That's not what I'm saying. The concept of pain can't be explained. It just is.
By that logic, surely the concept of taste or touch can't be explained either. Why can't it be a feeling the mind creates in response to something bad--a feeling that it generally considers bad? After all, touch is a feeling the mind creates in response to what an object is like under your touch.
