time to be stopping. Not yet.

The older man followed behind the group through the quiet halls of the apartment building, serving as the rear guard. He could hear movement on something stomping around on the floors above, and assuming the worst, figured that having someone watch the rear was a good plan.

Michael drew his firearm as a reflex when a survivor downstairs swore. He followed the young lady downstairs, raising his gun to the zombie, but stopping shy of shooting it when he realized it was already dead. “... I’m gonna need something for my blood pressure by the time this is over.” He muttered bitterly, as he lowered his gun towards the concrete, but didn’t holster it just yet.

As the group looked over the vehicles, Michael approached the transporter, unlocking the car and checking the back to ensure there weren’t to any surprise passengers. “Anyone here know how to hotwire a car?” The older man asked when the lack of keys for the Volkswagon became evident, and much to his chagrin, no one volunteered themselves. He took this opportunity to lean on the side of the vehicle for a few moments, scratching his chin as he thought for a moment. “Well, odds are the key’s still in the buildin’ somewhere.” He said, taking into account the fact that the car was still here, despite being unlocked. He paused for a moment longer, before starting back towards the stairs that had led them into the garage.

After taking a moment to think about it, he turned back towards the kind young woman who’d seemed concerned for him earlier, and the elderly woman before that. It was awful of him to ask, but he wanted to be sure the keys ended up getting back to the group, and he knew trying to outrun a horde was a bad plan for himself, not that there were likely to be too many undead in the building. “I’m gonna go reconnoiter, see if I can’t track down those keys. Mind joining me, ma’am?”

The young belua sat alone in his room-turned-improvised-workshop in his home, as he stared down at the half-disassembled weapon on his impromptu workbench. “C’mon, you were working just fine when I tested you yesterday. Now what’s wrong?” Paasi had asked, and after a few moments, he picked up a pair of tweezers in his right hand, and brought them over towards the receiver. “There you are.” Paashi muttered, as he used the tweezers to gently remove the pieces of a pin that connected the receiver to the lever. With a sigh, he placed the pieces in his left hand, along with several small pieces of metal he had lying around, and closed his hand. There was a soft orange glow from under his coppery scales, and as he opened his hand, the pin and filaments he’d used had been replaced with a seemingly new pin, and a miniscule amount of rust that he’d guessed had been the cause of this failure.

“Need better materials. It’s an absolute pain needing to transmute the rust from what’s usable.” He griped, as he lifted the pin with his tweezers, and set it back in place. It only took him a few moments to reassemble the weapon, at which point he ran the action with a smooth chik-chik as the breech opened, then closed. Satisfied, the belua placed a thumb on the hammer, and pulled the trigger, slowly guiding the hammer back without letting it dry-fire. He then pushed the weapon inside a long, thin cloth bag, which he then tied shut and slung over his shoulder. The belua then made to leave, as he was running late as it was, and he’d have to move with a purpose if he was going to arrive on time. Paashi paused for a moment as he took in the small note that he been left on the kitchen table for him.

I’ll be rooting for you. And don’t you dare be late! -Morali

With a small smile, he picked it up and slid the paper into his pocket, before continuing his borderline frantic advance. As he made his way out through the relatively humble dwellings, making sure to lock up as he went around the back of the house to the street. As he passed through the alley, he took a moment to smile at the sign that hung over the street, from a post just over the front door.

He then glanced down at a sign on the door, with a smirk.

Repairman called as reaver. Repair services unavailable until further notice.

Turning and picking up his pace into a jog, Paashi's legs granted him the extra alacrity he needed at the moment, as he started moving through sidestreets and alleys, avoiding the normal traffic that tended to congest the main roads.
Bennett followed behind the group after taking that shot, taking up the rear for two reasons. The first was to deal with any zombies who were fast enough to be a problem, and the second being the refusal of his joints to cooperate. The aching and sharp pains in his knee and lower back hindered him, but failed to stop him as the older gentleman made his way forward.

Once he’d reached the window leading to the fire escape, he leered at it for a moment, before stepping through the window with a pained grunt. Climbing through another window wasn’t something he took pleasure in, but it wasn’t the end of the world. His joints still ached all the same, but the context in which he was doing all this climbing prompted him to not gripe about it.

Once the group stopped in the apartment, the Michael pushed the open window shut behind himself, before doubling over and panting. “Well… been a… a few years since… I’ve needed to move like that.” He looked up, taking in the people who were left, and eventually just looking at the door. He silently holstered his pistol as he regained his breath for a few moments, then a familiar sensation washed over him, one he’d had to contend with far too many times. Guilt.

Why in the hell am I still alive, while good folk die around me?

He looked around, and the old man didn’t see the faces of the people who had left the bar. Instead, for a brief moment, he saw the faces of people from years past. Desperate. Pained. Terrified. His breathing hitched for a moment, as he lowered his head so as not to meet those stares, and after a few moments, his heart stopped pounding in his chest, and he stood back up, albeit with a little protest from his lower back. ”... Well, there’s no point in jes’ waitin’ fer them to come and beat the door down. That garage downstairs still seems like our best bet to me.” He managed, trying his best to keep his mind focused on the current situation, as it was better than the alternative.
